For our second foray into the vinyl world, Sprechen label head Massey joins forces with Sir Horatio, 'a certain' band from Manchester on collaboration cut 'Music Control'.

The result is a meeting of musical minds that blends together both parties favoured sounds to create a squelchy sandwich of post-disco/ proto-house with a healthy helping of acid & punk-funk which should appeal to fans of mucky basements and mature mosh-pits as well as those cosmic ALFOS astronauts.

Having shared edit duties on Universal Cave's 10th release, Philadelphia duo Superprince take the reins solo for UC011 with four slices of Philly rework heat.

From the soulful Caribbean funk of 'Mama' to the syrupy, slo-mo boogie of 'Rose', the A side is a sublime double header of slow jams to kick off the e.p.

On the B side, Superprince picks up the pace with delicious, private press disco for the dancefloor in the form of 'Come To Me', before the dubbed-out balearic bliss of 'Buy You A Dream' closes out the affair with a chuggier and cheekier high note.

Zissou is ringing in the summer early this year with it's second release, starring Stockholm's very own Ari Bald & infamous Lucky Charmz from Lehult, Germany. Swedish house muscle as far as your ear can hear - feel free to join in for a sundown schwitz.

The Word is one of the better kept secrets of 1980s Austrian disco music. Yet once you put the needle on this record, you notice that it sounds oddly familiar. The awe inspiring signature piece “Lobster” has the same analogue, slow moving aesthetic as Zenit’s timeless “Waiting” that was featured on Edition Hawara’s first release. The same goes for the three other wonderfully unconventional, proto electronic songs: “Easy”, “All My Life” and the eponymous “ The Word”. And there are even more commonalities with Zenit’s LP: The vocals are Linda Sharrock’s, who here teamed up with Karl “Charly” Ratzer and Peter Ponger, the twin brother of legendary Falco producer Robert Ponger. The result of this collaboration is, well, also quite legendary. How this kind of sound emerged in Vienna in 1984 is still a bit of a mystery, but clearly all the stars were aligned when Sharrock, Ratzer and Ponger were jamming in the studio. We are very proud to share this secret with you. Just as there are very few lobsters in landlocked Vienna, there are very few records like this out there.

Coming in strong with an update on another classic track, Glitterbox Recordings presents Krystal Davis 'So Smooth' featuring remixes from Kon and Yam Who alongside the original and an instrumental. One of the last in a rare breed of dedicated crate-diggers, Kon's vast knowledge of the heavily swung rhythms of classic disco make him a reverent remixer for this mid-tempo Krystal Davis disco hit, originally released in 1985 on New York label Urban Rock Records Inc. His version amps up the pace, tailoring the record for any discerning contemporary disco set. Midnight Riot Records head Yam Who goes blissed out with the synths for an irresistible mix that's smoother than smooth.

Mr. K and MEU are back with a definitive issue of one of the greatest ‘80s R&B cuts, René and Angela’s majestic “I Love You More.”

Despite residing in the upper echelon of Billboard’s R&B charts for the entire summer of 1981, twelve-inch copies of “I Love You More” have always been tricky to track down, a promo-only item that meant hearing the extended mix was a rare treat. Back in the early ‘80s, one place you could reliably enjoy it was when Danny Krivit was playing for the skaters at The Roxy in downtown Manhattan. “Not too fast, not too slow,” describes the perfect skating tempo, and “I Love You More” fits the bill to a tee. With this new release, Danny Krivit has revisited an earlier edit of the song and turned in two brand new, epic reworkings, the first time his vocal mix has ever been available.

Laced throughout with artfully matched additional instrumentation, from the reverb drenched solo piano that opens and closes the song, to the spacey synth improvisations that ripple throughout (both courtesy AK), to the touches of just right extra percussion, nothing is heavy-handed or overdone. Even with the vocal version clocking in at a generous nine minutes, the captivating groove and revamped arrangement leave listeners wanting more. Fortunately the flip side instrumental opens up endless possibilities for creative DJs to take things even farther.

