Futureboogie open their 2017 account with a new release from Lizards, the Newcastle based duo otherwise known as Lee Forster and James Hadfield. After appearances on labels like Leng Records, Join Our Club and Not An Animal Records, Lizards strut their stuff across two original tracks, whilst man of the moment Lord Of the Isles weighs in with a superb remix.
The percussion driven house of 'Tzatziki' kicks of the release, wrapped in warm and inviting pads and piano riffs. Shades of old school Chicago house meet sun-kissed Balearic vibes on this early morning riser, as the heavyweight bass sounds curl around the raw drum programming and illuminating keys sprinkle over the production.
On 'Aloof', the tempo is taken down somewhat, as a bass line wanders over a steady kick and otherworldly ambient sounds and hushed vocal clips lazily glide over the 4/4 arrangement. As the track unfurls, more melodic and percussive elements come into play, blossoming into a something quite epic and unique.
With a slew of releases for quality imprints like Permanent Vacation, Firecracker, Mule Musiq and ESP Institute, Neil McDonald, AKA Lord Of The Isles, serves up a deliciously chugging version of 'Aloof'. Gurgling bass and marching handclaps are dowsed in dramatic synth sweeps and glacial tones, as the good Lord takes us on a monumental ride.

Venezuelan extraordinaire producer Trujillo is back with a new set of sun-injected future nostalgia cuts on Apersonal Music. Street soul and Trip-Hop atmospheres deliciously blended together transports you back to a remote paradisiac beach in the heart of the Venezuelan caribbean coast. Both tracks feature the seductive voice of Colombian Paulo Olarte and a very exclusive appearance from tropical disco maestro Daniel Grau in "Hola Como Estas" on the piano. To complete the journey the flip side runs through the exquisite balearic tool mix of "Everytime I Think Of U" by Norwegian producer Telephones, feeling hypnotic and sophisticated. El Caribe te lo da!

We're not done celebrating our 10th Anniversary at the Still Music headquarters and we've decided to continue diggin' for some treats from our vaults.

After we've released the critically acclaimed "Kill Yourself Dancing! The Story Of Sunset Records Inc. 1985-89", a lot of our friends were asking us for some specific 12"s to be repressed. We felt obliged to comply and here we go with three of the most significant 12"s from Sunset Records Inc.

Finally, the third repress is a treat for all. Championed at the time by Derrick May and recently played by Marcel Dettmann at Berghain. Ben Mays - Lover Man / Jailbait is for any fan of Larry Heard and the deep Chicago house that we're all fond of. This 12" features Keith Nunnally, vocalist for J.M. Silk that had to keep his name under wraps at the time.

Leo James delivers Salvation, his third installment in an ongoing series of 12"s that sees him exploring a single conceptual theme across both sides of a record.

Salvation (Part 1) burns slowly, a hybrid of industrial and balearic beat. Salvation (Part 2) builds on a relentless, monotone bass line. Metal percussion enveloped in swirling reverb interplays with programmed congas and white noise. Support from Jamie Tiller, Soft Rocks and Suzanne Kraft.

Nu-disco hero 80s Child has come a long way since Masterworks Vol 1, the inaugural release on his Masterworks label a year and a half ago. Non Plus Ultra : the legend talks about an inscription, which was cleaved on Calpe and Abila mountains by Hercules. They make up the famous "Pilars of Hercules", the same colums that definited the extreme limit of the Ancient world. But "Non plus ultra" also indicates the sense of perfection and elegance par excellence. This is the reason which drove our choice for the title of our first release. First commissioned by the French Government in 1981, the LP Rose Des Vents evolved out of a six year project by Swiss composer Pierre Mariétan to document and musicalise the sound environment of urban landscapes within France, creating an inter-geographical auditory map of cities and townships located in the suburban reaches of Paris, including Bezons, Herblay, Montmagny and l'Isle Adam. Through a mix of field recording, interviews, vegetable market catcalls, braying animals and urban hubbub, Mariétan paints a broad, psycho-acoustically vivid and decentralised profile of metropolitan life from the period; carried to the ear through a coupling with musical studio performance and serialist compositional technique. Over an hour and forty minutes, the recording provides an intersectional and ambient passage through environmental and urban narratives, the radiophonic voice of Ana de Carvalho offering fleeting, poetic orientation with announcements of each titled scene, divining and evoking the sonorous qualities of each landscape as it comes into focus. Each scene tangible yet non-specific, the artist arranging and signalling the possibility of civic and pastoral space as a musical container for spontaneous, sonorous interactions.

