Alejandro Mosso - Nightwalker - Losoul Remix

The last time Alejandro Mosso released one of his original productions on Airdrop, he was still operating under his Funzion alias. Released in April 2008 and designed with Franco Cinelli, the Singa*Pure EP left a distinctive footprint on many wooden and concrete floors. The Mendoza-born producer is now back, revealing here one of the highlights of the new live performance he has presented throughout Europe and Japan over the last year, 'Nightwalker' - a cutthroat, synth-driven number, which slightly departs from Mosso's usual signature sound. On the flip, who better to spread some funk and soot than legendary Frankfurt artist LoSoul One cannot possibly forget his 2008 title 'West Side Horn' on Playhouse - the one that actually made us think how most appropriate the LoSoul treatment would be on Nightwalker... we were not wrong!

18.09.2012

After starring on the One Records various artists release earlier this year with the heavy-duty hit 'Gorilla', DC10 hero DJ W!ld is back on board the label with 'Circo Fever' featuring two original tracks with remixes from label boss Adam Shelton, fellow DC10 legend Clive Henry and one of Portugal's finest exports, Rui Da Silva.
Keeping in touch with true DJ W!ld style, the aptly named 'Circo Fever' perfectly pinpoints the chugging house sound that the prolific French artist has become so well known for. Riding out along a solid groove of rolling pacey percussions, the epic synths soon sweep in for a dramatic affair and all engulfing dance floor effect. An electrifying breakdown is central with the powerful bass and magnetic vocals coming back into play for an intoxicating sensation. Tried and tested by some of the biggest names in the business including label heads Subb -an and Adam Shelton there is no doubt this is the essential DJ weapon of the summer.

Torquato & Boghosian - Torquato & Boghosian Remixes

Following on from Torquato and Boghosian's acclaimed debut on Yoruba is this, a selection of remixes diverse and interesting enough to do justice to the original LP, which received praise for the rich tapestry of musical sources it drew influence from.First up, Afefe Iku delivers a much deeper, weightier version of Paradice laden with heavy synth stabs and woody percussive elements.Aybee takes When U Touch Me - probably the standout 'club track' on the original LP - into much deeper realms, stripping back the original groove . It's remarkably simple but flawlessly executed, the chord motif working effortlessly alongside the crisp hats.
Atone tackles Zulu Girl and in the process unravels a much more mechanical track, a massive mid-tempo thud dominating over delayed cymbal crashes and ghostly vocals.

collecting for a repress !!!
New L.I.E.S! They did it again!! Check!
Just when we had our doubts about the West Coast, Los Angeles via NYC producer Delroy Edwards steps up with his debut release for L.I.E.S. Musically Edwards takes his influences from that Barney's Ghetto sound with oversaturated 909 shuffling highs, DX bells, 101 filters and ends up making fresh, and yes, melodic ghetto style tracks that somehow get stuck in your head even without vocals. A unique take on a modern classic with the dancefloor in mind.

Factory Floor - 2 Different Ways Remixes

Factory Floor offer up a substantial distraction while the band put the finishing touches on their debut album, due out on DFA Records in early 2013. Their last single "Two Different Ways" is remixed by two different electronic music leaders. Richard H Kirk, co-founder of both Cabaret Voltaire and Sweet Exorcist, puts his own warped spin on the single, while Perc aka Ali Wells, takes the original and piles on his signature throbbing bass for the main remix. Perc also offers up a 'Noisy Mix' taking avant waves of feedback and noise and shaping into something unexpectedly beautiful.

