Juan Atkins - Electric Jungle

collecting orders for another repress - be fast to secure your copy! Lost recordings by Juan Atkins! During the early 90's and the heady times of dance music many recordings - mixes etc were either lost or did not surface. Recently unearthed from a time capsule are three unreleased tracks from the master creator of Techno Juan Atkins - all Juan's trade marks are here from the driving Oh La la to the of the wall Electric Jungle and the minimal Impulse... Three tracks that translated the restless musical developments from that era into musical outings from Juan Atkins as we havent heard from him before, capturing the ''zeitgeist'' and fusing outside influences with his trademark Atkins sound. Very interesting document from the archives of Black Market records!

Beggars Banquet

NDV
24.07.2014

Next up from NDV, the world is in a tailspin, the days of rags to riches story's are gone, but that doesn't mean we can't have a feast. A beggars banquet if you like. Mastered to tape hot and pressed to vinyl.

The record is about the warmth, the dirt and the dynamics - the essence of House music. Kirill Tipo opens the EP, a man who has had recent success on labels like 4Lux and Soul Notes puts his hat into the ring with 'Call the Police', raw and uncompromising power house music. Next up the mysterious Crue takes the stage, the masked producer behind the trio of coloured 10" inch's that had everyone's heads spinning.

He took some hunting down but when Beggars want their banquet, they always get their chef. True to form he strips the Dead Rose track to bits for his remix. Banger... ...nothing more to say.

On the flip side you have melodic synth class with 'Three Buttons' by Andy Ash, a track brimming with melody and groove whilst the production has an air and a warmth in its detail that really pulls you in.

Dead Rose Music Company delivers a super solid B side raver, a track with a bassline that shakes you physically even if you don't feel like dancing. Hands up!

Mike Sharon - I Feel You Ep

It's time to celebrate our 20th release on Local Talk and we do it with a very special release.
Mike Sharon might not be a known name yet but trust us, this guy is going places and his EP for Local Talk is one of those EPs that lives up to everything we believe in when it comes to house music.
I Feel You is the first track on the A-side. This tune needs a full-side vinyl cut to transmit the punchy, masterfully produced rhythm together with the syncopated house chords and vocal snippets. A classic yet modern feel that's sounding right at home on Local Talk.
Can You Feel It is just like hearing Larry Heard in the DJ booth, taking things a bit deeper while deep pads and piano chords lift the track. A guaranteed weapon in any DJ´s bag in the coming months
Deeper is another lush groove, building up what sounds like experienced house music from Mike. The creative use of the vocal samples work wonderfully together with the 90's organ & classic piano gives the track a real drive and purpose.
A fantastic slice of house that we hope you enjoy as much as we do.
Local Talk is talking to you!

Dana Ruh - Mavan (fred P Reshape)

Broquade 031 features none other than Dana Ruh. Something a little bit different than her last Brouqade venture. This time bringing a classic House vibes to keep our hearts warm as things begin to cool down. We open with "Mawan" a beatless percussion based track with beautiful vox that speak to us as musical poetry. Fred P's Reshape of "Mawan" brings the thump while still bringing a classic Deep House flavor with dubby pads and classic piano notes. It's sure to liven up the dance floor while still keeping the poetic and beautiful vibe of the original. Lastly we have "Blue Moon" this time a more dance floor ready track. In this one Dana mixes elements of Deep House and Techno together flawlessly creating an extremely nice spaced out groove.

Groovestyle - Freedom Train

I first heard this track played by the legendary Huggy from Back to Basics in Leeds. I remember being stood at the bar at Space, Bar Rumba with Kenny (Hawkes)...We were mid-conversation and I remember him stopping mid flow and literally running to the DJ booth.
Now Kenny wasn't one for making public displays of excitement, and to be honest, I think this was the only time I ever witnessed it. But it floored him. He raved and raved on about it. Bought copies for me, and himself, over and over. I personally think it was the record that defined his sound and his style and sent him off on a mission...And the train sounds, well, those that knew him, knew what that led to......
It was his signature and his sound, and if there is one record that both Derrick and myself couldn't be more honoured to re-release as a testament to his legacy, a record that defined Kenny as a DJ, and a record that keeps that light shining, then it's this one. Viva the Dark Lord.

