After two incredible EPs, Wayne Snow — the Nigerian-born, Berlin-based vocalist and songwriter — now presents his debut album on Tartelet Records. Freedom TV is the natural sequel to the Max Graef-produced tasters Red Runner (2014) and Rosie (2015), a project marinated in Afro-Caribbean, soulful grooves and topped by Wayne's effortless falsetto acrobatics.
As the title suggests, Freedom TV is an album with themes of liberty, struggle and creative identity pumping through its veins. Within ten tracks, Snow fluently meanders between musical styles: from low-tempo soothers like album opener Cooler' and Fall' to the syncopated bruk of The Rhythm' and cosmic funk escapades found on Nothing Wrong'.Production comes from three varied and solid sources. The tag-team between Snow and fellow Berliner, Max Graef — which started on Graef's 2014 debut Rivers of the Red Planet — is in full effect. The result is six tracks ( Cooler', Still In The Shell', Drunk', Red Runner', Rosie' & Fall') anchored by Graef's now-signature brew of warm-to-the-touch boom-bap, soul, jazz and house. Elsewhere, trips to see the French capital and Neue Grafik yielded three stormers: The Rhythm', Freedom R.I.P' and Nothing But The Best'. Naples-formed, Berlin-based duo Nu Guinea also lend a hand on Nothing Wrong', an uptempo jam which will receive remix treatment from Francis Inferno Orchestra as well as the pair themselves.The works of criminally overlooked, Zimbabwean guerilla fighter-poet, Freedom Nyamubaya (1958-2015), bind everything together. It's her verses, which occupy the end of soul-searching, Peven Everett-esque joint Freedom R.I.P' and provide a regular referential touchpoint. More than anything, Freedom TV is the soundtrack for anyone seeking a wholesome exploration of groove. Smooth and contagiously danceable at points, Wayne Snow has arrived in album territory with an assured cool.

The return of Wasserfall to the Workshop brings a bunch of well-informed, beautifully executed & idiosyncratic tunes that represent our man so well. Charlie, the opener is kind of oddball, jazzed out, abstract house with a strange Charlie Parker homage. Stoned mumbles murk around ideally tuned rimshots and double bass flecks that 'cheekily' plod about sounding like a stumbling one man band. Solid and bumping, Semidaler is gloriously defined by dense mysticism. Sumptuous sample work clocked by a deliciously repetitious and evolved sub pulse.
The similarly veined Tardigrades yields tearduct affecting allure. Intimately expansive, on the rest-assuring tip!
Sobering Voluspaa's funk eclipses it's melancholy vibe of solitary plight with a back room smoke up. Enlisting a heads down arm rubs, a delicate transcendance and A GROOVE.
Conglomorate delivers another vibe to hug the downstairs wall by. Its ability to hold a moment makes 7 minutes feel like 5 seconds. Tackle indeed for the basement bound.

Bristol based 'Ment' steps up again for Honey Glazed Records with two cuts of melodic house that are packed with life and soul. A side - 'A Kind Of Us' sets off its warm grooves with shimmering synths and a looping melodic vocal sample. The track builds, wiggles and morphs until an infectious trumpet hook breaks out. Ments' ability to carve out warm and heart-felt melodies is clear on both of his tracks on this record. The B Side - 'My Days' - sees him use a wider array of instruments to provide a more jazz influenced track. Amongst the dipping and diving bass and masterful tinkering on the keys, he still retains the dance floor in mind. The result is a very intelligent piece of music that will still get the floor moving.On the other side of this 12inch comes three quite contrasting remixes of 'A Kind Of Us'. The emerging talent 'Ross From Friends' brings his trademark lo-fi melodic touch. He creates his own unique hook, with synths from the original only used as a backdrop. Troy Gunner - fresh from an exciting release on Monki's Zoo Music, wastes no time putting his stamp on the original. The track opens with a beefy, hypnotic bass loop. Troy's trademark driving and menacing drums soon come swirling in. He then manages to twist the originals summery, warm synths into a dark and eerie break down before ramping up the hypnotic drums and bass again. Ramu returns to Honey Glazed with a funky 303 jam over cut up synths from the original.The result is a versatile EP that caters for lots of different moods and styles, all packaged inside a sleeve designed by talented Bristol artist and frequent Honey Glazed collaborator - Rosie Carmichael.

