It might be commonplace, but it holds some self-evident truth for the return of Lauer - to the album format that is. Three years after his debut 'Phillips' on Running Back, the melody man from the outback of Frankfurt am Main presents Borndom: a thirteen track trip through a universe that is specifically his. Far from being a stranger to Permanent Vacation with singles like Delta NRG or Donnerlake being heralds of the things to come, it provides a home to their spiritual kinship and ethos.

Rooted in pop music and mixed with the reactance and sound aesthetics of punk, while wearing dancing shoes, you'll be hard pressed to find lots of contemporaries that till a similar field. With a sound signature, a melodic repertoire and an emotional quality that is immediately recognizable, often yearns for vocals (a point of criticism that is minimized as you will see in just a second) and is if nothing else highly individualised, Lauer might one of the thoroughly honest indie dancers out there.

Unlike his other adventures in club music (hardly lets a week go by without a release or a remix for the most critically-acclaimed outfits on this planets either on his own, under the Hotel Lauer umbrella or as being part of Tuff City Kids), his second album makes the most use of these moments and that specific stylistic. Of course, you can find typical high flying Lauer moments like 'Mausback' or 'Hump Acid' or the Nu-Groove-esque desire dubbed'Pal Oh', but the image of a singer-songwriter with a midi-kit prevails. There are miniatures like 'Carpet', the blissful melancholia of the opener 'Crewners', the album's title track that sounds like the lost soundtrack to an eighties sitcom about college nerds and maybe most startling, Borndom's vocal features. 'ESC' (feat. Jasnau) being the proverbial cold wave mating dance in the neon light, while the two songs with Ela take care of romantic highs and lows.

Airaboi is Aitor Rabell's solo project and an alias that has allowed this Valencia born electronic musician

and producer -now residing in Berlin- to record a diary of emotive sounds since 2014. After his brilliant debut EP Endless Field', released on his own label Banned In Vegas in 2016, Airaboi returns with "Dream In Motion". This extended EP was written and produced between Barcelona, Valencia and Berlin and reflects the range of emotions he experienced in uncertain times, when making difficult decisions about his future. Tracks like "Nocturnal Animals" and "We'll Stay Here Forever" demonstrate how leftfield, dream house and experimental electronica can live in unison, incorporating a sentimental and nostalgic sound. The EP's final track Dream In Motion' was created during the time Rabell was relocating to Berlin to begin a new adventure. It provides a rollercoaster of raw feelings, combining perfectly with wistful undertones and all the innocence and joy of a child in a theme park.

After the huge waves caused by the first release on Guy Gerber's new Rumors label - a collaboration between himself and Innervisions king pin Dixon - the second release is sure to be just as hotly anticipated. It comes from inventive Israeli house man Chaim and is backed with a remix from Life & Death boss DJ Tennis and Guy himself.

Chaim, real name Chaim Avital, has been producing celestial, spiritual house music since 2007. It's come on labels like BPitch Control, Supplemental facts and Turbo and spawned the stunning full length Alive in 2011. On this new track he is in fine form, reaching for the stars in seriously stylish fashion.

'Blue Shadow' is a perfectly formed house track that manages to be epic and intimate at the same time. It takes you on a purposeful journey and follows an delightful upward arc as heavenly synths spread out behind supple, ticking house beats. It's truly a thing of beauty that will form a perfect high point of any emotional DJ set in the coming months.

First to remix is DJ Tennis who has built his own great musical and artistic empire with the Life & Death label, releasing music from the likes of Tale of Us and Thugfucker. His version is much less serene and sumptuous, instead the Italian breaks up the beats into jostling patterns and layers in more textured, grainy percussion. Its dark and foreboding until the heavenly synth glow of the original returns once more at the mid point.

Finally Guy Gerber, who is working on an album with P Diddy as well as planning more Rumors events around the world, turns in his Barkan remix and in the process flips the original into something even more dreamy and delightful. It's a slight more driven and direct take on the original but features just as many mesmerising melodies.

