Hello Sailor Recordings third release features Esa 'Brazilian Remakes'London based South African Esa Mervin Granger is part of a unique breed of talent emerging on the electronic music scene. Drawing influences from his roots but firmly looking towards the future, Esa embodies a sound without limitations.
Esa has developed a distinct yet and expansive musical identity. A regular at many of the best underground parties, venues and festivals across the UK and Europe, Esa has also carved out a niche curating electronic music-focused educational programmes in Cuba, East Africa and South Africa which forms part of the Highlife World Series project. Continuing to further his knowledge and share his skills inspiring enthusiastic DJ's and producers around the world.
After a trip to Brazil in late 2015, Esa had the opportunity to meet some inspiring young Brazilian DJ's / producers, notably Dani Souto, Carrot Green & Millos of Selvagem who introduced him to the Cel-Som record store in downtown Sao Paulo, it was here that Esa discovered some of the legacy artist such as Zeze Motta, Tribo Massahi and Tim Maia which were the source of inspiration for these two remakes, the first from legendary Tim Maia, 'Que Beleza' with new arrangements and elements was given beautiful percussion and fresh spacey atmosphere, quite transcendental and pleasant to the ears.
Sandra Sa, 'Trem do Central' delivers a more DJ / Dance floor friendly version with filtered samples, a funky bassline and detuned chords.Both remakes celebrate the respected artist and their great music.

Trevor Jackson has been working at the forefront of audio and visual culture for over 20 years. The London based Creative Director, moving-image maker, producer and DJ's work includes countless classic record covers, and has been exhibited at prestigious international galleries/museums like the ICA, the Barbican, and the Guggenheim. Jackson's iconic Output Recordings label ran from 1996-2006 and helped launch the careers of Four Tet and LCD Soundsystem. Trevor released a classic 'DJ Kicks' album, for !K7 and remixed artists as diverse as Metronomy, Massive Attack, U2, The Cure, Tiga, Run DMC, Soft Cell and Dinos Chapman. He's created award-winning artwork for Soulwax, been commissioned to create audio visual works for major brands like BMW, Lexus and Coca Cola, and continues to work as an art director, designer and film maker - most recently for XL recordings signing POWELL and US major league beat-maker Clams Casino.PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED' follows the success of last year's multi-edition album release 'F O R M A T' via The Vinyl Factory, media praise his 'Science Fiction Dancehall Classics' On-U Sound compilation, and the 'Metal Dance' series for Strut.

Balearica brings the quality yet again with another stunning selection of unearthed eclectic gems. First up is one of the the all-time Balearic/Cosmic classics, the highly sought-after 'I Love You Dancer' from French disco group Voyage, a wonderfully funky floor-filling paean to 'fancy dancers and sweet romancers' - total killer! Followed by the dreamy instrumental version of Italian crooner Vasco Rossi's 'Una Splendida Giornata', a beautiful sweeping slo-mo chugger. Another instrumental opens the B-side, this time Fonda Rae's in-demand dub of 'Heobah' with its relentless tripped-out synth groove. And lastly we have Michael Cretu's little-known Cosmic delight 'Flying To Heaven', a glorious slice of laid-back pop paradise hidden away on the B-side of a super-rare 1978 Italian 12'. Essential collection for lovers of the Balearic sound.

Another great collection of sought-after Balearic goodies all loud-pressed on 12' vinyl. First up is the highly in-demand instrumental version of 'Un Fe Divers Rien De Plus' by French one-hit wonders Le Club, a bassy synth-disco gem that hit big across the pond at clubs such as Paradise Garage as well as on the Med. Followed by 'Africa, Brasil Te Ama', a little-known disco-funk gem plucked from a 1980 LP by Spanish-based Brazilian Jayme Marques. Flip over for 'B-Cause', the seminal deep house cut from 1987 by Jump St. Man. Only ever released on a compilation LP, this Johnathan Mann-production is a truly beautiful haunting piece of house history with a slow tempo, rolling undulated synths provided by Marshall Jefferson and a cool atmosphere that fit perfectly into the Balearic ethos. Lastly is the hypnotic dirty slow-burning groove of the rare long version of pop queen Kim Carnes' 1981 hit 'Draw Of The Cards'. A superb diverse compilation - don't miss!

Rothmans are back with their first real milestone as a label and what better way to celebrate the labels 10th record than honouring the greatest no10 of all time Diego Armando Maradona Franco.

