The legendary West End Records kick off 2017 with the a brand new re-edits series inviting like-minded producers with an underground thirst and a deep understanding of house & disco culture to collaborate on a very special project.
First up, Wolf Music man Medlar; applying his dancefloor know-how to West End's rich archive of classic disco and boogie. Hand picking four personal favourites, Medlar reworks them perfectly for current club sets. Picking out dub sections and skilfully reworking & extending them proving exactly why Medlar has been such a draw to labels like Delusions of Grandeur and For Discos Only.'I put these edits together for myself and a few friends to play in our DJ sets. West End was one of the key stepping stones to what would later become house music and for many is the definitive sound of early 80s New York. I'd argue that it's aged better than any other label of that era and if you're relatively new to the label or know it inside out, the catalogue can likely still provide something new.'
These four sublime new edits from Medlar showcase his passion for digging deep, knowledge of house history and skills as a producer.

Misterious new label of underground disco

After sending out these tracks last summer and getting great reactions from DJs and dancers alike, Hell Yeah is pleased to finally officially release virtuoso musician Verdo's Little Blue EP, complete with a remix from Lauer. Fully remastered for vinyl, the likes of Lexx, Chris Coco, Soft Rocks, Leo Mas and many more have all be playing these tunes with great results.

The talented Verdo runs the famous Gratis Club in Senigallia on the Italian east coast. It is a place he calls home, and that has really allowed him to hone and sharpen his DJ skills so that now he is a slick, unpredictable and singular DJ with many tricks up his sleeve. Bjorn Torske, DJ Fettburger, Prins Thomas, Kenji Takimi, Glenn Underground and more have all played there in the last decade and Verdo himself is a skilled pianist who has played for Zero7 singer Mozez in the past. He has worked with Hell Yeah before now, as well as releasing on Danny Was A Drag King, and here serves up his biggest bit of dance floor dynamite to date, including his previously digital only cut 'Big Fish' (mixed by DJ Rocca).

Opener 'Little Blue' is a perfectly sunny track with hip swinging claps, bobbling bass and boat party vibes that soothe your soul. Rich with instrumentals and golden synth lines, it's a perfect beat that gets followed up by the retro disco pump of 'Sazerac', another tropical cut with loose drums and rubbery bass to get you up on your toes.

The massive 'Big Fish' then hits hard with its tin pot percussion and wild synths all making you flail your arms like you just don't care. Jumbled jungle vibes and big chords all swell your heart as your feet skip about down low.

Closing out the package is Phillip Lauer (Tuff City Kids), one of the most in demand stars of the day, and his version is a direct house jam with percolating and rugged synths and slapping hits, all demanding you ditch your cocktail and get up and groove.

Dark Entries present all four mixes of 'Transdance' by Night Moves as a tribute dedicated to the lives lost in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire on December 2, 2016. Night Moves was the brainchild of Michael Guihen, from Pimlico, south London. Inspired by seeing Tubeway Army perform on Top of the Pops in 1979 he placed an ad to form a synth-based band in the NME.

Musik for Autobahns is the result of asking Gerd Janson for a collection that starts where previous efforts left off. While Computer Incarnations for World Peace (his compilations for Sonar Kollektiv) concentrated on tipsy new wave music done by jazz-funkers or neo disco-ists, Autobahns has an
unintentionally strong leaning towards ambient not-ambient, kraut pleasers and codeine house, i.e. Industrial Ambient and Electrifying New Age. It's all new and exclusive material by people who once or twice crossed paths with the compiler. You will hear Âme with their modular slambient concept sitting next to Amsterdam's Tom Trago off peak time duties, Roman Flügel with an old DAT tape wunderkind that shares a side with Heidelberg's very own Move D in love, outsider dance from CF & Daywalker alias Entro Senestre and Willie Burns as well as a greasy sounding Marco Passarani and finally Tensnake's romantic pop appeal that is a counterpoint to Maxxi & Zeus (better known as Quiet Village) and their 'Passion' for all beauties that lie beyond.
This sometimes unlikely gathering is hopefully unified by its non-parochial view of dance- and living-room floors, ambient noise and its effectiveness as a soundtrack to long rides up and down the Autobahn.

