Dutch producer Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt needs little introduction unless you’ve spent the past two decades buried beneath a Mont Blanc avalanche. His enormous collection of synthesizers, as well as his unwavering love for analogue production tools, justifiably places him in the synth music “Hall of Fame”. Since releasing his first material in the early 1990s, Legowelt has incessantly produced music and continues to display seemingly limitless creativity. As a result he has built an unparalleled discography that also includes an assortment of artist aliases.

Legowelt’s new EP ‘System Shapeshift’ will be released on Lapsus sub label C.E.E., specializing in more club-oriented sounds. The label returns to action after a two-year hiatus, during which time its intrepid explorers failed twice to scale the dizzy heights of Nanga Parbat. Now back at sea level C.E.E.’s head honchos have confirmed the release of Legowelt’s new five-track EP, bursting at the seams with 30 minutes of unrelenting old-school techno, synth house and snaking electro bathed in pure acid. The boss of NC4K, Stones Taro's new EP is out now. This is the first release with a 12" vinyl from his own label. The first track, "Magma Diver", is an energetic breakbeat with sampled vocals from dancehall. A2, "Auto Translation", is a very practical house track with repetitive simple basslines and clear breakbeats. B1's title track "Seed Man" is a jungle track created by his own original style, with his unique use of vocals, great bassline ideas, and clear breakbeats. B2 is a Baltimore-style remix with rave sounds by Coco Bryce, a wicked producer in the modern jungle scene.

Steppin up, steppin in. Detroit native Jason Hogans supplies the goods for ALELAH014 with a five-track journey though the depths of the downtown. 2022 may bring much much uncertainty to the world but one thing we know for a fact is that we are introducing our most innovative and intriguing new act in years – the French duo Archil & Leon with their five track debut (appropriately called) “Blooming”.

Having both released in the past independently, Archil & Leon were originally brought together thanks to their teenage band His Majesty and from there, their passion to create music together never has faltered. Leon is a veteran session and live drummer who also produces music for his own dance project Ongaeshi and the dance collective moovance. Archil is an accomplished solo electronic musician and the force behind Archil Lab handmade musical devices. Using elements like springs (Springophone) and wheels (Roulettophone), his instruments are lovingly manufactured in wood and somehow carry the characteristics of modular gear but in the most unconventional way possible.

At a first listen, Archil & Leon’s music comes off as a well oiled live jam but as you dig deeper, it’s clear these tracks have a precision and style that separates them into a category of their own. Their EP “Blooming” is the result of two full years of being locked in their studio, writing and experimenting together. Indeed, an underlying flow of 70’s funk permeates throughout their music, however pigeonholing them into such a stereotype would be a travesty as they have impeccable song writing skills and their self made instruments conjure an experimentalism which is through and through rooted in electronic music. We can only hope that fans of now-classic Jamie Lidell / Super_Collider will appreciate where they are coming from, and you agree their “sound” is brilliantly individual. After all, they created their tracks literally from the ground up.

Three years after Uno EP, Rico Herrera returns on Roots Underground launching a new series of 7" releases called Excursions, produced by Herrera himself and made special by collaborations with other artists from the Italian and international scene.

On this first volume we find the wonderful voice of Jane Hamilton, Scottish singer already known for some of her collaborations released on Sonar Kollektiv and on the legendary Theo Parrish' Sound Signature and Filippo Guerrieri, multi-instrumentalist, already present on the previous Uno ep, on keyboards (Rhodes Digital Piano).

The result of this trio of wonders is Favourite Dream (A side), elegant Soulful House track characterized by hard-hitting Latin percussion, deep jazz chords, as well as the sparkling voice of Hamilton, which give the track a special brilliance and harmony as well as a sure grip on the most sophisticated dancefloors.

I Love my Pork Pie Hat (B side) is the title of the incredible jazz-flavored track that completes this first volume of the series where we find another old friend of R.U., Lorenzo Morresi, who brings his guitar on this vibrant Rico' beat, full of percussion, for a result that will warm the hearts of all lovers of the most authentic and genuine New York Garage sound.

Excursions with this first volume promises to be a cult series, which will surely make all collectors and all the real "House Heads" out there lick their lips.

Vladimir built his reputation with some outstanding live shows, and he is one of the most interesting artists of the shining Ukrainian scene

The EP is a perfect example of the diversity of styles he covers, from 4/4 to breakbeat with a very unique blend of spacey trance sound which is a trademark of his productions.

A side opens up with Storm, an emotional excursion into Vlad’s art. Nostalgic synth lines evolving into a hedonistic dancefloor banger.

A2 is Roosblom, a kidnapping tune that brings you to a dystopic world when new forms of life are trying to surface.