“I Love You More” was originally produced by Bobby Watson, Rufus bassist and an A-list L.A. studio veteran also responsible for the bass line in MJ’s “Rock With You.” Watson brought in many of those same studio pros for this session, including legendary engineer Bruce Swedien, who put an equally luxurious gloss on “I Love You More” as he did with “Off The Wall” two years earlier. Bobby Watson also happens to be René Moore’s older brother. In a touch of familial echo, AK, the keyboardist on this new landmark rework, happens to be the wife of Danny Krivit.

Most Excellent Unlimited is releasing Mr. K’s “I Love You More” edits as a special Valentine’s day twelve-inch vinyl release, complete with red label, a first for the modestly monochromatic MEU.

Seemingly unstoppable, Palermo Traxx Vol 2 is the third release from The Home Current for Castles in Space during 2019. Following the polished industrialisms and eighties inspired grooves of LP “Civilian Leather” and an immediately sold-out 7”, Martin Jensen returns with his final record of the year recorded in praise of a long deceased nightclub called Candy Junction. Recalling the euphoria and positivity of a club night, this towering work shift gears from “Civilian Leather” to full on, futuristic, air cooled dance floor assault. The original plan for this record was to release a white label promo with a facsimile DJ feedback sheet. Straight from 1991 with love. However, as the music developed, it was agreed that this needed a full official release with all the tinsel and trimmings.

Soundtracks and dark, sinister disco. He has amassed a massive fanbase and has a fantastic discography stretching all the way back to his first releases in 2008. Currently residing in The Hague, Bristolian Anton Maiof makes music that is beautifully dark, yet wonderfully uplifting. His “British Interrail” EP is his first release for Castles in Space since the long sold out “British Summer/Russian Winter” double 7”.Anton delivers a beautiful sequence of frosty electronic disco tracks on the 30+ minute E.P. release, “British InterRail”. Written and produced in The Hague between 2017 and 2019, these tracks bring together some of Anton’s most stirring work executed with his usual affecting and direct production. Fantastic stuff.

Sometimes a single is released that reaches such dizzying heights of success that it becomes a pinnacle of the decade they're indelibly tied to. "Groove Is In The Heart" by dance-house trio Deee-Lite is one such single. The infectiously quirky, and eminently danceable track is prominently based around samples of "Bring Down The Birds" by Herbie Hancock, and "Get Up" by Vernon Burch, among many others, (Courtesy of dual producers DJs Dmitry and Towa Tei) paired with top-tier guest contributions from JB's veterans Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley, background vocals from Parliament-Funkadelic's own Bootsy Collins, and even a guest rap from Q-Tip, not to mention frontwoman Lady Miss Kier's own siren-like vocals. All disparate and disconnected elements, but ones that would come together to form dancehall greatness, and chart-topping success worldwide for Deee-Lite. "Groove Is In The Heart" managed to reach #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but excelled at its best on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, where it reached to the #1 spot. On top of its success in America it was a smash internationally, climbing the heights of the charts in the UK, Canada, Australia, and a vareity of other countries. It remained in heavy rotation for much of 1990 on MTV as well. As the decades went on, "Groove Is In The Heart" would be ranked among the greatest dance tracks of all time, as well as one of the greatest songs of the 1990s by VH1, Pitchfork, Buzzfeed, and many more. "Groove Is In The Heart" was a potent single for Deee-Lite to lead with, but the album bearing it was nothing to slouch at either. The group's debut record, 1990's World Clique was released to major commercial and critical success, owing just as much to its addictive hybrid of seductive retro aesthetics, modern dancefloor flair, and esoteric, socially conscious messaging, on the back of celebratory club staples like "Power Of Love", "Good Beat", "E.S.P.", and of course "Groove Is In The Heart." World Clique would reach top 20 charts in the US, UK, and Canada in sales, as well as earn rave reviews from NME, Chicago Sun-Times, Rolling Stone, and Slant Magazine, who called it an "essential pop album."

