When it was released in the summer of 2016, Eli Escobar's Happiness blew people away with its sophisticated house/disco hybrid sound and striking urban landscape. Critics were falling over themselves to hyperbolise over Eli's exquisite synth stabs while the coveted double LP continues to sell through to this day. The quintessential New York DJ, Eli's Happiness stomped through the streets of his city, stopping off along the way at the jumping Brooklyn basement clubs and dusty record shops that he frequents.

UNKR enslave dust-coated synthesizers, dilapidated drum machines and rusty FX boxes to craft 4/4 tunes for their impatient overlords. Their vision is clear - they will make techno, they will make house, they will make electronica, and you will listen and dance. It's not yet clear if BUNKR is the work of one frenzied human or many lazy individuals but we do know one thing - the ringleader is one James Dean, who previously released as Lost Idol on labels such as Pork Recordings, Nature, Final Frontier and Cookshop. Following a prolonged spell of writing music at slow tempos, Dean initiated BUNKR as a reactionary desire to speed things up. Too much time had been spent just sitting around - it was time to stop sitting and start dancing. True to their vision, here we have 'Cloud Chaser', a bubbling jam backed with a huge remix from Shan, who flips the mix with dramatic strings, sprinkles of magic dust and massive amen breaks. No less impressive is 'Juno's Revenge', a track you'd turn up on your headphones while taking a nice afternoon stroll on the moon, on a sunny morning after a long interplanetary rave. Down By The Lake is happy to present Saile, a young musician who was born and raised in Berlin. What instantly caught us was the timelessness of every single element within the sound of Saile. Though being at young age his hardware-only tracks are sweating of love for the golden era of US house music. map.ache (Kann/ Giegling) takes In The End to another hypnotic level, his version is a proper workout, to be heard on the trippy dancefloors across the world soon! Chances are if you have a body, a pair of ears and access to some kind of listening device, you've at least tapped a foot to 'Shine' from Soul Clap and Nona Hendryx. Pure authenticity and vocal integrity is provided in bucket loads by Nona (ex-Labelle member and purveyor of funk for more than 40 years), while the production maintains Soul Clap's sublime freshness.
Increasing your marimba intake by 200% with two additional versions, Hot Toddy gives exotic plushness with a diversified rhythm section and melodic bottom lines that lightly entwine, shimmering in the light of Nona's voice. Scott Grooves brings the funk, with an upfront bassline and extra JB-style horns on his 'Horns Dub', while the 'Deepah Dub' takes a housier approach while still keeping the horn stabs. Pedantic record collector and DJ, Stephen King (AKA Virgo Type), has finally started releasing some of the tracks and edits that he's been working on over the past few years with his vinyl debut on KAT Records.

Archeo Recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure (and forgotten) rare gems of Italian music of the 70s and 80s, and not only. All outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels; audio tracks are remastered in their original form; the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images. Archeo would like to make the music available to a wider audience of collectors, DJs, music lovers of a forgotten time. All releases are hand-numbered limited edition vinyl. Days of Being Wild continues their collaboration with Berlin based French producer Franz Matthews, releasing his rst solo EP, the spacey, cosmic 'Ostkreuz'.
Half of the duo Languages, whose 1st EP the label released at the end of last year, Franz Matthews explores a very different sound on his rst solo effort, all space disco, retro synths and funky guitars out.
Title track 'Ostkreuz' has been road tested by the Days of Being Wild crew on dance oors all around
Europe all of last year and has created euphoria and anticipation in equal measure.
This is a cosmic hit from outer space, all constructed around well known ingredients that thanks to Franz Matthews musical and melodic talent rise here to epic heights.
The B-side 'Guns Of Rixdorf' is another devastating peak time tune. While remaining in the same vein as 'Ostkreuz', it feels more high energy with its irresistible funky guitars calling and responding over a driving bass.
Days of Being Wild always try to pair producers with remixers that will shed a new light on their work.
It's no exception with 'Ostkreuz', who gets the reinvention treatment from no other than Moscoman and Rodion aka The Claydermans.
The cosmic vibe is still here hovering on top in the opening chords of the remix, but soon enough a sub, housier bass makes its way in the mix and won't let you go until the end. Carried by shufing claps and a bouncier beat, the groove here is totally re-invented, taking 'Ostkreuz' from peak time to the darker edges of after land.

