Dj W!ld - All Night Long

Releasing vinyl needs to be always special. One advantage of releasing in physical format is that you will keep that jewel your whole life. That´s what our friend DJ W!LD has done: give birth to a house gem.

All Night Long features three cuts of classic house sound approach. Both three original tracks show a brilliant use of samples, sometimes giving a special chilled atmosphere as in `All Night Long´ and `Heart Break´ where those dreamy chords melt with the sound of analog percussion. `Just In Time´ is a great lesson of jazzy groove which has been remixed to perfection by other master of the craft, dutch hero Steve Rachmad who delivers a ska influenced interpretation driven by a rising bassline.
We feel very proud to count with this ode to house in our catalogue.

Mr. Kavalicious - Make Me

London based producer Kaveesh Mangtani aka Mr. Kavalicious fronts up the next vinyl EP on Milan's number 1 house imprint, DaBit Records.

The 'Make Me' EP comprises 2 original cuts from Mr. Kavalicious and 2 remixes of the originals, one from the quality production duo from Munich 'Coeo', the other from the dabit label duo of Nick Morris & Dave Scott.

As you get to know Mr. Kavalicious' productions you realise he is skilled at making the musical elements part of the rhythm of the track. The A side, entitled 'Dragon' is a lush deep house chugger, which perfectly outlines this skill. The Coeo remix, which sits on the same side of the vinyl, takes the fundamental elements of the original and crushes them into a raw and very analogue sounding track. Big pads weave their way around the track, building and crashing into a piano breakdown... This is how you remix a track folks.

On the flip side we have 'Make Me', a much more bouncier affair than the A side, with a thunderous kick and bass combo. Kaveesh has crafter a real house roller here which bridges the gap between the old house aesthetics and new deep house instrumentation. The Italian duo of Nick Morris and Dave Scott are enlisted to remix 'Make Me'. The remix is reminiscent of Kerri Chandler in his pomp. Stripped back to a shuffling drum pattern and bouncing bass line, the Sicilian's layer a house organ on top which really 'completes' the track... kind of like a chef adding the 'secret' ingredient to their recipe.

George Fitzgerald - I Can Tell (by The Way You Move)

With previous releases on influential labels Hotflush, Aus and Hypercolour, George FitzGerald has joined a new home, signing to Domino offshoot Double Six. Kicking off his inauguration is new single 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)', a house cut which set the 7,000+ strong crowd at Ushuaia in Ibiza moving last week as he went back to back with Radio 1's Pete Tong, a relationship that kicked off earlier this year with George's Radio 1 Essential Mix. 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' is available digitally through BeatPort now.

The video for 'I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)' follows a group of hedonistic teenagers roaming the streets of George's adopted hometown, Berlin, to the backdrop of George's infectious rhythms threaded throughout the track. Directed by Alex Southam, the man behind videos for Alt-J, Laura Mvula and Liane La Havas, you can watch the video HERE.

A remix package featuring mixes from Breach, responsible for the aptly titled summer club smash 'Jack', and a remix from Paul Woolford, will be available from the 30th of Sept. Further details to follow shortly.

George continues to play throughout the summer and has started work on his debut album due for release in 2014 through Double Six, where he joins such luminaries as Jon Hopkins and John Cale as part of the extended Domino family. Fitting company for a producer who is destined to be a career artist dedicated to perfecting his craft and raising the bar for his contemporaries.

Phoenix Knight - La Premier Ep

Phoenix Knight was born in May 1992 at the infamous Castlemorton free festival slap bang in the middle of Digs & Woosh's now legendary set on the DiY Soundsystem.

Hand reared on Strictly Rhythm and Henry Street joints specially imported from the US East Coast, he soon became well acquainted with the skippy high hats, offbeat snares and wailing vocals of the emerging nineties Deep House sound.

After settling in the UK's musical answer to Chicago...Nottingham, he spent the next few years of his childhood being dragged around many of the area's underground house events in quarries, fields, moors and warehouses staged by free party warriors Smokescreen, Spoof, Giddy Fruit, Quadrant and many others.

However, after consuming far too many party cabbages, a group of local house producers decided that an intervention was necessary, placing young Phoenix in a stasis, of which he only reappeared from recently.

Upon his reawaking, Phoenix was under house arrest, with his only company being some classic house tools of the trade. The SP1200, TR909, S3000XL, Juno 106, and JV1080 may or may not have been used during the creation of his subsequent works, produced during this period of enforced captivity.

