We got in touch with Aroop after hearing his brilliant contributions on G.A.M.M. (Brazil Breakdown part 1 & 2) and on his Basic Fingers debut he continues his trait of delivering top quality reworks.

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts.

Whiskey Disco #12, Playboy, showcases the musical wanderlust of Reykjavík, Iceland's own B.G. Baarregaard. His melodic dance music has found support from djs like Greg Wilson, Till von Sein, Q-Burns, Sleazy Mcqueen, Local Zero, Touchsoul and Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco radioshow). The title tune, Playboy, is fit enough for both vocal and instrumental versions. B.G. adds music aplenty and we're sure you'll get a bit heated over them. We think this EP is so solid we've stacked it with two original tracks that really fit the vibe of Whiskey Disco, No Other Lover is a fantastic specimen of BBQ disco, while Boogie is a bit more stripped and builds to a nice acid vibe that would fit a later set.

"Joining the dots after last years reissue of Plus Instruments early 80s post-punk music on the Bodies EP on Emotional Rescue, Especial now looks at their return to recent music production, taking the song Love Is Enough from the recent Trancesonics album and giving it the all encompassing label remix treatment.

Returning to releasing music after over 30 years hiatus, the now solo, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Truus de Groot, showed she had lost none of the unique off-kilter dance inflicted avant-pop observations.

With the release of Trancesonics things come full circle, bringing Truus' right back to her roots. On hearing Love Is Enough's thumping 4/4 kick, sliding hats, white noise and mind-worming vocals seemed in tune with what Especial is about - warped, tripped -out, dub inspired dance floor music that retains an ear for melody and at times, pop leaning, it was a calling not to be ignored.

Richard Sen then, leads the way with a trademark killer Chicago inspired bump'n'strings cut that takes Truus' vocals to the horror chamber. Next, Khidja show why they are names to watch with their retake, mixing double bass and vibes interplay, trippy fx and haunting refrain, all wrapped in a killer groove that signal a duo totally on their game.

On the flip, it was a perfect fit to get Luke Solomon in to do one of his special 'mad-hatter' skat style remixes. Jumpin' and bumpin' across the floor this is Music For Freaks. Finally, homeboy Jamie Paton does it again with twisted, bubbling dub, riding snares, arps on arps, a multi-layered, live on the mixing desk work-out for mind and feet. Is Love enough Maybe. Or it could be Dub is enough Time will tell. Dot to dot.

THE GRAND SEARCH

GONG 3000
Built around the massive sound of a synthetic gong, KUSUMA dramatically changes moods on this track. With a grumbling bassline, ricochet drums and an irresistible syncopated cowbell, there is a dark, frenzied and utterly danceable quality to GONG 3000. If there is such a thing as East Asian EBM, this track is totally canonical.

STREET SIREN
A devastating peak time weapon where KUSUMA uses siren sounds, a ruthless rhythm section, intoxicating synths, samples and effects to create a colossal track. Rife with moments of tense build-up and climatic release this is a track that is guaranteed to shatter dancefloors. Urban grit has never sounded so classy.

Karamika is a duo formed by Black Merlin aka George Thompson and Gordon Pohl from Music Cargo. They take the darkest elements from the original track and transform it into a broodin track with a definite industrial feel which will boggle minds, melt faces and last but not least set bodies in motion.

From Hippie Dance to Optimo. Late night floor fillers full of tension and swooping, spine tingling vocals.
It has been all quiet on the Optimo Music front recently while energy has been devoted to the launch of Optimo Trax but do not fear, there are a plethora of scintillating releases in the pipeline for 2014.

First up is a stormtrooper of an EP from The Twins. We first met this duo when they were residing in Glasgow and our paths then continued to cross in various European capital cities. A mutual appreciation was born and out of that came the suggestion that The Twins might make a record for Optimo Music. The resulting three tracks far exceeded our wildest expectations and we are incredibly proud to be presenting this Twins magnum opus to the world. Haunting, forceful, transcendent music with spine tingling vocals this EP has perhaps a tad more dancefloor capability than many Optimo Music releases but is also a record equally capable of giving your ears a lot of loving at home.

It was hard to pick one track to showcase the EP but this one is the one that has perhaps been tested out on the dance floor the most and always results in people clamouring to know what it is. The kind of track that completely changes the atmosphere in a club and often results in spontaneous cheering, it has been mixed to perfection by The Twins ally, Superpitcher who will be releasing their debut album on his and Rebolledo's Hippie Dance label.

These four amazing tracks offer a taste of his forthcoming full-length for Turbo (due at the end of the year), while demonstrating his eccentric studio genius and unique hitmaking sensibility.
"Meathead" starts things off in big-room banger mode, before segueing into a carnivalesque breakdown, with moody synths that acknowledge that all feasts - culinary, erotic or otherwise - must come to an end. "Attic Sundays" is analog snake charmer magic, bouncing cavernous sonar bass off every wall of the Bavarian Pyramids. "Blueberries" blends high-NRG synths with intricate clockwerk rhythms, redefining the landscape of acceptable peak-time geography. Finally, "Schoove" offers a full scholarship to Groove School, wedding a mangled vocal hook to alternately classy and grimy Kraut-Hop.

Berlin based duo Africaine 808 will release their debut album 'Basar' via NY imprint Golf Channel (home to Mark E, Juju & Jordash and DJ Nature) in January next year.

'Basar' pushes their divine blend of West African bass and rhythms, disco, island-funk and house to newer heights. Their deep and timeless debut is about 'Freedom and Freedom only' and is an album that reaches for the party Arthur Russell was talking about when he said 'I wanna see all my friends at once.'