Blood Rite's A-Side comes in the form of two fast-paced tracks pulling guidance from juke, footwork and beyond. The opening bars kick-start with Blood Rite's aggressive rolling drums, all complimented with a jazzy trumpet call sitting comfortably atop of complex patterns. Huzzahh is equal parts high energy and smooth, with a keys led groove that is easy on the ears and takes listeners on a four minute journey through Classic Coke's influences.

Flip the 12" onto GTi006's B-Side and the pace slows with the vocals of Days 2 Weeks overdubbing a glitchy juke base. The multiple layers add the signature G10 rawness and depth to the third track from the EP. The final roller, B. Tru, is a twisted edit of an instantly recognisable 80s singalong combined with dancefloor ready drum snares. Blood Rite is a four-track dose of screwed vocal loop rounds and powerful BPM measures.

Mile End Records is pleased to present their latest release, "Slide," which is a collaboration between two undisputed legends of house music: Roy Davis Jr. and Robert Owens.

The song marks the first single off Roy's upcoming full length album for Mile End Records - Destroy and Rebuild - due worldwide later this year. Roy Davis Jr. is known globally for his anthemic catalog of soulful, Chicago-style house with R&B influences. Robert Owens' voice is recognizable on countless house music classics including the seminal "I'll Be Your Friend." Needless to say this meeting of the minds makes perfect sense.

While "Slide" seems predestined to move dance floors, the excitement is in how it accomplishes its magic. A slight acid bass line shimmies away layered in with deep, shifting pads and a short, reverberating stab that creates an upswing in the groove.

Robert Owens sings in the way that only he can, with a slight echo effect leaving lingering trails and creating continuity between multiple vocal parts. Introduced by the onset of piano keys towards the end of the song, the heated singing turns to cool talking.

What would this release be without more heavy hitters on remix duties A fellow Chicagoan with a lengthy history dating back to the '80s, DJ Skull really gives the track an authentic rawness exemplified by that classic era. While based in the UK, Luke Solomon (Classic Music Company) at some point was certainly bit by the Chicago bug, evidenced by his longtime label collaboration with the Windy City's Derrick Carter. Luke really works out the drums in his remix and adds off-kilter bleeps with string like filtered acid sounds.

Moving on to one of Canada's top talents, Andy Roberts (Mixed Signals Music) also reinvents the track's drums, but chooses organs, chimes, and a more hardy bass over the others' 303 sounds. Berkshire's James Blakstar John is up next and holds his own with active, filtered key sounds taking the forefront along with some playful vocal rearrangement.

Roy Davis Jr. and Robert Owens have attracted an all-star cast on Mile End Records that would make it hard for anyone to just let this package slide.

Dele Sosimi's album 'You No Fit Touch Am' was released in 2015 to much universal acclaim. A perfect document of the lessons the keyboard master and vocalist learned in Fela Kuti's ranks during the 70s and 80s, but brought firmly up-to-date and with contemporary social comment as vital to the Afrobeat genre as any rhythm or instrument. In 2016, to take that forward thinking even further, Wah Wah 45s commissioned four huge remixes from a quartet of the UK's most interesting new production names.

That was just part one of the story though - this year the label can reveal the final four remixes to be taken from this hugely popular and influential project.

Setting their sites further afield, first up is Roman turntablist and producer DJ Khalab. Since winning Track of the Year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards in 2016 for his collaboration with Baba Sissiko, this talented Italian has been very much in demand. His remix of Dele's heavy hitter 'E Go Betta' combines sprightly electronics with ear-bending bass drops to provide a forward thinking dance floor destroyer.