Messalina keeps up the pressure with another fantastic assortment of Balearic gems including a heavy steel drum version of the classic 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone', plus 'Peace & War', a throbbing Afro disco groover with phat bass, funky synths, killer piano hook and a great positive message. It's over to Brazil on the flip with the brilliant 'Katarina', a slo-mo chugger full of Rio flavour edited to perfection by Balearic maestro Andy Kidd with the promo already receiving a lot of attention in Ibiza. Lastly we have 'Crioula', Lucci Capri's floor friendly version of a lost Jose Roberto samba funk classic. Top quality all the way.

Sascha Ciminiera is a familiar face from Footjob, member of the label's own Supergroup 'Pallaspeople' and also famous for his tasty Bolognese sauce. With 'Lights' he created a dreamy balearic tune that found its way into Gerd Janson's Groove Podcast. As a consequence, Janson and his partner in crime Phillip Lauer AKA Tuff City Kids played around with the 808 and turned it to a great dancefloor version. Phonk D completed the jubilee release with a classic House rework and on top, the Tuff City Kids Remix is added as a dub version. MOTHER RECORDINGS is back once again with more of the floor filling beats that has made it one of the top labels of recent times. This latest is from SIMION, a producer with ties to labels like Suara and Hedoismn and one who here serves up two top cuts just in time for summer.

First up is CAN U FEEL IT, which is six minutes of ruling deep house with nervy melodies. Great vocal samples help add fire to the groove and it's easy to see this one getting some great reactions on the floor with its pure feel good house stylings.

DEEP INSIDE MY SOUL is a more jacked up and winky track with frazzled bass, rapped vocals and tons of energy in the drums and percussion. It is one that will send crowds wild when it explodes, and is a fat groove full of fun.

Once more MOTHER RECORDINGS comes correct with a pair of fine tracks from the always excellent SIMION.

Our man DILBY is back in the house with another top shelf EP on offer. This one is dedicated to his skateboarding roots, as you might recognize from the track titles.

First up is LEAP OF FAITH which is a rough bouncy house cut with a swinging beat and driving sub for maximum impact. As the track keeps pushing forward it presents and organ and piano melody which brings the funky feeling to the next level, ready to rip the party in half once the uplifting female vocal arrives!

HUBBA HIDEOUT brings a deeper atmosphere with chunky tribal drums and a lush arpeggio melody. A spine-tingling vocal is introduced which brings the track to a lush, hands up climax for hugs and smiles on the dance floor. Then the beat drops with a heavy synth riff to remind the crowd that they are there to dance and get loose again.

Mystifying Stump Valley mixed House and Disco to a Balearic, almost hypnotic Ambient zen'. According to legend Stump Valley moved their whole studio offline and into the woods.

Mysteries. Adventures in Paradise. In a world where we got it all clear and cut. It pays to see between the lines This track first caught our attention in the series of yen parties we did last year across Europe, and every time this tune got the ID treatment. He followed it up quickly with the soul burning Joonya. Both tracks are beasts in the club, and we hope you feel them too.

Bicep continue to welcome new artists into the fold as they expand their Feel My Bicep imprint with a 12' from fresh signees Tim Sweeney and Lauer operating under T&P. Number 10 in their release catalogue comes as a single titled 'Hail Falls' which includes remixes from Dark Sky and fellow Irishman Hammer. Having introduced their collaboration through a self released record on Sweeney's own Beats In Space back in 2016 - T&P continue to develop this fruitful relationship and roll out more Disco-tinged Acid in a manner that suits them perfectly to a release on Feel My Bicep.
Monkeytown and Black Acre affiliates Dark Sky then expand on their illustrious catalogue not only with their forthcoming LP for Monkeytown but with a remix here that sees the original's rich melodies spread over intricate, skipping rhythms. Then Hammer weighs in with his own bold, punchy take. Galvanised drums and a sharpened melodies lift the original into more tense territory as another strong addition to the imprint is capped off.