Holding On is the first release for North London producer Smashed Atoms on his own Magic Circles Music label, and follows up his recent appeearance on the Juno #1 album Trash The Wax 3 on Paper Disco. The title track features an insistent house piano, fizzing synths and the voice of Chicago house legend Robert Owens interlocking over a rolling, percussive groove. On the flip side, The People Come Together mixes up a slo-mo shuffle with a hint of Loaded-era Primal Scream, while Wonderlust immerses the listener in a nice warm disco bath.

After some successful releases on top labels like Street Edits, Giant Cuts, Boogie Café or Wall Of Fame, Madrid's DJ and producer Javi Frias has decided to start his own label called Night Shift Records, devoted to soulful and deep disco edits and reworks.
The first release on the label is called 'Make It Happen EP', and includes 4 strong tracks full of love and energy retouched and extended by Javi Frias to get the maximum dance floor pleasure, covering funky disco, gospel, house and soulful grooves.

Debut solo album for the producer and DJ Danilo Seclì , titled "Reverse" and comes out on March 31, 2017 Smilax /. The symbol of the famous dj Samsara Beach Gallipoli beach doing dance and dream, looks back on many years of music has long coordinates the collective project Calls Salento Italy, with whom he released three albums and several compilations. For the first time, with this record he makes his musical personality and does so by collaborating with Sandro Cappello, German songwriter of Italian origin. "Reverse" is perfectly halfway between pop and dance. The lyrics of some songs give energy, others, it is the case of "Starlight", are true love songs, electronic sounds sometimes take a back seat. There are two covers ( "Master Blaster" by Stevie Wonder and "Sweet Harmony" of the Beloved), but even then the melodies and sounds of the past are proposed in a new way. It is no coincidence: Reverse in Italian means return and cover stands on a sort of portal in the form of R, facing the future and simultaneously towards the past. "The album is a kind of circulation and recirculation of life and music," says Danilo Seclì. "We 'a loop that tells the emotions that we all live and still live again through music. Today many DJs and even many artists prefer to be limited to the individual, but I wanted to express a concept a bit 'wider. " "Reverse" contains 9 songs and is a mix of past and future music. Melodie atmospheres and the 80/90's pop are reinterpreted by the arrangement essential and current songs. Who wants to dance or to dance can do it, but "Reverse" is primarily a disc to listen and listen carefully.

Futureboogie brother Christophe and the eternally cool Danielle Moore get it together for the next release on the imprint and deliver a surefire summer sensation. In the lead-up to the release of 'Motion Sickness' on December 3rd, Domino will put out a three-part 12' vinyl series with each record featuring two highlights from the remix compilation. Produced by the legendary Patrick Adams, the studio-bound disco unit Cloud One made its debut in 1976 with the spectacular Atmosphere Strut and throughout the seventies, became the centerpiece for Queen Constance, Golden Flamingo, Heavenly Star, and Sound of New York, all labels ran by Peter Brown &
Patricia Gilyard. At a time when most music was recorded with a full army of studio musicians, Cloud One records were mostly played, arranged and mixed in their entirety by Patrick Adams himself!!! The ability to "work on his own" allowed the music to feel more experimental than the work he did on major labels at
the time. Released in 1977 Disco Juice is probably P&P's best-known cut and for good reason. All the elements are there, a catchy melody reinforced by Venus Dodson's vocals, a driving bass line, an accentuated piano and of course the signature Patrick Adams Synth Strings unifying the whole composition
and creating a delirious and hypnotic effect. It's no surprise this Record has been a point of reference to many house music producers, and sampled famously by artists like Norman Cook and Paul Johnson. From the Streets of Harlem to the beaches of Ibiza, 38 years later this juice keeps aging like a fine wine.

On the flip, the suite is reworked by Basic Mind, one half of GCR alumni Long Body, who lures a 'blowfly house' stomper from the original's minimal, digital dusk.

01AM is the perfect time to start a party and it is the first release of a new label by Afrobot related to his Afrobotic Musicology blog. The record contains 4 edits of music from different corners of the globe: to begin with an epic electro pop nugget from Greece and a heavily cut up Bollywood track on the A side, to finish the journey in Africa on the flip side with a percussive acid jam and a Zulu cult song that screamed for a rework.
