Our Prozpektiva series continues with the aim of shining a light on new, up & coming artists and for this installment we present the talented Anna Kohlin. An appreciated selector and producer currently bubbling up within Stockholm's underground scene, Anna has played alongside many respected artists and venues in the City and recently branched out in the production world with her debut release on local label Dirty Hands last year.

With us here she drops a 4-tracker full to the brim of spritely, fun-filled dancefloor house jammers. Från oss tummen upp !

For their 4th release, Gnistan Records enlist young Swedish newcomer Baenglund. After launching his Firma Grande label earlier this year he produces a varied five tracker here in his own imitable style.

As the Picnic name continues to gain popularity with carefully curated events worldwide so does the label. After a string of high quality well received releases yet another one follows in the same vein with boys of the moment – Data Memory Access, Shaque & DJ Tjizza contributing to a memorable EP.

Ouroboros launches with an expert example of some lively breaks by newcomer, Grey Pantone. Fast old school music is the order of the day here with S. Moreira delivering a top shelf dubbed out remix on the flip. Nice start !

Specially curated Houdini tracks released for the first time on vinyl taken from their 1994 Limited Edition CD album on the Fax +49-69/450464 label. 'Strange' but intriguing.

For REZ24twentyfour we enlist an enigmatic producer from Berlin in Mario Panagiotis. Compiling four tracks from his two EP's that were previously released on independent label ISM Productions during the mid 90's.

From the Housey French vibes of 'Step 2' and 'Do It Again' to the hypnotic breakbeat sounds of 'Autumn' and nicely rounded off with the epic Soundtrack-esque end-of-nighter 'Lost' it's a complete compilation to the sound of Mario in his heyday.

Parisian, DJ and Forest Ill label owner Nemo Vachez delivers the next EP on LMML and has put together a happy, quirky four track EP. The release feels more like a mini album when listening to all the tracks consecutively as the sounds blend in & out of different arrangements giving you the feeling of a transition between the tracks while allowing them to tell their own unique story.

“ara.bot” EP is packed with four minimalistic & dark electro gems, highlighting Rehcorb’s love for atmospheric & hypnotic sounds.

Another debut on Chat Noir Tools! Sunaas is up next with his Master Blaster EP, a powerful blend of electro, house, breaks & downtempo with touches of 80's movies samples. The young producer follows up the CNT mantra with amazing dancefloor weapons.

After his Portgas D.Ace EP released in 2021 Vafa is back on Griffé with a new stunning piece of music. Produced by the ocean during his stay in Portugal, his Lay Back EP exhibits that the frenchman isn't only a talented surfer but also a brilliant producer with a very distinctive sound, a nice blend of breaks, electro & bass music with a pinch of dub influenced sounds. Welcome back boy.

Hypnohouse strikes back! After a short delay due to the (ongoing) war in Ukraine - the label’s 4th release is finally available for sale. This time around, Hypnohouse offers four solid tunes from four Ukrainian musicians of various backgrounds.

The A side jumpstarts the dance engine with two wicked earth shakers from Yaroslav M. (a.k.a AC130) & Victor B. (a.k.a Vybukhivka). These two locals share a distinct flair and style that will leave listeners pumping from side to side for a strong while.

The B side demonstrates an after-hour, alternate reality excursion through hypnosis with two warping grooves from Vlad S. (a.k.a Hopper Field) and Count Orlok (DJ 69 & AC130). Both artists are highly capable of inducing their listeners into an uncanny state of consciousness through music - don’t miss!

On the A-side, infectious beats and stabbing organs with waves of progressive nostalgia, on the B-side the exploration of breakbeat realms and soundscapes, interspersed with 80s electro elements. Elephant Moon returns !

Planet Boom is the arena. The Serpent has issued a challenge: four warriors, one chance to shift the balance of power through sound alone. Each codebreaker brings their weapon. Sweater with his nimble footwork and striking rhythm combos. Reyer with a crushing, tactical onslaught. Poten with cerebral unpredictability. Lukey with a flowing, adaptive style that reads the room like an open circuit. Only one will decode the final key. The rest will be echoes. Planet Boom is the battleground. Let the soundclash begin.

Art Gang Records launches with Orlando Valencia aka Volen an LA based producer who's recent release on UFO created some buzz and brought his highly energetic, raw and intergalactic sound to the label. With three original tracks best suited to a dark-lit room it's left to Markus Sommer to come up with a double-dropping re-interpretation of the title track. Ping ping !

MME Recordings lands on planet earth with their first release from Berlin based Italian producer Cesare Muraca. The spacey four tracker opens with an immediate dancefloor smasher in the form of Space Message. The trippy yet melodic synths balance out the killer drums and addictive bassline to hypnotize dancers in the groove. The rest of the EP comprises of euphoric synth structures and chunky bass, offering a solid allrounder that simultaneously works for any moment in the night.

For the latest Klasse Wrecks release, the label combine with Japan's finest festival and events crew Rainbow Disco Club to collaboratively present WRECKSRDC. Overrocket were an electro-pop band from Tokyo that enjoyed a grip of great releases in the early 2000s while signed to Neon Discs and its parent label Aten. During a digging session Luca Lozano discovered the forgotten tracks 'Duralumin' and 'Shadow of the Sun' and immediately set out trying to contact the band's members to arrange a re-release and remix. A few months of patient trying, the connection was finally made and wheels were set in motion. Musically the EP conjures up perfectly the sonics of that time, a grey area between analog convention and the unexplored territories of new digital freedom. Shadow Of The Sun is electro-pop perfection, with breezy vocals and a bouncing beat that sounds like nothing else around...past, present or future. Duralumin is a more dancey collection of blips and beats, one that will make sense in the current return to early 2000s aesthetics. To round out the release and propel it into 2025, KW label bosses take a track each and interpret in their own way. Lozano revisits his electro roots with two remixes of Shadow of the Sun, distorted 808s and growling 101 basslines provide a simple backdrop for the perfect vocals. Mr. Ho takes Duralumin into a more driving and pacey direction, upping the energy and excitement with fast percussion and a huge side chained breakdown that recalls the unbridled rawness of the early 2000s, when everything was just a little bit more fun. Keeping within the confines of Japan and in an effort to bring everything full circle, the label enlisted Japanese artist Gonno to master the tracks for an updated modern sound. The tracks themselves being mastered a few miles from where they were originally penned over 20 years ago.

