It's a sizzling seven up for Moiss Music here as they draw together four different artists to offer up one cut each for this new various artists collection.

Boogietraxx goes heavy on the filter vibes on 'S N T' which is French touch disco-house of the highest order. Kellit's 'Pryscoks Sockin Socks' is all about sultry sax lines and loose-limbed disco house beats while C Da Afro gets heads up with the streaming sunshine synths of 'Don't Be Quiet.' Groovemasta shut down with the funky Afro-disco stylings of 'Gonna Make U Rock.'

Dj Jauche feat. Karat - Der blaue Planet

Blue Vinyl

Voila: "1982
the band Karat released their album "The Blue Planet". The one of the same name the single reached gold status (at that time) in East and West Germany and has just become a cult song in the former east of the country. 40 years later text and music have not lost their topicality. Reason enough for that Berliner, Oliver Marquardt aka Dj Jauche, with members of the band to put together and record the "Blue Planet" again. All traces were newly recorded, reconstructed and reassembled.
Marquardt first reconstructed a version based on the original in order to to be able to produce more mixes based on this. So for the first time there is one new recording of the song, with Claudius Dreilich as the vocal part, which since many years the role of frontman and singer on "Karat", from his father, has taken over.
"It was important to us the character of the Keeping the originals was one of the fundamental ideas behind the Reissue of the title."

Dam Swindle - Keep On Swindling pt. 1

Dam Swindle are back on Heist and coming in hot with a series of 3 releases in 2022 to celebrate a decade of Dam Swindle. The aptly titled ‘Keep on Swindling’ EP’s form a collection of classic DS tracks that have been re-engineered and remixed as well as new material from the Dutch duo. The first EP features two new originals, a stellar rework of ‘The Break Up’ by rising UK jazz star Emma-Jean Thackray and a 2022 mix of their 2014 hit: ‘64 Ways’ featuring Mayer Hawthorne.

The EP kicks off with ‘Body Control’: A fresh DS production that has all the elements in there to become their next club hit. A tight garage groove smothered in congas forms the basis for this track along with its deep repetitive bassline. It’s the musical elements that make this track really stand out though. There’s swinging offbeat synth hits, sample chops, lush pads and vibrant arpeggios building momentum for dancers to lose their sh*t (or their body control) to, every time this track is played.

‘The Break Up’ - originally part of the first release on Heist back in 2013 - has only been remixed once in that same year by Max Graef. The track now gets a full makeover courtesy of the amazingly talented Emma-Jean Thackray, who has been playing the original in her sets for since day one. Her version is loaded with newly recorded parts – vocals and horns included - and gives the original an amazing live jazz twist. This remix gave us some serious goosebumps when we first heard it. It’s in one word: essential!

On the flip, the duo offers a 2022 mix of their track ’64 Ways’ featuring Mayer Hawthorne. ‘64 Ways’ was originally released as part of their album Boxed Out in 2014 and was their first venture into vocal collaborations. None other than Mayer Hawthorne -a serious house-head himself- came over to Amsterdam to record the track and it was an instant hit. Now, with some new engineering done, the guys have dusted off their old project to great effect. The 2022 mix makes this track sound warm, powerful and well rounded, giving new life to this DS classic.

The final track of the EP is ‘All I want’; the second production on this record that sees Dam Swindle deliver a track that has ‘summer festival’ written all over it; synth stabs, diva vocals, acid lines and a huge breakdown included.

The ‘Keep on Swindling’ EP part 1 is the first outing of Dam Swindle in their anniversary year. A year that will be filled with curated events, headline shows, fan specials and most importantly, a lot of new music. As always, enjoy the music and we hope to see you on the dancefloor.

Keep on Swindling!

Yours sincerely,
Maarten & Lars

Alton Miller - Waitin 4 You

D3 Elements is an always cultured deep house label and so it is no surprise to find the great US producer Alton Miller has been recruited for a new EP. He has a richly musical sound and roots that go back decades, and it shows: 'Clone' is the sort of stylish backroom house that layers diffuse chords with dusty drums and cannot fail to warm the heart. 'All Of It' explores more broken and Afro-tinged drum patterns with golden Rhodes chords and astral leads. This top trio is completed with the funky kick patterns and perfect soulful vocals of 'Waitin 4 You'. Detroit mainstay Kevin Reynolds remixes it into a hypnotic Motor City roller.

