You know Munk probably from the songs he did with James Murphy, Peaches, Asia Argento or one of many other indie disco tracks he released on his former label Gomma. Gomma now is sleeping and since Mathias Munk Modica started the Toy Tonics label with his friends Manu Kim & Mo Butschek he hasn’t released many things under that name. Instead has been playing keyboards, bass and drums on many tracks of other artists on the TT label. And of course has been building up the TT imprint from his new home in Berlin.
Now it’s summer and it felt right to put out a few balearic remixes reworks of Munk tracks. Beach party and daytime disco vibe. So here u get reworks of Munk’s friends Severino from Horse Meat Disco, Lauer, and Kai Alce from Detroit. Right for this summer.

New York collective Sheik 'N' Beik continue to expand an impressively developing catalogue adding to releases from Xamiga, Keita Saino and Jeffrey Scott with a fresh 12' from Voodoo Down Records owner and fellow Brooklynite N'conduit. Having utilised Voodoo Down as a platform for his own brand of rich, emotive House music N'conduit now dims the lights a tad in offering up 3 neatly reduced Techno tracks that meld dystopian drones with disquieting melodies and tough, swung drums.

'Echo Must Die' kicks things off with looming pads and glistening synth tones. A bold, punchy kick drives a purposeful march forwards whilst mangled computer FX pepper the high-end. Digital exclusive 'English Kills' then drives eerie vocal sweeps with tight drum shuffles and adroit sound design before 'Flaust In Paradise' renders a harsh landscape with metallic textures sitting atop a brutal, driving bass line.

chalo is a nascent interdisciplinary creative community and collaborative platform featuring the work of ethnically South Asian artists. With a long term aim to strengthen cross-cultural bonds by showcasing the vast breadth of talent within the community, the first volume features artists with heritage in Pakistan, India and Kashmir. Net proceeds from the compilation are going towards the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) and Zindagi Trust.

The first volume of chalo comprises of Pakistani and Indian artists across classical composers and underground hip-hop, visual artists and videographers, journalists and illustrators. It is a multi-tiered release featuring a video, podcast, print series and, most importantly, a music compilation.

Featuring an all-star cast of artists like that range from the cerebral (V.S Narasimhan), to editations on immigrant culture (Riz Ahmed), to post-modern pop (Kavya), to Kashmiri hip-hop (Ahmer), floating left-field electronica (Nabihah Iqbal) to meditative jazz (Sarathy Korwar) to tunes that will leave you sweating on the dance floor (MadstarBase), chalo vol. 1 showcases the diversity and musical range of South Asian artists. It dispels the notion that an often overlooked culture can be painted by one brush, a single narrative.

The compilation will be accompanied by a video piece that gives insight to the plight of artists of colour whilst also highlighting the unique cultural melting pot of influences. This ethos will be extended to an eight-episode podcast where discussions between artists from various parts of India and Pakistan will meditate on discussions of caste, class, politics, race and, amongst it all, the meaning of art. This will be released after the compilation’s launch on November 6th, with the album artwork by Shweta Sharma.

The net proceeds from the chalo project will be split between the Human Rights Law Network and Zindagi Trust which will contribute to the ongoing initiatives they are working on, including Rights to Food, Dalit Rights, Educational Reform, Women’s Justice and Empowerment.

The Garda Lake in the early 80ies is possibly not be the first place which pops up, when it comes to pivotal moments for European dance & club culture. Whilst most of Europe was dancing to more and more commercialized disco music, a handful of north Italian DJs were trying to find an alternative form of dance music embracing a spiritual and natural sound. Forward thinking club residents like DJ Mozart, DJ Rubens, Daniele Baldelli, Ebreo, Pery and Beppe Loda fused African and Brazilian music, Reggae, Ragga and Bhangra with Kraut-Rock, space disco, US funk or British new wave b-sides with a carefree and partly odd approach into their so-called “Afro/Cosmic Sound”. ecords were sped up or slowed down massively to create a slow-paced rancey journey somewhere between 90 and 110 beats per minute.

