Following January’s acclaimed vinyl debut from Exterior and summer’s much-loved Kota Motomura EP, Edinburgh’s Hobbes Music label ends 2019 with its first album release, also a debut, from GAMING, a fresh new braindance electronica project straight outta Glasgow.

GAMING is a new solo outing that brings together a lifelong love of music and technology and creating left field, rhythmic electronica. It’s the sound of IDM, nineties techno and mensch maschine computer music that is as spontaneous as it is programmed. It's a bit of a grower and may take time to get under your skin....

“Scenes From A Deserted City is a collection of tracks that started as a set of riffs, loops, rhythms and grooves and unfurled around a sense of growing unease about the future of the urban environment around me.

It’s an album that started out as sound…and ended up as a way of telling stories about the age of anxiety we live in, how our world is changing, and how we find a way through that.

This is DIY electronica from Glasgow – it was made on a growing collection of digital and analogue synths and FX units, including a bunch of modular racks, each with its own idiosyncrasies and character that belies the assumption of the binary.

The studio where it was recorded – an abandoned, and often very cold, school building reclaimed by the community some twenty years ago – offered up stories of resilience, even when all seems lost. (I’m not sure what the mice contributed but they definitely climbed in and out of some synths).

This album is ultimately about my changing relationship with Glasgow, a city I’ve lived in for more than 25 years. It’s about how I feel now about the increasing sense of urban decay and how the city can be a very isolating place. It’s about how I reflect on my younger creative self trying to find a direction but mainly feeling a sense of dislocation and not fitting in. And it’s about the questions I have about how that relationship is changing, how it will be forced to move forward.
The result is a soundtrack for walking home on your own, in that headphone bubble when it’s just you focusing on that music that makes sense to you alone. It’s for early in the morning, after the night before, or going to work with the memories of that slipping and sliding inside your head. It’s about how it feels to be both elated and lonely, to be lost in the familiar, despairingly hopeful.”

Inaugural release on Manchester’s latest electronic label Selby Soul. This debut 4-track EP from Alps 2 is a baptism of liquid grooves, cathartic progressions and spaced out synthetic rapture. Meda Fury are buzzing to welcome Silvestre to the fold for a 6 track EP of low-slung party starters. This Lisbon native and London resident has been on several tastemakers lips for the last year now, serving up no-nonsense but seriously fun dance music, comparable to the spirit of mighty Portuguese scene labels Principe and Naive. Joao’s tracks are mind bending hybrids of breakbeat, reggaeton, R&B, rave and house. His recent artilary coming via Seceretsundaze, Diskotopia and his own Padre Himalaya, he now adds the Yeah EP to his weaponry.

The EP's title track has been the soundbed for the recent Boiler Room Festival 2019 promotional videos, sparking a huge amount of interest and ID requests, its remained secret until now. Add to this another 5 tracks of slow rave-tinted kuduro and faster baile funk blends for a truly monsterous set of club heaters!

Music From Memory's sister label Second Circle returns with their first release of 2018, this time with a 4 tracker EP from French producer and Antinote via Melody As Truth affiliate D.K. aka Dang Khoa Chau. Titled 'Mystery Dub', this new record features two percussive house cuts on the A side with two more evocative compositions on the flip. Recorded in his studio in the 11th district of Paris, the release showcases a wide yet characteristic palette of sounds and textures the Parisian artist has been sharpening over the years: atmospheric/hypnotic strings, warm pads, dreamy landscapes and spacial rhythms.