DUST GATHERERS - Seaming To

Dust Gatherers

Seaming To

12inchOSINGATME001L
O SingAtMe
24.03.2023

When Bjork sang of an ‘Army of Me’, it evoked not just the powers she could summon if wronged, but also her multiplicity as an artist. That is still more the case with the enigmatic, dazzlingly versatile artist, Seaming To. Though working here mostly solo, she has the capacity of a full ensemble, not just in terms of her remarkable vocal range and multi-instrumental virtuosity, but in her ability to shapeshift effortlessly, to merge between genres, and change colour at will. Dust Gatherers is a unique achievement, an album of unclassifiable, magic-realist avant-pop. Drawing on and alluding to classical, jazz, blues, pop, and electronica, Dust Gatherers always wears its eclecticism weightlessly, airily, dreamily... Beguiling, evocative, emotionally fraught, but never putting a foot wrong, Dust Gatherers is an Army of Her.

To manifest Seaming To’s singular vision, Dust Gatherers is assisted in part by critically acclaimed guest musicians: Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford (slide guitar and electronic effects), Homelife’s Matthew Batty (violin), Justin Lingard (viola) and Paddy Steer (double bass, pedal steel guitar), Olivia Moore (violin), and Semay Wu (cello). The album begins with ‘AnOverture’, which feels like a portal into Seaming’s dreamworld. Imagine entering a wormhole, the nightworld of Charles Ives’ ‘Central Park in the Dark’, perhaps a dark corridor of glistening chimes, before processed strings – deep and consoling – rise to a reverberant crest, then fall in an elegant heap. This is a place full of love and longing. ‘Blessing’ affirms this, with its wish for us to be conferred “in our sleep with rest/in our dreams with vision/in our waking with a calm mind...” It’s a prayer, laden with all the qualities for which it asks. Set against a simple, but heavenly choral see-saw, To overlaps herself, with overdubs and harmonies, ascending into the upper register and splitting up into several beings. ‘Tousles’ follows, occupying an ethereal realm between the real and the processed, the pure and the synthesised, the minimal and the voluptuous, an arpeggiated weave of silk, metal and plastic. There are hints of The Associates’ Billy Mackenzie in the soulful Sturm and Drang of her vocals – silvery, Busby Berkeley magical. ‘Brave’, meanwhile, sees her sub-divide once again into multiple voices – spectral, supernatural, a Brothers Grimm fairy tale etched in keyboards.

On ‘Traveller’, there are strong hints of the solitude of her project, the journey she undertakes through her fertile imagination, with only her own echo and overdub for company. With ‘Water Flows’ that journey takes a faintly sinister turn, with intimations of the nocturnal river scene in Charles Laughton’s Night Of The Hunter. And then there’s 'xenanmax', a quite unexpected instrumental interlude. Abstract, metallic, it’s like a piece of machinery in the process of assembling, or perhaps disassembling itself. It makes way for the fulsome ‘Hitchhiker’, a thing of candelabra elegance, chamber orchestral. There are faint echoes of Kate Bush in the way that it swoops with a sort of doomed, emotional recklessness, before briefly threatening to morph into Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’, before another door opens to reveal a glittering trove of musical detail. ‘Look Away’ proceeds to the muted, eerie tones of funeral parlour music, its lyrical narrative unfolding over a splintered, glitchy backbeat. But then, on ‘Pleasures Are Meaningless’ – as if now fully awake – Seaming resorts to the lucidity of an untreated piano, addressing us with the melancholic intimacy of a torch song, or a Chet Baker reverie. She seems to question the very nature of her enterprise, beautiful as it is, but hankering exquisitely in vain. Finally, there’s ‘Tenderly’, on which woodwinds sway gently, buffeted by static interference. A concluding, uneasy calm. Dust Gatherers is a brilliant album which reveals its myriad charms immediately, but not all of its secrets, or the depths of its interior world, rewards that come with further, repeated listenings.

