Echovolt records begins a new series of official re-issues, shining light on productions that formed the label's identity.

Fourth release on the Black Ops sub label from the SLEAZYBEATS crew...

While in Europe for a tour slash trip last year, Andy Hart (of Melbourne Deepcast fame) met up with Max Graef (Berlin's golden boy) in Berlin, they hit it off like Batman and Robin and got dirty in the studio together very successfully.
They've been pinging ideas and tracks back and forth ever since, which led to the duo releasing some awe-inspiring dusty deep house together on Box Aus Holz (Graef's own label), Melbourne Deepcast and recently on Ali Ooft's FOTO imprint.

It didn't take long for the Black Ops camp to cotton on and squeeze the splendid 'Heavy Setters' EP out of this odd couple, the fourth release on the Sleazy Beats offshoot project.

The A side of the record is reserved for 'Biting', the delightful inaugural venture of the EP - and perhaps the most groove-oriented of the bunch.
Set at a leisurely pace, it combines moody, hazy organs with a classic bass and loose woodblock claps. Hart & Graef tease us with some well-placed soul/jazz vocal samples before properly unleashing things at the breakdown with a jazz cat banging on about his take on all things 'hip'.

Flip over for title track 'Heavy Setters', where you'll find the 'full-on and lights off' affair of the EP.
Reaching immediately for the jugular, Heavy Setters pulls you under and doesn't let go for 7 glorious minutes. A repetitive keynote arrives on the kick and remains firmly on display here, while open cymbal highs are cemented within the heavy drums and a sci-fi flashback sample.
Things get ever so deep for a second at the halfway break before kicking back to the nasty. A monster slice of chuggy deephouse that works a real treat on a packed floor.

Also on the B is 'Pass the Mortek', a bongo-laced groover that climbs nicely alongside more open cymbal brass and another crisp organ line. Not too intense but also wary of venturing too deep, Hart & Graef create a killer groove with vocal snips and heavy-ass keys. One of those tunes that is perfect to take a dj set in either direction, right up to the next level or down a notch, depending on mood, vibe etc.
Small pops and crackles from sampling from a dusty turntable add to the overall charm of the record and the lovely lady winking at you from the center sticker seals the deal here.

A great EP then, and a great addition to the Black Ops roster.

Roundabout Sounds presents the Soul Desire EP from Japanese artist Rondenion (Ragrange Records)
Two tracks to wet your appetite for Rondenion's first full length LP to be released this summer on Roundabout Sounds. Remixes on the flipside by Rick (The Godson) Wilhite of Detroit and Baaz (Office Recordings) in Berlin.

From the depths of the cavernous Restoration Headquarters comes the debut album from the notorious Analogue Cops and marks their return to the infamous Berlin imprint. After a busy 2012 curating the Third Side project together with Steffi, the duo pair up for this filthy, distorted and crackling collection of hardware oddities, body stompers and circuit-bending analogue excursions built for total dance floor annihilation. From the pouncing, distorted kicks and funked-out-as-fuck samples of 'Steffi's Disco Crime' or the the seductively grooving house swirls of 'SecondDiscoCrime' featuring Steffi herself, the LP immediately sets the scene for what evolves into a standout work from the Cops. Separated by crafty infusions of machine drones, each side of the two wax plates emanates ferocity, such as on 'Blackmails' - a scorching, industrialist viewpoint on techno and even the broken, percolating beats of 'Fraudulent Advisors'. UK techno crafter and Parassela co-member, Blawan, injects his inimitable grit into 'Light Reduction', a fearlessly scorching bundle of distorted percussion and improvisational sonics; whilst the uncontainable bursts of drums on 'Vopo' are guaranteed to send your jaw into a twist...Last but not least, 'Grove Line Forcing' showcases the duo's undeniably individualistic sampling methods, whilst 'Pearls Robbery' (featuring the mysterious Stanley Anscorm) heads down murkier, more convoluted paths, where lo-fi bass lines meet glitched-out percussion breaks for an early morning mutant techno workout. Watch your back - techno restoration is upon us...