Pulsing, vocal-led club sounds meet dub-inflected, Afro-Latin percussion on Escape Plan, the second album by Swedish-born, New York-based multi-instrumentalist and producer, Thornato, coming soon on Wonderwheel Recordings. Thornato's latest full length features a formidable cross-continental cast of special guest vocalists, from Mexican electro-Latin dreamers, Sotomayor, Busy Twist member and Ghanaian powerhouse singer, Zongo Abongo to British Latin-folk minimalist and producer, El Búho. Produced over the last two years yet accelerated during lockdown, Escape Plan is the genesis of Queens-based, sonic voyageur and self-proclaimed 'sound-hoarder', Thor Partridge. Surrounded by traditional Greek, Caribbean, African music, at home in rural Sweden and eventually New York City, Partridge fell in love with sounds from all corners of the globe at an early age. Having trained classically in piano and guitar, Partridge became enveloped by the sounds of Dancehall, hip-hop and salsa pouring out from car speakers, shops and apartments on the streets of New York, before Partridge sought to go one step further and meet the people behind the music, spending time in Mali, India, Colombia and beyond, collecting field recordings, linking up with different groups out there, before diving into his own world of sound. "I was always interested in having a balance between more organic sounds and prerecorded sampled sound. I kept audio journals, I recorded conversations, I just wanted to record those special moments. I kept folders and folders of that stuff on my hard drive. Music has always been the centerpiece of it. As long as there is soul and connection, the recordings will carry themselves". Having learnt his chops DJ'ing at Bembe, a legendary global music hangout in Brooklyn, Partridge took up production, initially putting out bootleg remixes and edits, before redirecting his efforts towards nurturing his own sound and style. A period spent linking with different labels (ZZK Records, Man Recordings) and producers, MCs he met on his travels abroad and in New York, led him to releasing his debut album Bennu in 2017, an international melding of global psych beats, balearic trance and West African drumming, featuring Polaris-Prize winning Colombian breakout star, Lido Pimienta and New York staple The Spy From Cairo, picked up by renowned producer and DJ, Nickodemus and released via his label and "family", Wonderwheel Recordings. Part inspired by a recent trip to Ecuador (to work with Afro-Esmeraldan ensemble, Grupo Taribo), part determined to dig into his vast archive of recordings with the free time presented during lockdown, his new album Escape Plan is a kaleidoscopic 10-track collection of vocal-led, dancefloor-energising productions made by Partridge since Bennu, that you'll be wishing you could hear on a big club sound system. However, the central theme Partridge kept circling back to was this idea of an "Escape Plan", a concept he encouraged the vocalists to explore within their lyrics. "I feel like I've lived in the city my whole life. As I've got older, I've noticed I've become really rundown by the congestion, the pollution, the concrete. I was born in rural Sweden, I feel like the core of who I am really resonates with nature and so when I was doing the album, I was thinking so much about my physical and philosophical escape plan. I think it was a tension within me, and really wanting to bust out and that energy led to the tunes just coming out unconsciously better for the dancefloor". From the hypnotic trance-like Andean bounce of Out Here to the club-ready, twisted techno anthem La Niña Grande, featuring fellow Wonderwheel artist, Sotomayor, Escape Plan is full of richly absorbing and disparate layers. The glorious and beguiling instrumental and heavy 60s cumbia-inspired stomp of Break Away, is lively and conversational, whilst the galloping psychedelic old western meets slow house Fairuz of Yahawa featuring KarenBe & El Búho, and the uplifting, kora-led minimalism of The Fairest featuring Dancehall MC, Jahdan Blakkamore, drive the energy levels higher and higher. Whilst Partridge's "Escape Plan" out of NYC to the Catskill Mountains later this year is bang on track, his latest album might just provide the soundtrack to the rest of us hatching our own routes out of these crazy times.

A four-track EP made of disco elements with jackin and house influenced grooves.

