Though his background is Albanian, Franki Juncaj is Detroit through and through: he was born in the city and grew up in the Hamtramck neighbourhood. He got into techno after being introduced to the once-cherished Submerge store, which was demolished in 20[aI] CD 1-9 | Besa will be Juncaj's first full-length since 2010's Galactic Caravan, an album that spawned a remix package featuring Ben Sims, Alexander Robotnik and Orlando Voorn. We commissioned Gerd Janson for a collection that starts where previous compilations left off. While Computer Incarnations for World Peace (his compilations for Sonar Kollektiv) concentrated on tipsy new wave music done by jazz-funkers or neo disco-ists, Autobahns has an unintentionally strong leaning towards ambient not-ambient, kraut pleasers and codeine house, i.e. Industrial Ambient and Electrifying New Age. It's all new and exclusive material by people who have crossed paths with the compiler at one time or another.

This sometimes unlikely gathering is hopefully unified by its non-parochial view of dance- and living-room floors, ambient noise and its effectiveness as a soundtrack to long rides up and down the Autobahn.

Epic structured synth driven soundtrack like collab by Helsinki's Stiletti-Ana from Jesse and Sex Tags Ufo's own DJ Fett Burger. Beat-side nearly cosmic on -8 and almost Dutch on +8. A white label release limited to 300 units worldwide, Pictures Music and Ghostly International present three remixes of Dauwd's 'Heat Division'. Featuring re-interpretations from DFA's Tim Goldsworthy, Ostgut's Nick Höppner and Dauwd himself, this release sheds new light on Dauwd's sophomore EP. Goldsworthy's experience producing the likes of Unkle and The Rapture is put to work on his remix of 'Heat Divsion' adding a mercurial vocal hook and a unique ending to the track, while Höppner's work roots 'And' firmly in the ubiquitous sound of Berlin. Dauwd rounds off the line-up with a different take on 'Silverse' offering a version aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

With the BODY EP SCOTT FRASER signs his third collaboration for ASTRO LAB RECORDINGS, after the highly acclaimed "JOHN HUGUE EXPERIENCE" with MARK E on the remix and tracks on labels such BIRD SCARER, CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, Scott is back with this inspired track of Old School Chicago house with a small touch of classic DETROIT techno.

With Scott we decided to ask RAUDIVE for the b-side remix, he tuned BODY into his own techno secret, strong bass treatment, crazy synth, something really strong for the dance floor !.

In 1993 in the depths of Detroit, Lou Robinson of Scan 7(Underground Resistance) and Vernall Shelton released Scattered Thoughts on the Trouble Worlds EP on their own 'Direct Hit' imprint.




Deep, thought provoking and out of worldly with a bit of an industrial, electro groove. This amazing song flew under the radar back then in the techno scene. Even missing the old Sonic Groove's store shelf. A rare mishap when it came to the now defunct shop and Detroit techno music. After a bit of recent research at the Sonic Groove office it was evident that this great piece of timeless techno music was slept on by most from the past to the present. Here, 20 years later, Sonic Groove seeks out to breathe new life into this masterpiece of a song and give it the justice that it deserves of reaching more ears. On this release you will find the original mix, remastered, plus a rare remix appearance from Traversable Wormhole who adds his distinct style to the track. The mastering done on this release is by legendary EBM and Industrial music pioneer Eric Van Wonterghem (Absolute Body Control, original member of Klinik, Monolith). Enjoy!

Standard Fair was born in 1980 in Sapporo, Japan, and played the bass in a punk band until he was 20.

He is very influenced by various genres of music but now he produces sophisticated deep house.

After some excellent releases on Resopal, 8 Bit and Little Helpers he returns on Joyfull with some great dance tracks. EP includes a remix produced by Julien Sandre.

Denis Clifford's 'Miracles of Matter Rmxs' takes some of the best originals from the debut cd album of the same name and works them up into a warm classic sound.
The opener 'Blue Moves' remixed by Jus-Ed smooths out the runway with a hands up in the air piano riff and a searing string loop that stirs the emotions in all the right ways. Denis Clifford the artist here does his own rework of 'Time' which features the vocals of Jenifa Mayanja into a more sexy ready for the dancefloor vibe.
The Flip side begins with a remix by Andrew Duke which is a broken beat minimal sound with the superior vocals of Jesse Heffernan and Kyrie Devereaux resting on a hard bed of snared verbed out rhythms. Label boss Jenifa Mayanja rounds out the release with a glossy piece of bass driven fare done as only she does with full on emotional flair perfect for those nights that you never want to end

