2+ is the 3rd album of DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson. A new sound stopover in their funky trip since their beginning with T’es qui ? album in 2015. This new building stone prolongs their critically acclaimed album Aimez ces airs released in 2019.

What’s new? 15 tracks , eclectic, soft, deep, and funky, where electro, soul even afro beat touches , or bossa nova live together harmoniously. DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson make praise of slowness (« Pas si vite »), address environmental issues (« Coeur béton »), social statements on (« Police », « Raie publiques », « clic »), childhood on (« Bola Mba ») , the post colonial relation between Africa and the other continents. Love is also really well presented ( « Thé à la menthe «, « Ping Pong ») and why not sailing to Essaouira in Morocco ?

During the summer of 2020 , when the french national radio asked them to perform a live cover , our french funky duo chose the famous « Né quelque part » by Maxime Leforestier released in 1987. Their Suave interpretation, haunting beat and spatial & languid atmosphere give a fantastic tribute to this beautiful melody and strong lyrics. They found a very intimate link with chorus in Zulu, harking back to the strong connection they made with South Africa during their last tour.
It became clear that they needed to put this track on their new album , as their now club remix classic « Bwe Dlo « performed with their friend David Walters.

After their tour in South Africa, they met « Cool Affair », the musician and electro house producer in Johannesburg who made a beautiful remix of « Aimé Césaire » which close perfectly this new opus. Recorded at « Le triangle des Bermudes » the home studio of Lieutenant Nicholson, produced and mixed by him with a electro analog sound dear to them. Horns, live drums, percussions and vocal choir were recorded at Bastille village at the label basement , even during the pandemic… On 2+, we can also hear the swirls of Antoine Berjeaut at the trumpet and bugle, magic keys from Florian Pellissier , two new flagships of the French jazz scene.

Once again, DjeuhDjoah & Lieutenant Nicholson push the boundaries of the traditional « French song « to make the world dance. They want to keep their international audience , from Australia, Japan, Usa, South Africa to name a few the dance floors of the world will ignite with this new album . The French touch will still shine !

Kiss Klassics serves up another couple of dancefloor anthems from Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Willlams on Get Lucky....

New York City House / Disco from NY/Philly based producers. Jacques Renault of Let's Play House offers a string-heavy bassline slapped floor filler. Matpat of Philly with release on Exploited and 124 Recordings brings a raw kick, heavy pounding loop driven classic house track. Evan Michael offers a belter of a raw filter track for the rooftop set. Higgins closes the record with an uptempo stomper.

Ever since the early days of the 90s when producers began experimenting with the signature motifs of high octane disco music within the 4 on the floors, there has been a steady stream of happy go lucky releases which have never failed to deliver the goods on the Dancefloor.

Say Namm label head BDK remains a devotee to both genres, and pours his passions into the tunes he crafts, with SNA001 demonstrating the vibe of the imprint and the direction it might be heading in. The tunes found on this release weren’t your run of the mill edits, oh no, they had heart, swerve and depth, with the samples pushed to their absolute limit both in terms of energy and creativity.

Keeping the fire very much alive and well, 002 provides the diversity and well roundedness we came to know and love with the first release, with each track showcasing a differing side to the relationships that persist between disco and house.

The EP’s opener ‘Just Can’t Be Without You’ draws plenty of focus to the baseline and looping vocal effect, a superb groove that delves deep into the soul. ‘All I Want’ keeps its cards close to its chest, with a thunderous rhythm section providing the basis for a heart clenching melodic section to come forth, and its release is top notch.

On the flip, ‘Oh! What a Life!’ places plenty of emphasis on the excellent drumming patterns, with the intricate key lines and vocal performance dwelling perfectly within the peaks and troughs. Rounding off the experience comes the aptly named ‘Disco Sauce’, which shifts perspective to the euphoria inducing guitar riff, one which dominates the top layer to perfection as the rest of the track also does the business over and over again.

So why not embrace the warmth and get lost within some superbly made disco-house, with riffs and hooks to remember and rhythm sections to really immerse yourself within. The Dancefloor is waiting…..

Alain und Stéphane Quême, oder Alan Braxe und DJ Falcon, sind die unbestrittenen Architekten des French Touch - der gefühlvollen House-Musik, die aus geloopten Samples mit einem unnachahmlichen gallischen Flair gezaubert wird und Mitte der 90er Jahre in Paris entstand. Im Jahr 2022 werden diese beiden Originale ihre erste Zusammenarbeit als Braxe & Falcon in Form der Step By Step EP präsentieren, die auf Smugglers Way erscheint. Braxe ist bekannt für einige der wichtigsten und kultigsten House- und Popmusik-Platten der späten 90er und frühen 2000er Jahre, darunter "Music Sounds Better With You" (The Upper Cuts) als Stardust mit Thomas Bangalter von Daft Punk und offizielle Remixe für Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Kelis, Kylie Minogue und mehr. Politics Of Dancing once again gets our vote here with some balmy deep house propositions from the eponymous production team working alongside French stylist Djebali. 'Close To Gate' layers balmy pads and smeared chords over punchy and dynamic drums with plenty of cosmic effects up top. There is a little more urgency to 'Soul Brothers' which skates and skips along nicely beneath shimmering vocals sounds and wispy melodies. 'Simple Minds' brings more physical drum work and infectious finger clicks while the Franco Cinelli remix gets things on more of a breezy and rolling tip. A useful, heartwarming EP of modern deep house music.

Big tunes don't come much bigger than these 2 French house bangers essential party starters.