Few within dance music culture can truly claim to have developed their own distinctive, sharply defined sound. Sacred Rhythm founder Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell is one such artist, as is emphatically proved by the stunning remixes he’s prepared of Hillside’s ‘Walpole Days’ for Claremont 56. Claussell’s trademark-take on dance music is richly spiritual, frequently referencing the tribal drums and distinctive polyrhythms associated with African music, the free-spirited Afro-futurism of jazz, the soulful release of gospel and the celebratory rush of NYC disco. Throw in a genuine love of live instrumentation and a decidedly cosmic musical outlook and you have a style that’s very much his own.



Many of these trademark elements are evident on his versions of ‘Walpole Days’, a typically warm, evocative and musically detailed chunk of near horizontal Balearic jazz-funk from Paul ‘Mudd’ Murphy, Alex Searle and Patrick Dawes’ Hillside project. The trio’s original version boasts all manner of intricate musical touches – eyes-closed electric piano solos, ear-catching and infectious hand percussion, spacey analogue synthesizer sounds and fluid piano flourishes, for starters – giving Claussell plenty to play with. The New York-based DJ/producer makes the most of it on the epic ‘Sacred Rhythm Mix’ version, an 11-minute peak-time epic that just increases in energy and intensity throughout. Opening with reverb-laden piano solos, he crafts an organic deep house groove out of Dawes’ percussion, echoing snippets of guitar, Searle’s warm bass and his own polyrhythmic programmed drums. As the track progresses, Claussell continually beefs up the groove, adding weighty kick-drums and layering more percussion on top of Hillside’s electric piano sounds and spacey synths. It’s little less than a masterclass in warm and spiritual deep house.



Claussell isn’t finished there though, and those who love extra-percussive, driving house music should check his second rework, the ‘Sacred Rhythm Hornsdrums Version’. Destined to inspire a frenzy of sweaty, loose-limbed dancing, it’s a dancefloor dub built around little more than drums, ultra-energetic percussion solos, trippy effects, driving bass and, in the track’s latter stages, echo-laden horns and electric piano riffs. It’s breathlessly brilliant and, like his A-side rework, one of the best remixes Claremont 56 has released to date.

It sees the UK producer move into sleek, pulsating deep afro latin grooves with modulated delayed space jazzy roads & double bass. DJ EFX aka Raul Recinos one of the most respected deep house producers since 1987.

He did best releases for label Strictly Rhythm and worked with producers like Aquatherium, Mateo & Matos, DJ Rasoul, Aural Imbalance and many more. Archivators records proud present his spiritual house track Gravity. EP bring unforgettable impressions & inspiration for mind, body & soul.

“Sex Miami”. Let those words melt into your soul like creamy, creamy pink ice cream in on your tongue. This album by Deux Control is a smooth genre crossover paradise of 808s, Yamaha keyboards and deep mesmerizing vocals side by side with more hardcore synth elements found in bands like DAF or Nitzer Ebb.

Deux control’s sound is a mix your favourite soundtracks of electronic music with a large portion of body synth. It is sexy, cool, and a bit frightening. The music on “Sex Miami” is familiar and goes out to all listeners of all ages but especially to those in the French/Italian disco fandom out there. This is the kind of music an eighties international business traveller would listen when kicking back and clubbing after landing a fat new contract.

Deux control is the act that got bumped from the Miami Vice soundtrack last minute because being a bit to edgy for mainstream USA. They are the group that Gorigio Moroder tried to copy when he wanted to update his sound. Deux Control are the new rulers of psychedelic electric body-disco!

Timothy J Fairplay is back on the label with a 7” single containing two tracks cut from a rock of uranium. “Pathfinder Theme” and “UFO’s Over China” might differ in sound and tempo but are connected by a radiant feeling. The two tracks bathes in a greenish/yellow bright toxic aura.

This plutonium charged music carries with it some quality elements known from his earlier repertoire like for example a primitive yet crisp beat working as foundation to a few but very exquisite synth sounds.

Timothy J. Fairplay stands on the shoulders of past Italian masters and the works of John Carpenter but with an accentuated alien feel. Something otherworldly, maybe good, maybe harmful, is hidden in the vibe on both sides of this 7”. The balance between good and evil is very even - yin/yang from outer space!