Regarded by Dominik Fernow as the “best US noise project in terms of texture and composition”, Skin Crime return to Hospital Productions with an immanent inversion of noise convention
exploring ideas of tense, slow-burn patience instead of aggressive intensity.
Brutally active between the early ‘90s and mid ‘00s, Skin Crime took a 12 year hiatus until 2016 and the bloodshed of their instantly sold-out, 20CD boxset of archival material. That same year they
also issued ‘Ghosts I Have Been’, a crushingly bleak album inspired by Japanese mythology and ghost stories which have paved the way for this new one, where the band’s Patrick O’Neil and Mark Jameson continue to refine their instincts into the dankest brand of organic ambient noise.
In key with their ghostly Japanese muse, specifically the “Bakaneko” or “Ghost Cat” movies of the ‘50s and ‘60s, as well as the writing of Lafcadio Hearn aka Koizumi Yakumo - author of ‘Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things’ - Skin Crime’s music in ‘Traveller on the Road’ is all about presence and the suggestibility of hypnagogic and half-awake states. Their cold-fingered sleight of hand is applied to exceedingly fine layers of textural enigma in long, unbroken tracts that hold the listener’s gaze with frightening power.
‘Avoid Large Places At Night’ takes hold with intravenal potency, very subtly drawing eyes to half-mast with its mechanical womb-like ambience, and stealthily introducing subharmonic rumbles
and peripheral rustles that suggest unseen spectres lurking in a thicket of ghosts. A lack of sudden movement only ratchets the threat levels to seat-edge. Likewise with its deeply soporific subs
and texturhythms, the B-side’s ‘Black Cat From The Grove’ continues to numb the senses in a noise style, but eviscerated of all open aggression, preferring a dense mode of suggestion that only emphasises the unheimlich nature of their music.
It’s a masterclass in saying it without saying it, and effectively amounts to a missing link between Kevin Drumm, Painjerk and Mika Vainio, or even Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement and Meitei, that should not be missed by any fans of the above.

After a one year sabbatical on the label imprint Amond enters a new path to the peak of Mind Everest and delivers an outstanding five track EP called Fluent State. The release is another debut of one of the crews members and filled with playful synthesizer melodies, emotive arpeggio loops and stumbling, tape distorted low fidelity tunes. Each release comes in a black screenprinted sleeve with an embossed photographic fine art print by Katrin Koenning.

Mysterious trio Mount Kismet are dropping debut single ‘Teenage Fantasy’ on Oct 11th, and their debut album “Warmer Lanes” on Nov 15th via Disco Halal.
Strung together by the dark, alluring vocals of French-Canadian artist C.A.R., the 1st single, ‘Teenage Fantasy’ combines sparse, synth-driven cold wave with the kind of Middle Eastern electronic elements that have become synonymous with Disco Halal. The track will feature alongisde 9 other tracks on Warmer Lanes.
Based between Berlin and London, Mount Kismet is a project driven by an eastern music obsession and a taste for the heavy pulse of drum machines and the rumbling of analog synthesisers. The group’s only other release, the track ‘Prunes & Dunes’, was included in Perfect Strangers, a ‘various artists’ compilation put out on Disco Halal last year.
An established artist in her own right, C.A.R. has previously collaborated with the likes of Maceo Plex, Red Axes and Bawrut.

It's been around three years since JPattersson opened up a whole new horizon of formerly unheard possibilities between the worlds of Dub and Techno. A lot has been happening ever since, and that's very noticeable on his second album. It still has all the signature elements of JPattersson: There's his dreamy, virtuous trumpet play and his witty vocals, there's his dubby delays and heavyweight beats which often line up in a Downbeat rhythm. However, besides his fanfares there's now also many folks, many musical friends who contribute to the vibe of this album. There's a track with Berlin MC Longfingah, latin-flavoured rhythms from Polish Reggae and Dancehall producer Dreadsquad as well as a stylistically wide range of remixes that reflect the symbiotic cooperation and mutual inspiration of these last years.

Shot in Iceland, the video “Forever Love“ was directed by her best friend, visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and the director, Allan Sigurðsson.

“The music I’d been writing over the years was a very personal affair, something I did for emotional and spiritual survival,” says Kristín Anna. As for the album title, “It just came to me, and then I went about my business, being an imperfect human being, my own centre, within this divine order we call the universe.”