Once again here, Guy Gerber and Rumors have more than come up with the goods: expect to hear these everywhere this summer.

Following a limited tape release for Ecstatic, Berlin's Nat Fowler renders his meticulous Novoline for its second full-length release, a killer marriage of automated EBM and unexpected midi disruptions, continuing a lifelong quest for esoteric knowledge and a love of archaic computer hardware.
Modelled on re-appropriated software, run on two separate Atari ST's, Movements is the compelling result of obtuse production technique and painstaking trial and error; basically experimentation at the service of discovering a sound that really sounds unlike anything else out there. As he explains:
'I like the idea of using restrictions in order to find and push boundaries, from limiting which octaves I use to how many notes at a time. I use the only PC capable of MIDI that had no
multitasking, so communication is immediate, a direct mechanical communication from my fingers to the sounds is created. I feel lucky because technology has accelerated so fast since the
first digital synthesisers and PCs that nothing since the early 1980s has been really pushed to its limits.
In that sense, he can be placed in a small category of operators - including The Automatics Group, Dave Noyze, Lorenzo Senni and V/Vm among them - who persistently gnaw at the boundary
between dance-pop and avant-electronics, and with all of whom he shares a capacity for hearing the poetry of singular frequencies, unique pitch combinations and the strange electronic timbres just waiting to be be born from overlooked, outmoded equipment.
Whilst at times it may recall the saltiest digital tone and gait of early Chicago house and Belgian new beat, there's a futuristic funk and idiosyncratic ambiguity to Movement that entirely
belongs to Novo Line; whether bubbling up the mutant dembow lacquer of opener, The Movement
1, radiating form the tightly-bound, curdled funk of Hot Piece, or jabbing like a bag of cyborg slow house cats in The Movement 2, it really does make for one of the year's finest and most addictive
dancefloor mutations, bar none.

Kickin' In', an epic 12-minute journey through disco, that Patrick Cowley recorded in 1978. The song encapsulates the Hi-NRG dance music that Patrick became known for. It was an 'up' sound for the gay disco scene, music that would compliment and sometimes enhance all night dancing. On the flip are two earlier songs produced between 1975-77 featuring basslines by college classmate and studio mate Maurice Tani. Both songs feature Patrick narrating erotic gay sex fantasies inspired by San Francisco's leather bars, back rooms and bathhouses. These songs show the sleazy side of Cowley's slow burning, oozing electronic creations.

As with Jaguar Mirror, their grasp of all things analogue begins with guitar laying the slightly imperfect foundation for four harmonious narratives, a journey that begins with a fast paced gallop across vast landscapes in search of the Incan god of thunder, Catequil, and gently concludes with us lying horizontally to absorb sporadic beams of healing light. The discourse throughout Night School Of Universal Wisdom is as charming as it is exquisite, orienting the listener with a bouquet of warm tones whilst layering plies of musical dialogue so subtle they require repeated study. Thunder Tillman manage to weave the past into future without diverting to pastiche, successfully merging their characterized production with melodic mastery and a sense of humor, a creative achievement that accredits them as two of our most esteemed scholars.

Fritz Kalkbrenner, German Producer and Singer, releases his third Studio Album - Ways Over Water' on his Berlin Label SUOL. Jean-Louis Huhta and Joachim Nordwall are HIGH BOYS. Together they share a deep interest in old school techno acid, aswell as electronic experimentalism and insane electro-acoustics . They want to make music that will mess with your mind, and make you move while your skull is melting. Together they have served in the ritual rock group The Skull Defekts for over a decade but this is their first own project together. Huhta also does is killer project Dungeon Acid amongst other important things, and Nordwall runs his iDEAL label since '98 and makes electronic music alone and with other heads. HIGH BOYS will not change the musical or political climate but they will make you feel... different.

Following Swayzak's Gestures Of A Sycophant, the third release on Beatnik Boulevard sees the return of Appleblim after he launched the label in style with the Conch Shell Motives EP. This time the Berlin-based producer is working alongside long-time collaborator and fellow Bristol bassweight alumni Komon - the duo have turned out EPs for Aus Music and Apple Pips in the past, but this 12' represents the first new material from them since 2014.