Moiss Music is dropping two slabs of heat this month - their sixth and seventh EPs overall. Both are various artists' collections with plenty of 'floor-facing disco fun. Mathew Ferness opens this one with 'Paradisio' which has plenty of inspiration taken from late afternoon dances somewhere like Ibiza. 3kelves & We Are Neurotic get you working your feet with the busy percussive grooves and squelchy synth funk of 'Laguna Reservoir Funk' while Naux brings lots of loopy fun and throwback vocal goodness to his steamy 'Foxxy Cleopatra.' Partner Music rounds out the EP with the most energetic and busy of the lot - the restless melodies of 'People Should Romance.'

Correcciones Calypso returns from a generous hiatus with the fourth edition of its acclaimed edit series, replete with four re-edits that veer from the subtle to the downright brazen. Thomass Jackson and INigo Vontier invite the French duo Youkounkoun to open proceedings with an insane early 80s edit full of big drums and exotic touches that's been blowing dancefloors all around the world for the past years - and definitely resides in the brazen category, despite a lot of work having gone into it. Olta Karawame make their debut on the series with a powerful, compact edit full of ballsy keyboard riffing and a military-sized kick drum that is guaranteed to have heads banging . To complete the release label bosses Thomass and INigo deliver edits of their own with their characteristic sound, giving this EP maximum a value for money factor and entertainment from start to finish.

Four highly soughta after cutz from label boss, DJ Mes have been put together on one 12"! Fans have been requesting these tracks on vinyl for ages, so we decided to put them all together on one EP to satisfy the demand. This EP is stacked with chucky, funky, deep, dirty, jackin house tracks aimed directly at the dancefloor.

'Mysticisms' prides itself on finding the groove, but with a nod (and wink) to discerning ears. However, sometimes it's right to just let it all out and go route one. Berlin based producer Daniel Scholz aka (DJ) Leinad was all about the dancefloor, releasing a series of simple but highly effective EPs of cut up, looped house music that summed up that late 90s Chicago-NYC-London-Paris influenced bombs.

The jack that house built the "heroes" with the "touch" Souvenirs embodies Leinad's sound. Moving from high-school DJ, to computer programmer to professional producer, DJ and soundtrack artist, remixing for the likes of Yellow and Peter Gabriel's Real World, moving from early classic mid-90s German techno and trance releases on to his 'Leinad' moniker (Daniel spelt backwards), the series of releases on JXP can now go for dizzing sums. In Souvenirs, taken from the Disco Part's III EP, Mysticisms found the source - elastic bass, filtered loops, watertight kick and twisted disco'n' strings, all cut back and forth 'for the party' to abandon.

Present day remixes come from Lewie Day's 'Deep Dean' project, offering a wonderful example of an artist at work, a laid back groove, pushing all the right dancefloor buttons, all presented with respect to the past, but with acres of modern day swing; Mysticisms' own cohort Piers Harrison, side stepping his edit school as one of Soft Rocks, to produce a literal peak time acid banger; and to close the 'DJ' returns, Leinad offers a bumping 2022 remake to show he's still a teacher.

Cruise Music Vinyl Jams No. 5 is full of pure house bombs, so we start off with our No. 1 release of 2021, Good Lovin, a disco bomb that went through the roof in many worldwide charts and it's followed by Peter Brown's Nobody Else, another top quality disco house track. Flip side is reserved for two perfect disco grooves. Joey Chicago's old school french touch track, with sweet sampling and a feelgood disco vibe and SAMO's groovy and lovely Never say Goodnight track.

German imprint MASK return in 2021 with yet another inviting anonymous release featuring six raw original cuts.
The MASK imprint continue to impress with their signature aesthetic which places focus on intricate, modular based house, techno and ambient cuts and everything in between. Their previous releases have
garnered strong support from various artists including the likes of Laurent Garnier, DJ Bone, Photonz, Anastasia Kristensen, Marcel Dettmann and many more, and ‘Knef’ sees the esoteric German imprint deliver yet another impressive collection of tracks to kick start 2021.
The ‘A1’ gets the EP rolling with muffled drums and enticing moods that sit delicately underneath the soulful, samples and sweeping synths before ‘A2’ offers up resounding kicks that balance delightfully with the reverberating modulations and powerful yet interesting fx. The A3 lays focus on an aquatic house roller with bubbly melodies and dreamy pads with magnetising emotions brimming to the surface.
On the flip, the ‘B1’ is an engaging cut with breezy resonance and ethereal leads which lure you in from the start whilst the dubby drums, solemn ambience and laid-back m oods take focus in the ‘B2’. Bis Repetita, the retour of «doigté » - Counting on the fingers leads us to the « Index », displaying the non exhaustive list of sonic bits used on twenty years of Pepe’s phonograms. To Dance or not to Dance that is probably not the question, but definitely the answer to the A Side. Vice Versa, the B side whispers « Ur Host »: an army of electronic arpeggios welcoming an atmospheric cure for after hours, introducing « Pitcher » not the carnivorous plant but the friendly musical path to the strike zone; « Danske*Mansus », a refreshing retro futuristic techno-ball, housing ardent grooves and cold sweats. Wandering our way out to sync and lock this second chapter, « Inter-Oger » fades to esoteric dreamscapes.

Tipped for big things, Alex Virgo presents the first release for his brand new Label 'Pomme Frite'. An imprint influenced by his love of Disco & his keen ear for sampling in House music.

While the latest releases have been inspired by the infectious ferocity of earlier Chicago house records, 'Say Wot!' splits off in another direction entirely. Working in elements of the classic sounds that msde the french-house anthems dominate the air waves for so long, its shaping up to be a real head-spinner in the club. 'Asap900', the B-side of the record, brings us back to the golden era of the wareshouse-raves. A straight up, no holds barred kick drum-driven rythm-machine.