We were defined trash, italo disco, Balearic, post modern, pop, funny, cheerful, smart... When we founded Ciao Fellini our mission was to create danceable pop music and end our experience in less than a decade: 1984-1990.We were an open invitation to ephemeral, insecurity, incomplete, we were feeling part of a small centre where we managed clubs, we organized parties, and where we were searching for a way to have fun and amuse the others, always with a bit of consciousness that everything couldn't be so 'light' and 'so eighties'.We worked with great musicians and huge producers such as Sauro Malavasi e Celso Valli. In 1998 with 'La Mia banda suona il rock' cover we won Festivalbar in the new talent competition. In 1986 with song 'Noche a Bahia' we gave life to the first Balearic wave. We closed our career in 1990 with a song dedicated to Salvador Dali`. An invisible thread has connected us to those years, and at the end, after thirty years we are here trying to understand how this could happen ! Rare Cut From Cloud One Available For The First Time As A Re-Issue. A true Holy Grail from the Cloud One catalog, Don't Let My Rainbow Pass Me By' is the third of a string of titles on Golden Flamingo produced by the P&P duo of Patrick Adams and Peter Brown and featuring vocals from Guardian Angel' singer Margot Williams. Similar to previous Cloud One's productions, this record had all the
elements of a Patrick Adams classic, but with vocal arrangements that foreshadowed the work he would do with Inner Life and Jocelyn Brown at Salsoul. Perhaps not so much of a concidence then that Margot Williams would provide backing vocals on Inner Life's Second and final album. Even though it was originally released in 1981, Don't Let My Rainbow Pass Me By' is still championed by high-profile deejays today. Over the years, it's been notably sampled in Basement Jaxx's Romeo and covered by Todd Terje and Prins Thomas in Reinbagan" as a Dub-Disco cut.
Available for the first time since it's original release, our only piece of advice is don't let this classic pass you by.

Hanarossa is David Barbarossa and Andi Hanley & Haners is Andi Hanley Andi and David first met in a forest beside a psychedelic castle in the wild west of Scotland and soon bonded over a love of wrong speeders, Balearic gems hidden in plain sight and the odder side of the dancefloor before DJing together just moments after Andi was unraveled from a burning tarpaulin. A firm friendship and fun partnership was born.Hailing from Mancunia but for sometime an export to the USA, Andi, for many years was one of the great things about New York City. A charming, low-key individual, a great, great DJ and a graceful presence in the land of the overhyped and ego driven.
Andi held down the musical supervision of Rock Star games and was responsible for a lot of great music getting out to the gaming masses. He was a vital member of Body and Soul for the best part of 15 years, delivering infamous warm up sets for Danny Krivit, Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell and François K, pedigree vibes...
David, a music lover since birth, a record collector for more than quarter of a century and a reputation for being the first on the floor at any party. DB's transition from dancer to DJ didn't take too long and his selections of rare disco, oddball gems and panglobal pandemonium have seen him play back rooms, basements, festivals and freakouts throughout the land, whether running his own parties in Glasgow or playing further afield alongside the likes of Young Marco, Jayda G and Moodymann.

A1 New Flow is vintage NDP fodder it's just the tempo that has risen. Two bars of obscure disco gets lifted, chopped & filtered. The emerging source material merging with Norm's own synth lines / swells and chopped vocal stabs - all underpinned by tight, chunky, grooving drums. Deep-Disco-House the way we like it.

B1 Another Flow see's Norm explore more of his own original musical composition with this slightly deeper, more electronic cut. A soul vocal sits upon deep pads and a driving, gritty 1note bass line. Pads and synths swirl and build and we get some wild modulation on the filters before the track breaks to slowly introduce a repetitive, rolling & pounding motif over which Norm lays some signature pads and a lovely simple lead-synth line.

Groove Line Records are proud to add to their 2015 releases of half-speed mastered re-issuesingles with The Pointer Sister's classic 1980 tracks We've Got The Power and Evil, taken from the Richard Perry produced album Special Things. This is the first time We've Got The Power has been released on a 12' single. The genre defying female family vocal group The Pointer Sisters during a critically and commercially successful career took in country, jazz, blues, soul and funk to pop, disco, dance, electronic music and rock.