Tr One - From The Studio Of EP1

Landing this summer is a fantastic body of work from talented Irishman, Tr One, and quite notably the inaugural release on his own “Intrinsic Rhythm” label. His debut album “From The Studio Of” is a masterpiece that maneuvers between innovative strains of deep house, spaced out electro, and discerning mellow techno; the studio album spans across fourteen tracks including an acid tinged remix from, Cignol, and some stellar input from, Mihail P. Continuously inspired by the greats, and drawing influence from an array of sounds of the past whether that be, Chicago, Detroit and beyond, Tr One has now found himself with a cohesive series of tracks that speaks with power and creativity, and will see the light of day on both 2 x seperate 12” EP's and digital.

The first EP cruises into “Pitchshift” a deep, and melodic Detroit beatdown influenced trip featuring the vocals of Elaine Dowling. “Turning Point” drifts you up a notch, emotional synths breathe life into the crisp drum arrangements, but never getting carried away. The intelligently constructed “I’m Dreaming Again” sways gently in the realms of the after hours, hypnotic and captivating sounds from the Carlow based producer. Maintaining the enigmatic mood is “Stay Offline” a distinctive bassline drives the track allowing the other elements to converse peacefully. Cignol’s remix of “Turning Point” brings a new acid dynamic to the album, squelchy lines bounce around tidy drum work.

Laurent Garnier - The album is GREAT …. BRAVO Mister

Ben UFO - Thanks Eddie, sounds great as usual!

Kerri Chandler - Spaces And Places LP 3x12"

24

repressed !

House music icon Kerri Chandler unveils his first album in 14 years, Spaces and Places, a global celebration of club and sound system culture, meticulously created by the New Jersey producer/DJ over several years on location at twenty-two of the world’s most distinguished nightclubs. Each track built on the spaces individual relationship with Kerri, often through decades of live shows or appearances, and in the process capturing unique rhythmic and emotional nuances.

Written and performed with a temporary studio on the centre of each dance floor, this jaw dropping 3 x 12” album in a stunningly designed tri-fold picture sleeve complete with hand signed A2 poster insert (first 500 only), showcases Kerri at his finest. Taking in never before heard tracks, versions and mixes separate to the four samplers that preceded it, this incredible body of work and concept has seen the album submitted for two Grammy awards.

As one of dance music’s most respected and authentic figures, Kerri Chandler is a true originator of his genre, with an impeccable discography and signature sound to match. He has unquestionably helped to shape house music’s positive outlook over the last 30 years. Not only from the DJ booth and studio, but also as an A&R via his Kaoz Theory label which has worked with contemporary talents like Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers. Now, Kerri Chandler is set to release a carefully rendered and truly unique body of work. Spaces and Places will undoubtedly be seen as a timeless tribute that underscores the originality that has kept him as one of the most in-demand artists for so many years.

“The first time I stepped into a nightclub was with my father as a child. I saw the magic of what a club space could sound and feel like as my Dad set up the DJ equipment at The Rallye Racquet Club. Hearing the power of those huge Altec Lansing "Voice of the Theater" Speakers and Horn-loaded JBL subwoofers fascinated me! In the late 80s, I was spoiled sonically by playing on several Richard Long Sound Systems around New York and New Jersey. This is why ever since I first ventured away from home, I have been infamous with my soundchecks at any space I have performed in. I make sure, with the help of the engineers in these “Spaces and Places”, many I have known most of my career, to get the best from each system. Each sound system is unique to each venue, even if it's the same type of gear, because of the physical space. And when you add the right audience to that specific nightclub, it comes to life! The club owners and engineers were gracious enough to let me take over each club and turn each venue, into a recording studio. I wanted to express the love of what could be possible in capturing my productions in the venue, from the heart of each space, right on the dance floor and I translate it onto this album, which I created over the course of 4 years and 24 venues later. I hope you enjoy this journey as I have. I present to you: "Spaces and Places".

