Superb double A-sided 12' from TEC Records, reissuing two of the rarest and most sought-after tracks ever released on the tiny US disco label. First up is super-funky Cosmic groover 'J'Ouvert', from John Gibbs with The Jam Band, As you'd expect from the title, this track has more than a nod to Carnival a with tropical feel and traditional steel drums but in a weird spaced-out disco arrangement that made this a favourite at David Mancuso's infamous Loft as well as on the afro-funky scene. On the flip, we have the mighty 'Freakin' Time' from MFSB and Salsoul Orchestra rhythm maestro Keith Benson. Originally split into Parts 1 and 2 and released on 2 sides of a 7' and 12', here the two tracks are seamlessly edited together for maximum long-playing dancefloor impact. With heavy hypnotic drums, sexy vocals, dirty grooving bass, this is a real must-have. Great chance to get your hands on two disco funk masterpieces!

DJ Mag Top 100 Poll returns in October 2014 with another outstanding line up. 2014 has been a fantastic year for dance music, with lots of fresh faces breaking through. Ministry of Sound and DJ Mag have proudly joined forces for the 3rd year running with a superb 2CD release including a selection of the Top 100 of 2014 across two CDs.

With the successful release of the 2013 edition, it is no surprise the largest dance music magazine has continued to collaborate with Ministry of Sound, the largest dance music label and internationally renowned club, to bring you an album packed with the world's biggest names and hottest club tracks - set for release on the 20th October.

CD 1 features the current leading names in the electronic dance music scene including Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Hardwell, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, NERVO, deadmau5, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

CD 2 includes iconic acts that have pioneered trance and progressive house such as Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery, Orjan Nilsen, Dash Berlin, Markus Schulz and Cosmic Gate to name but a few.

To tie in with the album, DJ Mag are hosting the official Top 100 DJs poll announcement party at both Amsterdam's infamous ADE and in London in association at Brixton Academy on the 18th October - just in time for the release of the DJ Mag Top 100 2014 released the following day. While many labels take it easy during the summer, lounging by the pool and getting a tan, we're doubling down with the soundtrack to a heavy night bathed only in strobe lights. For our latest release, the aptly named 'Freaks'/'Yeah' EP we've recruited UK legend Richard Norris to lead our latest foray into the darkest and sweatiest corners of the weekend

Best known for his contributions to storied projects like Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve (with Erol Alkan) and the Grid (with Dave Ball), to say nothing of his cosmic disco project, The Time and Space Machine, Norris here is sailing alias-free for the very first time.

As efficient as they are simple, the aptly named 'Freaks' and 'Yeah' are to the point, post midnight analog jams, what Norris calls basement filth. Three superb remixes complete the EP: The Hardway Bros make their second appearance on TOB with a storming version of 'Freaks,' dragging the original into Belgian new beat territory. Boot & Tax's Brioski also reworks 'Yeah' into a shuddering polyrhythmic chugger. Rounding out the EP is one of our all time favorites, the one-and-only Ivan Smagghe, who turns in a mind-bending 8 minute version of 'Freaks' that trades much of Norris's signature filth for 60's-era organs and hair grease

New alias for Richard Gateaux (Aka Phoreski) dropping two essential jams for the Soft Rocks boys on their Kinfolk imprint. 'This Devil Can Dance' is a scary anthemic electronic dance monster from the left that will slay many a dance floor this year and has legend written all over it. Add to the mix the downtempo delight 'Lone Soldier Theme' that takes a different electronic route with it's echoes of 'Assault On Precinct 13' / 'Escape From New York' filmic vibe this makes for an essential package.

Rock the box is a hand picked selection of grooves to shake a stick at. Inkswel and Benny Badge asked their homies for a taste of the finest. Deep soul grooves, lo fi house and 80s funk in its purest form.

Faze Action present their first 12" single from their new LP "Prisoner of Your Love", Including the outstanding 808 infused mix from Eric Duncan (Rub n'Tug).Eric has been showcasing the mix in his recent sets with DJ Harvey causing a stir on dance floors and its sure to feature in many a festival set this summer.

Jamie Paton. Ever since the first white labels appeared at the end of Summer 2013, (Emotional) Especial has been busy putting out music that are their own warped take on club music. Mixing the
influences of dub, electro, disco, proto-house, house and techno, a sound appeared without any preordained plan.
To celebrate the end of the first series of releases come EES10CD - a DJ meets studio compilation mix created by label artist, remixer and even in-house designer, Jamie Paton.
Freaturing tracks from every EP, including two unreleased remixes are the tight productions of Richard Sen, the wiggle of Scott Fraser, deep, chugging Cage & Aviary dubs, the Eastern
influences of Baris K and newcomers Khidja, the quirky discoid wonk of Maurice & Charles and finally not forgetting of course, the stand out Timothy J Fairplay touches. Whether
alongside Mr Weatherall, Andy Blake or in solo remix mode, young "Junior"s skills (and name) grows and grows.
All this is perfectly put together by Jamie Paton, the man who launched the label with his Bizarre Feeling EP. As well as the inclusion of several unreleased cuts, Jamie has edited the
"selection", adding live studio dubbing, FX and the odd mega-mix to make it truly (E)special.

