House Novedades
The first cut may be the deepest, but the second hurts the most!
It might be commonplace, but it holds some self-evident truth for the return of Lauer - to the album format that is. Three years after his debut 'Phillips' on Running Back, the melody man from the outback of Frankfurt am Main presents Borndom: a thirteen track trip through a universe that is specifically his. Far from being a stranger to Permanent Vacation with singles like Delta NRG or Donnerlake being heralds of the things to come, it provides a home to their spiritual kinship and ethos.
Rooted in pop music and mixed with the reactance and sound aesthetics of punk, while wearing dancing shoes, you'll be hard pressed to find lots of contemporaries that till a similar field. With a sound signature, a melodic repertoire and an emotional quality that is immediately recognizable, often yearns for vocals (a point of criticism that is minimized as you will see in just a second) and is if nothing else highly individualised, Lauer might one of the thoroughly honest indie dancers out there.
Unlike his other adventures in club music (hardly lets a week go by without a release or a remix for the most critically-acclaimed outfits on this planets either on his own, under the Hotel Lauer umbrella or as being part of Tuff City Kids), his second album makes the most use of these moments and that specific stylistic. Of course, you can find typical high flying Lauer moments like 'Mausback' or 'Hump Acid' or the Nu-Groove-esque desire dubbed'Pal Oh', but the image of a singer-songwriter with a midi-kit prevails. There are miniatures like 'Carpet', the blissful melancholia of the opener 'Crewners', the album's title track that sounds like the lost soundtrack to an eighties sitcom about college nerds and maybe most startling, Borndom's vocal features. 'ESC' (feat. Jasnau) being the proverbial cold wave mating dance in the neon light, while the two songs with Ela take care of romantic highs and lows.

After seducing the likes of Optimo, Horse Meat Disco, Rub'N'Tug and Bicep with their floor-friendly reworks of classic disco, funk and electro, the lads over at Fatty Fatty Phonographics are expanding their repertoire with their first 12 inch of original material.
The man they've chosen for this mission, Tim Blake, is a Dublin born music maker with a bank of vintage keyboards and drum machines in his spare room and a full blooded romantic's heart beating in his chest.
Now based in Berlin, his debut 'Heat Crime' EP came out on Kleine Reise Records, a label run by a set of Irish messers who throw some of the city's very best parties, and a track on the recent Dirt Crew Recordings 10th anniversary compilation has helped spread the word about this special talent further.
'United States of Hinterland' in its demo form was described as 'The Shit' by none other than Mad Mike Banks of Underground Resistance and you can see why - banks of emotive, UR drenched synths and pads married to overpowering piano chords, wild psychedelic guitar, crazed drum patterns and an unmistakeable 21st Century P-Funk squelch.
Pablo and Shoey have their fun with the track on the flip, upping the ante with a big fat 303 assault while retaining the elements that make the original such a trip.
The package is rounded off nicely with a hypnotic dub for the Dj's, not to mention 'Haunting Passion', a churning, yearning deep house roller that pushes all the right buttons for the modern dancefloor.
You can imagine this one cooling the dancers off at 6am, or providing just the right soundtrack for a blissed out summer sunset moment...

Jonny Nash (Land Of Light) pulling out he deepest set of cuts on his own new label... sublime TIP!
Melody As Truth is a record label run by Jonny Nash, primarily as a vehicle for his personal output.
Perhaps best known for his work on ESP Institute, Nash has been noticeably quiet since the acclaim for 2012`s Land Of Light collaboration between himself and Kyle Martin, even for someone who has always placed quality far above quantity. His last recorded output was a recent retrospective by Japan`s Snaker (which sold out in days). Jonny has spent the last twelve months playing live and experimenting in the studio with artists such as Gigi Masin,Young Marco, Thomas Bullock, Suzanne Kraft, Black Merlin and Tiago, studying, honing and developing his sound.
This development is evident on Melody As Truth`s first release, a five track E.P. entitled "Phantom Actors". Citing Modern Classical and Detroit ambience as an influence, simplicity and subtraction are key themes, with Nash's distinctive melodic approach still central. Silence is balanced with noise, light with dark, in a refined first release for the label.