Bristol music has always stood strongest as an alternative to the lowest common denominator, and so it is with BRSTL as the label continues to provide a platform to previously undiscovered talent in the underbelly of the city's flourishing house scene. Following lauded debuts from Shanti Celeste and Jay L, the sixth installment in the series turns to another unknown in the shape of Samuel.
As with other releases on BRSTL, 006 is made up of two distinct halves. On the A-side, 'Numberuma' delivers machine driven house of a rugged and charming nature. The drums switch up with playful intent but largely centre around a forward-charging 4/4 pulse with a faint hint of tropical flavour rubbed into the groove. Meanwhile the limber lead keys speak of sunnier days through a cracked lens while the accompanying chord swells intone an equally uplifting and nostalgic message. While from the outset the track may be wrought from simple ingredients, the dynamic interplay between the different elements belies the producer's years.
On the flip, 'Groove Therapy' opts for a more esoteric approach made up of long, dreamy lead-ins full of distant pads and delicate percussion and transitions as smooth as silk. Indeed this track makes a smart foil to 'Numberuma', choosing to snake its way into the subconscious through delicate melodic content and an undulating beat rather than rambunctious rhythm. Slow-release filters draw that aforementioned pad in before sending it out to sea once more, and all the while the stripped back drums tick out a hypnotic chant.
Once again a pair of unique tracks loaded with character prove BRSTL to be an essential outpost for the most creative 4/4 music emanating from the West Country.

5:th installment from Orlando Voorn's label Divine Records. This time he discovers a new amazing talent from Japan named Hayatochiri. Purple Line is his debut release and is a jazzy musical house masterpiece. On the remixes you'll find label boss Orlando Voorn and Detroit's Norm Talley which delivers a massive dancefloor bomb. 4 strong minimal detroit tracks from Population One aka Terrence Dixon.

From working alongside some of the world's biggest pop stars (think Michael Jackson, Will Smith, Pet Shop Boys) to crafting seminal and timeless underground house, Marc Kinchen - better known by his stage name MK - is a peerless craftsmen of modern-day music. Arguably enjoying the most prolific artistic form of his life, Defected presents MK In The House is - somewhat unbelievably - his first ever mix compilation; a snapshot of where he currently sits; a 2-disc mix taking in Lana Del Ray, Dusky, Jamie Jones, FCL, Huxley and Kings of Tomorrow, as well as a handful of exclusive MK remixes.
Back in the early 90s, Marc Kinchen almost single-handedly pioneered a signature sound for the then relatively new genre of house music. His releases from that era such as 'Burning' and 'Always' and remixes like Nightcrawlers' 'Push the Feeling On' are still ubiquitous and have, in the last year or so, served more as house blueprints, copied ad nauseam by young producers of the day. As such, MK's influence on the current state of house music cannot be underestimated.

Defected presents MK In The House showcases a hand-picked selection of records both new and old. Rather than aiming for different vibes on each of the two discs, the Detroit DJ has recorded one long session that was simply split in two. 'A lot of my DJ friends, I thought they did their mixes and podcasts live, but a lot of them use Ableton' he admits. 'This was the first time I did it that way and it was pretty cool for me.'

CD1 sparks into life with MK's incredible remix of sultry songstress Lana Del Ray's 'Blue Jeans'. Over the last couple of years, many have tried to rework Del Ray's dusty vocals, but few have done it with such poignant success. Also included is his remix of FCL's omnipresent 'It's You'; an exclusive to this compilation it features MKs trademark chopped, rhythmic vocals and throbbing, organ-driven bass. Inclusions from men-of-the-moment Dusky, Chicagoan Kate Simko and crosstown rebel Amirali add further weight to an deeply involving mix.

2012 saw MK collaborate with Maceo Plex - without question one the biggest electronic stars of last year - and it is with his 'Stop Your Hate' that the second disc begins. Also included are recent cuts from Jamie Jones ('Road to the Studio') and Eats Everything ('The Withywood Walk'), as well as a brand new track from Kings of Tomorrow ('It's Only You feat. April), while MK nods to his past glories with the addition of his flawless remix of Jodeci 'Freek 'n' You'.
Over the past few years, MK has enjoyed a renaissance and subsequent rich vein of form in a career that was already exceptional, and Defected presents MK In The House may very well be the mix of his life.

The STL project elevates you again on another lovely 12 called Magic23. With 4 tracks and 2 bonus loops, it is the continuation of the Vinyl Series in deep practiced Something style and artful moody created beats and sound made by Stephan Laubner. Coming from a hardware approach, all output is channeled via oldshool equipment and analog devices honestly into the listeners ears in order to share emotions and make your time vibrating and alive. This music works like telekinesis. On a level that is hard to understand in rational explanations. While it is unclear how and why, we just know things like these extrasensory transmissions definitely happens. This seems to be an obscure thing, but music is something for the heart and we are able to feel and understand music deep within us. On Something Vinyl Series 23 the magic journey keeps going on with psychelicious delicious tracks ranging from downtempo to effective deep house cuts. This vinyl comes with a diy styled cover and as always in limited quantities. Enjoy!

The second Purpose By Design 12" from Chez Damier's Balance Music collects four more fresh tracks from the finest contemporary deep house producers, with the legendary figure's impeccable taste shining through in his selections. On the A-side, Kenny Cajual presents his mix of Minister Mike's "Collide", a rolling house number filled with jazzy keys and organ breakdowns, while London-based producer Soy Mustafa delivers "Maxim", a trippy slice of tech house which glides effortlessly from abstract, syncopated drum patterns into a enveloping wormhole of hypnotic chords and looping bass. On the B-side, Garrett David's "I Can't Take It" provides a hands-in-air piece of vocal-leaning, Kerri Chandler inspired house filled with pitched organ riffs, while Salah Arnse offers "Brother's Gonna Work It Out", a slice of classicist disco house edited skilfully by Blue Mondays, delivering the kind of good time horns and funk bass that puts you right in the Paradise Garage circa 1979.