The heads-down, meditative lilt of Appleblim & Komon's Bristol past looms in the shadows on this EP, but it's shot through with a steely, modernist dance floor bite and high-end sound design. Know Yourself pivots around crafty, 2-step kinked drums but there's plenty of space afforded to atmospheric synth surges that plunge the track into a mood-altering headspace just to the left of the conventional dance floor.

In a more overt step away from the club, Enigmatic Light finds the pair exploring reduced, experimental approaches without discarding their penchant for heavy drum pressure. The sparse but booming kicks and bass stabs provide a powerful anchor to the swirling array of melodic matter coursing through the track, striking the perfect balance between structured arrangement and free-flowing sonics.

Stepping Out Of Yesterday closes the EP out with a beautiful, crooked reflection peppered with rich, chiming dub ripples, out of which a sprightly acid line emerges to affirm the electronica leanings of the track, and the EP as a whole. It's a fitting end to a record that sees both producers striking out into exciting territory where the moody soundsystem pressure of their past can coexist with the shimmering, psychedelic production that comes so naturally to them.

What happens when one of the most exciting electronic music projects of the last fifteen years meets the pioneer of Cosmic Disco The result is stunning and with no doubt one of the most interesting things we have heard in a while.
Psycho Radio was born in 2002 from an idea of the Italian producer Daniele Tignino and sound engineer Pat Legato, with vocals from British singer Leroy C Anderson.
They burst in the music scene with an innovative sound that took inspiration from the 80's new wave, funk and electro grooves.
Tracks like In The Undergroun' and Right Stuff brought a breath of fresh air in those years, and they still sound very actual today.
2016 has seen the addition of producer Da Lukas to the project, with Psycho Radio now back with an explosive new single called Bad Reputation. Once again with the
captivating vocals by LC Anderson. The legendary disco innovator Daniele Baldelli teams up once again with Marco Dionigi to bring us two stellar remixes that move from the funk infused vibe to their trademark Cosmic Balearic journey.

Clash Lion is a mix of three personalities; Shall Ocin, TERR and Daniel Watts. Three artists with different musical backgrounds merging forces to create a truly eclectic and open-minded label.

All that changed when Morrison received an email from Spacetalk Records two years ago, asking about the possibility of reissuing 'To See One Eagle Fly', the B-side to one of their 7' singles that has long been a favourite of label co-founder Danny McLewin. Once a deal had been done, Morrison mentioned that he had hours of unissued recordings in his loft; a treasure trove of ultra-rare multi-track master tapes that could be freshly mixed and mastered for release. When the Spacetalk Records' team finally got a chance to listen, they were astonished by the timeless quality of the songs. Put simply, they just had to be released.

The resultant album is a stunning set: an intoxicating glimpse into the world of two previously unheralded master songwriters whose musical vision encapsulates all that was good about Californian music during the late '60s and early '70s. Rooted in the American folk revival and folk-rock movement of the late '60s, the album's 15 thoughtful, heartfelt songs are laden with sly nods to the likes of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Ned Doheny, Michael Deacon, Cy Timmons, Gene Clark and Buffalo Springfield. The tracks were recorded at various times between 1970 and '82 and gives a small glimpse of the duo's total body of unissued work. The release comes with extensive liner notes telling the remarkable story of two lifelong friends and musical collaborators who thought their moment had passed.

Following the rapturously received top ten album 'Our Love', which has dominated end-of-year lists, Caribou has revealed a gloriously layered remix of 'Your Love Will Set You Free' by the one and only Carl Craig.

Dan Snaith had this to say about the remix 'Carl Craig is a peerless remixer. I've dreamed of having him remix one of my tracks for ages. He was one of the first people to publicly mention how much he liked 'Swim' when it was released and we've been in touch since then. Before I'd gathered up the courage to ask him to remix a track on this album he got in touch and suggested it himself. The result is superlative and speaks for itself.'

