Full-picture Sleeve 12" EP

Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records invites Mennie for his first solo release of 2019, featuring two spacey cuts in the form of ‘Proxima’.

Joining Moscow Records following releases on Poker Flat, Infuse and Rawax, Mennie is a regular DJ at Florence’s Tenax Club when not performing across Europe including appearances in the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Alongside Julien Sandre, the Italian producer is also one half of Jarau and together they’ve released on labels like One Records, Visionquest and Pleasure Zone.

Kicking things off, ‘Proxima’ injects acid squelches into an atmospheric background which builds to include a wonky bassline laced with echoing distorted vocals. Flip over and ‘Do That’ utilizes a similar otherworldly aesthetic, with metallic effects, electronic bleeps and rattling drum patterns, all guided by a funk infused bass.

Project Runaway brings together two of Tel Aviv's new breed of talented DJ / producers in a meeting of tripped out, expansive, psychedelic, club music. Landing on Especial to expand horizons is Met, their debut EP of deep, percussive dubs for late night tribes. A name on many leftfield lips, Alek Lee's journey continues following two acclaimed solo releases for the wonderful Antinote crew and new project, Shame On Us (alongside Naduve and Yovav Arzi) for that brightest star, Hivern Discs. Teaming up with the sound production skills of Stephan Bazbaz they create Project Runaway. Holding down his own citywide residencies, Bazbaz has developed a studio mastery of minimal dub, crispy house and trippy techno via a growing stream releases on numerous labels, as well as setting up his own No Wave records in 2016. After their welcoming, simple, yet wall quacking remix of Persian (EES031), Met, or 'dead' in Hebrew, bring their strands together as one sound. In original form, a vibrating drum takes on bass backbone is broadened with tight layers of percussion overtones and warped vocal interplay. Lee's psychedelic imaginings are a perfect fit across Bazbaz's wide production expanse, before horns raise the heat to extreme. For deeper DJs and big system dwellers, Met (Dub) does as it should, stripping away and opening wide. Hand percussion and vox ride the channels, coming in and out of the mix, while dub stabs transfix and could run for days. A meeting of minds, drums, psychedelics and pure club love.

London based House label Inermu brings the fourth in their Vinyl Only series in the form of this 4 track VA.

Since launching back in 2017, London label NorthSouth Records has released a quartet of EPs showcasing tracks from the likes of Christian Jay, Bilal, Rob Amboule and Henry Hyde. Here they return for the first time in 2019 with another action-packed, multi-artist extravaganza. Voigtmann kicks things off via the deep space chords, funky electronic motifs and intergalactic tech-house grooves of "Separation Attitude", before The PGA offers up a bass-heavy peak-time roller rich in retro-futurist riffs, watery electronics and crispy drums. Label regular Chris Geschwindner opens up side B with an attractive blend of two-step garage grooves and spacey tech-house melodies, while Henry Hyde delivers the synth-bass-propelled, electro fired melodiousness of "Hello Spcshp".

Unscene has lifted the veil with their second 12-inch vinyl release - 'Think EP'. 'Think'- the manifestation of label artist RazV in collaboration with Autralian singer song writer Newshoes features three tracks, including reworks from artists Nici Frida (Germany) & Guanlong (Bulgaria). Compositions transformed into meditations- 'Think' creates moments of insight & introspection as universal truths of consciousness are expressed from a juxtapose of audible perspectives.

Newcastle via London label Jaunt Records revisits its 10 year anniversary EP from 2017 with a series of great remixes by Inland, Jonas Kopp, Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff and Stojche. This is the first of two EPs planned, and it offers up a timeless mix of heady techno and slick electro.
Berlin based Brit Inland tackles Jaunt resident Blackhall & Bookless's 'Spirit' and serves up a heavyweight wedge of warehouse techno. On the same side, Jonas Kopp flips 'Itria' into a sci-fi tinged bit of dub techno and long time studio partners Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff from Indigo Aera offer widescreen synth work and blissed out pads all tethered to rolling and rubbery drums. Stojche's take on Gian's track is a fantastically crisp and futurist piece of electro that will get anyone on their toes. This is a classy EP that showcases the sort of sounds you will hear on any Jaunt dance floor.