Isaac Basker - Swishin' & Dishin'

New York City, USA, 2014. A community filled with amazing shit and amazingly fucked up shit. This Yin Yang is an ever-present part of life, and it is this contradiction that Isaac Basker seeks to take on with Swishin' & Dishin,' his sophomore release on Play It Say What Records.

On A1, 'Swishin' & Dishin',' Isaac references NYC basketball legend, Walt 'Clyde' Frazier to define the city's Yin. Starting off like a certified banger; a simple 'bleep' blasts the track over a thumping kick and rhythmic percussion, as if attacked by a penetrating crossover dribble. Yet Isaac then drops his trademark melodic chords to turn the track into an authentic deep house groove.

With A2 Plan B Recordings boss DJ Spider provides his latest remix for Isaac, helming 'Swishin' & Dishin' (DJ Spider Mix).' The original is then obliterated into his classic raw, deep sound. Hard kicks, obscure female vocals, hats and snares form the basis of the track as we then get slowed chords to tease us until deeper sounds and syncopated percussion elevate the listeners mood before bringing the track back to the remix's original rawness.

B1, 'Slumlord Billionaires (5Pointz Of Light Mix),' Swishin' & Dishin's most dance floor friendly track, takes on the Yang of the city, using the to be demolished graffiti mecca 5Pointz as a point of reference. Yet, this is an uplifting build up banger of a track emphasizing human resilience in the face of doom. Booming drums start the song off until a single fluttering melodic chord drops. Then syncopated claps, and vocal hits arrive challenging 'the powers that be' to further enhance the song's call for dance floor resistance.

Then there is 'American't.' With B2 Isaac, takes dark analog keys and syncopated techno sensibilities over a simple eerie baseline to further emphasize the Yang. A manipulated vocal later emphasizes this further and another layer of angry, reflective keys drive the operatic finale of this definite New York release.

Prime Numbers
13.11.2014

Prime Numbers & Trus'me once again compile some of their best vinyl releases from the last 12 months onto one essential 12 track CD.

Featured are a selection of recent Trus'me remixes from the likes of Mosca, Skudge & Alan Fitzpatrick alongside some handpicked tracks from Prime Numbers highly regarded EP series.
Two tracks from the diverse artist Adesse start us off. 'Metachemistry' is a fabulous blend of esoteric chugging jazz augmented by reedy vibes. Whilst 'Baayi' is a superbly deep & warm house production with metronomic wood blocks, organic keys, swinging drums & sublime vocal samples.

R&S records' Truss is featured with his fantastic slice of raw classic techno in 'Redbrook' which is also joined by Fred P's remix taking the track into a whirlpool of beautifully crafted jazz'd tech house in true Black Jazz Consortium style.
Massimo Di Lena steps up with 'You Better Hear', an off kilter mélange of cut up acidic bass moves & dissonant drums under hypnotic vocals. XDB brings his remix of this with a linear & subtle techno construction of bleeps & distant keys.
Adesse adds to the mix again with his insistent 'Unititled Love', a homage to early 90's garage productions with whip hard snares & swirling vocal hook.

Added to these are five remixes of Trus'me tracks from his album 'Treat Me Right'. Mosca takes the now classic 'Somebody' into a deep & bass heavy corner as only he can. Truncate makes 'Its Slow' sound like a lost Dance Mania release.
Alan Fitzpatrick beefs up 'I Want You' with all the right anthemic ingredients creating a bonafide top of the night future classic.
'Moonlight Kiss' is treated to the Skudge touch who turn out a warm house'd up rollout in their inimitable fashion.
Finally French master Marcelus hightens the tension of 'Hindsight' stripping back the original to its bare essentials.

