A year after Red Axes’s musical adventures took them through the sounds and scenes of Africa, they return with a second EP in the Trips series that finds them exploring the rich rhythms of Vietnam.

This project is a multi media venture combining music, film and travel in pursuit of extra ordinary collaborations. It finds the esteemed pair made up of Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik explore local cultures and traditions, link up with local musicians and record them playing indigenous instruments as well as presenting workshops for youth music schools. It comes after the Garzen Records bosses have established their unique mix of synths, guitars and genres as diverse as house, acid and leftfield experimentalism on vital labels from Phantasy to Dark Entries.

Opener ‘Ho Chi Minh’ is a brisling track with funky bass loops and the hustle and bustle of a market square infusing the organic house grooves. Local percussion, jazz keys and vocal coos all add to the richness of this most uplifting beat. ‘Hanoi’ is even more exotic thanks to the enchanting lead vocal, jungle bird calls and low slung bass, while ‘Phu Quoc’ gets more rave, with phased bass riding up and down there sale, an intoxicating lead line that sounds something like a didgeridoo and a manic synth that darts about the mix with disorienting effects. Closer ‘Hue’ is a blissful and almost Balearic beat with a shimmering lead melody line and layer upon layer of wind instruments, claps and hits that speak directly to your soul.

The accompanying film captures the essence of the trip, shows some of the recording sessions and local life in Vietnam, from beach parties to incense rituals via communal dances in public spaces, all of which inspired and infuse this record. As such it is a fantastically colourful and immersive EP that takes you to the other side of the world with real authenticity.

Mothball Record in association with Bordello A Parigi is proud to present one of the strangest and most mysterious recordings from the whole Italo-Disco era. Sitting somewhere between goth, italo and new wave, “Space Melody” is a dedication to ancient Egypt and outer space.
The original EP was almost totally lost to the sands of time, until recently the original mastertape was unearthed by the artist and later painstakingly transferred by Rude 66.

The record is completed by new instrumental versions from the Danish Italo king Flemming Dalum and the Spanish italo duo Futuro.

A new Cardiology must mean more surefire disco, boogie and funk heat given an artful nudge, nip n' tuck. These four pearlers will be thoroughly useful tools in your utility belt, leading in with the singalong hook of "Only You Baby" which sports a healthy dose of boogie synth work. "You" by way of contrast is a strictly organic funker looped up to perfection. "Got To Dance" takes the tempo down but piles on the groove for this heavy dose of soul, and then "Fever" takes things out on a rolling trip of percussion and classic licks that'll have you sweating in no time at all.

A&R Edits Revisited is a new series of 12” EPs from Greg Wilson’s vinyl-only label. Drawing from its diverse back catalogue, this new series sees the label re-issuing some of its evergreen classics, presented for the first time as four-track EPs, each showcasing the work of four different producers. Re-launched in the late summer of last year, A&R Edits has re-established itself as one of the authorities in the re-edits scene.

Between 2013-15 the label released edits and reworks from Henry Greenwood, Derek Kaye, Sophie Lloyd, Fingerman, Peza and Twisted Soul Collective – gifting them a platform to further their reach whilst servicing the continued growth of the scene. After four years of activity, it lay dormant for another four and returned in 2019 with the GW & Henry reworks of El Coco’s smooth grooving esoteric disco cut ‘Mondo Disco’ and Marshall Hain’s brooding Balearic treasure ‘Dancing In The City’. Whilst 2020 saw a follow-up in the form of Moplen’s edit of Tavares’ classic disco stomper ‘It Only Takes A Minute’ coupled with Greg Wilson’s edit of Moplen’s edit of Larry Levan’s mix of David Joseph’s ‘You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me)’, if you can follow all that!

The label will continue to release new material via this original series and now will be introducing its older material back into the mix with a new series. A&R Edits Revisited #1 will feature Henry Greenwood’s electrically charged rework of Neneh Cherry’s 1988 classic ‘Buffalo Dance’; Peza’s delicate yet driving update on The Blackbyrds’ slice of sunshine, ‘Walking In Rhythm’; Derek Kaye’s lively reinterpretation of The Player’s Association’s 1979 disco stomper ‘Turn The Music Up’; and Sophie Lloyd’s bass-heavy revision of Herb Alpert’s much-sampled groove, ‘Rise’. A&R Edits hopes to bring some light to the darkness of modern times with these updated gems from our shared musical history. Having inspired audiences in the past, they can now serve to inspire a new generation of music lovers.

