Two years after his stunning debut "Here Today Gone Tomorrow", Fritz Kalkbrenner takes the next huge step in his career with his second album "Sick Travellin". Coming hot on the heels of his "Suol Mates" compilation in March, a mixtape infused with an eclectic variety of genres - from soul to funk, from hip hop to house, Fritz now takes all these influences and ideas, fusing them together to a sound that is ever so powerful and distinctively his own.
The thirteen tracks on the new LP, produced in the only recently finished Suol-Studios in Berlin Kreuzberg, have a more organic, mature sound than those on the debut. More vocals, more live instruments like Rhodes, Bass and Guitar, recorded by some of the best studio musicians around, and Fritz's trademark grainy, "breathing" samples. Basically, a whole lot of Suol! Pardon me: Soul.
"Sick Travellin" playfully guides the listener from bittersweet melancholy and classical songwriting to loose, dreamy dancefloor moments. Vocal tracks like "Get A Life", "Little By Little", "No Peace Of Mind" and last but definitely not least, his cover version of Gil Scott-Heron's "Willing" (recorded in the same session as Fritz's Bill Withers cover "Ruby Lee" for the Suol Mates compilation) once again showcase Fritz Kalkbrenner's extraordinary talent as a vocalist and his incredible gift for embedding pop songs into beautifully crafted house music frames.
But that's not all: the albums more forward tunes like "Square Heart", "Monte Rosa" or the club anthem "Hummin' Hills" will trigger waves of euphoria on the dancefloors all around the globe.
The limited deluxe edition of the CD album comes with a bonus track and 6 page digipac. Both CD versions include a 12 page poster booklet. The double vinyl is beautifully packaged in a 4 page gatefold sleeve.

Robot Ranch Records 007 does not relate to James Bond but Ugur Project from Istanbul has truly the licence for killertracks. The ep including four tracks, a grabbing quartet of electronic timelessness, wich can rarely be found in such concentrated form within the ocean of today releases. One definitely will hear , that Ugur Project is living his music with each breath. This, considering his huge number of releases also with other labels, makes this ep to something special. Side A starts with Make This Happen - the eponym of this ep. This minimal house track will definitely left deep marks on the dancefloor. It is followed by People Circulate, wich with it´s minimal context and lightly tendency to melancholy is well suited for warm ups and set closings after days and nights of dancing. Sketches Of A Circuit, a classic house track works dignified with some old elements and creates a brilliant athmosphere with its clicks and cuts. Additionaly, countless voices in the background pretend a full dancefloor. It really is a track to float on and will make the audience take up the invitation to 'dance'. The ep is concluded by Society Failure, is a strong and charming piece of dub techno uniting 'every kind of music and every kind of taste'. ;)

Taverna Tracks have tapped rising star John Dimas (One Records, La Vie En Rose) for their second release.
The first cut "Life on Mars" kicks off with some dirty swinging snares and hi hats, borrowing some influence from the late 90's.
On "High Motions" rolling beats break and dreamy pads peak in and out while the bass rolls nicely over the bottom end of the track.
As if this package wasn't complete the new label has saved the best for last. As a special treat they have enlisted the legendary Point G to lend his talents to remix "High Motions", which takes the package to the next level. The mix is a deep, rolling trippy peak hour track, perfect for adding action to the dancefloor.

Three formidable names from the electronic deep/techno scene combine on this sumptuous new EP for the burgeoning Jesus Was Black imprint. In various combinations, Maris, Egal 3 and Philipp Ort have previously collaborated on labels like KdMusic, Cadenza, WrongState, Affin, Flappers, Baccara, EDEC.. Danse Club label bosses Scott & Austen Smart AKA Brodanse unleash their second release on the label, the 'The Ride'' featuring vocals from Cari Golden. The release kicks off with the Original version of 'Nobody Walks', a tough and grooving slice of vocal house that employs a simple bass and piano chord groove to provide the soundbed for Cari Golden's distinctive vocals. Next up is the vinyl only Dub version of Nobody Walks, a slight re-arrangement and sparse delayed vocals snippets make a version more for the heads.Turning the record over will show you a darker side to the Brodanse signature groove. The B1, In The House is a solid rolling tech house banger, this track is definitely a tool for a club floor wanting to push the envelope. The B2, Reactivate is a dark, rolling DBX/Radio Slave inspired take on tech house, using filtered chords, deep sine bass, 909 rides and eery vocals.

