Felizol - Our Team Never Won

Felizol comes with his 3rd e.p for Ntrop recordings.
'Our Team Never Won' of 3 tracks, attempts to bridge experimental hardware music with programmed club-oriented grooves.
Randomness and roughness straggle with elegance and balance. 'Our Team Never Won' is a deep techno song with foggy vocals, aggressive kicks, distorted bass and side-chained melodies.
'11 Years' minimize latin harmonies and guitar timbres while the dry house beat and the warm poly-analogs follow the repetitious vocals. The Promise is an experimental dub with jazz fragments and minor piano chords constructed around the field recording of a Finish lunatic old man talking to himself.

Yambee / Neon Rider / Magnetic Soul & Edit Van Halen - Midnight Riot Volume 2

YAMBEE AKA Ashley Beedle & Yam Who collaborate once more and rework the epic quintessential post-acid Ballistic Brothers anthem 'Blacker'. Its staggering to think the original release on 'The Eccentric Afros Volume 2' was way back in 1994 and the song has been consistently played internationally by the likes of Carl Craig, Francois Kevorkian, Norman Jay & Giles Peterson ever since. Yambee have recreated the entire track into a deeper modern day composition embracing the original and pushing the production to a higher level, which again will stand the test of time and be heard for many years to come! This is a total exclusive to this Sampler no digital promo's have been sent out as yet.

NEON RIDER hailing from the dust underground street parties of Mexico and hot off the back of the Love In Lust edits makes his debut for Midnight Riot with the killer 2 Step joint 'Groove Me'. Starting with a rhythm that tricks your ears in to thinking that your about to hear an edit of the Mary Jane Girls anthem 'All night Long' it quickly u-turns in to a blended and chopped soulful R&B vocal explosion underpinned by a dirty funk b-line and tweaked with flawless filtering techniques making it one of the strongest Riot cuts to date and an instant bonified classic.

MAGNETIC SOUL delivers his most anthemic production yet with 'Love Suite'. Already receiving major props from the DJ fraternity this rare groove cut and shut has massive crossover appeal. The idea is entirely original and just goes to show that to make uplifting peak time music you just need a great groove and don't have to resort to pushing your tempos to the max!

EDIT VAN HALEN delivers yet another of his trademark boogie numbers, this time digging in to his heavy slo-soul 80's crates for inspiration. Perfect for those intimate sweaty club nights, this futuristic groove with filtered pads, a pounding moog bass line and intricate percussion will appeal to clubbers old and new!

Dominik Von Senger - Only Love Can Take Us Home

DVS hits the Psyche/Kraut Rock bullseye with 'Only Love'

Ably assisted by Thomas Bullock, this compellingly motorik, spaced out song punctuated by heavily effected blasts of guitar, sounds like a lost classic
The B side features Mix 2, a beatless version that lays the vocal and guitar elements bare

Superb !

Storm Queen ( Morgan Geist ) - Lets Make Mistakes

2

Morgan Geist's project STORM QUEEN marks a return to his roots with an analog approach towards modern house music with a disco pedigree. 'Let's Make Mistakes' once again features the vocal talents of Damon C. Scott. Storm Queen's debut of 2010, 'Look Right Through,' became an underground hit and was reissued as a remix package by Defected Records. 2011's 'It Goes On' nearly outstripped Storm Queen's debut in popularity and was featured in countless radio and club DJ sets and charts. 'Let's Make Mistakes' extends the Storm Queen continuum at 117 BPM, slowing down and emptying out to form a sinewy, building sound sculpture with a pop song nestled at its core. STORM QUEEN physical releases will be limited-edition 12's only. STORM QUEEN is made for DJs, but doesn't sacrifice atmosphere and songwriting. STORM QUEEN owes a debt to classic house music from New York, Chicago and Detroit, as well as disco and boogie. S T O R M Q U E E N i s a l e a p o f f a i t h .

Tomas Barfod - Salton Sea Lp

omas Barfod is fascinated with the idyllic wasteland, unveiling 'Salton Sea', an LP that draws from the concept of urban decay. The producer and drummer of the popular Danish group WhoMadeWho, with a history of solo and collaborative releases for Get Physical, Turbo, Gomma, and Kompakt, Barfod's latest full-length balances contrasts. At times bright with delicate pop melodies, 'Salton Sea' boldly submerges into dark, morose rhythms, juxtaposing the graceful and desolate characteristics of the Californian lakebed the album shares its name with.

