New limited edition series from Sofrito: Sofrito Super Singles, which will bring to light the finest reissues of rare and forgotten tropical dancefloor sounds. The debut release celebrates the Afro-disco and boogie scene of South Africa, - where Salsoul meets Soweto. Comes housed in a new look Sofrito house sleeve.

The three track EP features Teaspoon & The Waves - led by veteran alto player Teaspoon Ndelu. They released one album in 1980, covering a mix of disco and funk sounds for the SA dancefloors. Oh yeh Soweto is a cheeky version of Lamont Dozier's Going Back To My Roots - changing the lyrics and toughening up the beats, but with the same killer riffs. Saturday Night Special is from the same LP, a spaced out Afro Disco groove with excellent percussion and psychedelic synths, re-edited by the Sofrito team.

The B side features a track by the Nzimande Allstars - another mysterious group of session musicians. The drawn out groove of Highway Sporo Disco fuses a heavy disco backing with jive guitar and stellar horns and organ for a unique taste of the underground sound of the Cape.

Coming up soon on Sofrito Super Singles will be a slice of Trinidad Soca Disco and some raw Haitian sounds.

Alma Negra is a Swiss collective that consists of four musically driven friends, the Figuiera Brothers Dersu & Diego whose roots are established firmly in their Cape Verdian heritage, Dario with his half and half Portuguese/Italian mix and finally Mario with Spanish roots.They are all passionate diggers who love playing music from all over the world, something that's evident in their productions as well. Beginning in the south, the Bruce Trail hugs the ancient shoreline of Lake Iroquoia as it follows the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. The Path, over its lengthy journey, winds its way through a landscape of natural beauty as it moves up to central Ontario. As the Trail leads further into the depths of the woodland and Ravine, sunlight falls through layers of evergreen branches stamping intricate patterns on the forest floor. Continuing north, the Trail passes an array of plants and wildlife native to the historic forest. Vivid colours saturate the forest canopy, complimented by the sounds of the cascading
waterfall echoing through the Ravine. In the distance a carpet of gently waving fern cover the rolling hills dotted with slow-growing centuries-old coniferous trees that reach towards the sun.
At the home stretch of the escarpment you will be offered stunning views of the Peninsula, with the calm blue water of the western end of Lake Ontario reaching out to the lush greens of the temperate rainforest. This is the journey of the Bruce Trail.

Mile End Records is pleased to present their latest release, "Slide," which is a collaboration between two undisputed legends of house music: Roy Davis Jr. and Robert Owens.

The song marks the first single off Roy's upcoming full length album for Mile End Records - Destroy and Rebuild - due worldwide later this year. Roy Davis Jr. is known globally for his anthemic catalog of soulful, Chicago-style house with R&B influences. Robert Owens' voice is recognizable on countless house music classics including the seminal "I'll Be Your Friend." Needless to say this meeting of the minds makes perfect sense.

While "Slide" seems predestined to move dance floors, the excitement is in how it accomplishes its magic. A slight acid bass line shimmies away layered in with deep, shifting pads and a short, reverberating stab that creates an upswing in the groove.

Robert Owens sings in the way that only he can, with a slight echo effect leaving lingering trails and creating continuity between multiple vocal parts. Introduced by the onset of piano keys towards the end of the song, the heated singing turns to cool talking.

What would this release be without more heavy hitters on remix duties A fellow Chicagoan with a lengthy history dating back to the '80s, DJ Skull really gives the track an authentic rawness exemplified by that classic era. While based in the UK, Luke Solomon (Classic Music Company) at some point was certainly bit by the Chicago bug, evidenced by his longtime label collaboration with the Windy City's Derrick Carter. Luke really works out the drums in his remix and adds off-kilter bleeps with string like filtered acid sounds.

Moving on to one of Canada's top talents, Andy Roberts (Mixed Signals Music) also reinvents the track's drums, but chooses organs, chimes, and a more hardy bass over the others' 303 sounds. Berkshire's James Blakstar John is up next and holds his own with active, filtered key sounds taking the forefront along with some playful vocal rearrangement.

Roy Davis Jr. and Robert Owens have attracted an all-star cast on Mile End Records that would make it hard for anyone to just let this package slide.

