The Boutique Label proudly presents Eternal Hotfire, the debut album by cult garage rock band The Primevals, originally released in 1985 and now digitally remastered with 11 bonus tracks.
Formed in Glasgow in 1983 by lead singer and songwriter Michael Rooney, the brooding five-piece combined hi-octane, revved-up garage rock with a dusting of blues, R&B and even jazz influences. Eternal Hotfire was originally issued on highly regarded French imprint New Rose, then home to The Cramps, Tav Falco, Johnny Thunders, The Saints and a host of others. Over the next few years The Primevals cut two more albums for the Paris indie, Sound Hole and Live a Little, both produced by Richard Mazda, best known for his work with Scientists and The Fleshtones.
The Primevals formed to try out something earthy and uncompromising,' explains Rooney. To make some noise, but with good tunes as well. We wanted to combine R&B and garage styles and maybe even get close to that jazz ethic, something like Pharoah Sanders fused with the MC5. With the Clyde as our Delta.'
The Primeval Call has never truly died away, with the group releasing a steady stream of excellent albums including Dig (1990), There Is No Other Life (2007), Disinhibitor (2010), Heavy War (2012) and Tales of Endless Bliss (2014).
Newly remastered in 2015, the CD features 61 minutes of music. Bonus tracks include the non-album singles Living In Hell and Where Are You, rare compilation tracks, and four scorching live tracks taped at the legendary Klub Foot in London in 1985. The deluxe 16 page booklet includes archive band images and liner notes by Rooney.

The Boutique Label presents Sound Hole, the second album by cult garage rock band The Primevals, originally released in 1986. Now remastered with 6 bonus tracks as well as new artwork, the double disc package also includes a bonus live CD recorded live at the Rex Club in Paris in 1988.
Sound Hole was produced by Richard Mazda (Fleshtones, Scientists). Stand out tracks include Spiritual, Lowdown and Prairie Chain. One of our best albums for sure,' says frontman Michael Rooney. The songs were strong and several peaks were hit. There's some kind of chaotic thread which linked the reality of 1980s Glasgow with a mess of far flung ideas and emotions. We definitely punched the anxiety button on Sound Hole.' The Primevals celebrated the release of the album with a six week European tour with The Cramps, along with radio sessions for the likes of John Peel, Janice Long and Andy Kershaw.
Newly remastered in 2015, disc 1 features 67 minutes of music. Bonus tracks include single b-sides and a radio session from late 1985. Disc 2 features a blistering live performance (18 tracks) from the Rex Club in Paris on 13 April 1988, highlights from which were issued as a vinyl-only album Neon Oven. This is the first time the complete show has been made available.

Bobby O'Donnell, it should be noted, really brings his Agame to the table on the release. Much like the title suggests, it's an EP that's full of lucid moments, with blissful moments of tranquility wonderfully rubbing shoulders with more introspective and melancholic fare throughout.

Frenzi Records presents Hip Flask, a comprehensive Best Of collection by maverick American artist Tav Falco and his wreckabilly' combo Panther Burns, including 2 songs from their brand new studio album Command Performance as well as 17 classic back catalogue tracks.
Raised in rural Arkansas, Tav Falco formed the first incarnation of Panther Burns in Memphis in 1979, offering an artful mix of punk, garage, rockabilly and art damage' influences, and sharing stages with the likes of The Cramps and The Gun Club. Legendary friend and mentor Alex Chilton (ex-Box Tops and Big Star) orchestrated their acclaimed debut long player Behind the Magnolia Curtain for Rough Trade Records, before going on to produce the next three Panther Burns albums, using vintage Memphis studios such as Ardent, Sam Phillips Recording and Easley McCain.
Tav Falco & Panther Burns have been cited as an influence by everyone from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to The Fall, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized. Renegade Tav Falco explores a highly personal vision of rock n' roll,' enthused Edwin Pouncey in The Wire in November 2014. Possessed by a wide range of influences that range from country and blues, novelty numbers and punk rock, to La Monte Young styled drone. But Falco has earned the right to stand shoulder to shoulder with the musicians and artists he so fervently admires.'
Robert Palmer of the New York Times declared of Falco: He is a singer, guitarist and researcher of musical arcane who hasn't let his idiomatic mastery and increasing technical expertise compromise the clarity of his vision.'
Tav Falco has spent much of the past two decades crafting a revisionist pop culture history,' said David Sprague in entertainment bible Variety. He was post-modern when post-modern wasn't cool.'
A permanent move to Europe in the late 1980s saw Tav based first in Paris, and subsequently Vienna, and an expansion of Panther's Burns raw garage sound to embrace Stax, lounge and even Argentinean tango influences (Falco is an accomplished dancer, as well as a photographer and filmmaker). His new set Command Performance was realized in Rome in 2014, and tops an extraordinarily rich back catalogue covering four decades and a dozen studio albums.
All 12 are represented on this new cherry-picked collection. Hip Flask is a genre-hopping portmanteau of tunes and anthems that have propelled, compelled, and haunted the minds, bodies, and feet of generations of celebrants,' explains Tav. There's an undercurrent which runs through each of these divergent songs - an undercurrent that wells up from darker waters and lifts the beholder in that wistful, joyous, sensual, and at times terrifying tonal embrace we call music.'
Hip Flask is released through bespoke imprint Frenzi, and features a 16 page illustrated booklet with liner notes by Tav himself. To follow are deluxe double disc editions of The World We Knew (1987), Return of the Blue Panther (1990) and Life Sentence in the Cathouse (1991).

