Dutch master Orlando Voorn with a two-track release containing some of his pioneering material as Format. Rightly recognised as one of a handful of artists who built the early, crucial bridges between Europe and Detroit in the late-eighties and early nineties via collaborations with Juan Atkins and output for KMS, Voorn's legacy is unquestionable. Winning Holland's DMC championships in 1986 and 1987 was the real career catalyst and there seems to be no let up in quality since then, either as a DJ or a multifaceted, multi-genre producer. These two tracks are produced in 1993 and still didnt loose their magic! ''Damn Right'' and ''Jam Session'' have that the raw charm, edge and vibe sounds so current. Energetic, melodic and broken, both tracks touch on a myriad of styles but what shines through is how modern electronic styles can be traced back to this sort of fantastic, unique output. Format Remastered could be sitting snuggly alongside modern house, techno, UK Garage, UK Funky and many more 'contemporary' styles. This is a rare chance to grab beautifully treated versions of classic Voorn material.

Founded by Alex Agore and James Johnston last year, No Matter What Recordings has proved to be a potent outlet for the duo's inimitable take on crisp rolling house sounds in the label's short life to date and this fourth release maintains those standards. After two solo EPs from the respective label heads, the deftly titled A2J2 EP mimics the label debut with a pair of productions from both, with Berlin resident Alex Agore calling shotgun. Muddy vocals and old school piano lines soar through the shamelessly vibing pump of "Come On" while "Take Me" has Agore in a deeper frame of mind, unfurling the various melodic textures with aplomb over a crashing beat. Not to be outdone, JJ opts for a rawer swinging approach with "Stand Up & Jump" utilising a similar cut up vocal sound which gets increasingly submerged amidst the thick, twisting groove. "Not So Easy" might just be the pick of the bunch however, swamping the intricate drum programming in a rich melange of Motor City Soul that sucks you right in.

killer return from RAW FUSION, with ART BLEEK kicking it big time with a bumping track somewhere between "deep burn" and "la ritournelle" with a definit dancefloor appeal. b side gets a more chicagoan tip on charleston blues, followed by a personal fav of mine on the deeeeeeep "outerspace soul" on a more balearic tip.

Flying the French flag are remixes from D'Julz and Seuil. Joining the French team is Burnski, the young English Berlin-based DJ/Producer who recently rocked Real Tone Records with his latest collaboration with MANIK "You Know What It's Like". 2012 sees Detroit label, KMS Records, celebrating it's 25th Anniversary.
Founded in 1987, by Kevin Maurice Saunderson, his first release was 'Triangle Of Love' produced by, 'Kreem', (just one of his many guises), little did Saunderson know, at that time, that two and a half decades later, he would still be releasing music on his KMS label.
Let's go back to the beginning... Born in Brooklyn in 1964, Saunderson moved to the picturesque Detroit suburb of Belleville, when he was nine, a different world to the urban decay of the city itself.
Saunderson has an enviable dual reputation. To the dance cognoscenti he's one of the 'Belleville Three,' (with Saunderson being the 'Elevator', Juan Aktkins being the 'Originator' and Derrick May being the 'Innovator'), the trio of friends invented Detroit Techno.
The trio met at Belleville High School where, Saunderson befriended Juan Atkins and Derrick May, who introduced him to the eclectic post-disco playlists of Detroit radio DJ Charles 'The Electrifying Mojo' Johnson. ' Johnson played disco, funk, Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, the B52's and Tangerine Dream, to name just a few. Saunderson already had a serious love for music, but he didn't realise he was going to produce music, until then.
In his first year at East Michigan University, where he studied telecommunications, he gave up football to become a DJ himself. He took inspiration from visits to Larry Levan's Paradise Garage in New York and Frankie Knuckles' Warehouse and Music Box in Chicago. Saunderson, Atkins and May, played at campus parties, until setting up their own club in Detroit, the fabled Music Institute.
Of the 'Belleville Three' Atkins was the first to make a record, with electro group Cybotron's 'Alleys of Your Mind' in 1981, then May, with Rhythim is Rhythim's 'Nude Photo' in 1987. Inspired by his friends, Saunderson bought some basic equipment and made his own debut in 1987 with 'Triangle Of Love'. 'I just had a good ear and a good heart for music,' he says. 'Juan Atkins led me into DJing which led me into making extra beats to play in my set. Then I started learning how to play basslines, putting a lot of work in, just elevating it from there'
Undeniably, Saunderson is a gifted producer (going under guises such as Reese, E-Dancer, Tronikhouse and Reese Project), remixer and a tireless international DJ. To lovers of great pop music he's also one third of Inner City, who made regular visits to the Top 20 in the late 80s with jubilant hits like 'Big Fun' and 'Good Life', paving the way for hundreds of underground-to-chart crossover records to come.
On a visit to England in 1988 Saunderson realised that a mythology had built up around the 'Belleville Three'. To his even greater surprise, 'Big Fun' became not just a massive club record but a pop hit. He also helped to revolutionise remixing when he worked on 'We Know It' by Wee Papa Girl Rappers. Over the following decade Saunderson would continue to produce imaginative remixes for the likes of New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Shamen, Paula Abdul and the Lighthouse Family.
Even whilst travelling the globe, djing or touring with Inner City, Saunderson continued to produce and release not only his own tracks on his KMS label (with tracks such as 'The Sound' by Reese, 'Rock To The Beat' by Reese, 'Truth Of Self Evident' by Reese & Santonio, 'Let's, Let's, Let's, Let's Dance' by Keynotes and 'Colour Of Love' by The Reese Project), but he also released tracks by other up and coming artists, releasing classic underground gems, such as 'Flash' by Fix, 'Can You Feel It' by Chez Damier, 'Soundscape' by Kosmic Messenger, 'Definition Of Love' by Kaos and 'Use Me' by R-Tyme. The list is endless.
Fast forward to 2012 and it's hard to believe that KMS is still releasing records. With such a long history, what better way to celebrate than to release a special CD Boxset. The 'KMS 25th Anniversary Classics' will be released on CD, Digital (and for those vinyl collectors, there will be 6 x 12' Samplers). Each format includes a plethora of gems which have been released on KMS over the last 25 years.
KMS may be celebrating it's 25th Anniversary, but there's no slowing down for Kevin Saunderson. He's still producing, remixing and djing (all over the world). Here's to the next 25 years....