An Italian-Spanish connection is always a good thing. The sort of sensual and Mediterranean emotions that Carlo and Black Loops can deliver, is a skill that has been taken far on this new EP. The dichotomy can prove difficult to square sometimes, particularly when the guys have different paths in their sound. But the mix is rich here. The Intermission EP is a packed full of soul samples, warm pads, and great solid beats wrapped up as a soulful declaration. Their massive love for music really shines through in this EP.

Bordello A Parigi. Ali Renault. A gin and tonic combo if there ever was one. The UK synthesizer savant lands with a four tracker of leftfield electro pop. 'Altro Mondo' screams out of the traps, bulbous bass lines elbow sweetened chords and snapping beats. 'Fume' grows from the same soil. Analogue warmth is brushed, even bruised, by the crack and whip of rhythms; a touch of EBM bitterness blended with Italo hope. Nowhere is this more evident than in...'Nowhere', a buckled dancefloor romp with the king of Milano, Fred Ventura, offering vocals. Uabos maintains the tension for the finale, uplifting house currents coursing through his remix of 'Lenticular'.

DJ Dez aka Andrés returns to Japan's Root Down records for his second 7" on the label. For those that only know Dez from his Andrés releases- you are missing a whole other side of what this guy can do. Dez has been scratching, cutting, and chopping beats for the better part of 20 years as a DJ for Slum Village, a member of Detroit's 12 Tech Mob DJ crew, not to mention countless amounts of productions, mixes and beats for other artists. Here on this 7" - we have two rare examples of Dez's inimitable style - raw, funky and timeless!

Street Meat follows the sold-out In Flagranti Edits w/ club-worthy re-edits of some Chrissy faves, from classic US garage to obscure Quebecois disco & synthy Euro-heaters. He's been road testing in rooms like Panorama Bar & Smartbar, to great response.

Hot on the heels of the Steaua de Mare Remixes comes 4 retakes of Jaakko Eino Kalevi's idiosyncratic pop stylings. Licensed from Weird World Records, this sees the multi-instrumentalist's original Dreamzone EP handed over for readjustment.

The up, up boogie vibes of Tom Noble's calling card create his best remix to take. No Fun maybe Jaakko's 'ladies' love hymn, but with Tom's distinctive "never ending" bass and hats loops moving hips, a keys solo and vocal interplay ensure sublime perfection.

Next Steven Warwick's superb Heatsick project implants his twisted casio-rawness in to Jaakko's world, marrying Memories ghostly vocals into a mix of afro-clipped beats and lo-fi melody that just fits.

So happy to finally welcome in friends, family and inspiration, Peaking Lights in to the family. Aaron and Indra's uplifting dub love comes alive in this remix, with live bass grooves, vibing keys and Jaakko's unique vocal riding-a-riddim' all night long.

A duo of the tastiest forgotten ingredients re-invented for modern palates...

The Florida based Brookside imprint have dug deep into the Philly master tapes and let NYC master-mixer Mike Maurro loose on a couple of stone cold classics from the catalog! Maurro, a Queens based DJ and mixer since 1986 has become one of the top remixers out there today with his own, faithful takes on numerous dance classics from the last 30+ years. Here, he tackles 2 cuts from Philadelphia International recording artists and Soul, Funk and Disco legends - Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes. "Bad Luck" takes up side-A of the 12", a glorious 13 minute remix that just oozes class. This one was made with DJ's in mind, extended drum breaks, elongated sections that squeeze every drop of sweet Philly Soul out onto the dancefloor. Side-B sees a fantastic mix of the evergreen classic "The Love I Lost", clocking in at just under 12 minutes. A slow burning version with the instrumentation and arrangements up front for the first few minutes before the track unfolds and Teddy's iconic vocals grace our eardrums. Incredible! These mixes are ESSENTIAL for any Disco/soul/Funk fans out there, unmissable for the DJ's, legitimately remastered and pressed onto high quality 12" singles in conjunction with all rights holders.