Santonio Echol's is back with another release on Detroit Dancer. First track 'The Intimate Setting' is a deep, warm & soulful techno production, B1 is a remix from the classic Force Field track which was originally released on KMS back in the late 80's! Here Santonio gives it a warmer and deeper Detroit feel to it. B2 is a collaboration with UK's Mike Anderson on the vocal's, again a warm, deep & soulful production, just as we like it. Enjoy :)

As Apple Pips continues to explore its opening mantra of echo, depth, swing and bass within the duplicitous realms of modern
electronica, it welcomes to the fold two long-standing friends of the label and in turn sheds light on their own fresh avenues within
house music.
You might already know Lrusse as ID or Behling, commonly found kicking up the dust alongside Sam 'Baobinga' Simpson in all
manner of styles and tempos, while Bleecker has an accomplished back-story in dubstep as Wedge & through his own If Symptoms
Persist imprint. In their new venture both producers fuse their dancefloor inclinations with more searching, experimental textures and
tones, placing crafty sound design on a level pegging with the more immediate tropes of groove and presence.
'Dot Product' dives out of the speakers with a direct hook of a lead synth, but all around it shards of sonic matter flutter and twirl in
the finely spaced mix, from micro-samples of percussion to dismembered vocal snippets. With a limber, easy-strutting beat and some
sub-baiting bass to boot, the track manages to be both leftfield and utterly accessible all in the same breath.
Plotting a less obvious course, 'Stairwell' comes to life in an atmospheric haze of found sounds and shapeless drones, until a subtly
swung beat slips through a crack and into the foreground. The same embrace of intricate detail is present on this cut, but wielded in a
more restrained setting that rises slowly over the duration rather than kicking in from the off. Even the central melody comes draped
in a finely filtered veneer that implies as much as it elicits, making for the perfect foil to the unabashed extrovert Aside.
This record is a decisive step forward for both Lrusse and Bleecker, staying true to their past achievements whilst showcasing the
vitality and imagination inherent in both their shared studio adventures and their individual forays to come. 'Dot Product' has already
been included on Will Saul's brilliant recent Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1.

It's been a long time cooking and coming... WPH brings you a tribute to the biggest Belgian electronic music heritage...new beat!
But this is no ordinary compilation that is just more recycling of things past. Just like in our regular releases WPH brings it fresh with respect to the past. And so it goes that Red D decided to ask a bunch of his favourite producers of new and old to make a new track inspired by Belgian new beat from the 80ies.

The result - dare we say it - is nothing short of astounding, with people from all over the house board bringing a fresh take on the genre, sometimes staying close to it, and sometimes moving away from it. And that is the very essence of new beat, a genre that had a name, but wasn't limited to one simple formula when done right.

In this first volume (of four in total) we find Juju & Jordash, a very big UK house producer and his friend who wanted to do this one anonymous (trust us, VERY big name ), JD Twitch from Optimo (probably the biggest new beat fan you'll find) and WPH household name Metrobox. The music simply is...new beat! Worth noting is also that for the very first time WPH will have artwork that is full colour, also as a way of paying tribute to typical new beat artwork.

And so it begins.....
430 West Records embarks on an epic journey revisiting classic tracks from it's 20 year history with 2010 reworkings. First in the series are remixes of Octave One's seminal techno track "Meridian" and their absolute floor killer "Dema". Both tracks were exclusively reworked for their present "20 years into the future" tour and have already moved crowds all through Europe, Singapore, and North America. A must have for fans of funky techno.

The second Tieffrequent-Release comes from berlin-based producer Siggatunez. He brings us 3 massive tracks which are melancholic, hopeful, deep and raw at the same time. Added with an outstanding Rework by Le Rubrique, Metropol Traveller EP is a nice 4-Tracker and a unique piece of music. Limited vinyl only!