12inchGWX001
11.09.2012

The first gotwax! release features label owner b-trak with a two-track EP with dub-inspired analog sounding techno and house music that invites you on a journey between the dancefloor and pure listening pleasure.
'Infinity' brings you to an ethereal space of subtly changing, reverberating chords substantiated down-low by a warm and heavy bass line combined with a tough bass drum that pushes you forcefully further towards an indefinite horizon. Driven by smooth pads, sizzling HiHats and Claps, yet minimalist all around, 'Infinity' takes you on an endless trip into the deepness of time and space. On the flipside, 'The Answer' is a more raw production where chords meet each other in a short feedback loop and the bass line gives the underlying serious reply. Claps, HiHats and a marvelous mind-bending pad nothing more, nothing less lock you into the groove with no possibility to escape. A track that is hard to resist.
Mastering & Cut by Andreas 'Lupo' Lubich at Dubplates & Mastering. Pressed by Optimal-Media each record is Hand-Stamped.

Marco Zenker - Twenty-three

The summer is bad as always in Munich, but that's no reason to not have fun and spreading out the fire cuts. The 12 starts off with Anisa, dedicated to Marco's lady in mind and partner in wine. The eastern influences from his hood aren't easy to ignore, and if u listen very carefully u can feel and smell the shisha dust inside the Landwehr street.
In a city like Munich it's hard to rent an extra room for a studio due the extremely high prices, so we all have bedroom studios with the advantage that we can do music whenever we feel to.
However our Stressin turkish Neighbour behaves like THE pain in the ass of the whole neighbourhood.
But we all have a Vision and the Night gives us the support we need to create our own space and our own time within our own spirit on 180 g vinyl from now on with a vinyl only cut on every 12.

Big Strick - Resivior Dogs

The Detroit veteran and "cousin to Omar-S" known as Leonard "Big Strick" Strickland returns with the follow-up to his well-received 2011 long player, Detroit Heat. Where that largely stuck to deep house, this set casts the net much wider, offering a mixture of sparse, melodic techno, hypnotic tech house and even ambient moods (check the luscious "Days Gone") alongside Strickland's simple-bit-effective deep house. Check, for example, the classic Detroit revivalism of "Reese Cup", the chiming melodies and jackin' beats of "Code 1" and the curious piano jazz of "Slow Ride". There's also a track written with friend Omar-S, the wonderfully deep and fluid "Family Affair".

Fabio Monesi & Mirco Violi - Back To Back Part.1

First release on vinyl for the Sicilian Aurour Records!
We have chosen for the debut of our first release on vinyl two Italian artists, new talent and owner of Wilson Records, Fabio Monesi, and the affirmed producer Mirco Violi.
The release is a good quality split, a mix of '90s underground classic sounds in Fabio Monesi's tracks, and most Deep sounds in Mirco Violi's tracks.
In A Side we can find the deeply house tracks by Fabio Monesi: "Drugsnare", energetic and by the title we can imagine that the snare leads the track."Machine", where the softer synth drags you along with the female voice In B-side we have, instead, the two tracks by Mirco Violi, where the Deep sound envelops you in a long journey through vintage sounds and hypnotic synths.Do not miss this split of pure MADE IN ITALY sound.

UK's Fudge Fingas debuts on Rush Hour with his S.V.T. EP, which includes the modern soul classic 'Snow Day'.
Fudge Fingas aka Gavin Sutherland, mostly known for his releases on Prime Numbers and Firecracker, has been quite prolific over the past few years with releases out on various labels, but when he approached us with this three track demo, it was just too good to leave it untouched.
'Snow Day' is a dream-perfect, lullaby-like, reminiscing-heavy song about a... snow day. We are not sure why, as there is not much sun in the UK last time we checked, but we are sure that this song is so hot it will melt away any cold day.'Vin 2 Win' lifts us up and reminisces us back to back to the good old days somewhere in the mid nineties when Underground Resistance was giving is their take on 21st century funk. Amazing keyboard business.'Trans Pennine Express' closes off this EP in a delightfully deep manner. A great tune to close off the night, or start up your day.Three cheers for Fudge Fingas!