Early in 2014, Copenhagen's Kenneth Bager asked electronic wizard and remix entrepreneur Ruf Dug if he would make an album for his acclaimed Balearic imprint Music For Dreams. That summer, Ruf Dug headed off to spend three months on the island of Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean. Seizing the opportunity to live out his own Compass Point fantasy, he put together a portable studio that would fit into a suitcase - two half-rack synthesizers, a couple of effects units, his laptop and a 4-track cassette recorder. He set up the studio in the spare bedroom in a rented villa and spent the next 12 weeks watching the sun set and making the album. All tracks were written and recorded in Guadeloupe, with Nev Cottee beaming in vocals and guitar parts for a couple of the tracks direct from the heart of Mancunia, hooking into the powerful and long-standing musical relationship between Manchester and that most famous of sunset islands - Ibiza.
This is music not only for sunsets, but also for late-night smuggling adventures; for tropical storms and rum-soaked afternoons; for pirates, playboys and people like you and me.
The end result hopefully transports you to an island in the sun: neither Guadeloupe nor Ibiza particularly, but rather that island of the imagination, one we all escape to from time to time, no matter where we find ourselves. Pizzico Label head Billy Bogus is back on track, this time joined by Kasillen , mysterious producer and sound designer who comes from a hip hop and black music background, and is behind Italian pop stars such as Stadio, Umberto Tozzi & Samuele Bersani just to name a few.Bogus & Kasillen come up with two original tracks with the consistent help of a MPC 1000, blending old Italian horror soundtracks with dubby/cheesy analog sounds so to convey the sense of discomfort you feel while watching a thrilling Italian b-movie, but in a clubby way. The final punch comes from the acid psychedelia of a different version of the same track by In Flagranti and the 80's space-like vibe of homeboy Ma Spaventi .
Svengali is a 1931 American horror film where through hypnotism and mind control, a sinister music maestro controls the singing voice, but not the heart, of the woman he loves. As most of the Impressionist movies of early 30's it speaks metaphorically about european pre-war tensions and the incoming menace of Nazi Germany.

Giovanni Damico is an extremly talented and ambitious producer from Italy. Despite his young age he has over 20 releases on labels like the beloved FACES. This EP is just insane. Proud moment for Giovanni and Lumberjacks in Hell.

Finnitus is back with its first 12" release! Spanning the entire A side, Superkind, consisting of Rulefinn and Kim Durbeck, delivers a driving Disco bass line, epic strings and screaming laughter, which The Glue dubbed as 'the weirdest thing we've heard in our entire lives'. On the flip, Rulefinn drops 'Just Try', a nine minute slow jam, slowly building to a climax worthy of finishing your perfect night at the club, and 'Let the OK music play', an intense Disco drum tool in his favourite bpm range(130s).

Consumer Manoeuvres by Le Cliché is the latest release on Cold Beats Records (Barcelona). This follows the debut release by Le Cliché, 'Consumer Behaviour' on the Seattle (USA) based label Medical Records in 2014 and its follow up in 2016 entitled 'The Product is You' on the Sincronica label (Valencia).
Le Cliché is the electronic music project of Gerard Ryan, professor of marketing at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. The music takes a critical view of the malaise of marketing and its effect on our postmodern consumer society. It deals with serious issues as diverse as consumer privacy, identity, fad diets, fast fashion and the hyper-reality of contemporary advertising. Yet it does so always with an optimistic sarcasm and playfulness.
This new collection of songs on Cold Beats Records, entitled Consumer Manoeuvres, started out as a remix project but very quickly turned into an all-together different record, a series of collaboration, covers and reimagining's of the original music. Top quality reissue of the original 3C Records release of the hugely in-demand 'Respect' 12' from electric violin virtuoso and academic Dr John Blair. Originally released back in 1983, this floor filling boogie rap bomb features production from the legendary Roy Ayers who expertly brings to life Blair's incredible musicianship. The Doctor drops a cool positive vibe rap on Side A but it's the instrumental on the flip that's the real fire losing the rap in favour of some insane violin soloing. A big favourite of DJs like Rahaan, Sadar Bahar & DJ Harvey, being one of the standouts of his 2009 Beats In Space appearance.

Kicking off the Bump Sampler is Classic head honcho Luke Solomon, with his remix of Anytime Insanity by Lil' Mark. It features vocals by US based vocalist Allegra Bandy.

Next up is the Brett Johnson remix of Hot by Copenhagen based producer Kim Kemi.

On the B side Lil' Mark's Original production Runaway, gets the remix treatment by the infamous Matt Tolfrey for his EC1 mix series.