Beautiful and unrelenting, understated and overwhelming, Mr. Osborn delivers on the promise ofall of those adjectives with BACK 2 HERE. Four Detroit inspired compositions guiding your night to all of the right places, from dusk to sunrise. Back 2 Here bridges an intense emotional resonance from the thundering physicality of the club, the purple skied, clear summer after hours straight on until a post-party morning breakfast. With each new release, Todd proves himself one of the true alchemists of electronic music.

With what might turn out to be one of the biggest tracks of the year, the massive 'What I Might Do' by Ben Pearce is here. Solomun, Seth Troxler, David August and Jamie Jones are all already on board with championing this slick combination of raspy soulful vocals and irresistible grooving deep house Up first is the original club mix which builds graduall y with stripped back percussion, vocal murmurs and airy synths drifting in and out the mix. After a baseline is teased in a couple of times adding to the climax, the super soulful vocal is let rip to dramatic effect, a guaranteed weapon in any DJ´s bag in the coming months.
Harry Wolfman injects a bit of the old school into the original with a more jackin´, housed up version characterised by lazy sub bass, shuffly highs and a postmodern organ line which has become so synonymous within the new house sound prevalent in the UK scene at present.
One Records boss Adam Shelton takes things a bit deeper with his interpretation. A dark kick, clave and snare pattern drive the rhythm section throughout whilst deep pads and piano chords juxtapose to create a really emotive piece, subsequently giving the vocal a new meaning.
Last but certainly not least, one half of PBR Streetgang, Bonar Bradberryrounds things off with a cut aimed straight for the dancefloor with its driving low end and distorted tom-line. Creative use of the vocal and an ever evolving acid line work wonderfully together and give the track real drive and purpose.

Serving as a little taster of the full double-CD 'Retrospective' album, this sampler features 3 exquisite Mr. G tracks cherry-picked by the man himself. Originally released on Berlin's Careless Recordings, 'Song For My Cantor' is a beautifully mellow house track - conceived as a tribute to a deceased friend, it perfectly encapsulates the soulful, introspective side to Mr. G's music. Taking influence from a similarly ethereal source, 'Lights (G's Out Dub)' was produced during the solar eclipse of August 1999. Perhaps the alignment of the sun and moon looked like a gigantic disco ball in the sky to Mr. G, as this is one seriously funky groove that would fit right into a peak time DJ Sneak set - this one was snapped up by Defected Records in no time. 3rd track 'Moments' keeps on with the upbeat vibe, channelling the latin spirit - its relentless feel good carnival loop filtering up and down to devastating effect. From Mr. G to Mr. C, this little beauty saw a release on the record label associated with highly esteemed and much missed London club The End.

Tang returns to his own label w/Chicago/Detroit vibe that we all come to expect. A is a stormer, which is basss-heavy, funky, & catchy at the same time. 2 tracks on the flip are 'Drone' & 'Synchronism.'

Crafting a blend of loose and irreverent house that looks to both Detroit funk and London rhythms, L.A. duo Cromie and Sage Caswell come out swinging on "Vines" / "Pyrex" (Peach001), their collaborative debut as well as the inaugural release for new Brooklyn label Peach. The pair's creative partnership began over a memorable smoke break at a club where they shared a rotating residency. A common love of the rude, swung percussion of UKG and UK funky, along with a fine appreciation for the vibe of deeper house sounds, got them in the studio together, resulting in the pair of tracks presented on Peach's debut release.