Rock Island's RAM music direct to you from the Midwest. Smalltown Supersound is proud to announce that it is re-issuing the Holy Grail of Norwegian dance music, the first two albums by reclusive cult innovator from beyond the Arctic Circle Bjørn Torske.
With the Norwegian disco movement having given birth to many international dance stars, now is a perfect time to go back and re-evaluate these brilliant records, that provided the inspiration for a wave of producers in their wake. With all of Torske's album discography now with their natural home Smalltown Supersound, the label can finally feel complete.
Debut album Nedi Myra' was first released on UK label Ferox and his second album Trøbbel' originally came out on Telle Records. They have been out print for many years and have not been distributed on any digital streaming sites. Now lovingly re-mastered by Helmut Erler at Dubplates & Mastering, for the first time Bjørn feels that they sound as he intended them to sound.
Together with the late Tore Erot' Kroknes, Bjørn laid the foundation for the disco scene in Norway that gave birth to Prins Thomas, Lindstrom, Andre Bratten and Todd Terje. Inspired by DJ Harvey, Ron Hardy and Idjut Boys, Bjorn Torske and Erot brought underground disco and house/techno (Chicago/Detroit style) to the country, developing their very own style of tripped out dubby disco with their characteristic weird, humorous and psychedelic twists along the way. With Torske as with many auteurs, he hasn't always got the attention and credit he deserved. He is known for being reclusive, and an outsider, making music on his own terms and not playing by the rules of the record business. All of which has made him the musician's musician.
Torske's debut album under his own name was Nedi Myra' in 1998 on UK label Ferox. After that he released a string of singles with Svek label, among them the seminal Jeg vil være søppelmann'. That translates to I Want To Be A Binman' in English, which shows who set the tone for Norwegian disco's particular sense of humour. Also on Svek was the single Sexy Disco', cited by Todd Terje as the first time I listened to disco in a non-ironic way'. "Trøbbel" was released in 2001 and in 2005 he signed to Smalltown Supersound and released the two 12' singles Kokt Kveite' and Ny lugg/Kort bak lang på siden' and the albums Feil Knapp' (2007) and Kokning' (2009). In 2010 he released Oppkok' 12' which was remixed by DJ Harvey and Todd Terje, and last year the Kok'
EP with additional material from the Kokning' album sessions.
Get to know the production genius of Norwegian disco's original Wilderness man.