This collection perfectly represents the diversity and direction of the Prime Numbers label and includes the pick of their vinyl releases over the past year.

Frank Fm - Foreign Affairs Ep

Frank FM made the detroitish, chordish and housy two-tracker mtd.003
- motion sense + can't let you go' some years ago. After this pausing now
he is back with more deep techno and techhouse up to real detroit techno
sound on his mtd.010 - foreign affairs ep'. He builds a spatial and
slightly spherical up to a powerful sound - building a bridge to his
former release. The three tracks are telling a little story about a love
affair in a foreign country. The background photo could be an out of focus
shot by a private investigator. The first track - glossy lips' represents
the female side - a slowly upbuilding deep chordish techhouse track with
an unsteady rhythm and sub-bass. This positive atmosphere grows with
- smooth deepness' - which speaks for itself, but it also comes with chords
and a straight beat beside the liquid techno sound which raises up and
down again to ease the listener diving in a cosmos. Finally - want you
back' with frantic random chords and a faster and harder detroit techno
rhythm - describing the wish to get somebody back. This track ties in with
the Frank FM sound - back to his roots' of his first release on melted
recordings.

Session Victim - See You When You Get Ther

Hamburg duo Hauke Freer and Matthias Relling aka Session Victim return to Delusions of Grandeur with their second long player, 'See You When You Get There'. Right from the start it's clear Session Victim's way with a groove hasn't diminished in the two years since their debut album, 2012's 'The Haunted House of House'. 'Do It Now' and 'Hey Stranger' open the record with the duo's trademark blend of subtle sampling, gloriously swinging beats and the same off-kilter sensibility that consistently raises them above their modern disco peers. The new album marks a conscious progression in Freer & Relling's approach, evolving the sample-based production style that's won them plenty of fans since their emergence in 20

Alex Blaxx - Its Been Done Before (dessous Limited)

Alex Blaxx drops three original tracks for Dessous Recordings following a couple of very well received releases on Buzzing Fly and Sccucci Manucci. Blaxx now resides in Manchester by way of Cape Town - both cities with strong house music credentials. Blaxx himself excels in lush house productions with plenty of soul and a lot of dance floor knowledge. The EP's title track 'It's Been Done Before' gives a healthy nod to the hugely fertile period of New York house in the 1990s, but retains a freshness and spark that sets it apart from many of his contemporaries. It's highly musical and organic, with hugely effective hooks, builds and pads that will bring smiles to the faces of dancers worldwide. 'Gilmore Heureux' is a darker affair, with a raw evolving groove with a Detroit flavor. It's got plenty of grit, and a few innovative twists and turns along the way. 'All the Difference' slows the pace slightly, unwinding a killer groove driven by a piano and punchy drums. About midway through a sublime synth bass joins the fray, and the track lifts off into the ether.

The Stuttgart papi Michel Baumann alias Soulphiction aka Jackmate presents three new power generators on - Treat Your Dj Right' equipped with the right measure of steam and courage. On Halios EP he's getting the juices flowing, however manifested as a compulsion to move. Beyblade' is a glossily illuminated, sensory-enhanced modern club production which shows that Chicago and Detroit could be sister cities, in the heart of Trollinger-Town! Juan is soaked with pure chi-town pads, and applied, frenetic subterranean bass. Through a fully conscious, shifting rhythm and hi-hat that whispers as if a drum is being stroked with a brush, it manages a compelling groove. Length doesn't play a role here, answering the question of why anything should be extended when the moment of euphoria has been reached. Sunbeams demonstrates how a 'whitey' can produce the same velvety, soulful sound of black music, and with the same understanding to boot.

Hazylujah - How Can You Hide From What Never Goes Away

Limited edition 12".

Meda Fury is a brand new London based label bringing new and established producers together from across the globe.

House music is a broad artform. Over each release we will be exploring the infinite possibilities within this genre. Using the EP as a story-telling canvas we hope to create a breeding ground and network for disparate artists from various countries.