On the flip side, we have Toevlug, the most introspective piece of the EP. Melancholic sounds and robotic sequences create a dreamy aura while the sneaky breakbeat held up the tension.

Skarrel closes the EP with a ruthless 4/4 beat combined with a gloomy atmosphere that finds its climax on the break. That’s pure madness in a big sound system.

Four epic space jams to play as your attack ship goes down in flames off the shoulder of Orion. 'Go big or go home' could be Dream Ticket's motto by now, and Seoul-based Pyramid Of Knowledge has the sonic weaponry to live up to it: breaks, bass, acid and an extra heaping of laser noises. Comprising four brilliant, groove-laden tracks, the Cyclone EP is one of our favourites so far. The title track, Cyclone, bumps and rolls atop a sneaky bassline, and keeps you locked in with a unique, shifted synth hook. The similarly pumping Time Zone Unknown keeps the groove straighter, with added gnarliness from a crisp synth line designed to cut its way to the centre of the dancefloor.

Over on the flip, the dark and super-heavy Room 1 spirals and builds before hitting hard with a chestplate bassline. The more lilting Groove Merchant sits on the B2, slightly sci-fi and rounding things off in style.

First Word Records is very pleased to welcome back Quiet Dawn with a brand new EP entitled 'Movements'.

Parisian multi-instrumentalist Will Galland has been with First Word since late 2014, providing several releases for us over the years, from his acclaimed debut album 'The First Day' to his last EP release, the organic opus 'Human Being - The Short Story Of The Reed'. Collaborations have included Makaya McCraven, Oddisee, Miles Bonny and First Word crew such as Eric Lau, Bastien Keb and Sarah Williams White, who he teamed up with on his classic remix of the track 'Hum' and most recently on the track 'One By One' which appeared on the compilation EP 'A Family Affair' at the start of 2021.

For his latest project, 'Movements' sits firmly in the realms of broken beat, after being heavily inspired at First Word's infamous 14th birthday party at Total Refreshment Centre, where he played alongside label-mates such as Kaidi Tatham and Children of Zeus. This delectable six-track EP encompasses a series of deeply percussive grooves and squelchy synths. This is a predominantly instrumental affair, though does feature the supremely soulful vocals of Oliver Night on the track 'Change Must Come', following on from Oliver's work with the CoOp Presents crew amongst others.

Quiet Dawn says "after the birth of my son, I took the time to get back to making new music.

And when I started to work on new tracks, I wanted to compose something without concept, unlike my previous records, just because time is precious and I wanted to find pleasure again when I composeand not be fixed to a concept, or a story.



These new tracks are instinctive; made with my main instruments, rhodes & piano, synths, percussions, vocals, bass and guitars. They are naturally oriented towards my big musical crush, BRUK, along with different rhythms, vibes and grooves. For me, it's definitely a record for the dancers. For this reason, the new EP is called 'Movements'. Aside from the dancer's element, the title relates to everything that is happening in the world at the moment, working on this record over the pandemic. Affecting people in all countries, friendship, mutual aid, solidarity and movements in many instances are very important to me, my family and my musical family, First Word.'



The influences on this particular EP come largely from the West London music scene; DKD, Bugz, Neon Phusion, 2000Black, Domu, IG Culture, Jazztronik, MdCL, the First Word fam and many many more artists. There are also heavy vibes inspired by 70's jazz, funk, disco, latin & african music."

drumming has landed him gigs with vastly varied artists such as Flying Lotus, José James and

Mala, as well as recent recordings with Jordan Rakei, Alfa Mist and Sandunes. Unveiling his

forthcoming EP 'Spirit Beats', Spaven's musical talent is further demonstrated beyond his world-class

performance abilities, weaving his incredible technical skills into unique textured productions and powerful

compositions.

First single 'Hoodie Beats' begins amidst instant urgency. Atmospheric in mood, whilst relentless with its

accuracy, sub-bass locking into place with tight drums for a euphoric dance floor drop. Second single

'Nova' sees a continuation of the collaboration between Spaven and Jordan Rakei. Soul and substance

It's a common misconception that ambient can't be loud or make itself known. This couldn't be further from the truth, with some of the canon's most special moments coming when the beats drop and the overall atmosphere is a strange kind of expanded intensity - a sense of build without blatant intent or obvious destination.