Armand Van Helden, Boston-born, Grammy Award-nominated DJ, producer and remixer, has spent 20 years honing a reputation as one of the most respected producers on the scene. With three official UK Number 1's under his belt, he is a worthy choice to present the next installment of Ministry of Sound's prized 'Masterpiece' series, available from 16th February 20
The 'Masterpiece' series is a concept fronted by artists and DJs of the highest calibre. It's an opportunity for these pioneering acts to curate a three disc musical journey that depicts their own influences and inspirations to share with their fans. With predecessors including Goldie, David Rodigan, Andrew Weatherall, Fabio and Grooverider and Gilles Peterson, the level of reputation and irrefutable standing of acts selected for 'Masterpiece' in the past is a given.
Crafting beats from a very young age, it was in 1991 that Van Helden began working on production for the remix service X-Mix Productions (founded by his future manager, Neil Petricone). His big break quickly followed in 1992 when he released Deep Creed's 'Stay on My Mind' on Nervous Records - the result of playing one of his production demos for the dance A&R guru Gladys Pizarro.
Boston's early house venue The Loft is where Armand truly cut his teeth as a DJ, with his residency helping to make it one of the most popular underground clubs in the city. On the first disc of the compilation, he revisits his days at The Loft, recalling a place where Mood II Swing swung their trousers next to early Masters At Work remixes. Since those early days, Van Helden has gone on to become an internationally renowned act, dropping bomb after bomb of nuclear-powered New York goodness: from classic house to speed garage via hip hop, funk, blue-eyed soul and back.
It's precisely the wide variety of genres he favours that makes his second disc - entitled 'Yacht Rock Don't Stop' - so rich. The mix is a homage to his parents' record collection, as he explains: 'when you're in the ages of let's say 6-10 years old, the music you're exposed to will stay with you forever. In those particular years, my folks would constantly play their records at home but at nightclub volume: home stereos were big then. Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac and the Doobie Brothers were regulars.'
Following his Yacht Rock exploration, the lost era of freestyle becomes the focus of Armand's third disc. A short-lived, soul-tinged genre that took in artists like Stevie B, Lisa Lisa and Shannon, Armand takes the opportunity on 'Forever Freestyle' to shine a light on this underrated branch of dance music: one that is vital to his curated collection.
Van Helden's chart success includes three official UK number 1's: 'U Don't Know Me' (1999), his remix of Tori Amos' 'Professional Widow' (1996), and 'Bonkers' (2009); his collaboration with Dizzee Rascal. He also boasts Top 10 hits with 'Koochy' (2000), and 'Barbra Streisand' (2010) - the second single from Duck Sauce, his collaborative project with A-Trak. The mastery of his craft has equally made him a popular choice to remix tracks for some of the biggest acts in the world, including The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, P. Diddy, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Faithless, New Order, and Daft Punk.
The 'Masterpiece' series has been an enjoyable and enlightening set of compilations so far, allowing each artist to showcase in real detail the inspirations that have helped shape their careers. On Van Helden's compilation, fans are afforded the chance to delve into the musical mind of one of the world's most famed dance artists: a man who creates disco carnage often by complete accident.

Love Club was an obscure one off project fronted by Jay "Mixin" Dixon, a DJ with a long history at NYCs Kiss FM where he played deep House and Garage on the stations legendary master-mix show in the early 90's. The record also features a mystery, uncredited female vocalist assisted by some top shelf studio personnel manning the boards.
It was released on the mighty West End Records in August 1983 and is Dixon's first foray into releasing music. "Hot Summer Nights" is a real under the radar gem and it bears all the hallmarks of a classic West End production of the time: slick, synth heavy, futuristic sounding production and sultry vocals extolling the virtues of eyes meeting across the dance-floor of a unknown discotech on a sticky summer night, a nice slice of electronic Disco bliss that even features a rapped verse from Dixon himself towards the end of the track! Flip it over to side B for the obligatory instrumental mix / dub where the spacious, stripped back groove really comes to life.
Yet another gem from the vast West End catalogue re-mastered, re-pressed and re-released in conjunction with the label, featuring the original label artwork from 1983. A treat for all serious Disco / Boogie fans.

Uber Recordings' latest release see the legendary Bing Ji Ling make an appearance. See Me Through featuring the sweet vocals of Diane Birch is a sunkissed slice of California soul. A beautiful heartfelt love song oozing quality. Live instrumentation and a tight arrangement creating a real classic song. The second track, the remix of Thought Our Love Was Strong is something a little different. Tropical digital reggae vibrations all over Bing's sweet soulful smokey vocals.and bluesy guitar. West Coast Collie weed poolside stylee.
The B side is Coyote's reworking of See Me Through. Throbbing disco sub bass loops and dubbed out vocal samples with extra percussion and funky guitars layering over house beats build up to a vocal break down, before dropping back in with all guns blazing. Big smiles and dancing guaranteed.