As if Futureboogie would leave you without a fix for long, the Bristol imprint is back with another new signing for their tenth release, DJs and musical magicians Last Waltz. Their debut release 'Trinket' is a thrilling cosmic ride featuring a remix from London party dynamos Bad Passion.
Opening track 'Trinket' brings a kinetic tempo and dancefloor pulse but leads into the running futuristic theme with offbeat glockenspiels, distorted pools of bass, shooting synths and dramatic piano motifs. Next track 'Ashes' is a cosmic voyage for the open road. Arpeggiated keys and chugging beats imbue a filmic, epic feel and the deep, sprawling bass and expansive melody create a magnificent tension as swirling pads keep the atmosphere dreamy and the percussive workout builds layers and depth.
On remix duty, the London based collective Bad Passion deliver a more stomping club work out of 'Trinket' with rolling tribal drums, bells and a manipulation of the melody whilst retaining the high cinematic drama of the original with soaring strings. Hailing from the North East, the Bad Passion boys Chris Stoker, Andy Bainbridge and Dan Mitchell have spent the past four years gaining a loyal following for their underground club night of the same name and have started producing original material together as well as various solo projects all of which will be revealed via their own imprint.

Expanding on its global mandate, Culprit touches down in Germany in its talent search. Essen-based Ahmet Sisman is the next new artist to be added to the label's burgeoning clan of contributors, with 'Dance with the White Rabbit' EP - two originals of sparkling and exciting electronic house. Nico Lahs and Audiofly, long friends of the label, add their skills and charisma remixing the anthemic title track.
Ahmet Sisman is exactly the kind of a producer Culprit is becoming known for supporting - young yet experienced, bubbling-just-under-the-surface artists on the verge of exploding into a wider dance music consciousness. Though still a relative newcomer, Sisman has been making quite an impression with releases for such big guns like Cocoon, Dumb-Unit and Lessizmore over the past 4 years. Ahmet immediately staked a claim to a sound distinctly his own, that infuses the European electronic music tradition with influences spawned by his upbringing in Turkey. Best known for slightly darker tech-house sound so far, for his debut Culprit release Sisman brings his melodic talent to the fore. Yet another producer inspired by Culprit's chosen sonic palette, Sisman unleashes two songs that merge keen dance floor sensibility with warm electronic currents, underpinned by euphoric synthesizer warmth and subtly soulful influences that interpret the label's sound in unique ways.
'Dance with the White Rabbit' is one of the most unabashedly big and anthemic songs ever to be come out on Culprit, with its layers of sweeping synth melodies, a vocal hook and explosive dynamics surely made for some of the more tasteful big rooms this summer. 'Hello to Alice' is a moodier and more rhythmically forceful counterpart to the A side, its warm Juno chord-driven middle perfectly Culprit. The dancefloor damage done by both originals is undeniable.
Audiofly land a remixing hand with a typically low slung and groovy take, its bassline and disarmingly unaffected vocal supremely effective. This slightly wistful yet compulsively hip-swaying version will find favour among the early or late night denizens. Back on the label after his memorable 'Lost In My Soul' was released last year, Nico Lahs offers an immaculately smooth and melodic take on 'Dance', certain to impress the many fans of the Italian electronic Deep House sound, whose other proponents Tale of Us, Clockwork have been taking the discerning dancefloors by storm