Side A features the full length album version of the dance floor classic We've Got The Power. The track opens with beautiful, sweeping strings over a solid, engaging beat before showcasing the trio's natural, tight harmonies on the opening verse. June's bright, powerful, gutsy voice then takes centre stage on the lead vocal bridging the verse into the uplifting horn-led chorus on which her sisters join her to mesmerising effect. The sweeping string motif then makes a brief re-appearance before an even more impassioned second verse and chorus make way for the instrumental sequence. Alternating between a funky horn line and the sweeping strings the instrumental passage takes the track to even greater heights, effortlessly carrying the listener and/or dancer through to the final verse and cleverly extended final chorus as the track fades. The Pointer Sisters' commanding, heartfelt vocal sound is perfectly suited to convey the song's theme of striving to retain innocence and positivity even in the face of life's many challenges.

Side B features arguably The Pointer Sisters' hardest hitting recording, the funk/rock track Evil. Helmed by a snarling June on lead vocals, ably assisted by her siblings. The song is centred round the evil character, 'Pretty Poison,' whom the sisters are seeking to turn the tables on due to his love 'em and leave 'em attitude. Explosive from the outset the powerful, alternating guitar and horn lines, along with a driving funk bass set the tone for the duration of the track, only yielding for the verses. Expertly arranged to maintain the driving momentum throughout Evil boasts an incredible guitar solo from Paul Jackson, Jr. and a dextrous vocal scat sequence before the sisters layer their vocals over the progressive, expansive horn lines as the extended closing chorus fades, leaving you breathless after just over three minutes. Evil is a bona fide funk bomb.

She likes to call herself a 'Ukrainian ambient chavette' and the title of her debut album is a tongue-in-cheek spin on Eno's classic. 'Music For Candy Shops' is much more sticky and syrupy than its famous predecessor though. In every track on this record Poly Chain's rich and warm synth textures are glazed with another layer of radioactive sweeting.
From atonal melodies on top to occasional spicing in form of odd reverbs, delays and drum sounds - it's all there.

Emotional Response steps to summer '17 by welcoming with accompanying releases from Out 2. Evolved out of the Brooklyn based Lectric Sands studio / label and featuring members of their own Zoovox and Mazing Vids, this 'super-alumni' is a perfect meeting for the label and US brotherhood.

Based around a longtime friendship, this slow-burner project is centered around the NYC life of one-time roommates, DJ sparrers and just possibly the latter day duo behind the Locks & DDM project that was released (semi-) anonymously in 2016, step out in to the (fluorescent) light.

With just one Out 2 track given to the world back in 2012 on Lectric Sounds 1, these recordings have morphed for a near decade to reach fruition in long-form EP and soon to come 'Showcase' vocals and dubs album.

While some is known of Mr Jeremy Campbell forum/blog educator, DJ Tropical Jeremy monikererer, half-a-Zoovox and studio (dub)don - his cohort, the little known R. Zanzibar remains a man of mystery.

Zanzibar's free-flowing lyrics, shredded guitar and bass grooves come together before plunging into Campbell's wall-of-dub mixing matrix. With fellow Lectric-head, Ben Gebhardt contributing sometimes-synths and general mixpertise, Out 2 offer a timely reminder of the best of their hometowns post-punk / new wave history, but with a laid back irreverence and killer, leg shaking, live-dubbed grooves that are very much for today.

In opener, Zanzibar lays it out. Contrary to song matter, this is impossible to not to be a Downtown-showdown-hoedown. Impro' lyrical flow keeps your head listening before the off-kilter dub-funk groove keeps you feet Moving.

Following in Fire, your mind is soon tripping to sonic content and vocal swirls, before it gets all Compass Point, with an discomix inspired, cod-desk-dub.

On the flip Rubber Hour lays a drum-work out that just sits and waits, pulling you further in the midi-groove, before Zanzibar's floating voice leads to digi-synth bass interplay. Who is top and who is bottom doesn't matter, let it ride.

Closer has you listening closely, with sharp, chopped No NY guitar-like-synth, contorting with distorted echo-vox, down to the bottom...but you're not at the bottom. In fact, this could just be the beginning. Listen Closely.

When Jackmaster opened his Mixmag covermount mix with Arthur Baker & Dave Clarke's collaboration from 2001 it shone a new light on this Southern Fried classic. It demanded a re-release and two new remixers were entasked.