Along side Khalab comes new boy to the scene and a definite name to watch in 2017, O'Flynn. His debut release on Blip Records was a percussive monster and something of a head-turner, and his latest offering on his very own imprint caught the ear of Gilles Peterson, among others. O'Flynn's re-edit of 'E Go Betta', one which gives it a little more foot friendly bounce, emerged on Wah Wah 45s in digital form last year, but proved so popular that it had to be included in this heavyweight 12-inch release.

On the flip, irreverent album cut 'I Don't Care' gets two very different re-works for two very different London based producers. First up, XVI recording artist Books comes through with a firing Afro-jazz/house workout aimed directly at feet, whereas Wah Wah 45s family member and up-and-coming knob-twiddler in his own right, Bopperson, offers up a more mid-tempo tropical delight - the perfect way to complete this stunning selection of remixes.

Once again, Wah Wah 45s have delivered four tracks of killer dance floor fodder for pretty much every occasion. Taking the already incendiary music of Dele Sosimi in a more angular and electronic direction, worthy of another 12" release on this most discerning imprint, we're sure you'll agree.

Born in Hackney, East London, but soon to return to his parents' native Nigeria at the age of four, Dele Sosimi was schooled and raised in Fela Anikulapo Kuti's shadow at the height of early 70s afrobeat. Having been chosen by Fela to join his band at somewhat of a tender age, he was still a young man when sharing Fela's Glastonbury stage in 1984, and became both Musical Director for both Fela's Egypt 80 and Femi Kuti's Positive Force.

After Fela's passing in 1997, Dele went on to concentrate on his own solo career and, with diligent patience, carved out his own Afrobeat crown. In London, where he now resides, his Afrobeat Vibration all-nighters are charged with his passion, labours and his unrelenting spirit and deliver Fela classics alongside his own compositions from his first two studio albums, Turbulent Times, and Identity.

Limited colored vinyl repress of this classic EP from this French project (not to be confused with AEROPLANE on ESKIMO) for MATHEMATICS 20th anniversary. Total of 4 tracks mixing disco, house, and electro...all with a decidedly French smoothness. Be quick!

Way back in 1981, two musicians got together to make a record. Mike Collins played guitar and had just bought a Roland CR78 - the first programmable drum machine. Keith O'Connell played Fender Rhodes piano and Prophet 5 synthesizer. Excited about the quirky and unusual instrumental track they'd composed, when the duo entered London's Utopia Studios to finish off their creation, neither could have predicted what was to follow... Now viewed by many as one of the most influential early electronic dance records, 'Rude Movements' was swiftly picked up on by David Mancuso, who used it to devastating effect at his infamous 'Loft Parties', in turn introducing it to Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and Kenny Dope, a group of young DJs who would go on to write the blueprint for dance music as we know it. In the more than 35 years since its release, 'Rude Movements' has continued to inspire and excite, sampled by The Bucketheads' classic House track 'Whew!' (featured on recent BBE compilation '20 years of Henry Street Records') and listed by a veritable 'who's who' of dance music's elite as an all-time favourite. Rare and much sought-after on vinyl, BBE are happy to announce the release of a fully remastered version of 'Rude Movements' presented alongside the original demo version 'Raw Movements', plus three other versions of the iconic track. Also included on the vinyl package are the Afrika Bambaata inspired 'Street Beat' and 808/MiniMoog workout 'Palace Strut', as well as three other 80s SunPalace compositions. CD and digital versions expand the catalogue still further, with more experimental SunPalace magic. Timeless original, quirky and unique, these recordings are set to inspire yet another generation of DJs, producers and music fans.