Kristín Anna is a founding member of the band múm. In 2006, began performing her piano songs along with more experimental electronic music under the alias Kría Brekkan. Living and working in her native country Iceland since 2010, her creative outlet took the shape of performance and visual art, where she collaborated with Shoplifter and Guy Maddin, performing and composing for their installations. In 2012, she performed in Ragnar Kjartansson´s acclaimed video installation The Visitors, and has since worked on many of his pieces, variably composing, performing or acting. Most recently, they wrote the song “On Death” for Sophie Calle’s LP and art project Souris Calle. In 2015, Kristín Anna released HOWL, an improvised vocal ambient album and art work created in Mojave desert.

Ragnar Kjartansson, founder of Bel-Air Glamour adds, “Kristín Anna is an artist like no other. Kristín roams the earth weaving a thread of her life, her loves, her dreams into this confessional gem of an album. The music is a reflection of life lived away from the norms banging old pianos and celebrating a conflicted lust for life. I Must Be The Devil is a cycle of songs written in the last 15 years and recorded in the last four years. This is a big record full of deep truths, suffering, irony and beauty. Unique songs by a unique artist. Yes this is real, this is good old mysterious talent. The record was produced and financed by her friends in the music and visual art scene. She is an artist’s artist.”

'CHARMER' is the debut artist album from CLAPTONE. In the last few years, Claptone has become known for releasing big tracks primed for late nights and packed clubs all over the world. Charmer however fuses his signature house sound with a more eclectic aesthetic, featuring guest appearances from Peter, Bjorn & John, Nathan Nicholson (The Boxer Rebellion), Young Galaxy, Jay-Jay Johanson and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah amongst others.

'Charmer' will drop following a packed Summer touring schedule which reaches all corners of the globe and follows the run-away success of Claptone's remix for Gregory Porter, a tune which has become this Summer's biggest Ibiza anthem! 'Charmer' will be released via Different Recordings - the label that launched the careers of Crystal Castles, Tiga, Crystal Fighters and Vitalic.

Be With Records and Emotional Rescue team up to present a special release of US jazz vocal group Rare Silk and their cult song, Storm.

A diggers cut for many years, more recently it's become an algorithm "hit". Presented here as a stand-alone limited 10" release, the song is backed by a spellbinding echo-drenched remix by New York's exemplary electronic sonic explorer, Arp.

Originally formed when sisters MaryLynn and Gaile Gillaspie met Marquerite Juenemann in southern California in the late '70s, with the arrival of Teddy Buffa the trio quickly expanded to a four-part harmony vocal group. Signed to Polydor, they rose to prominence over the ensuing decade with the release of three albums that gained them multiple Grammy nominations.

Taken from their 1985 album American Eyes, Storm is based on a Stanley Turrentine song of the same name, from his 1971 album Salt Song. With additional vocals written by MaryLynn, as with much of their music -underpinned as it is by an otherworldly exotica - the artisanal, crafted care of the instrumental and vocal arrangements, featuring lush, rich phrasing, is evident in their exquisite reading of the song.

When deciding how best of present the song it seemed right to ask a favourite of both labels. Having appeared on Emotional Response in 2017/18, Alexis Georgopoulos returned to his Arp project with last years' much-heralded Zebra album on Mexican Summer. Stripping out the vocals, the remaining instrumental is rearranged, rebuilt and then soaked in heavy tape echo. The result is a discerning dub to act as the perfect accompaniment.

A Vision Of Panorama continues his synth exploration, expanding his vision towards new synthesizer motifs and dreamy chords on a vast array of late night cosmic g-funk grooves, modern funk and boogie inspired tracks. This time covers a different spectrum of sounds and atmospheres which merge to form a harmonious whole that can stands on territories of accomplished future soul, jazz and funk. Distinctly deeper and visibly more emotive deep house than just a technique of smooth Balearic instrumentation.

Alex Albrecht returns to the Analogue Attic imprint this October under his Melquíades guise; delivering a five-track package in the shape of 'Lanterns'.