Hazylujah's follow up to his Delsin EP is inspired by the works of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Carlos Castaneda. The EP title is a quote from Heraclitus translated today, a criticism of people who ignore the flow of reality.

Enter Hazylujah's desert world first through Get Mezcla, a propulsive windswept rhythm box and otherworldly dream-noise precede a tlapitzalli flute melody. Mystical vocals become layered amongst a tumbling arrangement, progressing and perfecting its existence.

Acqua Amara's subtlety builds from a breath to a wilderness of indigenous birds. Synthetic harmonies form a makeshift Hacienda, before an undulating bassline and imaginary pianos complete the settlement.

How Can You Hide From What Never Goes Away Lights a fire. Native strings and flutes dance out of time making a connection to paradise.

On High In Translucent Tomorrows steps through the calendar door to the new unknown, a multicoloured system of pipes erupt and a magical bass tone flowers. The shaman's prayer completes the divination.

Eduardo De La Calle - My Own Transition

"My Own Transition" has to be one of our favourite techno tracks in recent years. Since it's release three years ago, it has stick with us in a really special way. Having known Eduardo for years, and given that many people couldn't get a copy of the original release, we though it would be a good idea to ask him about repressing it. He quickly accepted, giving us the chance to re-master the track and give it a well deserved second life. The track itself is a classic Detroit techno composition, but with Eduardo's signature brittle melodic progressions and spiritual atmospheres. As a matter of fact, Eduardo himself explains that the track was inspired by his "bhakti yoga studies in an Ashram based in Spain", with the "transition" of the title being "the journey between life and death". Maybe that's the reason why the track has such an emotional strength. The release comes in a single-sided 12" with artwork by Arnau Pi. This will be a vinyl-only release.

Innerspace Halflife - Astral Travelling

The album Astral Traveling by Innerspace Halflife is among us with 9 tunes straight from the universal psyche, yet articulated with the tools of human perception through waveforms. Deeper and deeper the tunes take a listener on a journey of spacey pads, longing melodies, electronic bass notes, and jacking drum programming. In terms of human understanding, the universe is infinite which makes any scenario one can think of possible. With this in mind, Astral Traveling was composed and explores the deepness of creativity as Innerspace Halflife reaches down to pull out sounds using various techniques. The story begins with Teardrop from Nebula 1122+22. Straight from a far away point in space which can serve as the beginning or end of a journey. Deep chord pads and flurrying synths twinkle around while the bassline follows suit, sounding like aliens talking, definitely a conversation of sonic verbs, adjectives, and nouns. After experiencing an assault of melodies, Particle Burst takes command with its chunky beats, rich chords, and many synth lines. Like when scientists found how to split atoms into particles, the bass melody line dances around sounding different with each phrase iteration. The chords here are emotive. So it is only natural that Breaking Lights would follow as the percussion flows, hand claps serge and lead us into a electronic bass line. Swinging hi hats appear and break through the beat like lights followed by a string melody line. Next the deep jack comes to light with the electric sounds from the ionic sphere. Ionic Transport begins with deep chords which lead to nasty rhythms that electrify speaker cones. The syncopated beat keeps jacking, later the action gets busier and a bassline appears to relieve the tension like lightning striking that increases one's heart rate. Starfields is next and this tune focuses on the melodies and rhythms, moving around like twinkling starts. The kick bumps as a bassline flows. After a long time on one chord the tune opens up into a progression causing great relief to the listener's ears. Looking out at starfields, this piece sounds like stars having interstellar conversations through tones. An intermission ensues and a poem about Galaxy Dreaming appears, like most far off galaxies the language is indecipherable to humans ears with the delaying synth lines moving around. Meanwhile between the interstellar talk, the transmission are intercepted by planets. Magical Rings sounds as the bass synth drops, going round and round the melody as the bass chase each other while the sparse percussion moves. The celestial melody comes back and speaks more later in the tune. From these rings dust is generated due to gravitational pulls but not just any dust but Acid Dust. Banging kick drums and multiple acid lines appear to create the groove. Melody lines appear and swell into great soundscapes, the percussion changes nicely augmenting the acid line changes. Then the end of this cosmic adventure comes in on the micro level with Escape System. Atoms being broken down into the finest pieces possible, even the basis of jump technology sounds off with banging kick drums and percussion that moves fast. The bassline arrives first, steadily pulsating, and the deep pads come out to sing several melodies. Balancing between bass and pads equal emotive interstellar astral traveling. Enjoy the ride as Innerspace Halflife shows you one way of Astral Traveling through sonic tones.