The relatively short, but impeccably sweet Reality Used To Be A Friend Of Mine back catalogue is very much proof of this. Panorama EP could be considered Erta Ale’s personal homage to the early 90's progressive house . Repetitive patterns, infectious bass lines and emotional chord progressions cooked together with precise rhythmical structures as well as featuring short vocal loops and acid lines typical for that time. The intention from Erta is to bring the crowd back in time and far from intellectualism and negative trips, in a place and time where dancing, dreaming and positive feelings were always present on the dance floor. The Dutch icon Orlando Voorn is releasing a fresh new sound on Deeptrax Records sublabel Contrafact! Having started his career in the early 80s with major influences of Parliament, Kraftwerk, Motown and P funk, he is now widely recognized as an ingenious (Detroit) house and techno producer with former releases on Juan Atkins’ Metroplex records and Kevin Saunderson’s KMS. In “The Master” this album brings something special and is influenced by the deeper sounds of soul and funk. Orlando Voorn has used aliases in the past to present and release various styles of music without limiting himself and is one of the most versatile producers out there. We are proud to team up with Voorn and release this album that captures soulful jazz, funk rhythms and perfectly fused with passionate vocals in a real jazzy Detroit vein.

Whilst her Roselien moniker has been rushing through the London jazz, soul and rnb scene by various live shows downtown and her monthly "La Vie En Rose" radio show on Totally Wired Radio in the east side of town, her newest project Rosie From The Block is coming out of the blue on your favourite cities' label with refreshing but sharp broken beats, soulful and gospel like vocals along with a strong message and a soft touch of herself.

She already caught attention and support from big names worldwide such as Lefto, Erica McKoy and Reggie Watts, a remix done by Broken Beat's leading artist Kaidi Tatham and done support shows for Gregory Porter, Meshel Ndegeocello, The Jones Girls, Bilal and Gabriel Garzon Montano, Roselien is at least Belgium's hardest working girl within her niche.

As Roselien, her vocals were always the leading factor in her music, but Rosie From The Block shows her tougher side within by giving the full attention to her instrumentals and adding lyrics in function of her jams.

The lush and mellow floater she gave the name “you are loved” is a confirmational necessity for anyone in need. Strong drum accompany her carefully chosen chords down a slide of endorphins.

The story she's telling with “Let me be” is a strong and empowered message what every woman has experienced on the streets: namely harassment in public places and she's putting a belt below any girl's- or woman's heart.

“No matter what” denies and smacks away any form of doubt with bright and joyful piano chords along her personal style of drums, in order to land her plane of butterflies on the vice city airport, ready for the next flight.

All compositions and lyrics are a 100% made by herself within a range of less than 3 weeks. A no brainer for anyone listening to these tracks from the toughest girl from the block.

'Pomelo Fog' is a 100bpm wormhole with warm reese-bass expansions and washes of serotonin-soaked pads incubating a new mutant techno-dancehall variant.

Birds’ second Höga Nord offering is a 4 track EP created entirely during the first UK Coronavirus lockdown in spring / summer 2020. The themes throughout the record are inspired by various thoughts, feelings and coping mechanisms adapted by herself and her peers; from live streams to micro-dosing, to exercising patience and trying to feel comfort in the fact that there will be other opportunities and we’ve just got to wait this thing out whilst trying to stick together for emotional support. Sonically it moves around a lot from gurgling 303 bass lines, to break beats, to dubby guitar breakdowns, to heavy club inspired 909 kick drums, whilst always maintaining a droney undertone.

The second release on Paradoxy records build by Clafrica! A fantastic 6-track tape and digital release, with some breaky and crunchy tracks starting from 123 bpm till 145 bpm.

Puckered kizomba zingers from PT Musik - the grown-up alias of Puto Tito - marking a supremely classy progression from his 2019 debut double album with a sparkling trio of romantic pearls for Princípe

Marking the vital Lisbon label’s 10th anniversary year, ’Não Sou Perfeito’ is one of the sweetest treats in its decade long (and ongoing) reign, exemplifying the rich soul at the heart of its sound. The artist’s name change signifies a clear advance in his already emotive style of composition, as showcased in his teenaged productions on the ‘Carregando A Vida Atrás Das Costas’ set. The style of spare, grimy, chamber-like melodies in his formative early work is now found embellished with warmer pads and more nuanced rhythmic inflections to express a heightened grasp of slow jam romance that blends his native Atlantic coast breeze with a decidedly Californian G-funk lean to gorgeous effect. It’s a west coast thing, baby.

‘Aplausos’ is the outstanding A-side, drizzling syrupy G-funk-alike soul leads on a lilting kizomba rhythm and deliciously woozy chords bound to soundtrack embraced bodies and loved-up eyes scanning the dance. ‘Its Mine’ follows to dial up the forlorn ‘80s FM synth soul with an instrumental flair worthy of a Sade vocal (perhaps that’s her not replying to the ansafone motifs?), and ’Tudo Acabou’ bring this brief daydream of an EP to its closing strokes with a come-to-bed sashay of dry iced synth haze and slow-motion hip work.