With Love, Respect and Admiration.” – Kerri Chandler

Devil Dee feat. Joan Faulkner (aka Dee-Vah) - And The Beat Goes On

Retro house sounds from Italy on this release... tunes that still go down well with some of the big name festival dj's during their summer tour! A track that remained unpublished for 33 years until Devil Dee decided to make it public and bring his own voice to the spotlight joined by jazz-blues singer Joan Faulkner (former supporting voice of Boney M and Milli Vanilli, also known by her stage name 'Dee-Vah'). Devil Dee is Davide Mancori - a cinematograph with a flattering career as a club-dj from 80s-90s onwards - who lovingly produced this release which differs from most of the releases on Best Record by its housey vibe. 'And The Beat Goes On' was written in Germany in 1989 by Leonie Gane and Ryan Paris laying the crucial foundations for an evolutionary step of the italian disco music. A step forward for the 'Italo' movement considered obsolete and defunct. In fact, the track is also referring to the latest Italo-Disco which entirely covered the scene of the 1980s with furious activity, If the meeting between Devil Dee and the famous interpreter of 'Dolce Vita' - Mister Ryan Paris - creates the alchemy, the explosive mix is completed with the precious work of Marco Magrini. The arrangement by Pierluigi Cerin and the executive work of Claudio Casalini close the magic circle. Five friends and a great singer from Indiana to fill the dance floors all over Europe, while the images of the provocative and surreal video-clip capture the audience by splitting in two. There are those who do not want to see certain issues publicized and those who appreciate their cheekiness, such as Best Record which by publishing the vinyl printed at 180 grams celebrates the 40 years of activity.

Fabrice Lig - The Mental Bandwith 3x12"

Fabrice Lig has melody running through his veins. On his quest to explore his deep love for the bitter-sweet yearning of Motor City techno, his tracks transcend trends. Over his three-decade spanning career he has refined his blend of soul-infused dance music to striking effect. His gift for a catchy hook is unmatched. His new studio album "The Mental Bandwidth" shows his musical range as a producer once again. On the album's twelve tracks, he effortlessly traverses, cosmic house, funkified techno and electronica, combining his trademark quirky melodies with playful songwriting and dance floor focused beats. The album format is giving Lig enough space to explore his musical ideas from different directions while staying true to the overall atmosphere. "The idea for the album was to go back to the fundamentals of the original Detroit sound and to find new ways of expressing that soul in my music - as I've been doing for years", explains Lig. With Ann Saunderson and the former Kraftwerk-member Wolfgang Flur, the album features two heavy-weight collaborations that connect the "The Mental Bandwidth" to Detroit's musical legacy, too. Slikk Tim aka Garry Grittness also has a cameo in the form of a funky bassline on "Healing", the pop-infused Ann Saunderson collaboration. The title of the album is inspired by Lig's lecture of Sendhil Mullainathan and Eldar Shafir book "Scarcity: Why Having So Little Means So Much" which explores new approaches to reduce poverty. "The authors discovered that the mental bandwidth of poor people is sometimes really low because of short term issues they are facing and are forced to solve", explains Lig. Those issues are reducing the mental bandwidth for long term thinking capacities, which in turn has consequences for the decision making process. An example: before the quality of education of poor kids is increased, the quality of life they have must be increased. This increases the capacities of the kids to learn more than solely better educational programs.

The Baby Steps open with the crystalline innocence of Jacob’s Divine and conclude with the smooth primordial bubblings of Origin of Species.

The Grand Gestures begin with the harnessed dark energy of Feed Your Eye. Sensuous chills and thrills continue with Thousand Fingers, and Last Dance completes the narrative in some romantic sci-fi ballroom.

AK - Say That You Love Me 7"

RSD Black Friday 2022 Repress

Japanese singer-songwriter-producer Akemi Kakihara, better known as AK, is a huge star in her native country—where she's released 15 albums, many topping the charts, along with writing & producing for many other artists as well. Her first album featured a collaboration with close friend Brazilian pianist and composer Eumir Deodato—but she's probably most recognized internationally for Her composition 'Say That You Love Me,' originally a jazzy ballad, was remixed by Francois K and Eric Kupper in 2001 and released on New York label King Street Sounds. The remix soon became a staple at Body & Soul in both New York and Japan, ultimately topping the dance charts around the world and emerging as the top house anthem in Japan over the next decade—as well as becoming King Street Sounds' all time biggest seller. (The song wasn't the only success story to bloom from this project: visiting Body & Soul for the first time in 2001 to meet Francois K and see and hear the crowd's reaction to the remix, when she also met DJ and party co-founder Danny Krivit. A romance between them blossomed, they married in 2008, and continue to reside in NYC.)