Albrecht explains "The concept is a continuation of my last release with AAR and aims to take the listener on a journey to a strange place - Falling asleep, it leads one down a rainy, lantern-lit path and into another world.
At the end of the record, the listener is finally awoken by a familiar voice."

All of the compositions are improvised explorations with field recordings at their core as the framework.
'Lanterns Pt. 1 & Pt. 2' lead, easing you into the project with swirling, hazy atmospherics and ethereal piano melodies floating atop rounded subs and soft percussion.
'Neon Canal' follows, bringing the rhythm to the forefront whilst bubbling bell chimes, warm chords and expansive delays ebb and flow within.
Up next is ‘Cockatoo Horizon’ a Balearic tinged cut employing off-kilter organic percussion, soft guitar licks and airy atmospherics before 'Embers ft. James Harbard' strips things back to floaty chords, bumpy drums and jazzy guitar melodies subtly unfolding throughout.
'Federation Bells' then rounds out the release on beatless tip, laid out over six minutes with otherworldly tones, melancholic piano chords and textural

John Talabot and Pional bring back their Lost Scripts project to start a series of 12" with some of the jams the duo has been recording during these past years between Barcelona, Madrid and Giske. The release comes housed in a sleeve by Arnau Pi.

Stockholm-based audiophile bar Hosoi launches label with a rare release from Sweden’s HNNY.

Debuting on Studio Barnhus in 2011, HNNY aka Johan Cederberg quickly became one of house music’s most talked about artists with a signature sample driven style, making appearances on labels like Let’s Play House, Local Talk, Omena and his own label Puss (co-founded alongside Kornél Kovács). However, 2016 saw HNNY beginning a hiatus from touring as well as releasing music. Now Cederberg helps launch Hosoi Recordings.

Based in Stockholm, Hosoi is a listening bar with a focus on sound quality boasting custom-built KRS speakers, a hand built Condesa mixer and high-end Technics turntables. Many influential artists have passed through Hosoi —including Dip In The Pool, John Talabot, Young Marco, Kate NV and Wolf Muller & Niklas Wandt —both to share their music and to be part of such a vibrant space. It is the only venue where HNNY has continued mixing music regularly as a sole resident, curating the ‘Music For Listening’ series - a Sunday hangout for Stockholm’s discerning music lovers.

Releasing music created with its room in mind, Hosoi will put out live recordings and compilations from the bar’s favourites and it only made sense that close friend HNNY kick starts proceedings. ‘By’ nostalgically suspends the listener in time with looped female vocals, gentle guitar melodies and patterned hip hop beats.

Meanwhile on the flip, ‘Hosoi’ is coloured with twinkling keys which delightfully run over the top of lush chords sitting atop a bed of jazz percussion. Vinyl crackling throughout evokes the sound of spinning wax heard at the stylish venue.

The queen of the scene brings 2 tracks of gorgeous, emotional, disco-inspired deep house in the vein of her sought-after 2013 Argot release. Already getting played by Derrick Carter, Mike Servito, and more. 300 w/ menu insert.

Exactly one year after their sold-out debut album Zest, Die Orangen (aka Dreems & Kris Baha) are zurück! Malka Tuti and Die Orangen have concocted a double dish, a two part remix package, Saft 1 & Saft 2.

The first part consists of a new live version of the track Yaranabe, recorded in a live session as part of the Duo's infamous analogue live act. A2 is Tapan's remix of Metal Man. The poem-not-poem is taking shape as a low bpm banger when Tapan's heavy signature kick meets those trippy vocals. This is Tapan's first track to be made after finishing their debut Album last year on MT, and its an interesting evolution of their sound, slow dark and punchy, yet with these vocals and bassline, also a catchy post-pop track for the later hours.

On the B-side lies Gordon Pohl's reimagination of Mersey River (aka 'the Platypus track'). The tracks 'epic", long slow ambient opening and evolution into rhythm resembles in many ways the psychedelic collaboration works of the late Pete Namlook & Move D on Namlooks own Fax records, which was always a significant influence on the Malka Tuti world.