DSOTSV02 coming in hot with four underground bangers. One-to-watch N-Gynn brings the second vinyl release with his moody ‘Dark Side Of Time’ E.P., containing three slapping originals. The remix by Yamen & EDA wraps up the record with a solid house cut.

Automation were one of the strongest old skool underground rave groups, producing numerous huge tunes such as Electricity, Espionage,
Pacemaker, Ruffcut, and Eat The Bee, and all of their amazing EPs are being remastered and reissued for the first time in over 30 years!

Orbital London returns after a three - year hiatus with "Revenant EP" , marking its lucky number seven release — this time featuring Jack Michael and the debut of Romanian duo The Apricots , consisting of Alexandra and DJ Slim Fit . A destined musical match, as Alexandra has been an Orbital fan since the very beginning.

Staying true to its concept, the release features two original tracks — one from each artist — while pushing creative boundaries as they remix each other's work.

On Side A , Jack Michael’s “Infinity” goes fast and driving with a heavy bassline, blending breakbeat and techno flavors. A haunting winding melody and a mysterious vocal add to the track’s hypnotic energy. The Apricots’ remix of Jack’s track blurs the lines between electro and breakbeat, with a trance vibration in the underneath layers and surprise dubstep insertion with a dirty bassline.

On Side B , The Apricots’ “Subdued” is powered by the rich, broken - beat percussion and a wild, rave - inspired bassline. As the title suggests, the heaviness of the bas s is m omentarily tamed by the emotive pads and melodies — only to return stronger for a different , yet electrifying bass interlude, topped with a deep male vocal. Jack Michael’s re shape of "Subdued" takes a dreamier approach, crafting a deeper breakbeat journey, dominated by long hefty bass wave s and bathed in quirky synths and etherial pads.

AN ATLAS OF LOSS

Do minerals dream of becoming semiconductors? Do they yearn to carry charges, amplify, switch, and convert energy into emotions comprehensible to humans? And what if, from the darkness of the underground, they had been listening to us sing in caves before the emergence of the first flute? Could they have guided us, through the course of history, to find them, extract them, and create new sounds through sinusoidal waves, to form valves and bend circuits?

If so, minerals would transition from what philosopher Eugene Thacker defines as the ‘planet’—that virginal and unreachable realm for humans that we study through geology, paleontology, and environmental sciences—to the ‘world,’ the space we inhabit, interpret, and synthesise in our daily lives. Sadly, we only remember the world when it erupts violently, through climate catastrophes or when a new virus emerges. Sometimes a tsunami collides with a nuclear plant, or viruses are cultivated as biological weapons in high-security laboratories, provoking a deep biological anxiety, hard to quell, which we all feel beneath our skin.

There exists a third realm, disconnected from both the world and the planet: the ‘earth’, an immense, dense rock floating in space alongside other planets, situated in the cosmological dimension. Relating to the earth is so complex that we only do so through theoretical speculations of a scientific nature or through science fiction, interweaving until one becomes the prophecy of the other, in an infinite, pendular dance. Beyond the darkness of space and Lovecraft’s cosmic horror, the fantasy of human extinction is the most recurrent: to reach a collapse so devastating that we do not survive it, even though the earth does, without us.

In a world where we quantify everything through body sensors, financial algorithms, nanometre-scale robots, and surveillance drones—a world in which everything that can be domesticated and controlled can also be commodified—a superior artificial intelligence would survive the collapse of the species (some speculate it might even cause it) and learn from our mistakes, thanks to our obsessive gathering of data.

Long after our voices fade, minerals will persist in the darkness of screens, in the silicon of chips, and in their pure form, still unexploited underground. Over the millennia, this intelligence might piece together fragments of our reasoning, as if an alien civilization finally connected with one of our spacecrafts loaded with messages cast into the void. It would sort through endless streams of data, unable to grasp the depths of emotion behind what it quantified, recreating simulations of our past, stripped of the nuance that once defined us and conducting experiments in sandboxes.

Some remnants of our existence—faint echoes of forgotten beauty—would be pieced together in an atlas of loss, buried beneath layers of numbers, decayed bots, and corroded hard drives. What will follow? Perhaps bison will once again roam—trotting to the strange pulse of techno, their ancient forms framed by the ruins of our cities.

Buildings will crumble, slowly dissolving under the soft touch of ambient music, and a thousand flowers will bloom with that ancient music created through electrical signals and computation. 7 songs for a future both improbable and inevitable—a final message from a world lost to itself, from planet Earth to planet Earth.

Burnski's superb Pilot label is back with more club-ready gold and this one is from Hatori Hanso. He opens up by covering the gorgeously deep and soul enriching sounds of a Pepe Bradock classic but reworks the pads into a more thumping breakbeat rhythm. 'My Chorus' is a soft acid delight with surging breaks heading off into the cosmos and 'I'm A Taker' then has a squelchy bassline to die for that dances about between snappy snares and lively kick drums. 'Kraulen' shuts down with some boogie energy, radiant chords and more crispy drum patterns for good time fun.