Both 'Vines' and 'Pyrex' are aquatic summer jams, full of rich synth swathes and pads that stretch out over funky, syncopated percussion—the kind of feel-good terrace jams that conjure images of a summer with no end. Naturally, they're backed with extra heat from remixers curated by label head Tim Saputo (a.k.a. Rem Koolhaus, co-creator and resident of New York's internationally renowned TURRBOTAX® party). Detroit MPC don Kyle Hall infuses "Vines" with classic Motor City muscle and his signature effervescent haze, while South African Bacardi house producer DJ Spoko complements the song's airy synths with a serious tribal-house flex. On the flip, San Francisco's Ghosts on Tape adds a Balearic glimmer to his addictive, dancefloor-igniting remix of 'Pyrex.'

Saputo's own love of textures, multiple layers of percussion and reverb is reflected in Peach's lush and warm releases, which use deep, drum-heavy house as a jumping-off point while refusing to conform to a single tempo or style.

Ministry of Sound's Masterpiece series has so far produced a collection of mixes that are already considered timeless by many. With dance music luminaries Andrew Weatherall, Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider, Jazzie B and Francois K taking the Masterpiece concept and curating seminal mix compilations.
For the latest instalment in this inspirational series, Ministry of Sound have employed the services of a Techno leviathan, a man who hails from the Mecca of Techno, Detroit and someone who not only grew up with the sound but is considered to be one of the foremost pioneers of the genre, a Grammy-nominated visionary and an artist who has consistently pushed the envelope when it comes to making and performing electronic music. Carl Craig is his name and we are very pleased to have such an esteemed member of electronic music fraternity contributing to the Masterpiece series.
With his label, remixes, original productions and collaborations Carl's list of achievements is endless, indicative of a man who never stops working and whose depth of musical knowledge is unsurpassed. The concept is simple; a mix of what Carl is playing now, what he's listening to and what he's been inspired by. Truly an exciting prospect when you consider Carl's history, his A&Ring for Planet-E and his dynamic DJ sets. Expect an eclectic, diverse selection of influences from The Temptations and Erykah Badu through to underground heroes like Kyle Hall.
Breaking new ground is in Carl's nature so to complete the album he is creating an exclusive composition that will be comprised several 'acts', a Masterpiece first.

Australia's most exciting new export Contemporary Scarecrow makes a triumphant return this June with a four tracker from Mr. G, following the labels critically acclaimed debut from Boo Williams.

The Contemporary Scarecrow brand takes on two forms, record label, and clothing company, delivering uncompromising quality in both fields. The imprints inaugural EP from Chicago house veteran Boo Williams picked up support from the likes of Lawrence, Jovonn, Hunee, Phil Weeks and Sascha Dive, a striking indication of the sheer quality embodied from the get go. Here the second release welcomes Rekids and Hypercolour artist Mr. G aka Colin McBean, a man whose prominence in the house and techno industry over the years has never faltered and who consistently delivers refreshing, analogue workouts, regardless of the format.

The release kicks off with 'Potent', which sees Colin employ his signature gritty, shuffled analogue drums, raw chord stabs and a bulbous tom-driven bass line as the driving force. Subtle variations in the stabs and vocal snippets further fuel the infectious groove, resulting in a dark peak-time number. Next up is 'Dancefloor', and as the name would suggest, it's a direct, hooky rhythm aimed at the discerning house head, with saw wave bass, soul-laden vocals and penetrating chord sequences.

On the flip side, Mr. G drops 'Tune In', tipping its focus towards a more refined, deeper sound, with sparse drums, heavily reverberated vocal murmurs and subby low-end tones, the focal point introduces a warm, cossetting organ hook, bringing some additional musicality to the cut. Last up to close the release is 'Seapuss', which winds down the EP in a dark and moody fashion, the dropped-tempo number focuses on punchy lowslung drums, elongated bass-lines and swirling white noise to create a profound atmospheric record with a hypnotic, psychedelic feel.