Milky glass stands for a semitransparent, fragile barrier causing a diffuse glance onto life. It is about force, obsession, excess, consciousness, evolvement, liberation, reconciliation, inner conflicts, accomplishments and the intercourse with these subjects that were decisive for the genesis of 'Glass'. Paul Camillo Rachel (Aparde) was able to give back the liberty to his musical output, that he consciously subordinated, limited and aligned. 'Glass' sounds more like breakout, more offensive, deeper insight with more attack, passion and maybe a little much of pathos. An unmistakable arrangement and atmosphere, accomplished through the usage of only self recorded material. Kind of urban and conceptional field recording of sounds in all kinds of
environments, selected and sorted by themes. thus, for the title 'glass' different kinds of glass were acoustically combined with other materials.

Selected analogue instruments and a reduced use of software resulted in an homogenized, warm and classical but specific character. Crystalline, organic percussion, vivid surfaces, sudden rhythms and extent atmosphere, which distinctively scatter throughout and complement the stereoscopic sound image. The own voice, which will also be part of the
upcoming works was out in a stronger focus. After a diffuse phase and adjacent relocation finally resulting in the availability of their own room for musical and personal development, the
songs originated between the end of 2015 and mid 2016.

Each and every song went through a lengthy process of development and many underwent a radical preadaptation around the start of 2017. The acoustic pattern of 'Glass' became more and more distinct. The album was then finalized an early summer of 2017 in an old cottage in
the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, a very unique lake district in the north of Germany. The homonymous title track summarizes the atmosphere of the album in a comprehensible way and is as well the oldest title on the album. The topic was visually translated by literally looking through a milky glass: intertwined limbs of elusive bodies, diffuse and bizarrely aesthetic.

Last years SVS residency took place in Budapest at 4DSOUND's 'Spatial Sound Institute', where SVS artists from LA, NY, Osaka, Seoul, Berlin, London,Tel Aviv and Munich worked for 10 days preparing a showcase on the 4DSOUND system.During rehersals for the Showcase, Bartellow alias Beni Brachtel met Grun alias Daichi Furukawa During three long nightshifts, the tracks emerged out of a continuous great vibe. Always joined by several artists from the SVS family, it became the soundtrack for a very special event. It's not an everyday happening that your wife is remixing one of your tracks. This is exactly the case with Simina Grigoriu's brand new Remix for Paul Kalkbrenner. Simina who is married to Paul Kalkbrenner for almost two years gives her remix treatment to his track - Kleines Bubu' from the 2011 album - Icke wieder'. The Original Version gets a huge Techhouse-Update using the original Strings-Ensemble Hookline. The additional Vocal Samples and the big Disco-Bassline give a unique flavour to this well made remix.

Although B12 output has been the solo work of Steven since 2015-2017, this time he steps outside of the B12 name and releases under his own name. One of the founders of UK Techno, he has released on labels such as Warp Records UK, B12 Records, Soma Records, Delsin Records, FireScope Records, ART , Buzz and De:Tuned.

The EP entitled 'From Me To You' is all about the sharing and passing on of feelings and emotions from another place. It touches on sadness, joy and gratitude.

'Down And Down' is a Sombre Title: where is down and down to where Don't be fooled into thinking that this is another journey into darkness. This track is pure and glorious uplifting Techno but once again with an alter-ego of melancholy. A pensive string/pad line underpins the track, which is dominated by a glorious slide riff that takes the helm and propels it forward.

'Decliner Box' is manic depression in a music form. A very simple tune, it's about mental decline with some nifty 808 programming. It is so simple and sounds like 'anyone could do this' yet in conjunction with the moody pads, really captures the imagination and drifts you away.

'The Life Giver' is dedicated to the life giver and 'a power greater than me'. It has Rutter's trademark quirky drum programming, a strong feature of the producer's current output these past 2 years. Crunchy and almost disjointed, they all hold together. There is no real baseline here, but with a siren to the heavens throughout with pads and slide riffs interwoven, it becomes a tune of hope and emotion.