Groove Line Records open our account in 2015 with our debut half-speed mastered 12' single. First in line for the super deluxe treatment are Plush's 1982 singles, Free And Easy (Tee Scott Remix) and Burnin' Love.
Plush were a short lived Synth-Dance group (with a young Siedah Garrett in their ranks) who were taken under the wing of R&B hit makers Rene & Angela releasing one self-titled LP in 1982 from which both of these singles originate.
Side A boasts the legendary Tee Scott's Dance Remix of the Rene & Angela penned 'Free And Easy,' whose version is considered a classic by modern soul lovers. Celebrated DJ, innovator and mixer Scott expertly stretches the Plush original to over 8 minutes, creating an incredible dancefloor experience.
The opening synth swell gives way to a solid kick full of intent, on top of which a synth bass riff introduces the funky electric bass, anchoring the groove for the duration of the track. Tee Scott then takes the dancer on a beautiful journey, subtly and sparingly adding the various elements of the track to stunning effect before each sequence culminates in an intoxifying crescendo (notably at 2:18 and 4:41) before stripping it all back and starting the next leg of the journey. Scott seems to have been inspired by the track title injecting an ever evolving blend of dynamic synth parts, jazzy, staccato lead guitar riffs, acoustic piano licks and passionately sung, feel good, positive vocals from Garrett and her band mates which unquestionably leave you feeling very free and easy on the dancefloor.
Side B features the 12' Dance Remix of Burnin' Love. A very funky, synth driven dance track with a bubbling bass line, sweeping synth swells and Prince-esque electric guitar, Burnin' Love (also written by Rene & Angela) spotlights the burgeoning vocal talents of Siedah Garrett and the funky, harder hitting, progressive electro-funk production style emerging within dance music in 1982.
All Groove Line Records releases are fully licensed and taken from the original master tapes, remastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering, and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy (Mastering Engineer of the Year 2013). All vinyl is heavy weight 180g manufactured Optimal Media in Germany, one of the world's finest pressing plants.
Groove Line Records cut no corners when making sure that each and every one of our releases has the highest quality performance possible.

Celebrated and Mercury-nominated UK duo Rae & Christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on Night Time Stories/Late Night Tales after spending the last decade meditating in a Buddhist monastery in Swindon. This year the label commissioned a series of remixes from Mercury Rising and Mang Dynasty (aka Ray Mang & Bill Brewster) take on Favourite Game featuring rising star of the Swindon Buddhist circuit Jake Emlyn.
Mang Dynasty focus on Gita Langley's backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and Afghanistan). Jake Emlyn's more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. Initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12-inch on Mangled, home of the hits!

UK-based Nang presents Disco legend Rayko latest album, due for release on the 31st of March 2014 on vinyl and digitally.
Nang has been releasing quality Disco since its inception, dropping tracks from the likes of Martin Brodin, Tensnake, Daniele Baldelli, Brioski, Toby Tobias and with an incredible list of remix artists such as Luke Solomon, Andrew Weatherall and Lindstrom amongst other. This spring they are delivering Disco visionary Rayko's latest album Rebirth which follows Tirks latest single, Rusos Theme on the Uk-based imprint.
The LP comprises 10 forward thinking disco tracks and it opens with Balearic Intro, which is a slow tempo moody disco tune, guided by an almost talking guitar solo. The second track The Cave is clearly influenced by 80s synth rock while Time And Space is more a deep club focused tune. The fourth cut Nightlogy is a perfect example of how Rayko can revitalise dated sounds and give them new shine, adding on top of the tune a soulful vocal. This last cut is on par with Rusos Theme, a more pop oriented track driven by the hypnotic male voice that repeats "I'm gonna make you love me.", quite a clear mission statement!
The LPs title track merges acid synth lines with a relentless groove and its a strong dancefloor focused track. He Came From The Space is an uplifting funky tune, while Dreamer is a more groovy synth driven tune with a cheeky vibe to it. The last 2 tracks are the perfect ending for the album: Warhammer is a slow moody cut while the closing tune Goodbye Baby is a proper club track, in which a funky slapped bass line is combined with guitar riffs and a long ethereal pad, it rounds off the release perfectly and feels like the end of the show.

For the latest edition of the intriguing Dessert Islands Discs re-edit series, the label has called upon the well-renowned scalpel talents of German-in-Amsterdam Marcel Vogel, AKA Em Vee. The Double Denim-sporting eccentric drops another gem in the shape of "White Heat Shake It Out (Edit)", a bouncy and seductive disco chop-job that makes great use of the source material's bustling groove and steamy, spoken word vocals. On the flip, lesser-known re-edit heads Papi Del Pancake and Claude Von Reefer take up the challenge. Their "Gimme What You Got" has a little more deep house shuffle, but retains the key instrumentation and feel of a sumptuous disco-soul jam.