Strut presents Hardcore Traxx: Dance Mania Records 1986-1997, the first definitive retrospective of one of Chicago's most important and innovative house music labels. Emerging as a raw alternative to the powerhouses of Trax and DJ International during the mid-'80s, Dance Mania continued to represent street-level Chicago club music into the '90s, helping to pioneer the Ghetto House sound.

Hardcore Traxx traces the full story of the label from its heyday. Founded in 1985 and managed by Ray Barney, Dance Mania hit the ground running with its second release in '86, the incendiaryHardcore Jazz EP by Duane & Co. Barney quickly became a trustworthy outlet for early house and acid productions by upcoming Chicago artists such as Lil Louis, Marshall Jefferson and Farley Keithaka Farkey 'Jackmaster' Funk.

The label set out its stall with a series of landmark Chicago releases including 7 Ways by Hercules, Li'l Louis' The Original Video Clash, and international smash House Nation by Housemaster Boyz. During the '80s, it cemented its reputation for uncompromising club records and DJ Tools with sounds spanning raw garage (Victor Romeo's Love Will Find A Way), acid trax (Robert Armani) and quality house (Da Posse).

Into the '90s, Barney unleashed the groundbreaking "Hit It From The Back" by Traxmen and Eric Martin, ushering in a primitive new sound around faster, stripped down rhythms and X-rated party-starting lyric lines. Barney remembers, 'Guys used to call in and ask for music on Dance Mania - they were saying, 'gimme some of that ghetto stuff.' Dance Mania producer DJ Slugo adds, 'when we made Ghetto House... we made music for the bitches. Music for the grinding sh*t and all of that.' The sound spawned a whole new swathe of homegrown producers releasing a fast flow of no-compromise dancefloor bangers: Paul Johnson, DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, DJ Milton, Waxmaster and Slugo all became leaders of the scene. The influence of ghetto house became widespread, not least for Daft Punk, whose track "Teachers" from their Homework album in 1997 was effectively a tribute to Dance Mania. The new wave of productions also paved the way for the later Chicago juke and footwork scene.

Today, with the label back up and running courtesy of Ray Barney and Parris Mitchell, Dance Mania remains a revered Chicago institution across dance music. With Hardcore Traxx, Strut traces the history of the label on a definitive compilation for the first time, from the early classics to ghetto house anthems alongside big money rarities and oddities hidden within their substantial catalogue. Produced in association with Dance Mania, the release is compiled by Conor Keeling (DJ behind the popular "Teachers" Daft Punk influences online mix) with help from Miles Simpson of Ransom Note. Physical formats feature full label history and artist interviews by DJ Chrissy Murderbot alongside rare photos.

From The Rest Janis Guckes is a friendly musician from Frankfurt. His love of music has led him to many a band and project. Socialized in the Robert Johnson Club, where he found his way to club music in the late nineties, he now produces excellent House in his own kitchen. He also runs a label with two friends, 'House Is OK", where he released his first records. Stylewise, he feels at home just in just about any box - and on Mirau 018, he pulls out his heavy, vast coffer of house music.On the 'Forgiveness EP", substantial Detroit numbers shuffle into line on a timeless 12inch. Janis' seemingly impulsive way of putting together grooving, tilting tracks hits a nerve; everything falls into place. In honest, brave lines, he sketches out a feeling that we can't help but live. The first track, 'Forgiveness", starts out with a warm sample that pumps blood straight to your dancing feet - tangible Deep House. 'Greetings from the Netherworld' reaches out and grabs you with a bouncing bass, echoing vocals and hauntlingly beautiful string elements, building up a marching, glittering ensemble. 'Illusion of Choice' stoicly stamps and twists from the speakers. The next-door neighbor complains across the freshly trimmed hedge, then breaks down and gives us a tap dance lesson. In 'Different from the Rest", not only he can no longer resist; everyone joins in, because it shuffles so nicely. The swinging bass line carries the tapdancing companions all the way to the end of this enchanting EP. Convincing House Music for Friendly People!

The first release since Romanthony's tragic passing had been sent to the pressing plant before he died. Following discussions with his family and advisors, Glasgow Underground is continuing its series of re-issues to help create a legacy for Romanthony's children.

Andres - and its some feat - takes Roman's garage classic and turns it into a tripped out disco groove. Pure and blissful this superb mix of wandering bass and crackly chords is the kind of record you want to dance to when the sun is out and the mojitos are flowing.

Young Glaswegian producer Mirrors teams up with McKay and take Roman's vocals down a pitch or two, get out the juno & the 909, slap on a thunderous kick drum and deliver the kind of synth workout that wouldn't be out of place on Power House.

Finally McKay delivers his own re-interpretation of 'Ministry of Love', wrapping the full song around a simple, acid-driven groove.