'The Battle Continues' is the third instalment in the 'Battle' series of tracks with its predecessors being 'Battle Within' on FireScope 001 and 'Battle Deep Within' on Touched - Music for Macmillian Cancer Support 35. This time, 'The Battle Continues' is a tune of two parts. Slow moving and very deep drums and percussion with emotive synth parts take us to
the first part of this ride. Around 3:20, phase two begins with a soundscape that reminds one of being on some kind of train journey of human suffering -- a train to a very dark place.
Finished in glorious yellow and white splatter vinyl with exclusive full colour artwork by Steven's wonderful friend, Sarah Sparkes.

'After the initial "Square One"sessions we felt that "Arpa" was less of a "teamplayer"and one that would be difficult to shoehorn naturally into position on the album. Where the album sounded more like breaking new(old) ground between the two of us, "Arpa"is the one that felt most like an expected outcome from these sessions. Purpose made for adventurous dancefloors, either on earth or in a parallel universe you'll find "Arpa"in 3 versions. The original with it's sparse BUT "all hands on the desk"arrangement, the chopped up and reassembled remix with it's static energy cranked up to the max and last but not least the "Plastikman BUT in the 60's..." version in "drum version". Once again utilizing a giant mixing desk for the arrangement, 4 hands(+ other free limbs), the percussive elements are let free to roam in what we call a "dj-unfriendly tool"'

Man Power returned to his Northern home for one Last Waltz. This is their joint offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, Man Power welcomes us with Tistish, stepping slightly out of his comfort zone and employing a boxy breakbeat to create a dose movement. This contrasts his signature fatty bassline and together they establish a ground on which to stack layers of atonal square and sawtooth waves. About halfway through he introduces a massively seductive string lead and for the remainder of the ride this palette of sounds coalesce in dark orchestral beauty. On side B, Man Power's cohorts Last Waltz deliver Nee Shitteru, a true stomper of a track complete with in-your-face toms and off-time percussion patterns, an intense driving acid line, and aggressive shamanic chanting. Throw in some crash cymbals, sci-fi sound effects and a smattering of gamelan and it amounts to an overwhelmingly chaotic and psychedelic trip. These two songs will have you speaking in tongues.

Hot on the heels of his smash hit 'Get Beasty' EP released in February this year, Hot Creations favourite Patrick Topping is back with another superb release in the running to be his most successful yet! The 'Boxed Off' EP features three dance floor bombs, just as we've come to expect from talented youngster, all with that signature Patrick Topping sound yet each completely unique. 'Forget' is potentially his biggest track yet, a staple of Jamie's current sets it's truly infectious and set to be feature heavily at WMC this year. 'Boxed Off' is menacing, rumbling & dark heads-down affair whilst 'Schwicked' is another hooky as hell bomb from Patrick. Another killer three track EP from Patrick Topping, who seems like he can do no wrong at the moment!

Patrick Topping impressed us all with his debut EP 'Walk On', with his tracks being championed by Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and the Hot Creations crew. His next EP 'Any Amounts' was one of the biggest releases of the year for Hot Creations. More recently his 'Get Beasty' EP was released, receiving masses of support including regular plays on Radio 1 from the likes of Annie Mac and Pete Tong who crowned him as a 'Future Star' on his show.

Alongside releases on his home label Hot Creations he has a track coming out on the Defected Miami CD and remixes on the way for Circus Recordings and Resonance Records.

The second release on Andras' tongue-twisting label 'Punp'. 'Corn' opens with a minute of hard-panned stereo banjo; a deep bassline close on it's boots. *'Dust' strikes a more sombre note - the distant bleep of a doof lost in a cloud of red dirt and radioactive fallout. Are those rave whistles or Geiger counter clicks Seal the doors and take a LandCruiser tempo tour of a contaminated atomic test site. High fructose samples from the frozen food isle. Hot-music that's still cold in the middle.