Africaine 808 are Dirk Leyers, formerly one half of Closer Musik, and Berlin DJ and established artist Nomad. The pair met in Berlin at the city's annual summer techno demonstration Fuckparade in 2000, where they caught the infamous 'Techno Viking' scene live as it unfolded. Nomad got his first drum aged 6 years old, from a church collective yard sale. Now an avid collector of African influenced musical styles, from South African Shangaan to Westafrican Funk, his rhythmic quest has lead him to study and explore African and world music for almost 3 decades. The Africaine 808 project grew out of Nomad's Vulkandance parties; a melting pot of African, Latin, and Caribbean club music.

The title 'Basar' comes from the ancient term for 'oriental marketplace", a place to experience a multitude of impressions with your senses. Like an exotic marketplace, 'Basar' is filled with different sights and sounds around every corner. From the deep and mystical 'NGONI' which takes West African music to the rave with wobbling bass and hints of 90s ethno-dub to the killer squirmer of a bassline on 'Language of the Bass ft. Alex Voices' which keeps things heavy but nimble whilst recapturing UK bass histrionics. The smokey, soulful tones of OFRIN on 'Ready For Something New' offers a mystical downbeat gem. Whereas 'Basa Basa' takes it back to the dancefloor for a sweaty rhythmic number that bounces off the walls with it's tribal funk groove. Recent 12' single 'Rhythm Is All You Can Dance' also makes an appearance; wedding funk, earthy rhythms and frenzied African grooves to the gurgle of an 808.

The duo made their debut back in 2013 with 'Tummy Tummy'; which featured on Will Speculators W.T. Recordings compilation "DJ MUSCLE." The following year Golf Channel put out "Lagos New York." Pairing New York flecked disco with West African bass and rhythms, "Lagos New York" made for one of 2014's most essential electronic releases.

Having found the right home with one of the best labels (and parties) in New York City, the Berliners debut album 'Basar' has the feeling of an essential piece of music all over - a big, brooding, emotional and uplifting record that you can dance, laugh and cry to.

Once again, the Sunkissed camp get it spot on with this loud-pressed 12' collection of Balearic classics from Brazilian songstress Astrud Gilberto. Opens with the original version of mesmerising dancer 'Black Magic', a great DJ weapon that got the Tangoterje edit seal of approval a few years back. Followed by Balearic favourite 'Beginnings', a jazzy take on Chicago's classic hit which spins out into eight minutes of sensual bliss. Turn over for big Daniel Wang play, the obscure LP track 'All I've Got', a glorious low-slung floor-filling gem produced by none other than Salsoul Orchestra founder Vince Montana who also supplies the sublime disco version of the song that made Astrud a household name 'The Girl From Ipanema'. Lastly comes her cool and breezy version of the Bossanova jazz standard 'Agua De Beber'. Beautiful stuff.

Pomalo, means 'take it easy' in Croatian Dalmatia region's slang, is the latest addition to the Burek/Barba family.

A 12" by CL Dawkins titled 'Affirmation Of Love' comes as a wonderful postcard from Detroit. Written and produced by Alex Israel, remixed by Amp Fiddler, and with a vocal contribution by Lavell Williams, the record features three different generations of Detroit artists.

Alex Israel, here debuting his CL Dawkins moniker, is a mechanical engineer and synth aficionado with a deep respect for soul music.
Since 2011, Alex has released a string of successful releases under his real name on labels such as Creme Organization, Stilove4music, Night Gallery and W.T. Records.

In tune with the mood and title of the label, Alex delivers two mid-tempo jams which are hard to ignore. 'Affirmation Of Love' is a soulful tune that works equally as the last song of the night, in your living room, or at a boat party.
Mr. Williams, whose vocals envelop the song, is vice president of the Detroit Sound Conservancy, an organisation deeply involved with Detroit's musical heritage education.

CL's second tune on the record is 'Blue Falconry', an instrumental with a subtle synth line reminiscent of Alex's previous work threading through the whole length.

Finally, Amp Fiddler contributes his take on the vocal cut. Fiddler's career connects the worlds of George Clinton, Sly and Robbie, Prince, and Brand New Heavies to artists like Moodymann, J Dilla, Theo Parrish, and A Tribe Called Quest.
A one-man musical hub, and an artist whose impressive biography would take up more space than we have here, spins the title with a dancefloor edge while retaining all the things we love about the original, a soulful Detroit house take that leaves a lasting impression...

This promising Israeli talent delivers two slow burning tracks oozing with eastern influence and informed by the modern sounds of dance. Part of the 84% Creativity crew, Naduve presents his second release with Cocktail d'Amore in the form of a two track EP which revels in it's dark and seductive energy. "No Good News" builds over it's 7-minute run layering mystic vocal synths and coupling them with splashing hats and tight shakers to give just enough beat driven energy to keep a crowd to attention. After his successful debut album SUPER VATO (CÓMEME CD LP 01) from two thousand eleven, his highly praised mix CD MOMENTO DRIVE (KOMPAKT CD 117) from two thousand fourteen, and all-around mayhem during his adventures as one half of the Pachanga Boys, Xalapa's finest REBOLLEDO returns with his second solo album MONDO ALTERADO: a recollection of moments and experiences from recent years, colorful mnemonics encompassing the brightest and the darkest. The result is a kind of soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist, a sonic journey designed like a mixtape that faithfully reflects Rebolledo's background as DJ and producer. This deep groove will work those balearic moments to-a-tee.