Throughout music history a few bands and artists have succeeded in creating their own universes for their on stage-personas and music to evolve within. Ultra Satan is one of those bands: in their anti-rock, packed with rock aesthetic in a classic DIY-format, you find a distinct but also defiant concept which frames the bands revolutionary and anarchistic output. You could say that Ultra Satan has created an own space to be unpredictable within.

Golden Bug and Peaking Lights, friends with and released on Höga Nord Rekords, have made remixes of Ultra Satans second 7” and the result bares traces of Patrick Cowley, Brian Enos World Music explorations and some hints of dub. The lonely reverberating and echoing guitars contribute to the apocalyptic vibe that comes clear to you in these remixes - Golden Bug and Peeking Lights have both drag out more darkness of the songs than you get in the original versions. Still, none of the polyrhythmic excellence of the original versions is lost in the process - you can still dance through the apocalypse.

Ultra Satan is one of few concept bands today that manages not to be ridiculous or pretentious and always stays on the right side of the abyss, not falling in, getting eaten by darkness. The good always wins in the end!

For BBE Music’s landmark 500th release, the label joins forces with Louie Vega, Leroy Burgess and Patrick Adams to revisit ‘Barely Breaking Even’, the iconic track after which the label is named. Coaxed into the studio together by BBE founder Peter Adarkwah, Grammy winning House music hero Louie Vega, arranger extraordinaire and New York disco royalty Patrick Adams, plus the song’s original writer (and king of boogie) Leroy Burgess soon got to work. Even given the caliber of those involved in this special session, the results are simply exceptional. Featuring live strings by The Apple Hill String Quartet arranged by Adams and Burgess, Vega’s ‘Boogie Mix’ stays faithful to the Universal Robot Band original, with potent vocal performances and a tough new groove for 2019. It was at the string recording session for the boogie version that Louie Vega unveiled his 'NYC House Mix' to the assembled musicians, at which point he and Leroy Burgess quickly arranged a brand new horn section and re-wrote the song’s melody to compliment the track’s accelerated pace. What the team emerged with is so much more than a remix- it’s a unified call-back to two golden eras; that of disco-boogie and that of New York House. We are super pleased to welcome back Dan Only with a brand new EP on Dirt Crew. Since last year’s debut record “The Wurly Chronicles” Dan has been super busy in the studio working on his sound, experimenting with many genres outside of House. This EP is the product of many late hours in the studio that translate into his unique touch on a wider spectrum of electronic music.

On The A-side you will find that deep and warm House sound we got to know Dan for when we first crossed paths. “Someday” is an exploration into the feeling of hopefulness and uncertainty that comes with looking towards a future state that is unknown. It’s steered by AHKI's bouncing bassline and the chord progression that it inspired. “All That’s Left (Piano Dub Mix)” has a driving groove with a slow reveal. This one carefully unmasks itself and shows its true colors towards the tail-end, leaving you with “All That’s Left”.

The B-side of this 12” is all about breaks, electro, and jungle inspired tunes. The opener “Emulsion” is a balance between light and dark, soft and hard, speeding up and slowing down. The rhythm section drives this one forward, but the melodic elements are slowly pulling back at it, leaving you somewhere in the middle. It's a musical attempt of trying to mix oil into water and having one float on top of the other. "An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible."

“What I Want” comes armed with an S950 and an MS20 – this one is a deep dive into the methods of making break-tinged music of the 90s. Brooding bass-lines and atmospheric melodies take you through the dark Canadian winter months when this was created. Closing with “Breathe”, expect waves of euphoria and gated mantras that'll pull you in and out until a state of bliss washes over you. Let the 909 and bubbling 101 carry you to shore. This one pairs well with deep breathing.

MOTHER RECORDINGS kicks off 2020 and make big moves with youngsters YINGYANG (UK) and REN PHILLIPS. Both linking up for some serious dance floor destruction on their new two track single. The pair have collaborated to great effect recently on the likes of Jacky & Friends and Solardo s Sola imprint.