We all remembered definition:music 001 Horatio & Katoline - Mi Nombre.
A track remixed by the grand master Reboot himself, which shaken the
things and brought this label into the spotlight. We awaited the
follow up and it came as a warm collaboration between this dynamic duo
(H&K) and the uber producer , DJ , vocalist , Roland Clark .
What i like about these guys is that they always adapted their sound
to fit in. This time they surprised us with a warm , deep , nu disco
sound , a richly textured Eastern European influenced black sea sound
. The Original Mix melds the soft melancholy of much Middle Eastern
music with the rapidly changing structures of contemporary music , and
works beautifully. And btw it gets more seductive with every listen.
B1 ... When you lose a friend is following the same line of slow , deep
, sexy , nu disco rhythm that this ep carries out . From what we
understood this track has a special story , actually being a tribute
to a long lost friend of Horatio. A grand master in martial arts that
was a mentor , a friend, a father figure that helped him guiding into
life. It brought chills on my spine when i heard it and for sure you
can feel a lot of emotions when you listen it.
B2 DJ Le Roi returns after his bomb release 'I get deep' offsetting a
remix with a more traditional electronic sound. His remix is a strong
statement: a full-bodied 4/4 cut laced with slightly deep synth and
half-sung, half-chanted vocals from Roland - all in keeping with the
Middle Eastern feel of the record. The Funky bass chords are perfect
for a dancing-barefoot-in the club because you are too sweated to keep
the shoes in...

Rothmans is back with there 7th release and this time they pay homage to German playmaker Paul Breitner . The EP comes in the form of rising Manchester producer Ste Spandex , fresh off the back of his remix of Coyote our on Rothmans 6 , and has been recorded 100% live on analogue eqiupment , not a computer in sight !!!! . The EP finds Rothmans taking a slightly different and more up tempo vibe to it but still retains the psychadelic Nu Disco feel of many of there Earlier releases. It's time to celebrate! At catalogue number 20 Uncanny Valley extends its compilation-concept to 12 tracks spread over three records (or as a bundle if you prefer digital). With new music by label-regulars like Jacob Korn, Cuthead and Credit 00, friends like RVDS & K'Alexi or Filburt and fresh talents like Goetterkreis & Steve Kasper it is an exciting ride along the winding roads through the Uncanny Valley. The three records are visually linked with distinctive artwork by the ever-reliable Paul Waak. Part 3 starts with a bang and ''In der Weltraumdiskothek'' by mysterious Dresden based producer DC Production. If you've ever wondered what music would be played at the night club of the Ewoks this tune might be the answer. ''Nuthin Wrong Here'' is Scherbe to the bone with his stumbling beats, dirty synths and heartbreaking samples. We also have a big heart for Disco here at the valley and this is proven by Sandrow M & K_Chico who put a smile on our face with catchy guitar licks, bouncy bass lines and cheesy vocals. ''Space Dancer'', what more could you desire Finally, Filburt from Leipzig brings things down to a peaceful end with his slightly melancholic ''My Time''. Free download included.

Following the dazzling debut 12", Crumbs hit us with another stunner !
Although delivering a mysterious & scantily clad 12" is hardly a novel concept these days, it does concentrate the mind (and feet) on the music more than the brand
It's undercover time again, and we're sworn to secrecy, of course...but three producers of considerable note contribute here
Tee Mango rides some seriously wig flipping synth lines over an irresistible tropical groove that just builds beautifully into a bona fide 'moment' on the floor On the flip we're treated to two solid gold Soulful extensions: Allenby Chilton takes on a little known Etta jam, amplifies the Funk elements and transforms the song into an altogether more heavyweight workout.
Finally Fence take on a rare late 70's psychedelic Soul tune, again adding some 21st century wide-screen sonics and dancefloor dynamic
Another All Ears sureshot !