Having a debut that managed to possibly be the most regularly outed track by Andrew Weatherall as he dug deep to discover the sound that resonated as A Love From Outer Space, while at the same time seemingly slipping under the radar of practically everyone else and disappear in to relative cult obscurity is some mean feet. Unperturbed that the odd(disco)ball that was the acidic genius of Morodor In Milan was shamefully overlooked, Maurice & Charles have again taken time out from their daytime media and art enriched lives to hunker down and offer up another take on their twisted idea of what makes people groove. In Sofa Love, their ode to the marvels and pitfalls of the mega-city, bubbling 303 again underpins a twisted lyrical journey. Set against crashing percussion, this is their peaen to la Metropole. Ably supporting is a driving, rhythmic workout from our own Jamie Paton, taking the original and stripping everything back to jack like it should. If that frightens off the less adventurous, then I,Carpenter will perhaps offer a respite. An off-kilter, acid-funk nod to the experimentations of Eno & Byrne, this quirky gem makes you wonder, why did no-one use that sample before To end comes a solo debut from Soft Rock's Piers Harrison. His drum heavy remix straightens things up and lets the story unfold.

VIARE is a 12" compilation featuring 4 distinct tracks, each occupying their own wildly unique sub-genre of the house experience. "Virgo Cluster" by Jonas Reinhardt fuses elements of cosmic disco and krautrock into a live transcendental package, with amazing guitar work by Phil Manley (Trans Am/Life Coach). "Seven Miles Down" from London's Timothy J. Fairplay (The Asphodells) is a testament to Zombie Horror Cinema, featuring a pulsing dub-house beat that dives into cavernous sonic territory. Maestro is Tigersushi's new gem discovery. Not exactly new actually since they already released a 12inch and a 7inch in 2012, but they now have finished a full length debut LP and are ready to make a lot of noise on a rather quiet French scene when it comes to indie electronic pop with healthy doses of industrial weirdness and dance patterns. They are not exactly french either if you look closely but an unusual French/Scottish duo composed of Mark Kerr (the beast) and Fred Soulard (the machinist). On the flip side, Krikor revives the industrial filthy groove of Maestro's heros Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey. Dark and sexy.

Four discerning tracks from Stupid Human & Space:tricks channeling the east, west and central Africa. Zaire is a bonafide classic in the making and were told is NOT an edit. The making of this track called on vintage outboard and analogue mix down processes to get that out of the box sound, circa 78. Mr Human then visits Trinidad for a humorous off kilter meltdown of a track that references all the good stuff from the caribbean islands. Sounding like Terje and Fela locked in a studio with a cabal of crazy percussionists. Space:tricks delivers a mystical tabla and bongo inspired psychedelic hustle, that trips you out into a haze of opium smoke round India, he follows that up with an even trippier journey through some back street shisha dens in Istanbul - all in all a killer EP

After the acclaimed debut release earlier this year by Belfast wonderboy Maricopa, the second release on fledgling imprint Fools & Fables (rumoured to be loosely affiliated to the Sleazy Beats crew) welcomes Closed Paradise to the manifest.

The French producer offers up some of his finest work to date for FF02 with two lovely chilled out, balearo-beatdown cuts to ease you into the summer season.
'Jungle Goddess' on the A ventures down to the centre of the earth with its sub-100 BPM tempo. A constant and steady builder, Jungle Goddess weaves its way through deep, dark and seriously pitched-down house territory, being carried by off-kilter keys and seemingly random guitar notes throughout before a dreamy male vocal sparks up and takes things home.

Flip over for 'Get Your Bearings', where Closed Paradise brings things down with spaced out drums and soft pads amidst earthy tones that render the track next to perfect for those blissed-out sets that call for nothing more from an audience than sipping umbrella-boat drinks while watching an Adriatic sunset.

Following his 2013 releases for Hivern and Major Problems and remixes for The XX and Mano Le Tough, Dublin producer New Jackson steps into 2014 with a full flex EP for Germany's Permanent Vacation. The four-tracker moves from his signature vocoder-led house bump through spectral boogie, Detroit-leaning melancholia and upbuilding wrong'un dancefloor moves. This new track from Akabu features the soaring neo soul croons of Alex Mills (who you might recognize from Miguel Campbell's 'Something Special').

The Joey Negro Strip Mix is unashamedly feel-good with its bouncing, skewed and spraying synths and driving bassline, with pristine production putting many

Almost 5 years after his previous album 'Horror Disco' (which was a concept album drawing connections between Italian '70s and '80s giallo and horror movies soundtracks and disco music) Bottin is back with a stunning new full length opus. Entitled 'Punica Fides' the album was made during sessions in Venice, Rome, Berlin and Ibiza.