Harlem Shake is lively house with sleazy bass, big synths and a bristling sense of party and atmosphere that really pumps any club. It has slick production values and a mad lead that is full of fun.


Flashback is a track that gets you ducking and diving with its turbo bass and great female vocals. The whole thing is a really characterful and explosive cut. This is a standout EP from this duo.

Philly's home-grown edit kings Superprince drop some serious brotherly love in their first outing for RNT. Release info: Round up part IV marks the end of year 4 of Heist Recordings and it might be our most varied release yet with some serious Afro funk from Switzerland, electronic soul from Italy, proper old school deep house from the UK and some Dutch guys adding a bit of swing to the package. For those unfamiliar with our annual concept release: The Round Up is a release where each artist that has released this year gets remixed by another Heist artist from that same year. We put all the names in a big hat, and draw straws. The result: 6 different remixes from 6 of the most intriguing original tracks of the year, in a deluxe 180 gram 2x12 pack. Fouk had the honor to rework one of the most euphoric tracks ever to come out on Heist and certainly one of Nachtbraker's most party-oriented tracks ever: Hamdi. They flipped the original into a rhodesy afro-tinged jam filled with lovely bleeps and fx and some great work on the keys. The DS remix of Parker Madicine's Heartbreaker is just as dreamy as it is driving, making full use of their synth-cave with an ever-evolving Moog bassline and some great pads on the Arp Odyssey. Alma Negra's Blacksoul remix of Nebraska's Big Plate Chicken takes the full B side and rightly so. The African drums, chants and looped sampling the original's bleeps give a great groove, but the track really comes alive when the bassline kicks in. The second 12 gives room for Nachtbraker's Swing mix of Can't Hold it, where he lets loose a trippy, sample heavy track with a dustier ambience than your grandmother's living room. Turn it over and you'll find Parker Madicine jazzing up Afrorleans and Nebraska throwing in a classic deep house touch on his remix for Fouk.

Debut release in a new 12" series from MUSIC FOR DREAMS and mastermind KENNETH BAGER. Two brilliant and brand new tracks coming out of the flourishing Copenhagen club scene. BJARNO & JESPER RUMMENIGGE remix American singer/songwriter SHELLEY SHORT’s acoustic cover of the old folk song "COO COO BIRD" (originally done for a label compilation from HUSH RECORDINGS in 2008. A poetic and beautifully melancholic track that could be filed under deep house as well as indie dance. Backed with "I HATE HATE (SANTIGA ORIGINAL MIX)" by RAZZY BAILEY. After some serious crate digging, SANTIGA & BJARNO came across "I HATE HATE", recorded by Alabama singer/songwriter RAZZY back in 1974. Immediately falling in love with the message and hook of the song, they decided to polish it up, giving it a sun-drenched, Balearic disco-feel perfectly suited for the summer dance floor. You hear the words 'anthem' and 'tune' thrown around a lot these days, but this truly is one.

Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik are seeking to discover new grounds and sounds, and to record local musicians, indigenous instruments and present workshops for youth music schools.

In March of 2017, the Israeli duo touched down in Africa for the first time, and set up camp in both Ethiopia and Ivory Coast, yielding In Africa, a triple header EP which features three slices of contemporary body music, with both East and West African musical motifs.

The project will always present a musical release, on vinyl and digital, that was created on the trip, accompanied with a documentary, showing the whole journey.

The Music;
A1 sees Red Axes and seven-piece Ivorian band, Yakomin, intertwine mechanical drum-machine passages with breathing, live percussion and recordings of instruments indigenous to the West African costal region. Amuse's dusty, afrofunk-leaning synths pair excellently with the celebratory singing and rhythms by students from Abidjan's Insaac Music School. Addis Sababa's overdriven, analog electronics escort lesser-known wind and plucked instruments to the sunny finish line. in trademark Red Axes style.

The Film;
An accompanying documentary by Nimrod Von Keren, entitled TRIPS #1 - Africa, is soon to be unveiled, which showcases the magic moments behind this first-of-many, transcontinental, nonstandard collaborative experiences.