With 7' vinyl singles currently enjoying a renaissance, Krivit suggested AK revisit the landmark track to do another re-work of 'Say That You Love' for Most Excellent Unlimited, something noticeably different from the original. AK's new version of her signature tune retains her silky vocal refrain that first seduced listeners, but adds a bubbly keyboard melody and a propulsive snare kick that turns it into a dance floor stomper. Krivit then edited down her new production and the Francois K mix for the first time on 7" release; he felt the song's King Street hit remix arrangement was very strong, so he did his best to maintain it's hit arrangement within the restrictions of a 5:30 min format for the flip side of the single. The result is a must-own 7' that sounds both classic and contemporary at the same time.

Jose Chinga - Tree House Rhythms

Endangered Musique kicks off with a high-quality reissue of an EP that deep house heads will either already know or soon grow to love. It was written by Jose Chinga in 1994 and is an alias of an artist better known as Brothers' Vibe aka Tony Rodriguez. The opening tune 'Love Is What You Need' is also the most well-known - it's US garage with low-slung drums and grainy pad work with a simple but effective vocal. 'I Got You' picks up the pace with shuffling drums and a grinding lead before the warm 90s house sounds come to the fore again on 'Let It Go' and 'Riding On A Cloud'. Lovely stuff.

Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray - Sanba Yo Pran Pale (DJ Koze Remix)

Anjunadeep warmly welcomes DJ Koze for his Anjunadeep debut with his remix of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s ’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’.
A pioneer of electronic music and one of the scene’s most respected tastemakers, DJ Koze has released on Kompakt, Get Physical, Yo Mama, and his own reputable imprint, Pampa Records. His album ‘Knock Knock’ came 3rd on Pitchfork’s best albums of 2018, whilst his
single ‘Pick Up’ was name by Resident Advisor and MIXMAG as the best track of that same year. He has remixed the likes of The Gorillaz, Mount Kimbie, Caribou, Moderat, Apparat, and Underworld, and headlined festivals and clubs around the world.

A celebrated remixer, DJ Koze is known for his eclectic and refreshing musical approach. His take on ’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is no different. DJ Koze reimagines the traditional Vodou song as a summer dance anthem, warping and stretching the original vocals from Lakou Mizik’s
Sanba Zao onto a bed of catchy rhythmic synths and warm enveloping bass. Ten minutes long, the original mix has a nostalgic analogue warmth that feels perfect for an Indian summer’s day. To celebrate the release, Anjunadeep is pressing a limited run of white label vinyl.

’Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is the first track off Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s album ‘Leave the Bones’, and is a traditional Haitian song steeped in vodou tradition: "The Sanbas are the poets and keepers of Haitian history and culture. They pass on their wisdom through song and story.

‘Sanba Yo Pran Pale’ is an invitation to the Sanbas to speak their truth whilst paying respect to the vodou ‘Lwa’ or spirits."
‘Leave the Bones’ has accrued 1M streams on Spotify and Apple Music, and has garnered a wealth of global support from the tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, NPR, The
Times, Billboard, Crack Magazine, Mixmag, Songlines, The New York Times, and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. It is out now, available digitally and as a 2xLP.

Be With Records
15.04.2019

2018 REISSUE - REMASTERED 2LP COLOURED VINYL (1 ORANGE / 1 PINK) W/BONUS TRACK "PARALLEL LIVES" (FIRST TIME VINYL APPEARANCE)

A singular presence in 21st Century pop, Róisín Murphy is a genuine maverick. Her seminal 2007 album Overpowered received widespread acclaim from music critics yet, arriving at a time of waning major label interest in vinyl, it was released only as a hyper-limited double LP. Accordingly, in the decade since, it has been obscenely difficult to find. It is a true honour to finally reissue this thoroughly modern dance-pop classic on Be With. Whilst remaining true to the loud pink and orange wax of the original release, this remastered edition enjoys the bonus inclusion of fan-favourite "Parallel Lives", finally making an appearance on vinyl.