Releasing on labels like Italians Do It better, Nang and Z records, Bottin has made a reputation for himself as a fine craftsmen who really knows his musical history and has a true passion for soundtracks. This new album, his third in a career that dates back more than a decade, was made using a ton of synthesisers, guitars, FX machines and with the help of some standout vocal collaborators.

According to the artist, 'Punica Fides is a Roman expression that means "treachery". The concept behind the album (made clear in the song titles) is manipulation, falsehood, seduction (and the will to be seduced knowing it's a lie), propaganda but also parody and satire. I think music (and especially dance music) is always also a parody. A dance track is a parody of itself and of other tracks that came before it. The album is not as soundtrack and nostalgic as Horror Disco was, I think this is a musically diverse album which ranges from synth-house, dark electronica, neo-new-wave dystopian landscapes, space disco and Italo disco. I suppose it's more of a dance record, which reflect the past 5-6 year touring the world as a DJ, as well as the will of creating my own musical bubble.'

The album opens in spiky fashion with the raw drums and serrated synths of 'Lies' coming over like a shimmering deep disco jam. Many styles are explored from there on in with 'Flow Of Persuasion' being a fast paced, melodically rich house cut that is stuff with analogue lines and oozes psychedelic charm.

Next up is the fantastic 'Poison' with Steve Strange (lead singer of Visage and co-founder of the Blitz Club which set the New Romantic template for the music and style of the 80s) which cuts a fine form with its squelchy synthesized basslines, pop leaning vocals and brightly coloured keys. Mid way through the album comes the frazzled synths and steel drum charm of 'Lust for Deception', a raucous and ravey disco cut of sheer pleasure.

'All For One' is another dazzling jam shot through with laser synths, arpeggiated lines and robotic vocals that sound like Kraftwerk on acid. Every new track seems even more fun and colourful that the last and the album as a whole leaves you feeling hugely energised, happy and very much alive. The closer is a reprise of 'Lies' with vocals from Lavinia Claws that comes straight from some intergalactic disco party it's so spangled and sugary.

Fans of Todd Terje, Pachanga Boys and all Bottin's previous work will no doubt fall madly in love with this beautifully crafted and sensuously shiny electronic album.

6 months after we first ventured into vinyl territory we're back with a new EP. The follow up to Kastil's ''Dusty Edits'' is a sampler containing 4 tracks by 3 artists we are heavily supporting at the moment. The A1 is again by Basque county based 'Kastil'. She's back is a wonderful sample drenched house track containing soul touching vocals. Definitely one for the dancefloor. On the A2 we have ''Doctor Bills' by fellow Rotterdam native ''Ben La Desh'' this is actually his first release out of many to come. This track has been circulating the soundcloud for a few months and was played by OOFT! in one of his excellent podcasts. On the flip we find two tracks by Taiko Mochi name: ''Tomas Malo''. While the B1 ''Scenesters'' is a great more uptempo disco house track with quite an emotive break it's the B2 slomo track ''Shelter'' that has been stealing the show until now. If you're in to real slow and mesmerizing music this might just be the one for you.

We are glad to welcome two gladiators of the slow-house game to our comfortable little home. Behling and Simpson have turned quite some heads over the last year with great efforts on their homelabel Futureboogie Recordings and Bristol based Applepips. With their recognizable slow but jacking sound they have now come up with a mesmerizing 3 track counting EP which covers different sides of their varying flavours. ''The Vaults'' will definitely
appeal to house music lovers worldwide, we have even got a little acid touch to close it down. A very special digital remix pack which will feature Rotterdam based ''Last Mood'' and hotshot of the moment Ejeca.

Such is the importance of Russell's contribution to the modern music scene that many consider his work to be untouchable but several modern day producers have carefully picked out key elements of his songs whilst recording entirely new and up to date soundtracks. Yam Who, Faze Action, singer Mary Moore, NYC's Pocketknife have worked hard to create entirely new instruments and vocals with additional remix work coming from Radio Slave.

In addition Peter Gordon who worked with Arthur Russell on many of the original releases has collaborated; adding his musicianship to the newly created cover of 'Go Bang'. Further collaborations from Arthur's friends and musicians, Steven Hall & Joyce Kirby, also provide a new version of 'Lucky Cloud' which is produced by NYC's Pocketknife.

After inaugurating the Visionquest label with the now canonical 'Where The Freaks Have No Name'--an EP whose A-side anthem, 'Walk and Talk,' inundated the dance music world with a lovelorn soulfulness--Benoit & Sergio return to the throne of Visionquest with 'New Ships,' the more beautiful younger sister to their debut.
The opening track to the EP, 'Lipstick & Lace,' bounces along on a rubber-ball bassline and artfully selected percussive details before a dexterous vocal line about unfamiliar places adds a melancholic counterweight to the effervescence of the groove. Truncated piano chords and a mammoth synth hook, which fades into the song's second half, elevate the track into pop magic party-mode.