Kapote loves the funk. And he loves Blaxploitation movies. The black underground cinema from the 1970ies. Kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. Melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. Bass lines that can create a sexual tension. Kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. And the music rolls. Often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. In the highest points this music is pure endorphin. It's 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. Kapote says he was listening to records from old Detroit label Red Planet and Parisian downtempo pioneers Motorbass and La Funk Mob while making this record. And yes, the vibe is there. Like these guys Kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. Adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.

Multi instrumentalist and deep house master Lars Bartkuhn returns to Utopia Records following his Nomad EP in April with a 10 minute masterpiece, an ode to the 'Massai'.
An epic journey of such depth and positive spirit it perhaps deserves to render a genre all to itself.
With its musicality, complex arrangement and phrasing 'Massai' is a timeless and personal statement from Bartkuhn as he seeks the essence in what dance music can and possibly should be.

As a young child growing up in Frankfurt, Bartkuhn penned his first pieces of music with a synthesizer and sequencer, bought for him by his parents upon realising their son's obsession with music.
Mastering the guitar as a teenager Bartkuhn fell deeply in love with the music of Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett and John Coltrane and styles such as Soul, Funk, Brasilian Sounds, Minimal, Dance, and others which is heard in his music today.

By the mid 90's Bartkuhn began to explore the deep and soulful side of House music and formed Lamaya Productions and the now legendary record label NEEDS (not wants) together with his older brother Marek Bartkuhn and DJ Yannick.
NEEDS rapidly became a synonym for soulful, high quality music and while labeled a 'House' music imprint it was Lars' input that lead the trio to explore alternative, and at the time unorthodox, musical influences that allowed for original textures and arrangements to be included in their productions. Countless remix commissions followed and their sound travelled worldwide with works for Francois Kevorkian, Jazztronik, Ennio Morricone, Atjazz to name a few.

To date Bartkuhn has produced five solo albums all of which demonstrate a never ending creative flow of ideas and artistic diversity, complexity and passion. After some years away from the Dance music scene, residing in Brasil, Lars decided to continue this journey on Volcov's Neroli Records, followed by a 12" for Alex Bradley's Phonica affiliated Utopia Records.
The latter release, 'Nomad' has found its way into the sets of the likes of Jeremy 'Underground' Paris, Hunee, Antal, Ron Trent, Rainer Truby, Bicep and MCDE to name just a few.
It's at this point that Bartkuhn gives us Massai...His self proclaimed finest work.

Transatlantyk return with a double header informed by the Dark Continent Label regular Universo (architect of their best EP no less) cooks up a splendid slice of culturally appropriated, campfire heat. It's Graceland era Paul Simon fed through some expertly assembled 21st century software.
On the flip Ryan R (Reynolds maybe ) offers up Umqondo. As Western Poland's answer to Awesome Tapes From Africa, we'd say he knows from whence he takes. It's a groove so thick even Dr Livingstone would have trouble hacking through it, an immersive ride though to be sure, and one which will make infinitely more sense at 4am Sunday morning than it does at midday on a Tuesday...

Boogie Beats Records debut release is the little known band Bourbon And Maxx, Mystery Man was originally released on 12" in 1981 on Esscore Records, New Jersey USA, it was a very limited press, its highly collectable and rarely comes up for sale. The original clocks in at a whopping 10:25mins with a beautiful vocal intro, this band really is a family affair with several of the members being related, and you can hear how tight they were when you listen to this song, great drums and percussion, seriously thumping bass line, great guitar and piano work with that oh so soulful voice to top it off, this is one hell of a jam. We are also very proud to have MadDisco do an edit of this song, slightly rearranging and extending the best parts.

Comprised of Sello Mmutung and Keith Hutchinson, the original six track album 'Zulu Disco' was laid down in Johannesburg circa 1983.

The original release has almost mystical qualities, no-one actually knows if it had a vinyl release or not. The only known media that exists is the cassette this was mastered from. A super strong EP that doesn't have a weak moment, side A for the full dancefloor, side B for deep afrocentric, mid-tempo chuggers. Including the original version of Picnic, later covered by Starlight and Kumasi..