Na, mit Kaytronik hat sich das Label R2 aber mal einen dicken Fisch geangelt. Kaytronik ist gewissermaßen das Alter Ego von Kris Klayton aka Karizma. Der 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland, geborene Produzent und DJ ist bekannt für eine große Bandbreite vielfältiger Veröffentlichungen, die von Deep House und Techno über Jazz bis Hip-Hop und Broken Beats reichen. Stilistische Grenzen sind nicht so sein Ding, Hauptsache das Ganze hat Groove. Sein Alias Kaytronik hat sich Klayton bislang für Remix-Arbeiten fremder und ausgesuchter eigener Produktionen reserviert. Dieses gestatte ihm größere musikalische Freiheiten, wie er selbst betont, und dadurch mehr Ausdrucksstärke und Leidenschaft. Dass die Ergebnisse dennoch eine eindeutige künstlerische Handschrift tragen und von einer berührend-emotionalen Klammer gehalten werden, stellt "Thee Album" unter Beweis. Hierauf erkundet Kaytronik zwischen laszivem Feierabend-Downbeat und Peaktime-Dancefloor-Brett den ganzen Reichtum elektronischer Klangwelten. Kategorisieren lässt sich das Album nicht, aber es klingt famos.

Der Berliner Musiker Klaus Schulze ist einer der bedeutendsten Elektronik-Künstler Deutschlands. Bevor er 1972 seine Solokarriere mit "Irrlicht" startete, war Schulze Schlagzeuger bei der Krautrockband Tangerine Dream. Sein Debüt trug den Untertitel "Quadrophonische Symphonie für Orchester und E-Maschinen". Und tatsächlich sind bei den Stücken auch Orchesterklänge zu hören. Heute weiß man, dass diese vom Colloquium Musica Orchester stammen, einem richtigen klassischen Orchester. Für die Erstveröffentlichung musste sich Schulze einst verpflichten, den Orchesternamen geheim zu halten. Er war einfach zu einer derer Proben gegangen, hatte 30 Minuten mitgeschnitten und dann die Aufnahmen für seine Tracks verfremdet. Wie Schulze anlässlich des Re-Release berichtete, hat "Irrlicht" mehr mit der Musique concrète zu tun als mit heutiger Elektronik. "Ich hatte damals auch noch keinen Synthesizer", so Schulze. Und weiter: "Ich besaß einen defekten Verstärker, den ich kurzgeschlossen hatte, und der auch nur diese eine Platte durchgehalten hat. Wenn man den Volumen-Regler aufdrehte, machte er ein internes Feedback, einen Sinus, und mit dem Tremelo habe ich ihn zwitschern lassen. An den Rückkopplungen ist er kaputtgegangen. Auch die Orgel hatte ich modifiziert, damit sie nicht nach einer normalen Orgel klang."

Klein klopft, scharrt, kratzt und zupft - das Bearbeiten von Holzkorpus und Stahlseiten sind die Bausteine eines weit gefassten Klangspektrums, das er später im Sampler gegen den Strich bürstet. Alle verfremdeten Patterns und Sequenzen dürfen anschließend auf dem typischen SølystSchlagwerk-Groove tanzen und verschmelzen mit ihm zu einem hypnotisch treibenden Maschinenfunk. Dabei folgt Sølyst keinem Muster oder einer Chronologie. Der programmatisch gewählte Albumtitel verweist auf einen imaginären Überbau, der versucht, eine in Klang und Grooves gegossene Studie von Abnutzung und Gebrauchsspuren widerzuspiegeln. Die Musik ist durchsetzt von Zeitspuren wie Staub, Patina und Rost aus der Welt der Maschinen und ihrem Zusammenspiel und Ineinandergreifen von mechanischen Bauteilen wie Zahnrädern und Kolben. Have It Like That kicks things off with a chugging, hypnotic feel and crisp drums providing the basis for a cool vocal hook and thick, warm bass. No Time gets a shade deeper and no less funky, while Get To This points a little further towards the center of the dance floor.