Label Head Honcho Alex Picone returns on M.U.S. with "Minimal gets complex", a 3 tracks Ep where Picone deals with one of his favourite subjects, Microhouse.
A1 track "Surrealist is a proper dancefloor shaker, where a minimalistic bassline and voice meet a roland tr 909. A 10 minutes killer track
On the flipside,
B1 we'v got Fiction, which sets a darker mood thanks to a flanger modulation blended with an ipnotic bass and drums elements from both 909 and 808.
B2 track is Abstract, a track which plays around a melancholic synth and a relentless groove which makes it perfect for the sunset moment.

Greece born Thanasis Voulgaris is the person hidden behind the moniker Kindimmer and the 17th release on Local Talk.
Having released on Resopal Schallware and Diaphan Music earlier his sound can be described as a the perfect blend of deep techno and raw house.Those expecting another vocal house style track will be surprised! This is where we take Local Talk into a more raw and darker territory.The title track "Shadow and Construction" is a straightforward heavy hitter with it's whipcracking beat and slammin' hi hats, it's pure simplicity makes it simply irresistible.
On the flip, Deep, Stripped Down n' Dirty' continues on the same vibe driven by a gritty acid line that's tweaked for several minutes, executed perfectly.Finishing the 12" is Rthoms, a track with simple yet clever variations that never loses any of its dancefloor appeal.

You get the Bitter Love EP from The True Rebels together with a fierce remix from Deep Space Orchestra.
Its two very different takes in both tempo and energy.
The original version is a battle of piano stabs with a bouncy yet filthy bassline that results in midtempo house burner with a slight techy feel.
The Deep Space Orchestra remix takes us straight to Detroit, fusing classic Techno sounds together with modern house.
Basically its simple yet impeccably executed house music, perfect Local Talk material!

Love OD label boss Per Martinsen AKA Mental Overdrive returns with his first vinyl release since 2010's piano-driven beauty 'My House'. Since then he has released a series of digital-only EP's and a Bandcamp-exclusive album, and the title track on this new vinyl release, 'Monster', was originally included on the 'Everything is connected EP#2' - released through Love OD in 2012. The reworked and remixed '12" version' featured on this new release is severely beefed up, and presents a fine slice of 'rave disco' (if that ever was considered a genre in its own right), and might please both those who like big music in small, dark rooms or big music in, well, big rooms. The B-side features the bouncy, percussion-heavy and organ-driven journey 'Ritual'. This has long been a crowd favourite when dropped in Mental Overdrive live-sets and might resonate well with those who share a deep love for the music from the city of Detroit - like Martinsen does.

Over the last few years Prime Numbers have gained a lot of praise for their three track EP series featuring respected producers like Andres, Move D, Linkwood, Actress & Motor City Drum Ensemble.
After a years hiatus they continue that trend with PN17 and are certainly maintaining the quality we've come to expect returning with some exceptional new productions.
Adesse who has recently gained attention with his steppers version of Theo Parrish's 'Sky Walking' delivers 'Baayi'.
It's a superbly deep & warm house production with metronomic wood blocks, organic keys, swinging drums & sublime vocal samples.

Recent R&S signing and Perc Trax regular Truss, drops an acidic techno workout with 'Redbrook'.
The track has a truly classic feel insistently building with hammering hi-hats and swelling keys giving into some addictive acid riffs.
Italian artisan Massimo De Lena closes the EP. 'You Better Hear' is an off kilter mélange of cut up acidic bass moves & dissonant drums under hypnotic, repetitive vocals.
One for the more experimentally minded.

Inheriting his passion for music through his father, DeMarzo enrolled into the Yamaha Keyboard School at the age of 8 where he got his first taste of creativity.

Years of writing and performing live became natural and nights spent watching Jazz improv's became highly influential. Whilst studying music technology at college he began producing his own material. As a multi-instrumentalist, his obligation to inject 'groove' into both his productions and sets began to arouse more and more interest. DeMarzo's sound is a meticulously crafted one. His toxic perfectionism and shrewd sense of rhythm lead him naturally to where he is today. His well-revised sets include anything from underground deep house to main room deep tech.