In their first 3 seasons Rothmans have developed a reputation for throwing us curve ball after curve ball, and in what has without doubt been their best season yet off the back of Roth 8's house slammer with Aimes & Brassica, to Roth 9's Acid Arab chug from Naduve & co, they have once again thrown another huge spanner in the works (feels like 1986 all over again)

The Diego Maradona EP comes from Brooklyn based producer Cale Parks. Better known in the New York music scene as a professional drummer Cale has recently turned his hand to producing and off the back of some fine releases on HAKT (Have A Killer Time) , he has now found his way onto the Rothmans Teamsheet.
Track 1 - The Big Bust sounds like something you might hear as the opening to an Apparat album , the sweeping synths and beautifully scored piano remind me of the first time I watched Maradona leave Beardsley and Reid for dead in the centre circle of the Azteca Stadium on a hot evening in Mexico City.
Track 2- 9G steps up the pace a bit with a much more attacking Piano sound and darker synths that remind me of watching Diego charge right past Terry Butcher and storm towards the goal on that fateful night in Mexico.

The record is finished off with a banging breakbeat sounding remix by the delectable Eddie C that almost replicates the same energy, and kick ,as Maradona steaming into the box and beating Shilton to score the greatest goal in World Cup history.

All we can say is that Rothmans have delivered another masterclass of their own.

Next up is a fave of Aficionado meister Moonboots 'Wateworld' - cinematic 80ties keys. Did anyone mention George Clooney is the Balearic Doctor of perfect new age sunset soundtracks for that Cafe Del Mar moment 'Mexodus' is a hard to find original from 1981 - comes across like a chanson meets French band Air.
Finally, the atmopsheric afro Cosmic funk stepper 'Buh Bak Ho' is full of jazzy keys and lovely savannah chanting.

Two Parisians, Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris, exiled in London for the better part of the last ten year set out to re-define space. It's a fine line was born from non-restraint, cultivating its own vision of house music and disco, a paradoxical one, a non-functional one.

Their first LP (thought, rebuilt, announced, delayed) reveals itself as a collection of tests, of explorations in the shadows and corners of club culture. These are murky roads where counterfeit goes for gold standard, perfect territory to lose oneself in order to find ones way. Leaving behind the smooth highways of club music, they rode more chaotic trails, with dubious reputation or names: white funk, trance groove, electronic psychedelia, greasy, rock'n'roll... A risky path, ambivalent, proud of accidents, crashes and bad taste, but the only real way to discover virgin grounds on well-trodden terrain. They are writing their own (hi)story.

For this album, Tim and Ivan recruited three double agents, the flame of Alex Kapranos, singer of Franz Ferdinand, the mysterious voice of Olivia de Lanzac from cult band Quad Throw Salchow and the pitched down, spectre of label companion C.A.R. Three tweaked but prominent voices, joining in an album that confounds through the coherence of its eclecticism and the rigorous mirage of its style.

Classic 1986 Original crossover Club hit Why Why Why by The Woodentops remixed for its 30th anniversary.
The Woodentops Why Why Why was in 1986 a floor filler In Ibiza played by DJ Alfredo and brought back to UK by the now super DJ's. It is for many DJ's, a career starter and pivotal record in the beginning of the club scene that gave us the Summer of Love in the mid to late 1980's. It was a live performance of a song played amongst electronic music in countless clubs around the globe.

Tonbe is back on his lovely label Disco Fruit with 4 new tunes, including one remix by well known Munich-based DJ and producer Alkalino. First tune on A side is Tonbe's powerful high-octane disco house tune with great bass guitar, clavinet and flute sections. This tune is definitely for the peak time wherever you play. Second tune on this side is remix by Alkalino who delivers other vision of this tune but with still energy as well. On B1 is "Feel The Night", one more big disco house tune from Tonbe who's already released on digital few months ago. Great vocal sample inside with bass guitar, guitar, string and disco tom sections....and last on B2 is Tonbe's classic disco track with wonderful string and lead synth.

After a string of successful disco and funk releases on Editorial Records, The Owl is back with his very own label. These sample heavy gems from the funk forest of yesteryear will soon see this nocturnal avian soar to modern disco peaks.

Dalmata Daniel presents it's own second release from the Japan based producer 99LETTERS. His has been active for 8 years now and his several music came out on labels such as french house Série Limitée and british techno label Seagrave.His new material the 'Untold Future' is a hardware based, dynamic and solid four tracks EP which includes a dub version from 'Neo Life' by the young german newfound TRP, who's debut EP was released earlier this year by the lo-fi bearer Lobster Theremin.The A side contains two warm house jams with smooth ambience. As 'Neo Life' is like a solid deep dream, 'Untold Future' more drives you into a breezy floating new morning.Meanwhile on B side you'll find polished techno cuts. 'Cooper' comes with straight drums, hypnotic driven synths and bass-line and it's ready to heat up the floor. 'Neo Life TRP dub' is more like a reinterpretation from the original one, it's hazy, faster, and injected with acid hotness. Both of them were born to play out loud.