Opener "D.S.O.Y." wastes no time jumping out the gates with fervent energy and upbeat animation. After the LP's first single, "Broken Glass", "Came To Party" marks the height of the night, reaching a tipping point with big room dynamics. As the album continues its flow, the somber pop of "Till We Die" dwells in the late-night afterglow, while "November Skies" picks up the pieces to soar in an airy melody with vocals from Sweden's Nina Kinert. The frenetic, sinister Moroder disquietude of "Nighthawke", which features vocals from New York film Composer Lydia Ainsworth, and guttural pulse of "Python" provide tense codas to 'Salton Sea'.

Either spatial and seductive or frightening and macabre, 'Salton Sea' engages multiple moods, jarring the listener and bringing them deeper into it's shadowy pop. With remixes from Mark E, M.A.N.D.Y., Shlohmo, Salva, Kasper Bjørke, Suzanne Kraft and more, 'Salton Sea' looks to be one of the premiere electronic releases of 2012.

Ashley Beedle - Riders On The Storm / Eminence Front

After a couple of enchanted evenings in the company of guerilla dj and avid record collector Brian Morrison, the Modern Artifacts crew have been inspired to put together their next release which is two slabs of electronic badness for you vinyl fetishists.
A - Side: RIDERS ON THE STORM (YAMBEE !! REWORK) Ashley Beedle and Yam Who take the Annabel Lamb version of the Doors classic into dark, electronic territory. Original issued in 1983 - this sounds so now. One for those grimey basements and illegal jams.
B - Side: EMINENCE FRONT (A HEAVY DISCO JOINT) Now for those heads who might think 'what's this version of The Who's leftfield disco classic' take a deep breath. Ashley dubs out and extends a private pressing cut from a unknown London band, which was recorded back in the early eighties. A fine compliment to the A-side. Keep on tripping!

Bacalao & Sonne - Don't Stop Pushin

Finally on Vinyl: Bacalao & Sonne return to Kalimero with a three course menu pressed into the black gold. Their massive "Don't Stop Pushin EP" is keeping all its promises with two straight forward club tracks, both filled with soulful vocal lines driven by hard hitting synths. As one of their most beloved live tracks of the past months, Bacalao & Sonne are now releasing a true dancefloor treasure by bringing out "Pushin". The blasting synth line is growing throughout the track till it explodes in an athmospheric breakdown. "Don't Stop" comes along with this cheesy chant which is constantly competing with the synth chord harmony that is getting more and more dramatised and resonant throughout the song. The remix by the well-known dj -and producer team Kollektiv Ost (3000°) is much more deeper than the original and convinces through its incredible groovy bassline. The elements are the same but the duo's approach is completely different: a remix like it's meant to be.

Sinkane - Runnin' (daphni Remix)

Phonica Records inaugurate a new series of releases that will fall under the 'Special Editions' banner; a series that will feature collaborations, one-off releases and anything that doesn't fit into the main labels' outlook. The first release comes from Sinkane, a hotly tipped new artist from NY.

Sinkane is the project of Sudanese-born musician Ahmed Gallab. Gallab cut his own teeth as a youngster in the punk DIY landscape of middle America, and then found himself touring far and wide as a member of Yeasayer, Caribou, Eleanor Friedberger, Born Ruffians, and Of Montreal. He has emerged from it all as Sinkane, a project that identifies a renaissance within the space and spirit of the outposts of contemporary music. With an aesthetic range seamlessly shifting from soul to rock, and from jazz to pop, Sinkane's vibe is timeless and the sound is now.

Runnin' is a song taken from a collection of songs simply titled Mars. On this limited edition 12" from London's Phonica Records, the album version of Runnin' is re-imagined as an increasingly dense longburn club jam by Daphni (Dan Snaith of Caribou fame) and as a more angular headjam by Chandeliers of Chicago.

Baby Prince - I Wanna Squeeze You, Pillow Talk Rmx

One day while sharpening his hip-hop skills, the Prince sets up shop in his favorite studio; an oversized king bed in a pile of synthesizers, drum machines and keyboards. An abundance of classic samples overflowing with soulful fills inspired Baby Prince to record one of his most sensitive vocal messages to date. An ideas man, Baby Prince struggled to get the mix right and tight. So Lonely C swoops in, hits record and lays down the track in one clean shot. Ooohwee! 'I Want To Squeeze You' is born. The PillowTalk boys heard the new noise and accepted remix duties without question. Their results, The 'Phat Philly Remix,' is a timeless house version with a powerful vocal addition from Sammy D himself. Lace up yer raving kicks.