The new split 12" released on Flaneur Audio comes from label owner L'estasi Dell'oro, alongside two soaring grooves by the Belgian hero named Ozka.

Continuing to prove it's a label with two fingers very much on the pulse, the fast-divers- ifying Retrofit imprint offers up a thoroughly varied EP from French producer DJ Steef aka Frederic Berthet. The Marseille based producer crafts everything from deep, sample-laden disco to warm grooving house for labels like Gomma and Toy Tonics while picking up ample support from DJ's like James Murphy, Andrew Weatherall, and Tim Sweeney.

Steef's Retrofit debut kicks off with 'Ghost Producer.' Infectious motown-esque vocals, energetic piano and a stripped but jacking groove make it ripe for summer dancefloors. 'Como Un Dios Del Olimpo' takes things down a much deeper road - a hypnotic Spanish chant is the guide while a disco bassline chugs under soaring pads and arpeggios.

Australian producer Mic Newman (aka Fantastic Man) of FINA, Freerange, and Murmur takes the original vox and pads, and weaves them into a shuffling, melodic number that manages to sound lazy and low slung while maintaining a direct-to-the-dancefloor feel. On 'Soul of Calypso,' Steef rounds out the package with a percussive workout that still retains an understated musicality about it.

As Guy Gerber's new season 'Wisdom Of The Glove' party at Pacha Ibiza proceeds with unstoppable momentum, it would appear that the man of the moment still finds time to discover high quality, arresting releases for his Supplement Facts label. The latest EP, 'Paint It Black', comes courtesy of an electric collaboration that recently proved its worth on a remix for Alland Byallo's 'Bygones' release for Thoughtless Music. USA based duo H-Foundation and Switzerland's David Durango join forces on this tech house two tracker, which see's the artists explore the more dissident edges of the genre.

As 'Surface' opens, it's the beautifully textured, hollow sounding percussion that immediately sets out to sculpt a sophisticated groove. While the bass note grunts with a sultry force, sporadic minor chords smatter the top end to disorienting effect and its vocal is reduced to a distant, impersonal articulation. 'Canvas' eases you in with a maraca-esque hi-hat swing, but don't be fooled into thinking that this is simply a frivolous club track. As the production unfolds, the bass stabs get darker, dissonant twangs become more frequent and breathy, uncomfortable inhalations make for a real sense of foreboding.

It's this perfectly balanced layering, organic structure and an intuition that never loses sight of the dance floor that really demonstrates the production power at work within this collaboration.

Rising star John Dimas is up next on One Records with two killer club cuts backed up by remixes from Argentine house master Guti and label boss Adam Shelton. 'Rhythm Trap' is a peak time hypnotic affair with a propulsive groove building into a teasing acid line. Second original track 'Let It Go' feat. Jose is another analogue banger with serious bounce and techno swagger. The vinyl includes four exclusive locked grooves.

Greek/Berlin based producer John Dimas is fast becoming a name to watch after the stunning and diverse 'Living Lies EP' on La Vie En Rose and a recent release on Dame Music. This offering on One Records is set to cement 2013 as a breakthrough year for the artist.

John gained a reputation in his native Thessaloniki, Greece for his three turntables DJ sets and an ear for digging out the hottest, rare tracks. Soon John was on the international club circuit and a first foray into the studio came with duo Actor One in 2008. Now John is concentrating on solo production and developing his more experimental live sets.

Guti is the musician with the Jazz and Latin roots who turned to techno and has since bestowed his intense musicality to a solid cannon of productions on home label Desolat (including debut album 'Patio De Juegos') Crosstown Rebels and Wolf + Lamb.

One Records' boss Adam Shelton has been delivering some worldclass Remixes of late including the massive 'What I Might Do' by Ben Pearce and Subban's 'Rain' on Visionquest. Watch out for his next EP on One Records 25th release featuring Italian producer/vocalist Francesca Lombardo.