The next release on Rinse is the 18 Hours EP, the latest missive of stargazing, spaced-out house from label regular Rupert Taylor, aka XXXY. Over the last few years Taylor's music has formed a launch pad for his explorations of the styles that fascinate him, from the heartbeat swing of UK garage to lysergic experimentation and the heady pulse of peak-time house.

The 18 Hours EP follows up this year's deliriously catchy Rinse single 'Never Enough' and the arrow-sharp 'Goldfish' on Ten Thousand Yen. Each of its three tracks captures the XXXY sound from a distinctly different angle, but they're united by his music's long-running personality traits: a devilish ear for space and melody, which bubbles through even its starkest moments. '18 Hours' itself is a gorgeous, limpid whirlpool of a club track. Rolling out over nearly six minutes, it emerges from shimmery beginnings into a wave-like rush of drums and synthlines that seethes forward and repeatedly crests in eddies of harmonic activity.

The EP's other two tracks are among XXXY's hardest-hitting floor burners to date: 'Tool (Satire Mix)' is a tough, bristling mass of acidic bleeps and steely percussion custom honed for maximum impact in the early hours. 'Clap Pitch' is harder still: perhaps the freakiest XXXY track to date, it razes the dancefloor in salvos of static, distortion and wild electronic shrieks.

After the successful start of the label with Taron-Trekka Maria Colors returns with a wonderful new offering from Cellule Eat. The three guys from Paris and Mainz have already shown their talent on French label Minibar, and for their release on Maria Colo they are moving into even deeper territories with an exciting, jazzy House track.

Time for the next regular Mojuba release after some fabulous contributions by Chez Damier and Nick Solé. The new 12~ is from Bernard Badie, who graced the 10th anniversary release with his all-time house classic Time Reveals.

London-based producer and Rinse FM associate Rupert Taylor, aka XXXY, has announced his second release for the Rinse label, featuring a pair of characteristically melody soaked, 'floor ready house tracks.
It's the follow up to 2013's incendiary club hit 'Got Me So', and is the latest in a series of releases from Taylor exploring ghostly house and garage for labels including Infrasonics, Ten Thousand Yen and Orca. Once again, what marks out XXXY's style is his deft way with synthesised melody: alongside sampled voices, everything is drenched in shimmering, spiralling lead lines that bubble with energy.

'Never Enough' builds from a minimalist, dubbed-out opening into a streamlined, acid-flecked house rhythm, whose central bass motif springs wildly around the mix like a rubber ball. 'No More' drops listeners and DJs right into the action from the beginning, coasting upward upon a deliriously catchy three-note organ motif that feels like being thrust into the middle of a peak-time club set. It crescendos with a huge, reverberant breakdown, before a shower of melodic fragments rain down like shards of shattered glass, sending the track into joyful overdrive.

French producer Mome makes his 4lux debut with this jackin Gang & Gang EP. Remixes come from Alden Tyrell & Gerd and Marquis Hawkes.

Kevin Griffiths steps out front with the latest instalment of the Tsuba Loves compilation series focusing on the boss behind the label.
The A side features an exclusive track to the album, continuing Kevin's love affair with the slower & chuggier end of the house spectrum.
Those nights listening to Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space show have not gone to waste! The B side brings together 'Revolver' and 'Enjoy The Bozak' previously unavailable on Vinyl.

We welcome our fellow townsman, the man with the many monikers Steve Mensink aka Frits Wentink. He has been making waves for a few years now with his original take on house & techno and thru mindblowing livesets with handmade controllers. Recently he started his own imprint Will & Ink together with Presk for their techno output which took the scene by storm.

As Frits he takes things on a housier tip as he showed the world before with beautiful releases on Fourth Wave and Triphouse. Bassheavy, UK influenced melodic gems are therefore featured on his brandnew Wolfskuil release.

Brighton's Delayed Audio is back, after a summer hiatus, with another superb various artists EP, yet again showing the label's unique take on house music, and its ability to hand-pick tracks which mould perfectly together.

Here we see original tracks from No Matter What label boss, James Johnston, UK based collective, Latona, plus Espada and DJ Rocca to round off what is an exceptional package. This is undoubtedly another statement of the label's intent to consistently deliver grade A house music.

We close the vinyl with a track from one of our most recent signings, Liston. "Mindset" is an 80's boogie- infused party starter. Sweeping synths glide over a powerful driving beat instantly getting heads nodding. Then just wait for that bassline....