In recent times it has been fashionable for European producers to try and recreate the classic sounds of Detroit. The true vibe and feel can surely only come from the City itself As his name suggests, whilst we know very little about Anonym, we do know that he hails from the legendary Motor City, and the true essence of his home town can be heard and felt in his music. Classic sounds constructed with a modern touch. Gritty, raw and crying out for sweaty basements.

The latest offering from Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral's On the Prowl features the work of Evan Stalker, a Los Angeleno who's a visual artist by day and a production wiz by night. The four songs included on this 12' are meticulously-layered, lusciously-arranged deep house jams of the highest quality.
The record kicks off with 'Parkway,' the chillest of the package. It's an easy, swinging tune that ebbs and flows like the Pacific during high tide with jittery synth ditties dancing off the atmospheric washes.
The A2 is Runaway's remix, and while they leave the original structure mostly intact, they add some oomph to the bass kicks and distort the melodies, fuzzing and glitching them out to yield a more hard-edged final product.
The flip's first tune, 'Downtown,' is, as the name implies, of a more urban nature, and definitely intended for a late-night warehouse rager. Anxiously, the song pushes ahead with an aggressive, pumping bass line and frantic, sharp synth chords, assertive handclaps, and a hi-hat that's got plenty of swagger.

It's been a long time coming but House Sound is back with its fourth release. Nicholas' label brings together five emerging talents for a huge 12 release. Mat Chiavaroli and Massimo Di Lina take care of the A side with two low down deep house grooves. The B-side is a funky affair with tracks from Jordan Peak, Bubbin' Dub and Yuri Shulgin. Absolute killer!

For our 5th release on secretsundaze we are very happy to welcome back Jamie Taylor, more commonly known as Flori to the fold. Of course some may have already heard Secretsundaze 003: 'Shelter', a charming track Flori wrote with sometime partner and friend Ethyl, both regular guests playing at secretsundaze from our 10th Birthday Party in London to Sonar, that came complete with a more technoey Rolando remix. Well he's back already, this time flying solo with the 'Lucy' 12".

Slowly it's all over town, Chymera's second album 'Death By Misadventure' is about to be released. Genre-wise it is difficult to name as Chymera plays with styles like Detroit, Deep-House, Breaks and even Electronica. However, the common denominator is the typical feeling Chymera is able to create, which he took to another level during the album process. As a whole, the album is a cinematic wall of sound, more relaxed than you might expect from him, but still dominated by tunes with imperative grooves and alluring synths. One of them is 'Strange Things Are Afoot', an upbuilder which captivates straight from the beginning, right towards the break, where the emotional element - the typical Chymera synth - puts you under a spell. A perfect tastemaker for the album. On the flip side, we are happy to have two highly valued artists from the infamous Delsin imprint as remixers: Conforce and Claro Intelecto. Conforce's remix treatment is a classic Detroit stomper with a manic groove. Timeless from beginning to end. Claro Intelecto, who has just released a wonderful album on Delsin, goes deep with his remix. Strong in the beats and sophisticated in the sounds, he brillantly rounds up this release.

The title track has Kenny Larkin Vibes, with the Max D style cosmic twists we love down here. Slick is sick too! Features a remix from another certified hemp eater, Terekke, who amazed us with awesome White label on L.I.E.S. last year...Killer package on this excellent label.TIP!
Future Times presents a new Max D 12", with a remix by Terekke! Max is back from the jungles of "Polo", and he's shed some of the atmosphere to make two cuts in full precision mode. "Orgies Of The Hemp Eaters" swings between Sakamoto romanticism and classic bass euphoria while the drums almost snap the track apart. Terekke, fresh off hot wax on NYC's L.I.E.S. label, steps in next with his "Can't Get Enuff Mix" and punishes with a smudged version. B-side "Slick" streamlines the flow into a taut, intricate frenzy - a meditation on melody and the pure bliss of machines.