Subb-an - Rain

Subb-An

Rain

Vision Quest
06.03.2013

The mighty Visionquest get set to release the highly anticipated 'Rain' from young shining star Subb-an. A monster of a release, the A-side features the haunting vocals of Visionquest favourites Footprintz, while the B-side welcomes a collaboration with Holland's Tom Trago featuring label co-founder and No.1 Seth Troxler on vocals. Released as a digital only, Subban's partner in crime Adam Shelton steps in for remix duty and rounds of what is undoubtedly set to be a special release for all involved.
Having spent the last few years paving out his distinctive driving style with huge releases on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Culprit, Spectral Sound and his own One Records, it may come as a surprise that for the A-side of the release Subb-an steps into new territory to deliver a truly mesmerising slice of modern electronica on a closer tip to his recent remixes of Lana Del Ray and Jamie Woon. Written over a year ago and feeling that 'Rain' was a really special track, there was much deliberation over finding the perfect vocalist. With previous smash hit releases on the label and a debut album on the way, the idea of Footprintz materialised and everything simply fell into place. Captivating synths glide across a bed of dreamy deep chords and subtle percussive passages, while the signature sound of the haunting Footprintz vocals swirl through the deeper vortex. Keeping things tight within the family, label partner and best friend Adam Shelton delivers a stunning remix of 'Rain' to be released as a digital only.

On the flip the talented producer teams up with Rush Hour favourite Tom Trago to unleash the powerful 'Time'. The track was born through a bond that formed when Trago was asked to remix one of Subb-an's first big releases, 'What I Do' on Culprit LA. Becoming friends the pair soon found their way into the studio to master up a dance floor weapon that is highly sophisticated and intricate in production, building with tension and suspense as hypnotic waves are thrown into the equation. The thought provoking vocals spoken by Seth Troxler send the track into new dimension and with these three heavy weights involved; it's set to be a big one.
The past few years have seen a rapid rise to fame for the Birmingham bred Subb-an and with this monumental release and huge plans in place for the coming year including the 10 Years Of Crosstown World Tour and a debut artist album, there's no hiding the fact that Subb-an's stardom will continue to soar.

Madhouse
29.05.2015

Luigi Giomini and Massimiliano Miele aka Marsupials have come a long way since their debut on Seven Music in late 2014, delivering a string of original content since via the likes of Large Music Scucci Manucci, Dabit, and Black Key Records. Here, the duo push on by joining the roster of Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records yet another substantial step forward for the rising duo.

Title cut 'Gotta Get You' kicks things off and sees Giomini and Miele provide an atmospheric deep house workout with crunchy rhythms, stirring pad lines, wandering stab sequences and weighty doses of sub bass.

'Quilb' follows and takes things into deeper realms with a loose rhythmic swing, bubbling background synth tones and dubby chord hits, while closing piece 'Hot Donuts' rounds off the package on a gritty stripped back tip laying the focus on weighty drums and soaring chord progressions. Marsupials offer up something both classic and elegant with the 'Gotta Get You' EP making it a perfect fit for the Madhouse catalogue..

Dj Yellow & Flowers And Sea Creatures - Compost Black Label 105

Massive! The Konstantin Sibold Remix is already supported by Agoria, Dixon,
e, Tale of Us, Scuba, Tensnake, Wankelmut, Kyodai and a few others. It
has just entered the DMC Buzz Charts on #2!. The originals and the Simon
Garcia remix are also top notch. Later this year Compost Black will release
another Konstantin Sibold remix of the other track As Goes The Sun.

DJ Yellows real name Alain Ho has been around for ages. When he met Chris
(Bob Sinclar) in the early 90's during a night out, things took a turn.
They started their label Yellow Productions in 1993, to critical acclaim.
An underground label at first, it was perhaps Yellow's search for
personality and his ear for quality that opened the door to a colourful
palette of signings, that included artists as diverse as Dimitri From
Paris, Kid Loco, Bang Bang, Joe Claussel, Salome de Bahia and of course Bob
Sinclar himself, all of which have helped to shape the French sound, as it
is today. After a decade of fruitful cooperation and dedication to helping
other people's careers, Yellow finally decided to begin Poussez Music in
2003, as an outlet for his own sounds, and that of his close friends,
including King Britt, Kenny Larkin, and Josh Wink, amongst others. The
label has shone more than ever in 2007. Through three projects, Alienation
(instrumental), Intermission (vocals) and Paule (non-dance), Yellow has
created a wide canvas to push his diverse sounds and inspirations into the
world. After six hypnotizing Alienation releases through Poussez, Yellow
completes the series in 2007 with a grand finale through invitations on
Plastic City, Josh Wink's respected Ovum Records, the prestigious Morrison
Recordings, Slipen Side Records, Ibadan Records and Deep Focus, featuring
a special rework from no other than Deep Dish's Dubfire.

Montreal's Flowers And Sea Creatures have been building a formidable
reputation since their debut EP 'Test Pressing' in September 2010. Together
with the follow-up 'A.M' in Feb 2011 and their full release album in 2011,
they have been turning some serious heads in both the electronic
underground and the alt-rock overground. They deliver a deeply atmospheric
and cinematic sound - Graham Baxter's vocals and crystalline acoustic
guitars riding over Kosta Megalos' atmospheric synth work. Baxter was born
in Belfast and Megalos was born in Athens and both immigrated to Montreal
with their respective families in their youth. The two met in the 1990s and
they started writing together and playing the local bar scene while always
working away at writing their blend of acoustic and electronic original
music. Record deals nearly came and mostly went and it was in the early
2000s that the duo began in earnest writing the exploratory music that
would become Flowers And Sea Creatures staple. Baxter had decided drop the
vocals in favour of their new instrumental direction. Ironically however,
it was an instrumental track that caught the ear of Buzzin' Fly label boss,
Ben Watt but Watt, although impressed with the music, thought the track
needed a vocal. Ultimately Baxter sang on the track leading to their
signing with BuzzinFly. To date the duo have collaborated with Ewan
Pearson, Fred Everything, The Revenge and Ytre Rymden
Dansskola.Inspirations include Chet Baker, Bowie, BjEverything But The
Girl, Giorgio Moroder, The Art of Noise, Kraftwerk, The Cure.