Down Off Cooper

Legwork US
30.10.2014

For Legwork's first outing, we've recruited a seminal techno-soul producer from Dallas, Texas, who prefers to stay in the shadows, remaining nameless(ish). That said, anyone who's serious about Detroit techno know's his work on Matrix, Down Low, and most receintly Delsin. On Remix duty are fellow Dallas alumnus Lance DeSardi, head honcho at Legwork, and DJ Cle, the hardest massaging man in house music.
A1. Down Off Cooper If this bassline doesn't hook you, check your pulse. Add some twisting and sliding pads to relentless machine-funked rhythms, and Robert's your mother's brother.
A2: Where's Cityboy The perfect complimentary tune to Down Off Cooper, this one's slightly deeper, while still keeping the drum patterns moving and bass rumbling enough for the most discerning of dance floors.
B1: Down Off Cooper (Lance De Sardi & Cle Remix) Lance & Cle take Down Off Cooper to a more House-oriented dimension, never losing the techno soul of the original. The extra vocal snippet reminescent of classic M.A.W. dubs or Global Communication shoots this one into space.

Jimmy Edgar - Hot Inside

Ultramajic
17.06.2013

Detroit's Berlin-based Jimmy Edgar is on a mission
to manifest dance culture on a level deeper than
any bass can drop. Synthesizing his passions for
esoteric philosophy and '90s club music, Edgar
announces a new EP, label launch, and special
projects with fellow multimedia mystics
Machinedrum and Pilar Zeta.
An alumni of vaunted electronic labels Warp, !K7
and Hotflush, Edgar teams with longtime friend
and frequent collaborator Machinedrum (Travis
Stewart) to launch a new label called Ultramajic.
The two have been 'deep telepathic friends' since
their teen years when Stewart encouraged Merck
Records to sign Jimmy based on a random CDR
that found its way to the label in 1999. In addition to
doing A&R for the new label, Stewart's work with
Edgar includes their side project JETS, as well as
film and installation pieces.
The new label's first release is Edgar's new EP, Hot
Inside, out June 10th. Hot Inside struts with
libidinous abandon and oozes supernatural
essence. The title track opens Hot Inside with a
filtered diva wail, cavernous beats, and warped
techno grooves. 'Shout' is a pulsating electro
stomper, riddled with vocal loops, oscillating
synths....

Nick Anthony Simoncino Feat. Robert Owens - Some People Ep

Italian producer & Hot Mix label boss Nick Anthony Simoncino is back with "Some People", a collaboration with Chicago's legendary House vocalist Robert Owens. Simoncino's 3 original mixes sound just like tracks lifted off lost EP's straight from the mid 80's with deep, melancholy synths, driving analogue drum machine sounds and Owen's yearning vocal performance coming together beautifully while showing off Simoncino's versatility as a producer. "Some People" is perfect late night House music with a classic sensibility, for the deepest hours of the night or the morning.

On remix duties we have the UK's very own Chamboche who delivers a deep, rolling version of "Some People" keeping things nice and stripped back and adding a dubby quality to his mix while Finnish new school House head Trevor Deep Jr's "Warehouse Mix" keeps Owen's vocals right up-front with some killer drum programming and percussion rounding out the EP while keeping the old school vibe firmly anchored to the dance-floor...