A sumptuous, all-killer electro-disco gem, every song could've been a smash. With its heavy disco influence - deep beats, lush synths and subtle horns and strings - Overpowered was focused solely on the dancefloor. Inspired by the Eighties proto-house of D Train, Mantronix and Gwen Guthrie, but also recalling the intelligent pop of Yazoo and early Eurythmics, Overpowered presented sensual electronic soul for the heads and the hips.

Her collaborators, including Timbaland mentor Jimmy Douglass, Bugz In The Attic and Richard X, constructed a gleaming shrine to the spirit of Bobby O and Giorgio Moroder by stitching together crisp synthesised beats with the slicker tics of early house. The lead single and title track lifted the bassline squelch from the dawn of cosmic disco -- La Bionda's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" -- and the follow-up, "Let Me Know", effortlessly incorporated the chorus of Tracy Weber's 1981 boogie bomb "Sure Shot".

The wonderfully dank, sticky R&B of "Primitive" is Murphy's favourite track from the album: "I mean, who gets to put primordial soup in the first line of a song That idea of not always being in control of the primitive parts of yourself, the bits that fall in love or the bits that dance or lose the plot or drink too much, and putting that across that's pop for me. It's playing with all the different colours of the rainbow of life."

Murphy's blistering vocals are versatile enough to elevate the icy textures of "Dear Miami", the sexed up kaleidoscopic funk of "Footprints" and the grace of "You Know Me Better". Sharp, witty and heartbreaking, here Murphy laid claim to being the kind of strident disco singer "Dusty Springfield never quite had the abandon to become", as Pitchfork noted in their original, glowing "8.0" review.

Overpowered was considered an instant classic and, sounding deeply prescient, it has aged gloriously. There has long been an acknowledgement of Murphy's influence on other artists' gonzo fashion, and many musicians have spent the last decade crafting dancefloor tracks that embrace piano house and disco, even if they'd pale when held next to "Let Me Know". Shifting from the glam pop of "Movie Star" to the buzzing acid of "Cry Baby", when the dubby ballad for her dad, "Scarlet Ribbons", wends its way to the sweetest of endings, you realise you've been immersed in the best grown-up dance-pop album since Madonna's Ray of Light.

Ricoshei, Dave Dk - Perfect Like You, Woolloomooloo

Our first release of 2014 is a split 12 featuring a newcomer act and a veteran name, both new to the Pampa circle, and both of whom manage to adhere to our sound while at the same time widening it. Ricoshëi is Nikko Gibler and Jake Patrick, based out of Hitland Studios in Los Angeles. 'Perfect Like You' is one more pop-tinged numbers to appear on our label, with breathy vocals yearning for the next best thing, sublimated by the ambient tendencies glowing in the track's atmosphere. For all their rampant, nerdy analog fetishization, the duo still knows that emotion-not fancy gear-is the key to connecting with listeners. Hardcore Pampa followers might recognize this one, as DJ Koze previewed it late last year in his XLR8R podcast, and now you, too, have the opportunity to snuggle up with your very own copy. This is the kind of song that makes you want to close your eyes, not to sleep, but to abandon perception to your ears alone - fuelling your heart's imagination. The flipside is a new cut from Berlin-based DJ/producer Dave DK, short for his real name, David Krasemann, which sounds a bit like 'crazy man". And those already familiar with his work know he's got a bit of that madness-bordering-on-genius thing going on. OK, maybe that's an overstatement, but 'Woolloomooloo' speaks for itself. Just have a listen and submerge yourself into this majestic cyborg aquarium of a track, and within moments you'll feel the hypnotic, euphoric, nostalgic and anti-ageing qualities. Side effects may include dizziness. (But probably only if you are standing on the vinyl while it's spinning.) What a start into 2014!!