Reissue of Ex-Terrestrial's debut EP lands comfortably on Temple. Resting somewhere between the inner and outer, Paraworld is the space for thoughtful and reflective explorations. Recommended for lovers of that Chillbient™ sound.

It was about time for a full album to be released by one of our favourite 030303 artists, the great Rolando Simmons, who's already fed us some amazing eerie and psychedelic bouncy electronic funk, both self released and on this magical label from the Netherlands. This record travels deep into the melancholic mind of the producer and on a wide variety of levels. Opening track Natron gets you right away with an unusual mix of comforting and uneasy atmospheric acid-electro. Dew then, is so touching it hurts - in a classic IDM way that is, with plenty of meandering melodies falling over each other; nothing short of epic this one. Hydrogen Line shows yet another very different side of Simmons, one where fierce, dark and heavy Drexciyan techno/electro vibes reign over your speakers. The heaviest raver on the record is probably Langelo, with the listener being slapped around by sharp, heavy bass wobbles and hard hitting snares, not one for the office! Lastly, closing track Smiley Face is likely to make you grin in a cross eyed kind of way with its intense, synth-heavy and mind bending vibes. Human Touch is an allround, 12 track treat for every braindance fan on the planet. Big tip!

Michael David is a musician from LA California best known as one half of Classixx. The sunshine drps off these three tracks. Melona is a blissed out summer jam with 80's guitar chords and sweet keyboard notes. One wish is a slower dubby groove while Two Voices chills out further for a real sunset melt. Chris Massey adds some weight to Melona giving ia slight nod to Shaker songs. Lovely ep all round

We are happily welcoming Jacob Groening to the Earthly Delights family,
a talented producer that has been on our radar for a while. Jacob comes
through with a very special 3 track EP, which will be our first ever vinyl
release. The EP features his unique sound that he masterfully integrates
into his live shows. Working more with musicians that he records at his
studio, he plays around with the recordings, taking it to the extremes
when it comes to cutting, pitching, warping. “...following my
intentional flow, not trying to force a specific sound. I am more listening
to what sounds are good to me and feel right.”
Jacob uses Prophet 12 a lot for the pads and most synthesized sounds in
EP, using the almighty moog voyager for the bass, recording percussion
and vocals. Most of the recordings are made with long-time friends and
other Berlin musicians. Noah Rott, who played the keys for Fask is Jacob’s
first Piano teacher from Hamburg and they have often collaborated since.
“Another very close friend of mine, Joel Silberkuhl, played the hang drum
for Fask and the guitar for Lacun. I visited him at his house in Luneburg in
northern Germany and we made music all day long. It brought us back to
our jam sessions when we were just 13 years old, playing reggae, hip hop,
jazz and rock...” Joining the release is a Canadian smooth vibes operator, Gab Rhome, who delivers a minimal melodic house vinyl only version
that's perfect to have on a 12”.
This EP interlines Jacobs friendships and experience making it a
heart-warming and truly personal release we are thrilled to share with
you !

Cult Berlin club night and label African Acid is the Future returns with the second release in their Ambiance trilogy. Taking listeners into the unique spirit of their club night. For their second release they offer a series of live recordings from the heat of the party itself.
The release features two tracks from both Les Filles de Illighadad and Edmony Krater as well as remixes from Dauwd, Maryisonacid and DJ Oil. Les Filles de Illighadad come from a secluded commune in central Niger, far off in the scrubland deserts at the edge of the Sahara. Best known for their guitar performances, this recording from AAITF finds them at their percussive best on the simply titled “Tende I” and “Tende II”. Edmony Krater is an avant-garde percussionist, singer and trumpet player, as well as a native of Guadeloupe. For his performance, Krater performs a duo of tracks separated by three decades, but united by Caribbean rhythms. “Gwadloup” was originally released in 1988 as part of the album “Edmony Krater Et Zepiss – Tijan Pou Velo,” while “Lagé” is taken from 2018’s album “Edmony Krater– An ka sonjé”