Out Of The Ashes

12inchFRBOXSET01
Freerange
04.09.2012

n August 4th 2011, the Sony Music warehouse in Enfield, North London was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. The warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of CDs and vinyl stored by the distributor PIAS including the back catalogue of Freerange. The blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.
Vinyl is beloved of many not just for its retro appeal and alchemic audio qualities, but because of its physicality, the very real and tangible connection it gives you to the sound and art of music. Increasing interest in small scale and localised events like listening parties and Record Store Day proved that while vinyl might be an archaic niche interest in some respects, its power in binding together musical communities and inspiring passion and loyalty is still very real and current. Which is why we've brought together this box set of tracks from 12's lost in the fire and other music previously unavailable on vinyl: not to commemorate wanton destruction, or to mourn a loss, but to celebrate a lesson learned and a passion rekindled. Out of the ashes comes renewed determination to build for the future.
Trying to represent the label and artists from over one hundred and fifty 12's and thirty LP's was never going to be an easy task. We wanted to included a mixture of out-of-press favourites (Jimpster's Dangly Panther and Milton Jackson's Ghost In The Machines) as well as more recent digital only releases (Deetron's mix of Tony Lionni and Axel Boman's mix of Lovebirds) to give both the newcomer as well as the long-standing fan a representation of Freerange. The resulting 5 disc box set is something we're very proud of and want to send thanks and good vibes to all those DJ's, clubbers and music fans who have supported us over the years and helped enable us to do what we love to do; releasing the music we have passion for and believe in.

Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui - Pacific House Ep

New Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui - Raw analogue house music!
When computer programmer and music enthusiast Lowrell "Trackman" LaFonte was relocated to a small suburb North of Santa Barbra California a chance
encounter brought him to meet Bonquiqui Pardue. As he scoured his local break to find someone with a resin patch kit to fix a fresh ding in his favorite tri-fin fishtail, Bonquiqui, dental hygienist, and also an avid
surfer just so happened to have a kit handy and a union was born. From this moment on Lafonte & Bonquiqui were inseparable, often hitting the clubs and
immersing themselves in Latin Freestyle and obscure local house productions from the smog filled Valley. As it would have it, eventually the two moved in together and began working on their own music, using strictly Casio drum machines and keyboards. Inadvertently, Lafonte & Bonquiqui pioneered a sound now known by the masses as "Surfer House." These three tracks stand as a testament to a time in California music history that can never be recreated, no matter how hard the posuers at the local break try.

Mark Henning - Chicago Sunrise Ep

Mark Henning is back! Back on Cityfox! A classic acapella and Markís distinctive sound collide, result-
ing in a huge tune, sounding old school and fresh at the same time. Not just the vocals are telling a
story here, the synths and bassline add their part to complete the track. The second original 'Trojan' is
the secret weapon and club bomb, the dark side of the release, because too much sunshine is never
healthy ... Afrilounge take it a step deeper in their mixes. The 'Back2Basic' mix features the dynamic
they are famous for, the ëFM Dope Mixí (digital only!) and its big string melody sounds as clean as and
sparkles like the sunrise itself. The ë1998 Edití incorperates the rhythms and vibes of classic House
and Techno from the era when it all began. Thick, groovy basslines and pulsing pads laid out over
infectious percussion make this track an instant classic.

Morgan Geist's project STORM QUEEN marks a return to his roots with an analog approach towards modern house music with a disco pedigree. 'Let's Make Mistakes' once again features the vocal talents of Damon C. Scott. Storm Queen's debut of 2010, 'Look Right Through,' became an underground hit and was reissued as a remix package by Defected Records. 2011's 'It Goes On' nearly outstripped Storm Queen's debut in popularity and was featured in countless radio and club DJ sets and charts. 'Let's Make Mistakes' extends the Storm Queen continuum at 117 BPM, slowing down and emptying out to form a sinewy, building sound sculpture with a pop song nestled at its core. STORM QUEEN physical releases will be limited-edition 12's only. STORM QUEEN is made for DJs, but doesn't sacrifice atmosphere and songwriting. Reese / Chez Damier - Kms 25th Anniversary Classics - Vinyl Sampler 1

2012 sees Detroit label, KMS Records, celebrating it's 25th Anniversary.