Though Moving Vision is the fourth EP the Japanese producer-and-DJ has released on Yore, it arrives more than four years after the appearance of Tokyo Connection and five after City Soul and Butterfly - even more his return to Yore keeps bursting with fresh energy. A powerful, seven-minute argument on behalf of Kez YM's sound, 'Extended Sunset' bolts from the gate with a steamy house pulse that oozes soul and splendour in equal measure, and luscious synth chords and funky bass lines add significantly to the music's allure. Much as he's done in the past, Yamaguchi threads crowd noises into 'Moon Light Leaves,' a move that bolsters its party spirit and 'live' club feel. In a cut that's even more resplendent than 'Extended Sunset,' the producer works vocal accents and acid-techno boogie into the tune's charging house pulse. Unbelievably, the roaring throb of the third Track 'Weekend,' which pushes the EP's hard-charging vibe to an even higher level. Rounding out the twenty-five-minute release the 4th Track, 'Fixer' that's no less steamy as the track turns out as a pure feverish dancefloor monster powered by South American rhythms, percussion, and horns. Kez YM easily proves that he hasn't lost his touch.

For his first EP ever, Master Flashhh carved 5 beautiful tracks of analogue funkiness, drawing inspiration from drifting in Georgia, solitary walks alongside the ocean in Finist?re Brittany or recording his neighbors banging behind the wall.

Chomp! Chomp! is a new label by Brooklyn based DJ/producers Timo Lee and Mark Chittom. Together they are long-standing members of the dance music community, both in Hawaii at DJ Harvey's Thirtyninehotel and in Brooklyn at Good Room. The label's focus is eclectic dance music created by underground dance producers, aimed at DJ’s and casual fans alike. The first EP - Chomp! Chomp! presents the debut of Golden Mammals - a collaboration between Eric from America and Chittom. Eric is a multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer with a unique style that pulls from a variety of genres. He is also an active drummer for TV Baby (with members of A.R.E. Weapons), as well as several other bands in New York and past projects in Hawaii. The EP has three original tracks and a remix. "An Hour a Day with You” blends acid house and techno with an obscure leftfield vocal by Chittom. The remix is a dubby techno slow-burner that will work in a variety of settings. On the other side, with two tracks by Eric from America, "At the Met Gala" & "For the Crowd” are two groovy techno-ish tracks with Eric’s unique touches - both are dancefloor and living room friendly. Originally a part of 'Harvey’s Tales from the Nocturne', this EP comes off the shelf for a special Halloween release, led by the title track 'Zombie Sex Dream' which features vocals by original band member Tara Selleck and is accompanied by a demented video directed by bandmate Sam Fox.

Red Axes are very excited to present the first part of their new project called: "Trips", a multi media venture combining music, film and travelling across the globe in pursuit of extra ordinary collaborations.

Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik are seeking to discover new grounds and sounds, and to record local musicians, indigenous instruments and present workshops for youth music schools.

In March of 2017, the Israeli duo touched down in Africa for the first time, and set up camp in both Ethiopia and Ivory Coast, yielding In Africa, a triple header EP which features three slices of contemporary body music, with both East and West African musical motifs.

The project will always present a musical release, on vinyl and digital, that was created on the trip, accompanied with a documentary, showing the whole journey.

The Music;
A1 sees Red Axes and seven-piece Ivorian band, Yakomin, intertwine mechanical drum-machine passages with breathing, live percussion and recordings of instruments indigenous to the West African costal region. Amuse's dusty, afrofunk-leaning synths pair excellently with the celebratory singing and rhythms by students from Abidjan's Insaac Music School. Addis Sababa's overdriven, analog electronics escort lesser-known wind and plucked instruments to the sunny finish line. in trademark Red Axes style.

The Film;
An accompanying documentary by Nimrod Von Keren, entitled TRIPS #1 - Africa, is soon to be unveiled, which showcases the magic moments behind this first-of-many, transcontinental, nonstandard collaborative experiences.

The Show;
On August 23rd, we will present a one of a kind performance with 3 of the amazing musicians we worked with in Ivory Coast, from the band Yakomin. The show will happen at "Sacred Music Festival" in Jerusalem, and this is the most amazing closure, the band and Red Axes could have dreamed of. The artists will prepare a special set up of tracks recorded together, and new organic interpretations for their biggest tracks

Fresh after his storming Powerline EP on Extrapolation Records, Lancashire based Brandon Vare delivers 2 more mighty tracks for Jelly Roll Soul. With the A Side, Moonlighting he brings some relief from the 2017's darkness. With it's glistening synth lines and warm chords, it delivers a sense of hope in a time of need. Dug out from his archives, the track is now over 5 year's old but now it's time has come! The flip side Yattering is it's ugly, dark shadow. It's conflicted inner life slowly reveals itself from under a razor sharp bassline, burbling to the surface as it breaks out in a full on panic attack.....