For the seventh in Most Excellent Unlimited's series of collaborations with Danny Krivit, the exalted editor reshapes two classics that regularly lit up the Loft and the Paradise Garage. War's epic 1972 instrumental "City Country City" drops its placid pastoral vibes in favor of a solely urban approach, trimmed from the LP version's ten minutes to a fighting weight of six. Searing solos cresting over War's trademark Latin funk make it plain why this has long been a foundation cut for deeper dancefloors. The flip sees Mr. K showing off his skills at the edit block with a meticulous tightening of Jakki's "Sun...Sun...Sun..." The original record, a feel-good, warm weather mood- lifter, was notorious for awkward tape edits (now known to be the work of Walter Gibbons) that for years left DJs frustrated as they attempted to achieve smooth blends in the face of shifting tempos and downbeats. Krivit pulls the pieces of this Larry Levan favorite apart and reassembles them as only a veteran audio mechanic could do, giving the tune the logical musical arc it never had. While each of these tracks previously existed as singles, this is the first DJ-playable issue in the 7-inch format.

SAUCY LADY (TUGBOAT EDITS, STAR CREATURE) offers a mind blowing new version of one of the biggest Japanese pop hits of the 60s. Funky phuture funk with vocals in Japanese. Flipside features a real slow burner cover of "AMAKU KIKEN NA KAORI" by TATASURO YAMASHITA. Produced by YUKI "MONOLOG" KANESAKA.

The way that STAR CREATURE is unearthing the Japanese disco heat, some may wonder if they are "connected" Doubt it but one thing for sure, TROPICAL ECHOES has blown up in the up-n-coming Disco town of Boston & they're feeling the influence of Beantown fav's like SAUCY LADY, KON & SOUL CLAP.

On a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind Africaine 808: D Leyers and Nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. In front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene.
The boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as 'Blind Double D'. They offered to bring him home and record him. He turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good Bourbon.
He explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of Bourbon and to be left alone. The boys got him the bottle, and recorded Blind D.D. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. Unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. This added some extra funk to the recording. With Dirk and Nomad's usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track.We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do. This record is dedicated to Blind D.D, wherever he is...

Label owner TonyAdams in full swing with 'Estou Livre' which translates to (I Am Free) sure to make you feel free on any dance floor. Daniel T gets psychedelic with intoxicating vocals and percussions. Get lost in these world rhythms. Brazilian artist 'Joutro Mundo' sends us this disco chugging classic 'Nao Force' with gleaming shining vocals and a four on the flour.

Here we have the first release on Husten. Husten is a new label from Apiento (aka Paul Byrne) from Test Pressing.
'The Orange Place' by Apiento & Co was originally released on World Unknown and from there became a favourite with everyone from Todd Terje and Andrew Weatherall and the Balearic crowd. Apiento asked Wolf Mu¨ller to have a play with the track and here we are.
Wolf Mu¨ller is from Du¨sseldorf. He made his name as a DJ at the infamous Salon Des Amateurs and from there as a producer for labels like Themes For Great Cities and collaborator with the likes of Young Marco as Young Wolf.

If you're setting out on an epic voyage to the electronic disco universe, it pays to recruit an experienced pilot. When it comes to intergalactic musical fusion, few are quite as experienced as cosmic disco pioneer and noted dancefloor explorer Daniele Baldelli.

Produced alongside friend and regular studio partner Dario Piana, Zero Gravity cannily updates Baldelli's early '80s cosmic disco blueprint for the 21st century. We think that the EP contains some of his strongest music to date, with each of the three cuts offering subtle nods to the Italian maestro's original Cosmic Club ethos.

A-side Infinity Machine' expertly combines many of Baldelli's greatest musical inspirations into one mind-bending late night workout. Underpinned by a druggy, arpeggio style bassline, the track rises and falls through waves of funk-rock guitars, crunchy Clavinet lines and intertwined synthesizer solos. Throw in jammed-out electric pianos, and you have a near perfect fusion of cosmic disco and blazed funk-rock.

The producer's long-held love of African rhythms surfaces on If You Drive', where bold acid bass, ricocheting percussion hits and weightless chords combine beautifully with starry melody lines and vintage analogue synthesizer motifs. It's Afro-cosmic for the nu-disco generation.

A fine EP is completed by Air Lock', in which Baldelli and Piana pepper a rubbery, electrofunk-influenced groove with cascading synthesizer melodies, swirling pads and a swathe of fuzzy, eyes-closed guitar solos. It's bold and assertive, but also as otherworldly and stratospheric as you'd expect from a pioneer at the peak of his powers.