Various - Attack The Dancefloor Volume Two

Joey Negro is the most well-known pseudonym of master British DJ/producer/remixer Dave Lee. Under a plethora of other monikers including Jakatta, Akabu, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band, Sessomatto, and Z Factor, Dave was one of the first artists to incorporate disco samples in house music when he began his production career in 1988. Indeed, he was in the studio making credible and outstanding British House music when many luminaries around him were still busy getting to grips with their decks. In 2011 little has changed and Dave is widely regarded as one of the most commercially successful and in-demand artists on the global scene.

'WINGS' is taken from THE INVISIBLE's album 'RISPAH', and comes with an exquisite remix from Floating Points !
While the lead track from Mercury Nominated indie-electronic mopey types The Invisible is a goodun, our money's on the phenomenal remix from the ever on-form Floating Points. Taking the crunchy drum-machine rhythm, tape hiss and guitar jangle from the original, Sam Shepherd reconfigures the track into a near eight-minute opium opus, whimsical synths and all. Funnily enough Dave Okumu's haunting vocals sound even more focused here as Shepherd tranforms them into a ghostly memory, reframing them as a complex recollection of loss. It's harrowing and beautiful stuff

Woolfy Vs Projections - The Return Of Love

Californian duo Woolfy vs Projections has finally finished the flollow-up to their 2008 album 'The Astral Projections Of Starlight'. With its blend of psychedelic west coast rock, disco, balearic and hints to the likes of Bryan Ferry, Wings or david Crosby, 'The Return Of Love' is a source of pure excitement.
Simon James aka Woolfy emigrated from the rainy shores of the United Kingdom to sunny California around the same time the biggest beard of all disco beards, DJ Harvey, headed to the Golden State. Both share a particular passion for dirty disco 12's from 73 - 84, a bit of English punk, pub funk and booze and therefore it was only logical that the two began to cooperate in some fields : whether Harvey was playing in Woolfy's Bar or Simon was helping Harvey out in the studio for some of his remixes. Then Simon met his partner in crime, Dan Hastie, over ten years ago in a bar ( where else ) in Los Angeles and this is how they got acquainted: A pint Ay, a pint will do fine ... You make music, I make music, let's make music!

Teen Collection Hot Jam 96 - Various Artists

As the Visionquest imprint reaches release #15, it's still tough to pin point the labels signature sound. A melting pot of imagination and tastes for four of the globes most dynamic DJs, Visionquest brings together three fresh voices in music for the 'Teen Collection Hot Jam 96' - a sampler with an eclectic take on summer grooves.
Lauren Lane is the LA based artist who cut her teeth as a DJ on the New York house scene and Visionquest is proud to present the blossoming talent's outstanding debut featuring the inimitable Jaw (from dOP). Lauren's production career all began after Jaw dropped by the Cielo club in NYC when Lauren was on the bill with Seth Troxler. Catching Lauren's set and loving the style, the pair hit it off and soon started to collaborate in the studio. The resulting track, 'Lazer Eyez' is festival-friendly floor filler, combining a tough bassline with funky playful percussion, and lyrics that regale the haunting love spell of 'Lazer Eyez'. Expect more from Lauren including another Jaw collab and remix for Nic Fancuilli's 'Wild'.
Moving into deeper grooves, Ukrainian producer Qbeck delivers 'Alice' - a chugging roller courtesy of faint tribal drums and tension building before the dark brooding bassline takes hold and the clarity of the cool as ice vocals cut through the smoke. Vocalist Julia Govor was born in USSR Abhazia, grew up in Kuban and became a DJ in Moscow, also a producer but now focusing on being a singer and working with undiscovered talents.
Not so much a fresh face is Clarian from Footprintz, the duo that provided the glowing, sophomore release on Visionquest 'Utopia' back in March 2011 and has a highly anticipated album on the horizon. Third track of the EP 'All Over All Kinds' marks the beginning of Clarian's solo project. Extracting some of the whimsical flavor of the Footprintz otherworldly pop sound, 'All Over All kinds' packs more punch for the dancefloor with stomping claps and sub bass interplayed with Clarian's gothic vocals and meandering cosmic melodies