Dixon Avenue Basements Jams launches it's sub-label Neutralizer, a new outlet for the dirtier end of their tastes, with four honkin' jam rolls from Belfast's own Carlton Doom, purported to be the adult alias of a feral child featured in the infamous 2002 documentary, 'Wild Child'. Despite many attempts (at an apparent two million pound cost) by the state to 'civilise' him, Monsieur Doom has never really shaken off the untamed environments that shaped the absolute weirdo he is today: a steady diet of house bricks, diesel and boursin cheese translates into a primitive and powerful approach to modern machine music, at once referencing the dirty frolic of classic Hague / Glasgow manoeuvres, upcycling all that old shite to reflect a far more harrowing take on the desolate, post-sensible future we're wishing into existence. BenzodiAcid and the rhythm of hard industry, stitched together with a dod of good 'eld fashioned mechanical funk and strong will to fuck it all off. Perfect for listening to whilst chowing down on a city pigeon kebab on the dried-up banks of the River Lagan, but actually even more suitably placed through the undulating cones of an oppressively loud sound system in the basement of a telesales unit. Thoroughly optimistic vistas all round.

"Things take a psychedelic turn for SchleiBen 7 with a welcome to the label of arch exponents of mind expansion in NYC's Georgia and the unlikely but no less diverse inclusion of Balearic stalwarts A Man Called Adam. Having Georgia in the series might not now be a surprise, however discussions with this open, genuine duo started during a visit to New York over 3 years ago and so here, finally realised in this fluid journey of confident pace and harmony, is the best of their freeform evocations. A duo in the everyday sense, Brian Close and Justin Tripp are video / music production teamsters of unnatural talent. Having gained a status of their own that has seen them release for the likes of Palto Flats and FTD, the five pieces that form their contribution drip with psychedelic intent. Culled from archives, the interest is how the tracks - made over different years, locations and situations in life - meld in to something poetic simply by being placed within a specific format. Avant-chimes ebb to rhythmic pulses and erudite teachings before dark percussion and Eastern melodies reach a clattering, but gentle finale. With an upcoming collaborative album with Secret Circuit due on the label later in 2018, as well as recent works with RVNG Intl's Matt Werth and recordings for Sacred Summits' brethren Firecracker Recordings, it's a warm, effusive glow of a welcome. In contrast, the inclusion of A Man Called Adam in the series may indeed surprise but is a false comprehension. The "Sketches" included here show AMCA away from their Balearic pop incarnation of the last thirty years and towards the academia that both members Sally Rodgers and Steve Jones have pursued in the last decade. With both completing PHDs, Sally ('The Diachronic Impact of Technology-Led Abstraction in Oral, Written and Music-based Poetries') is a senior lecturer at Leeds College Of Music, while Steve ('Mobilise: The Carry Principle, Sound and Mobile Media') is based out of de Montfort University, now is the perfect time to highlight the diverse sound environments they have been working in. The music that makes up these recordings are drawn from sound works and audio experiments completed in recent years. From sound toys and apps to home made glass organs and electro-acoustic sound, custom patches to spoken word manipulations, the sketches are excerpts - some evolved from commissions for the National Science Museum, BBC Radio 4 and live performances with the world renowned video artist Milosh JL - fused especially for this release. Bringing these generated pieces in to an audible "mix" creates a discourse of their work in performance, interactions and visual media. An intellectualised album therefore, but still in the premise of the series to allow artists to present something new, unique, discrete, hidden even, all with the aim of giving the recipient the chance to sit back and (un)listen. "

Band looks for brighter days as Sunstreet' - was the headline from a 1980 Delaware newspaper archive that finally helped Rain&Shine connect the dots and between Minnesota band 'Haze' and Sunstreet. Lovin was recorded while the band (a subset of original Haze members, including the tight horns section and lead singer Sonny Knight, RIP) were signed to Bear Records in Delaware. Their contract required them to shelve their already recorded (and incredible) 2nd album Haze album. 40 years later, officially licensed, re-mastered and cut @ 45RPM Rain&Shine give Sunstreet's 'Lovin' another lease of life. 'Lovin' was included on Paul Phillips' 'Under The Influence' compilation on Z records, alongside being a favourite of Waxist.