Kerri Chandler - Spaces And Places LP 3x12" NO COVER

24

first 500 will be hand signed by Kerri himself

ALMA - Mother

Alma

Mother

12inchDMU091
Definition:Music
21.03.2022

Following up to their acclaimed "Hold" EP from last year, German duo Alma reemerge on Definition with their new transmission, "Mother". Through four cuts dropping anchor down the most remote nooks of our dance-friendly galaxy, Alma move the cursor from proper floor-focused 4x4 grooves to kosmische-informed pop excursions with dextrous style and seamless elegance. Crafting their own blend of emotionally whelming club music, it's material primed for extended use whether you are sitting on some high-rise, towering rooftops at sunrise or enjoying a freeze-dried cocktail on Alpha Centauri. Presented in both original version and remix form courtesy of label head Definition himself, title-track "Mother" is the epitome of a slo-burner, rolling at low speed but gaining tension, weight and impactfulness as it runs. Circuits sizzling and piano stabs blazing, Alma dish out a compelling sample of their cross-dimensional wares, sure to take any dancefloor in the zone without further ado. Definition's Remix revamp trades the original's steady swing for a further syncopated, newbeat-infected swagger, laying further emphasis on the synth leads and lashing drumwork as poetic, bleached-out pads keep painting the sky all shades of pastel. A more Italo-inflected affair at first, the tear-jerking "Lost In The Stars" has us gliding in a parallel universe of its own, where epic-sized synth combers and muscular bass onslaughts avalanche over brittle lines of soft-tongued vocals. As concretely submerging as it is designed to trigger off deep emotional response from the ravers, this one is tailored to weave instant communion between the jockey and his audience. Flinging in the breaks and cross-cutting delays, Kiel outfit Avidus shift the angle of approach towards harder, faster EBM firepower, binding their rowdy, FX-soaked chords with the chorus to create a wholly distinct dancing and listening experience.

Lose Yourself EP

12inchPALOMA007
Paloma
07.11.2022

We would like to present Paloma's seventh release: Tom feat. Rose - Lose Yourself EP
Throughout club music history, the combination of vocals and groove remains a vital element. Countless anthems have prompted singing on the floor, and have raised arms in the air. There might have been times where vocals mattered less, but right now they are probably more needed than ever.
Tom & Rose are well aware of all that, and they were willing to place themselves and their music in a tradition of dancefloor euphoria, universal messages and also a bit of bittersweetness.
Tom is a DJ, producer and mix engineer, and also a booker and resident at Paloma. Rose is an Irish singer and producer. Together they created these tunes, a testament to better times gone and ahead."How Wrong" is the sound of heartbreak, albeit locked in a UKG tinged sureshot that swings back and forth with ease between jubilant piano bliss and monolithic bass weight, and it kicks like a mule. "Lose Yourself" is both an ageless acid slam and a joyful paean dedicated to all nights that should never end. There is a pumping dub too,
equally designed to be the soundtrack to blowing a nocturnal kiss to everyday sorrows.
Also included: complementary remixes by Eluize and Massimiliano Pagliara that come up with a different take, but a similar vision.
Enjoy the music, and stay safe!

Kings Of Tomorrow - I Want You (for Myself)

Taking a step back from packed Yoshi Classics, we've decided to keep it simple with this one, Kings of Tomorrow's I Want You For Myself. This tune needs no introduction; it's a vocal powerhouse that had dancers singing along worldwide in the summer of 98. Now it returns with a remix from none other than Yoshitoshi label boss Sharam. His remix keeps the classic house spirit of the original alive, but has modernized it with a crushing bass line and Sharam's trademark, whooshing sound effects, with big builds and swell which gradually control's the energy of the song as Julie McKnight's giant vocals repeat those classic lines.
The original has been remastered by the renowned guys at RB mastering, giving it the depth and boost. You know when a song gets in your head and it won't let go Sometimes to the point of annoyance Well, that's what happened to me the first day I heard KOT's I Want You For Myself, except it never got annoying. It got better with time. It stayed sweet and powerful and inspiring — year after year after year. 18 years running I still consider it one of the best Yoshitoshi signings and a true house classic. So when we decided to take on this behemoth project of updating the Yoshitoshi Classics, as part of celebrating 20 years of releasing music that goes beyond categorization, I always knew which one I wanted to reinterpret. It was always Sandy Rivera & Jay Sinister Saelee's (Kings Of Tomorrow) I Want You (For Myself) featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Julie McKnight.
A seminal record that defined soulful house music for years to come, I hope I've done it justice 18 years later.
Sharam.