A Complex Web - The Story of THE SHINING PATH...began in 1982 when Peter Miller (aka Dr. William S Ray - vocals, tapes, guitar) met Andrew Millar (aka Maurice Spectograph the Nose-y Pieman - program execution) in Gold Coast, Australia. While sharing a similar taste in music, they decided to form a band, so DIVE POSITION was born. Equipped with a Korg synthesiser and Tascam 4-track recorder, they 'wanted to have the 'sound' of Kraftwerk, the groove of Can, and the 'menace' of Throbbing Gristle', ending up with 'a cross of Suicide and the Residents', as Peter recalls. In a local record shop they met Stig Andre Leonardson (aka Vincent Blackshadow), who joined the duo on percussion and drum machine programming. Their motto was 'Now is Then'. DIVE POSITION then became THE FATAL CHARM around 1984, and THE FATAL CHARM became THE SHINING PATH who eventually released their only album 'Basic Training Manual' in an edition of only 250 copies, most probably in 1986. The band then started to drift apart, and shortly after Andrew sadly passed away - this re-issue of 'Basic Training Manual' and the upcoming compilation 'Now is Then' comprised of previously unreleased DIVE POSITION and THE SHINING PATH material is dedicated to his memory.

Aussie rare groove ensemble Kerbside Collection's second album of instrumental funk and jazz grooves "Trash Or Treasure" (released May 2015) gets the remix, rework and re-use treatment with a variety of re-interpretations with everything from downtempo hip- hop/neo-soul and dusty analogue lounge beats, to fuzzy, Balearic electronic club workouts and even some broken beat flavours.Kicking off this limited edition 12" vinyl, AV artist/DJ/Producer Sampology lights up the sitar disco vibes of "Strawberry Fields" taking the track into sizzling Balearic, club work-out territory with added afro percussion, squelchy wobbles and effects, perfect for summer festivals and hazy end-of-night vibes. Vinnie Laduce's follows with his cruisy vocoder and lo-fi indie beats reconstruction of "Shake 'n' Bake", while another local Brisbane producer TwoDee (who also appears on "Mind the Curb" remixed) delivers an eighties, electro break flavoured re-work of 'Rabbit Hole'.Side B starts JNBO (The Cactus Channel bass player) and his unique wonky, analogue and quirky touch to the title track for a fuzzed out, analogue electronics burner for fans of Floating Points, Cro Magnon, Dabrye and Dimlite (bounced to tape no-less for added bump!). Closing in on this special vinyl is Kerbside's drummer Paprika who takes the coastal groove of 'Bogangar' to the afro side with his 'Mountain Air Afro- dub', recreating a low slung, Tony Allen styled afrobeat groove with added melodic movements and dubby effects, while he adds another remix taking "Trash Or Treasure" into future jazz/broken beat territory with added percussion, moog bass and a surprise heavy change up at the end, almost reflective of some classic Fat Freddy's Drop!

For the next volume of the long running Turntables on the Hudson series, we head down south to Brazil to get a little dancefloor sunshine to warm up these cold winter months. The Turntables on Ipanema EP features four tracks on a 12" from the digital compilation which will be dropping the same day on Wonderwheel Recordings.

First up, Brazil's DJ G gives us "Samba Da Terra", a deep, jazzy Brazilian house/samba fusion joint sure to get all the dancers on the floor. Next, the ever prolific Simbad comes through with the brand new "Detroit De Janiero", a bangin' track equally inspired by early Motor City Techno as the drum rhythms of Brazil. On the flip side, Nickodemus and Simbad collaborate on "BerimBOOM" - another deep Electronic house joint with an infectious bassline that percussively floats into Rio. Rounding up the EP, Wonderwheel mainstay Zeb comes with the slo-mo spacey dub house vibes of "Space Forest".

In the eighteen months since Gregory Porter exploded onto the international music scene with his debut album Water', he has racked up a stream of awards including a best Jazz Vocal Grammy nomination. He has also appeared live on Later' with Jools Holland, and Jazzwise Magazine voted Water' the best jazz album of 2011. It includes the politically charged 1960 What', the video to which has been on constant rotation on music television. The song with its pulsating beat has also become a dancefloor favourite and has been given a sturdier club feel courtesy of Opolopa on his Kick & Bass Re-Rub'

Gregory Porter as narrator, sounding like Amiri Baraka, declares on 1960 What' that the motor city is burning y'all—that ain't right' and refers to Martin Luther King Jr.'s death and describes trigger-happy policing (supported by a trumpet that blares, jabs, rumbles, and yearns), and the song portrays how certain events turn people against the possibilities of life and light. A vision that only recognizes strength and cruelty and rage is dangerously imperfect: rather, creativity, education, intelligence, sensitivity, democratic political participation, and compassionate social work are goals and virtues that can be affirmed, if not actively pursued, in all times.