From the city of rising sun Miruga makes an elegant, jazzy and groovy awesome track. And from Spain two deep house masters . On the one hand Jesus Gonsev brings a tasty bass and juicy string. Raffaello & Palermo - The Spirit

Raffaello & Palermo is the union of two friends and old LPH brothers, Damon Palermo, a.k.a. Magic Touch, and Raphae¨l Valensi, a.k.a. Laura Ingalls. Palermo's an Angeleno who came up in the Bay Area scene of the mid-aughts and Valensi's a Frenchman dwelling in Shanghai, perhaps best known for his work as the Horses, a duo comprised of him and Cle´ment Pony.
So there's the backstory. What's actually on this slab of wax, though
Four chunky anthems that nimbly weave ravey mayhem into filter house and disco edits, sometimes touching on almost psychedelic trance-like tropes. If you don't hear one of these out every weekend night this summer, you're going to the wrong parties.

Dj Boom (aka Herbert) - Kinda Kickin' (incl. Efdemin Remix)

It's been a while since we did something on our subdivision Petite. You know, this is where we like to re-release those forgotten pearls, with a new remix on the flip.
This time we chose for Kinda Kickin' by DJ Boom, which is in fact a collaboration between Matthew Herbert and Charles Webster. The original vinyl goes for over 110eur on Discogs and is a longtime favourite of ours. We heard Move D play it at a festival this summer, but strangely enough not too many other people seem to know about this house gem.
On remix duties this time someone very close to the label (and our hearts) since the first collaboration in 2007 for 'Acid Bells'. Efdemin recently delivered what is maybe his best album to date and also this remix for Kinda Kickin' is absolutely superb. Enjoy.

Slow Town Records has really picked up the pace this year, delivering essential 12" singles from Riccio and QX-I, amongst others. Here, they round of 2014 with an EP of positively edible deep house from Fouk man Hans Peeman. In typical Peeman fashion, there's plenty of soul to the liquid beats and rich chords of "Prologue", while "Monologue" is an attractive saunter through classic Detroit deep house with the restless energy of a Chicago production. MR K-S remixes the title track, delivering a heavily percussive version that sounds like a plea to head towards the dancefloor, pronto. A touch darker and altogether heavier, it offers an excellent alternative to Peeman's eyes-wide-shut original.

Chris "Bam Bam" Westbrook is one of the unsung heroes of Chicago House. His Westbrook label was responsible for releasing a slew of quality records from artists like Armando & Mike Dunn as well as his own productions.

One record that mysteriously never officially came out on the label was "Hot Spot" from 1987, never making it past White label stage. Here, for the very first time, "Hot Spot" finally gets a full release boasting all 4 alternate mixes of the track by the man himself.

Suggestive lyrics, chattering drum machine rhythms and uplifting pianos in the classic raw Chicago style are what makes "Hot Spot" a special re-issue. Harking back to a headier time, the record still slams hard today and shows contemporary producers how House music should really be done. A long lost, un-released nugget from the old school, re-mastered from the original DAT and officially released for the first time with original Westbrook label artwork in conjunction with Bam Bam / Westbrook Records, Chicago USA.

The Little Black Book gets inside the artists' minds and looks to the future and what's to come.

For the second edition of Little Black Book, the reigns have been handed to the prolific and much loved Groove Armada. From early inspiration courtesy of 90's rave collective DiY to the worldwide success of six albums, long summers in Ibiza and global live tours - with such a storied history, it's hard to image where they'd even begin with a project like this. The boys brought the curtain down on their live tours at Brixton in 2010 because they wanted to go back to basics, House music and the warehouses where GA started - cue a series of releases on labels from Hypercolour to Hot Creations.

The mix on CD1 Groove Armada seven new original pieces of music as part of a 77 minute journey that also includes Tony Allen, Candi Staton, re-edits of a host of GA classics and their rework of Arthur Baker anthem, Rockers Revenge.

The second disc then sees 12 excellent producers redefine classic Groove Armada records, resulting in some spectacular new versions of tracks like 'Love Sweet Sound', 'Superstylin', 'Chicago' and 'I See You Baby' from the likes of Kolsch, andhim, Huxley, Jaymo& Andy George, JorisVoorn, PillowTalk, Emperor Machine, Marco Faraone, Chaim, Hauswerks, Walker & Royce and wAFF.

Included in the special notebook version of the release is Andy Cato's account of the GA journey from Castlemorton to L.A too - one that has taken them right back to the start. "People were saying if you're going to write new material you need to put it out on a major, get the band back together, unleash the machine. But we don't want to do that. We want to play and make house music, and that's all'.