Reworks Vol. 3 by Los Amigos Invisibles, Ray Mang, Soul Clap & Debonair - And here we already are, in the next, the third 12inch round of the Sonar Kollektiv / Daniel Grau remix orgy. This time Ray Mang, Soul Clap, Debonair and Trujillo together with Miguel Molina are in on it. The Venezuelan six-piece combo Los Amigos Invisibles did rerecord - El León Bailarín' off Grau's album by the same title from 1980 and the UK disco king Ray Mang hand-crafted a bass driven, dubfunky slammer out of it. That's the music the most beautiful girls in town want to wiggle their hips to.
Sitting still will also be no option hearing the extra funked-up remix of'To Night' by US duo Soul Clap together with Bosq. This is, by the way, a brand new track by Daniel Grau (after a 30 years enduring creative sabbatical) and is up to now only available on - The Magic Sound Of Daniel Grau - compiled by Jazzanova & Trujillo' (SK281CD / LP).
The Australian Debonair comes in with his remix for - Atlantis' (off Grau's 1979 released album - Disco Fantasy') not less lascivious at all and pyramids the synth chords with added delays in a fashion you start to feel like somebody is pulling the rug out from under your feet. That was probably his initial intention and he succeeds brilliantly. This is the sexy sound of Venezuela today!

Thirty years later Italian Records and Kirlian Camera are happy to re-release EDGES in a new interpretation by today's singer/frontliner Elena Alice Fossi.
The A side of this 21st century vinyl includes remixes by JOHN FRYER (Depeche Mode + NIN producer), and Starion that combines vocoder vocals, analogue bass and polysynth.
On the B side the electronic duo from Rotterdam Shambok offers a pumping ELECTRO MIX along with an intense pad ACCAPPELLA version.
Really: an HOT RECORD not to miss !!

San Francisco-based DJ/producer Nick Monaco has long been part of the Soul Clap family, releasing his first 12" on the label back in 2012. Mating Call, a double 12" set running at album length, is easily his most expansive release yet. It's typically eccentric, delivering a range of songs - featuring his own distinctive vocals - that blend numerous styles whilst retaining a loose, funky and altogether rather kaleidoscopic feel. It's rooted in Balearic pop, but also touches on dub, deep house, boogie, dub disco and a strangely deep and contemporary take on the triple-beat rhythms of glam rock. It's hard to accurately describe, but is really rather good; certainly, it's one of Soul Clap's strongest releases of recent times.

'1975' is special. It's Xinobi's debut album and it pretty much summarizes his recent and diverse approach to music. It has organic House Music and Disco flavors mixed with a strong, yet idiosyncratic, Pop sensibility that stands out of what could be too obvious on a dance music oriented record. During 54 minutes you're driven by a simultaneously homogeneous and diverse collection of songs that range from contemplative intimate moments to memorable chorus that gather tons of people singing and clapping soulfully. It's a dissimulated anthemic record but it stands as much more than that. Imagine the roughness of Caribou merged with Ennio Morricone-ish ambiences; the fragmental DJ Koze deep trips with sunny Lisbon as a background; Spaghetti Disco or Supermax on Jamaican Dub. Surf Guitar and Deep House. Simple and dense. Humble and nerdy. It's all of these glued onto a great combo in an intelligent and contemporary way.

ow-key producer Youandewan presents his first release of 2014 - a self-titled suite of deep, jacking dance tracks on Aus Music. First on the A-side is the swinging, acid-flecked 'Tino", kicking things off on a moody tip before the steady-groovin' 'Alright Son' goes to a duskier, deeper place, keeping the jacking feel of the first track intact but smoothing things out with dreamy pads and looped, spoken vocals. 'FM Jam' is the star of the B-side, presented first in its original form with disco-esque bass, soulful vocals, gentle keys and the titular FM synths. This makes it all-too-perfect remix material for Andrés, who applies his signature vibe and smooths it out even further into a soulful neo-disco-house cruiser. Already a seasoned remix veteran and prolific producer of varying styles, the young Youandewan shows off more of his soulful side while keeping things unpredictable, exciting, and moving ever-forwar