'Freedom School' is well known for releasing music from the likes of IG Culture, Mark De Clive Lowe, Eric Lau and Rick "The Godson' Wilhite. The third volume of the FREEDOM SCHOOL D.J. SERIES features the work of Kaidi Tatham. There are three solid tracks on this 12' from beat-down House to jazzy down tempo beats. Kaidi brings his futuristic funky fusion to give all the dancers warm and peaceful vibes!

Unlucky 013 Ha! This one's a pearler. Multi talented producer Red Rack'em climbs up the fertile n s y d e spirit tree for this glowing summer release in the form of the 'Nothing Without You' EP. A mutation from the same skunky-soul strain of n s y d e 005 by Skymark / Lady Blacktronika. The title cut is a result of a Red Rack'em tour through the south pacific, connecting with Inkswell and fam. What was meant to be a Rack'em / Inkswell track instead ended up with Australian vocalist, now Berlin diamond in the rough: Misumami liberally sprinkling her magic throughout. With a proposed subject matter based around missing loved ones while apart, Misumami weaves an enchanting story of longing, and matters of the heart, through signature sleek, clever, floor ready Rack'em production. Flip for 'Love Beat' and here we get Red Rack'em- the Funky Technician fanboy, dusty fingered Native Tongue devotee, and closet Jazz dancer. The loose, bumping drum programming and sculpted, cubist jazz sampling (inna heavy Mandalorian funk fashion) weld this nocturnal seduction dance together. Eben diesen 'Eiskolbenkonfekt' konnten sich Arts & Leni (Ton liebt Klang) auch nicht durch die Zuckerwatte gehen lassen und auch der KlangKünstler (Zuckerton, Ton Liebt Klang) hat mit seiner flotten Tanzmusik diesmal unkonventionell die Jazzküche angebraten. Ein zuckersüßes Spektakel das unbedingt auf dem Plattenteller serviert werden sollte. Und als Nachtisch ein paar bunte Lollis. Next up on Nang we are pleased to bring a really positive 3 year association with West Country, UK based collective Situation to a fruitful crescendo. After 4 singles, numerous remixes and a couple of Beach Disco mixes we are extremely proud to present the sister release "Revisions" to the debut album from Situation "Visions". This vinyl release features the remix highlights of the Situation album and some brand new exclusive remixes to boot.

Situation is live, DJ and studio collective made up of the core members Ben Vacara, Mr Mulatto, Dom Thompson, James Payne & Paul Walker, with Vocalists Lauren Rimell & Andre Espeut(Defected & Fools gold records). The crew got together in 2008 through a shared love of house, disco, funk & soul music. Based in & around Stroud & Bristol in the UK, the crew released their first Edit based single on Disco Deviance with huge support from DJ's including Greg Wilson, who featured their edits on a Radio One essential mix & Resident Advisor mixes. Their Edit "Pushin' On" which was a rework of an Alice Russel/Quantic track got snapped up by Tru Thoughts & released as an official remix. They then formed their own "Situation" label in 2009 with a string of successful edits, establishing themselves strongly within the worldwide edit scene, which they still continue with. They have now gone on to write more & more original compositions (as well as edits) & so in 2012 formed their new label "Situationism" which concentrates on original compositions & compilations from themselves & other established & up & coming artists.

Proceedings open up with the big nu-disco grooves of "Get To Know Me" with UK based Hot Toddy on the remix. Driving bass guitar and bags of dance floor sass. Next is the hypnotic oscillating groove of "Barcelona" with Psychemagik working their synth big room groove. Keeping the remix groove high and UK based next up is Wolverhampton based Peza with his pulsating synth bass lines working themselves into "Standing Here Baby".