Kauf is a L.A.-based singer and composer of exquisite synth-heavy vocal backed scores. Fort Romeau is a House music producer from UK. One is remixing the other. The result couldn't be better: Music for Ballroom dancing and putting your greasy leather jacket over your tuxedo and wearing biker boots to a cocktail dress. Comes with extended vocal and instrumental mix.

Danish producer Uffe Christensen returns to Tartelet Records with his second LP 'No!', a deeply personal LP to follow 2015's unanimously unfuckwithable debut 'Radio Days'. Every bit as abundant as his first, it's a record that scales polyrhythmic percussion, improvised jazz, & billowing ballads. This, that and so much more, it's a triumph of one man's instinctive ear -- and should be consumed in one sitting.
A year after his dynamic debut 'Radio Days', Uffe resurfaces on Tartelet with a record cut in the same spirit as the last: a borderless approach to music-making with organic instrumentation at its heart. Genres collide peaceably --off-beat soul with jazz, hip-hop with the heft of house-- and are melded smooth with an earthy warmth. Like nearly all at camp Tartelet, he's a producer who is more interested in cutting loose than playing to the tune of dominant modes in dance music. In that, his album's title is instructive: a 'no' to the tyranny of trends; to slavish Facebook likes; to creative compromise. Beyond the babble of fleeting fads, Uffe enjoys his place on the perimeter -- an outlier searching critically for something closer to a timeless groove. Uffe has all of the intuition of the self-taught instrumentalist, following his ear into unexpected rhythmic and tonal combinations. It's what gives the album its urgent appeal: the sound of tentative experiments being made live; of sequences mprovised amongst friends. Far from a churn of simple floor fodder, the album is a journey through a consummate narrative. Shy guitar interlude 'Fridge Magnet Radio Theme' feels its way out of the warbling jazz breakdown in 'Lesser Known Values'. 'The Fact', an unexpected vocal ballad, follows the broken beat of 'Solo, So Loud'. With the record's pleading closer 'From Me', it's a story with a start, middle, and end. A long player as long players should be.
As Tartelet continue their run of consistently solid EPs & 12"s, it's still these album moments that remain the best gateways into the label's distinctive sound. Alongside Max Graef's debut 'Rivers of the Red Planet' and Glenn Astro's 'Throwback', Uffe's 'No' is a mirror to the Tartelet spirit and sits amongst the imprint's best. For lovers of the true album -- the full-length proper; the one-take listen -- this one's for you.

Landing straight after 415-PR10, Public Release's first in a loose series of San Francisco-centric compilations, this three-track 12-inch is a further exploration of the Bay Area's sounds and aesthetics, though here it's explored via remixes produced by friends from abroad.The A-side is a complete overhaul, reimagining, and extension of Anonstop's 'Seaside' by Thee Loving Hand, Tim Goldsworthy's solo moniker of choice these days. The ex-DFA Records co-founder and former member of UNKLE took the tune's Balearic foundation and used it as a bed for what one might mistake as a lost Arthur Russell cut from the World of Echo era. Joel Wells lent his airy, light, sweet vocals to the track, while Darren Morris added synth work to bolster Tim's usual production genius. It's carefree and emotive, the aural equivalent of a big, toothy smile.The flip features a mix that's a whole helluva lot more intense and uptempo, though no less positive than it's original. Chida's remix of 'Domination' is squarer and housier than Be´zier's piece, which was glitzy classic disco dunked in Italo, but enough of it remains to be unmistakably a spinoff. Fiery and propulsive in the way a Gulfstream jet is, it's a ball of thunder that will electrify any set, any dance floor.

More of Love, the second release from the UK's Danced Til Midnight is a low slung, sensually charged slice of soulful groove guaranteed to get the floor bumping and grinding whatever the hour. Featuring new tracks from The Revenge and Faze Action, fresh for 2016.All tracks feature honeyed, velvet vocals and soulful inflections. Remixes come in the shape of a supercharged disco bomb from the disco stalwarts Faze Action on the track More of Love, while The Revenge Edit of No Way Back owns the deeper shades of Balearic beach house.