Vanguard Sound is back with it's newest record. Chris Mitchell's Phrenetic EP! is Vanguard Sound's second release.
Coming on the heels of the wildly popular Vanguard Sound vol. 3, this EP continues to uphold the aesthetic created with the first release, while simultaneously expanding it. The Phrenetic EP features four tracks from the mind and studio of a quickly rising North American talent that all walk the fine line between house and techno. All are very complex rhythmically, with both banging drums, and lush tones. A perfect 3 way marriage of classic Chicago, Detroit, and New York vibrations, the record contains set peaks, as well as transitional tracks that allow DJ's to traverse from house to techno and back. Already receiving massive amounts of positive feedback, this EP is proving to be a more than worthy follow up to VS001.

Following up the superb recent GDX release, Austria's Phlox label teams up with Italian producer Hydergine for a brilliant EP of dub techno featuring a remix from Group Niob.
Austrian label Phlox was launched in 2009 by electronic music veterans Martin Sovinz and Gerhard Potuznik with the clear intend of releasing quality underground music with little regard for genre. In the intervening years the imprint has put out a string of outstanding singles and build a solid fan base for its eclectic approach.
The latest release from Phlox sees the label teaming up with young producer Roberto Corizzo AKA Hydergine for a follow up to his debut 2011 single on Separate Skills. Corizzo hails from Southern Italy where he has immersed himself in electronic music from an early age, forging a love of dub techno guided by the sounds of Basic Channel, Maurizio etc. Now he sits among Italian contemporaries such as Lucy & Decoside as a respected proponent of Italy's burgeoning deep techno scene.
The 'Cosmic Synegism' single offers up three brand new original tracks from Corizzo in the shape of 'Quadrant System', 'Perpetual Moon' and title track 'Cosmic Syngerism'. The three cuts each delve into the hypnotic realm of deep and dubby techno, dripping with tape delay and bordered by razor sharp percussion they are a brilliant example of quality techno, lovingly produced. The package is closed with a superb remix from label bosses Sovinz & Potuznik under their Group Niob moniker, here they take apart 'Cosmic Synergism' and rework it into a deep yet intense remix that is a perfect closing piece.
This is another sterling single from a label who can be looked to for quality with each and every release.

Joey Negro compiles pure ghetto funk from Washington DC...
GoGo Get Down is the latest compilation from Dave Lee aka Joey Negro to be released on the Z Records label. A mammoth and rare retrospective of Washington DC's spectrum of Ghetto Funk, this collection showcases the visionary side of the GoGo scene while bringing its key artists the modern exposure they deserve.
Joey Negro gives us an insight into the vintage rhythms and chiming cowbells as well as the dedicated soul screams that pierce through the retro soul rhythm that gives GoGo its distinctive sound.
GoGo Get Down is a must for have any serious soulful record collector' Jazzie B, March 2012

So it's great you guys are doing a comp of GoGo killers which in the scheme of things could prove us both wrong. A fantastic selection and believe me I shall be throwing down very hard! New York based producer returns to Rush Hour with a new single with FaltyDL & Tom Trago mixes!
Policy is part of a new wave of NYC house and electronic producers, alongside FaltyDL, Braille and
Machinedrum (the latter two also record together as Sepalcure). He debuted last year with his
'Specialty Party' single on Rush Hour.
Policy is spending a lot of time in the studio to shape his sound and work on his debut album
'Everything Hits'. As a taster we are now releasing 'One Last Time' in its orginal format as well as
remixes of Amsterdam's Tom Trago and fellow New Yorker FaltyDL.
'One Last Time' reveals Policy's background as a cinematographer as the track has a very cinematic
feel to it, as does most of his music. Though its is an emotive piece with a strong theme, the drum
track is fierce and gives the track a futuristic vibe. Its house music redefined and we love it. We
can't wait to hear more music of.. Policy!
To spice things up, Tom Trago teams up with studio partner Maxi Mill and delivers a tough, stripped
down 909 house version. FaltyDL on the other end went exploring in electronic adventure land and
turn up with a really exciting and fresh composition. Mind bending stuff!