Brian Ellis known for his collaborations with legends Egyptian Lover, Howard Johnson also the modern funk contemporaries like Zackey Force Funk and XL Middleton, 'Mirror/Mirror' showcases Brian's handling of all instruments, vocals, mixing and production. Drawing from classic 70s west coast AOR to obscure french library music and early 80s funk presenting a timeless contemporary sound. Combining analog synths (Oberheim OB8, Minimoog Model D, Yamaha DX7, and more), live guitar, intricate drumming, smooth vocals with excellent songwriting have come together like never before. Sure to be a classic record in the years to come.

Aspecto Humano presents his second release to date with an Anbau EP, where the couple from Barcelona continues its personal trip through a synthetic universe, dyed with influences from another era. Along with their tracks Franck Kartell's remix enriches the trip with a melodic electro, yet a bit more contemplative vision of 'Bushido'. Finally, Hyboid redefines 'LSD', building a new track with his distinctive synthwave imprint.

Cynic return after a years heitus with a couple tracks from label boss Felix Dickinson. Meat and potatoes by Mr.Dickinson and additional noodles from Robin Lee. Acidic dance music for your feet.

Perched on a crossroad, Pin Up Club approaches electronic music with a magpie's nature. A spread of styles has been picked, plucked and plundered to make 'Friends Of The Vortex'. The title piece snaps with clean beats as Blade Runner bars build with an energy that can only be described as palpable. Latin percussion and samples get the groove going for 'Children Of The Void'. Flirting, the tone twirls and turns. Keys are big and full bodied, balanced perfectly by the crack of a snare. 'Out Of The Unknown' closes. A slow burning piece brimming with brooding cinematic shapes and strings, a work that shows the colder edge of this dutch duo. Quality through and through.

The DJs/producers trio from Marseille, Fafa Monteco, Stéphane B and Mike 303 founded the band SUPERFUNK in 1998.
From the very beginning, they became French Touch leaders with Funky House remixes for Bob Sinclar, Neneh Cherry, Gus Gus, etc... and their first single "Come back" was a hit in clubs.
They released their album "Hold up" in February 2000, which contained the original versions of club favourites "Last Dance", "Lucky Star" (hit featuring the American singer Ron Carroll, at the top of the charts in many countries) and "The Young MC" !

Klamauk is back and ready to drop their first release of 2017 with this excellent cut from Moony Me. The Austrian artist has already turned heads with a string of quality records dropping since 2012 and this current release is up to his usual high standards channelling deep, sample driven house vibes. The EP opens with City of Storms', a knowing nod to soulful Chicago and a lovely Iron Curtis rework that seriously does the business. Over on the flip we have Puzzle Shuffle' which packs lots of energy with the main hook, and will surely be a hit on the dancefloor. For Glass Jungle Chant' Moony Me uses a lighter touch with intricate live percussion, lovely chords and a squelchy sub bass.

Two years we've had to wait for the second in Skinnerbox's Edits series on Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs, but as the saying goes... All good things...Having wow'd us with their bravery in taking on Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' on #1 - a track that's still receiving airplay from Gilles Peterson - the German duo turn their attentions from Jazz to Rock, with a brand new brace of respectful reworks. On the A we have Skinnerbox's edit of "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by English post-punk band Bauhaus. The song was the band's first single, released on 6 August 1979 by record label Small Wonder. Often considered the first gothic rock record, many see it as a seminal classic that went on to influence the later Goth scene. The B-side plays host to Skinnerbox's edit of 'Gouge Away' by American alternative rock band, Pixies. The original features on their classic album 'Doolittle' from '89, a massive indie success in the UK. The band hugely influenced the grunge scene.Delicate and respectful edits from the duo, that see these two classic tracks expertly tailored for the dancefloor.