The Show;
On August 23rd, we will present a one of a kind performance with 3 of the amazing musicians we worked with in Ivory Coast, from the band Yakomin. The show will happen at "Sacred Music Festival" in Jerusalem, and this is the most amazing closure, the band and Red Axes could have dreamed of. The artists will prepare a special set up of tracks recorded together, and new organic interpretations for their biggest tracks

Storage Find! Limited & last batch of Helsinki band Jesse's third album from 2012 that was never properly distributed internationally. Always steady, but irregularly tipping over to the obscure while always applying stains of disco, house, outernational elements, funk, humour and even pub rock. Summer Rains is the debut EP from producer, beat-smith, and multi-instrumentalist Finn Irregular. Originally from North London, moving to Australia in 2014 saw Finn find a creative home within the vibrant city of Melbourne, (Naarm).

Taking influence from across the spectrums of jazz, hip-hop, broken beat and R'n'B; his fresh and modern production style employs analogue synths, drum machines, and live instrumentation to create an EP rich in texture, united by the theme of positive summer vibrations.

Title track ‘Summer Rains’ is formed of two sections - day & night. After the unmistakeable introduction, good friend and collaborator, Rara Zulu, effortlessly showcases her expressive but soothing vocals with a cheerfully wistful throwback to remembering the summer rains. Transitioning to ‘night’ Cazeuax O.S.L.O. executes his trademark poetic flow, teleporting you under the starts to the scene of a late night beach jam.

Following in coherent succession, ‘Waves’ is a downtempo instrumental house track. A constant ebb and flow of arpeggiated synths and lush pads capture, and turn you within the ocean swell.

‘Stationed In The Sky’ blends the work of an analogue drum machine with deep bass and jazzy chords. Anchored by a sweet-yet-purposeful rap from Hayku Kyah, it segues into a chorus that lifts into a cascading symphony of lush vocals by CD, neatly demonstrating another side to Finn’s diverse and unique production style.

Rounding of the EP is ‘Find A Way.’ Featuring the calming vocals of Rara Zulu, it’s an exuberant commingle of neo-soul and R’n’B, maintaining a vibrant sense of nostalgia with Finn’s contained production and Rara’s stylized delivery.

Swedish producer HNNY (real name Johan Cederberg) releases his debut album 'Sunday' on Omena Records, a label set up by Tobias 'Tooli' Lidstrom.

The ten track debut album continues an ongoing partnership between HNNY and Omena Records that started in April 2014 when the 12" 'Always' was released which also marked the starting point of the label.

Sunday is released as a 180 g vinyl edition in gatefold sleeve.

Smoove & Turrell have never been scared of a gamble or two and over the course of their career, and their latest album - 'Stratos Bleu' marked some of the biggest stylistic changes to date. Though long lauded as one of the UK's top bands in funk and soul circles, their album was a decidedly rawer analogue affair drawing on influences as diverse as Detroit techno, Bristol bass as well as the party starting breakbeat funk they are so well known for.
Hitting #1 position in the Official UK Dance Charts on release week and grabbing the Album of the Day accolade from BBC 6 Music proved the band were entirely right. Given the strength of the source material it was only right to issue a remixes album on the project and there was no shortage of producers lining up to get involved.

Dance luminaries including Ray Mang, Ashley Beedle, Steve Cobby and Fouk all signed on immediately. So it, made sense to put together their fine interpretations on a disco house focused vinyl. Originally issued in 1977 on Motown, 'I was born this way' sees the reverend Carl Bean singing out on behalf of the gay community, preaching an uplifting and soulful message of acceptance. Bean was known as one of the founders of Unity Fellowship Church Movement in LA - a haven and religious space for LGBTQ people of colour and for his admirable and tireless work with people suffering with AIDS. The track was naturally a huge Disco hit and eventually became an all-time classic in the house world via the deft sampling of the roof-raising melodies in tracks such as Pal Joey / Earth People's 'Dance' and more. Moplen's sublime and contemporary dubs reference and respect the track's dancefloor heritage, updating this classic in the way only he knows how. Another new essential from the WE catalogue.