Next up on side B is some ubercool Nordic Russian beats with 5 Reasons on the melodic and sweeping remix of "Stay With Me". "Secret Situation" gets a big room dance re-rub from Pete Herbert next before South American Phunktastike takes on "Stay With Me" with big room aplomb. The grooves are bold, strong and incessant. Sportloto put their Russian spin on "Here Comes The Sun" adding layers of leftfield synth quirk to the jazzy guitar and lazy summer vocal.

Vampire Disco strip back the beats on "Standing Here Baby" turning in an offbeat twister. Next up UK based French man Jerry Bouthier teams up with Italian studio partner Andrea Gorgenio to deliver the pop house groove of "Like A Medicine". Bitter Suite turn in their remix of "Visions" with their 80s funk inspired Bitter Suite Re-rub.

"Good Life" receives a slo-mo synth strip down from Siberian based Acos Coolkas. Their trademark Rhodes and bleepy synth taking a centre stage appearance. To round things off "Work It Trough" gets an album closing stripped down night-time remix.

The Situation "Revisions" remixed version is also released with its sister album "Visions" which features the original versions of all these fine remixed tracks.

Expansive synth the perfect tone setter for the album to come. Next up "Work Through It" gives us the first taste of the soulful vocals of Andre Espeut. His smooth tones sit effortlessly over the stomping grooves, house pianos and brass stabs.Situation first came to our attention when we heard their "Barcelona" track in 2012. We were blown away with its Balearic grooves and signed it as their debut single with us. This track is next on the track list sounding as fresh as ever.Get To Know" features a catchy vocal top-line, jazzy Rhodes and locked-on synth bass melded in perfect unison. "Here Comes The Sun" does exactly what it says on the tin with its sun drenched grooves, summertime Rhodes and lazy guitar. "Standing Here Baby" has Andre back on the soulful vocals this time over a walking synth bass and burbling synth swells. Title track "Visions" takes things on a housier, dancefloor excursion.Next up is a cover of the Inner City classic "Good Life". The Situation re-rub features the stabby synth of the original but adds layers of new dimension with its driving analog saw tooth bass synth and dancefloor sensibility. "Stay With Me" takes things on a jazzier detour whilst we lean towards the 80s with the big synth and snare fills of "Secret Situation Part 3". Things close off with the perfect closing nightcap of the evening vibe grooves and soaring vocals of Lauren Rimell.The Situation album also comes with its sister companion release "Revisions" which features the remix highlights of the album tracks and some brand new ones commissioned specially for the 2 X LP vinyl release.

This time they welcome back James Welsh to the label with a full EP backed up by a remix by Dutch rising star, Frits Wentink.

It's not every day you find a keyboard player with chops like John Camp. Plucked from the same Minneapolis Jazz vine that grew such deliciously ripened talents as No Regular Play's Greg Paulus and Aaron James (Gregory Porter band), we met Camp for the first time at the Marcy Hotel. Initially adding his signature touch to other's Crew Love records and last year dropping an incredible EP on Have A Killer Time, the Mistral EP marks his first official Crew Love release! Camp's range is dynamic and this body of music certainly shows it. From jazz funk infused deep house, to analogue heavy brokenbeat, to vein-melting downtempo with a Dilla twist, this EP takes you there and then some. More from John Camp in his words: "Mistral started out as an odd-ball tune put together in the wee hours at the Marcy Penthouse. Having played it live a number of times with my good friends Greg Paulus and Nick Debruyn from No Regular Play, here it is now, in it's final version featuring Greg Paulus on Trumpet. Sirocco is a bit of a counterpart to Mistral, slowing the tempo down to a nice slow groove and branching out into some new realms. Unlike Mistral, Sirocco is a darker and more mysterious song. I have been fortunate enough to meet Aidan Carroll, a fantastic Bass player, who has laced Vandalia with some tasty bass lines. The song is sort of focused around the bass line progression and shows Carroll's amazing ability to weave a beautiful pattern through these unusual chord changes. Lastly, there's Medusa, Soul Clap and Camp's collaborative effort with the Clap steering the wheel and Camp firing all the musical heavy artillery. This dancefloor friendly house/techno flex has stood the test of time in Soul Clap's DJ sets.