Founded in 1987, by Kevin Maurice Saunderson, his first release was 'Triangle Of Love' produced by, 'Kreem', (just one of his many guises), little did Saunderson know, at that time, that two and a half decades later, he would still be releasing music on his KMS label.

Let's go back to the beginning... Born in Brooklyn in 1964, Saunderson moved to the picturesque Detroit suburb of Belleville, when he was nine, a different world to the urban decay of the city itself.

Saunderson has an enviable dual reputation. To the dance cognoscenti he's one of the 'Belleville Three,' (with Saunderson being the 'Elevator', Juan Aktkins being the 'Originator' and Derrick May being the 'Innovator'), the trio of friends invented Detroit Techno.

The trio met at Belleville High School where, Saunderson befriended Juan Atkins and Derrick May, who introduced him to the eclectic post-disco playlists of Detroit radio DJ Charles 'The Electrifying Mojo' Johnson. ' Johnson played disco, funk, Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, the B52's and Tangerine Dream, to name just a few. Saunderson already had a serious love for music, but he didn't realise he was going to produce music, until then.

In his first year at East Michigan University, where he studied telecommunications, he gave up football to become a DJ himself. He took inspiration from visits to Larry Levan's Paradise Garage in New York and Frankie Knuckles' Warehouse and Music Box in Chicago. Saunderson, Atkins and May, played at campus parties, until setting up their own club in Detroit, the fabled Music Institute.

Of the 'Belleville Three' Atkins was the first to make a record, with electro group Cybotron's 'Alleys of Your Mind' in 1981, then May, with Rhythim is Rhythim's 'Nude Photo' in 1987. Inspired by his friends, Saunderson bought some basic equipment and made his own debut in 1987 with 'Triangle Of Love'. 'I just had a good ear and a good heart for music,' he says. 'Juan Atkins led me into DJing which led me into making extra beats to play in my set. Then I started learning how to play basslines, putting a lot of work in, just elevating it from there'

Undeniably, Saunderson is a gifted producer (going under guises such as Reese, E-Dancer, Tronikhouse and Reese Project), remixer and a tireless international DJ. To lovers of great pop music he's also one third of Inner City, who made regular visits to the Top 20 in the late 80s with jubilant hits like 'Big Fun' and 'Good Life', paving the way for hundreds of underground-to-chart crossover records to come.

On a visit to England in 1988 Saunderson realised that a mythology had built up around the 'Belleville Three'. To his even greater surprise, 'Big Fun' became not just a massive club record but a pop hit. He also helped to revolutionise remixing when he worked on 'We Know It' by Wee Papa Girl Rappers. Over the following decade Saunderson would continue to produce imaginative remixes for the likes of New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Shamen, Paula Abdul and the Lighthouse Family.

Even whilst travelling the globe, djing or touring with Inner City, Saunderson continued to produce and release not only his own tracks on his KMS label (with tracks such as 'The Sound' by Reese, 'Rock To The Beat' by Reese, 'Truth Of Self Evident' by Reese & Santonio, 'Let's, Let's, Let's, Let's Dance' by Keynotes and 'Colour Of Love' by The Reese Project), but he also released tracks by other up and coming artists, releasing classic underground gems, such as 'Flash' by Fix, 'Can You Feel It' by Chez Damier, 'Soundscape' by Kosmic Messenger, 'Definition Of Love' by Kaos and 'Use Me' by R-Tyme. Paul Du Lac - Child's Play

Three new and raw box tracks by Paul du Lac, who seems to be pushing his minimalistic jackin' sound palette even further. We have the fierce and autistic-tantristic dirtyness of 'Tantra Master', the Dance Mania flavoured funk of 'Childs Play', and the deep strings of the bassline-driven 'Spaces Below', a classic Chicago-inspired piece of work that seems to come from deep within... Punchy and excellent dj tools... Lo-fidelity, hi-energy!