"Emotional Response returns to the SchleiBen series, with another offering of 4 split albums. Again artists are given free reign, encouraged to push the boundaries of their studio and live experimentation in form and texture.For parts 5 - 8 the net is cast wide, from the psychedelic moons of Tomaga to Matthewdavid's meditative live improvisation, a collection of A Man Called Adam's commissioned sound-works to Jon Keliehor's new age visions.
First Tomaga, a duo that grew out of engine of psychedelic rock outfit, The Oscillation, to become a respected entity of it's own. Featuring long time friend of the label, Tom Relleen and drummer extraordinaire Valentine Ma, the project has grown to become greater than the sum of its parts. With 4 albums in 3 years and one more upcoming - plus their ridiculously overlooked solitary remix of Not Waving for the label - the output doesn't come close to matching their live "events", from almost constant touring.
The 2 pieces were recorded in an improvised session as an interzone between their last album, which was recorded entirely in non-studio spaces and their newer material. Featuring heavily processed long form studio recordings, the pieces, with Tom's bass and audio manipulation set over Valentine's exemplarily, intricate percussive interplay, provide a perfect, brooding introduction to the second series of SchleiBen.
This is contrasted with the first 'official' solo output of Neil Tolliday. As Nail, he has gained respect for over 25 years crafting deep, bumpin' House music on labels like DiY Discs, Remote and Classic, including the sought after Big D's Lounge album. After a sojourn as one of half of off-kilter pop duo, Bent, the Nail moniker has been recently resurrected for a new generation of followers.
Throughout this time Neil has recorded more personal music, initially for his own consumption, however some recently starting surfacing under various pseudonyms via digital portals. No press, no information about who was really behind the music was given before being deleted soon after. After some encouragement, here then marks the first appearance of Neil Tolliday.
On the two tracks included, these drawn out, eastern influenced, drone ragas are pure meditation from Tolliday's 4/4 output. With an upcoming album on Emotional Response, more is to come.
A welcome return to SchleiBen then, due course to pause and reflect, emptying the moment to (un)listen.

Following a first vinyl appearance on You And Your Hippie Friends' 'A Very Nice Combinado Volume Dos' (YAYHF 03) earlier this year, Mexican producer PAULOR aka Paulo Rodriguez gets ready for his first solo outing with Hippie Dance's sister label.

Curated by Rebolledo, the imprint has established an impressive talent pool within only three releases, including both veteran and upcoming talent such as Sebastien Bouchet, El Güero, Zombies In Miami, Beyou, Roman Flügel and more. It's a testament to the label's chiselled vision that an idiosyncratic and diverse group such as this is able to sustain individual approaches to electronic music while weaving a coherent sonic tapestry from all its ingredients, the whole quite organically being more than the sum of its parts.

Now, it's up to PAULOR to flesh out his own sound cosmos on You And Your Hippie Dance's latest 12' drop, presenting a concoction of salt-caked beats, riffing guitars and flexing bass that evokes a sense for space and untouched, psychedelic landscapes not unlike Rebolledo's very own desert funk vignettes. After 'La Race' (his contribution to 'A Very Nice Combinado Volume Dos') and the 'Discótico Desértico' remix for Rebolledo's 'Mondo Re-Alterado' (HIPPIE DANCE 10 LP) started making the rounds in tastemaker DJ sets, PAULOR caught a major moment of inspiration while performing at Monterrey's TOPAZDeluxe - which lead to the husky, hypnotic cut PAULOR'S BLUES, pièce de résistance and headstone in one, as it set the scene and also birthed enough follow-up tracks to naturally grow into a cohesive, full-blown EP.

From echo-drenched, beatless opener NEBLINA to the percussion-infused intrigue of DELIRIO EN CARRETERA, the athletic pop minimalism of AMIGOS or the slow burn of brooding mystery shuffle LUCES CALLING, PAULOR creates a unique, atmospheric sound panorama that excites minds and bodies alike. Adorned with a starry night sky, the record's cover artwork couldn't be more fitting - it's a dominant musical vista in PAULOR's work, whose vantage point is not necessarily a specific place (although all tracks were recorded in Xalapa), but a feeling of exquisite duality: the feeling of being lost between the stars, lonely and connected at the same time, a speck of dust and the center of the universe.

Day one is the first Asierhans’s EP, which consist in bunch of ideas collected during the last year, formed by 2 club-ready tunes inspired in a sound between House and Techno as well as sounds from Nu Disco, Balearic/Ambient in other tracks as Seville or Aderall. This is also the first reference of Noreple, a London/Madrid based label.

London loft party and label The Disco Express drop their long awaited, inaugural vinyl EP with four heavyweight belters courtesy of label boss Bustin' Loose.

Getting the EP underway are two tropical, Afro-Disco influenced hits. Punchy and oozing in exotic flavours ‘M&H’ boasts galloping percussion, infectious vocals and ludicrously funky sax solos. A sure-fire, feel good, disco heater. Following suit is ‘Calypso Disco’ a sun kissed, daytime groover boasting a synth line so funky, it is irresistible to dance.

Flip it over for two soulful disco / house chuggers. First up is ‘Best of You’, a peak-time disco bomb jam-packed with anthemic trumpet loops and silky vocals. Building up to its explosive finale, this uplifting club powerhouse is ready-make to get you grooving. Bringing the EP to the fore is ‘Philadelphia Champagne Delivery’ an absolute firecracker, exuding in booming low end vibrations, gloriously shimmering strings and a shredding guitar solo to perfectly seal together the Disco Connection EP.

Fresh from collaborating with broken beat rising star EVM128 on the latter’s superb “Input 128” album, Turbojazz lands on Boogie Café with an inspired label debut that’s every bit as soulful, jazzy and musically rich as you’d expect.

Thanks to a string of rock solid releases on G.A.M.M, Local Talk and Sampling As An Art Records, the Milanese producer has earned a reputation for creating rich, soul-fired dancefloor workouts that variously join the dots between deep house, US garage, jazz-funk and broken beat.

This trademark style naturally comes to the fore on the Italian’s first Boogie Café outing, which boasts both club-focused broken beat workouts and smooth, peak-time ready house excursions.

Leading from the front is title track “In Search”, a punchy and loose-limbed broken beat roller that layers spacey jazz-funk synths and opulent Rhodes riffs atop raw analogue bass and the kind of infectious “bruk-up” drums that were once the preserve of West London legends Bugz In The Attic. The track’s inherently soulful elements – particularly the Rhodes riffs and jazz-wise bassline – are re-appropriated by Javontte on his superb accompanying remix. The veteran producer retains the toasty jazziness of Turbojazz’s original version while re-framing the cut as a bumpin’, bass-heavy deep house cut with oodles of intergalactic charm.

The EP’s other moments are pure Turbojazz. “Voices” is another ambidextrous, starry-eyed slab of broken beat, this time from the jazzier end of the musical spectrum. Snaking sax lines, Herbie Hancock style space synths and rush-inducing chord sequences come to the fore throughout, triumphantly rising above another crunchy rhythm and headline-grabbing bassline.

Turbojazz doesn’t need to reiterate his deep house credentials, but does so anyway via the tasty organ stabs, starry-eyed electronics, acid-style bass and atmosphere-enhancing aural textures of “Yellow”, a classic-sounding instrumental club cut that would sit just as easily on Local Talk as it does on Boogie Café.

Seven Swiss artists & collectives sharing the same passion for music came together for a unique collaboration. The result is a sequence that evolves through rhythm and each contributor‘s colour of sound. Artists involved: Melodiesinfonie, Jack Pattern, Lexx, Look Like, Alma Negra, Manuel Fischer, Les Points.

If you draw a map of electronic music today, you will come to realise that Switzerland still represents a blind spot for many people. Even if you see from the inside the many talented artists romping about in such a small space, you have to admit that interest from the outside is virtually non-existent. Therefore there is only one way: Teamwork! The MEGAMIX is a statement for it.

The story of Bella Boo is not one of overnight success, though of course it might appear as such, if you haven't been somewhat embedded in the wonderful and weird world of Swedish club culture over the last 12 years or so, in which case you will know her as one of the most eclectic, informed and hardworking DJs on the scene. It wasn't until last year's Studio Barnhus debut, the Fire EP, that the world finally started talking about Bella's extraordinary production skills - the record's fuzzy r&b harmonics and snappy analog drums prompted Pitchfork to declare it 'the flat-out dreamiest thing to come from the label yet'. This was followed quickly by boyboy, a universally beloved track on last year's Studio Barnhus Volym 1 compilation, in which she 'drizzled bluesy sweet nothings over elliptical scrapes and squelches, suggesting Matthew Herbert remixing St Germain' (Pitchfork again). Supervillain is Bella's first solo release of 2019, a perfect three-track thing that sees the currently London-based artist continue to expertly straddle the fence between enigmatic dreamlands and groove-locked dance floors. Bradley met Duke Hugh in Amsterdam, when he handed him a green USB stick after a show. He played the promos in the empty club and the first track immediately grabbed his attention - he knew it was something special. When he remembered the hook to Green Leaf the next morning he signed the release almost instantly.Each song has its own essence, there is absolutely no filler and the entire double pack sits together as a perfect whole. Flirting with aspects of broken beat, Jazz, hip hop and dreamy electronica - Duke Hugh winds together a most idiosyncratic release equally at home on the peak time dancefloor as it would be for a long road trip. Canvas is a big statement from an artist who's here to stay.