As the name say, weightless without any weight, following this philosophy the two guys delivered three original tracks ranging in between dance floor groove and space melody how we like it. Henry Hyde (bad ass Harry McCanna's alter ego) made a perfect UK garage, break style rework of the B1 to complete the EP.

The third vinyl slab starts with a mega minimal-house jacking bomb by Martinez... groovy, sexy and full of swinging drums. Jorge Savoretti's has a sick boogie bassline counterbalanced with ethereal atmospheres, an essential track for any modern dancefloor. On the last side of this triple pack we have Mariano, who managed to balance elastic percussions, hypnotic melodies and of course, a killer funky bass. B2 is a mega space bomb by the talented Guti, who this time joined forces with Livio & Roby. Together they've built a super spatial driving track with a subby bassline that will blow any sound system.

Tamango Records' fifth release delivers a pure Italian-heat collaboration between label boss Yaya and Alex Ground (Desolat / Kina Music). The fellow Turin based producers and longtime friends Yaya and Alex join forces for 'Rough Side', a 4 tracker EP enriched by a remix from Inkal honcho Ben Rau.

The opening track is called 'Rough Side' and has been a stable weapon in Yaya's sets since its first appearance at the Desolat boat party during WMC in Miami last year. As the title suggests, it's a peak-time roller with a shaking bassline that flows under rattling hits and toms. Some old tape vocals and drum fill find their place into the break, just before an unexpected 'party-starting' old school synth marks this track as one of the summer anthems to get any dance floor moving.

Remix duties are handled to Fuse London regular Ben Rau who has recently launched his own 'Inkal' and sister-label 'Meta', storming the charts release after release.

The B side kicks off with 'You Know The Unknown' where the boys go deeper and deeper, creating a majestic tech house groove with sharp and rubbery hi-hats, raw percussions and fluttering snares all rolling into one. The result is an intense and introspective trip full of light pads and dense synths, all together for another club gem.

Closing the EP is 'Night Wings', seven deep and warm minutes of the finest house music. Again, the title itself perfectly describes the track, where subtle and spaced synths and shuffling drums turn this one into a hypnotic warm-up mood.

Electronic veteran Hermanez for the JWB020 Jesus Was Black release, presents one of his most direct and intense works to date with a killer remix by Chasing Blondes. False Flag keeps you guessing, with its astonishing beats, gradually building on a head-nodding rhythmic backbone with incessant swathes of funk-fuelled bass, before drawing in hazy reversed piano patterns. It flows from a strong impactive sound to a deep and contemplating sound effect, making it a beautifully subtle piece of work.

Chasing Blondes´ boys make the perfect remix on False Flag EP, by sticking to the deep exquisite flow of the original, but at the same time adding a little more of an adrenaline rush with key percussion beats, building infectiously as the track goes on via shimmering pads and creaky FX.

For our 13th release we turn to new kid on the block Justin Pak. With a string of forthcoming releases on the likes of Hoarder and What You Want, Justin is quickly proving to be hot property. His music has been supported by the likes of Priku, Rhadoo, Burnski, IO Mulen and many more, showing that even at such a young age he is a force to be reckoned with. For remixes we turn to Russian based Swoy, who delivers a pumping rework sure to find its way into many sets. Finally Label owner Niko Maxen steps in again for remix duties finishing off the EP dreamy interpretation of Justin's original.

Two well crafted space adventures from two long time collaborators.

Label boss Michael McLardy joins forces with Newcastle based Moonlit Vision (What's Nxt/Tough Luck) to present 14 minutes of blissed out house on the A side of their collaborative 'Third Mind EP'. An ideal soundtrack to end the Summer months.

The B side sees the duo provide a remix of Michael's original track 'Pilot', delivered in their trademark sound. Released on vinyl only.

Sixth release comes from our good friend Akyra with his 'Mind Blow' EP, which includes a remix from Parisian maestro Mancini! Massive support on this one from the likes of Nick Beringer, Arapu, Seb Zito, Rossko, Subb-An, Diego Krause and more

SlapFunk Records turns 7 this year and with all celebration comes a slick release as well. For this one we invited some familiar faces like SE62, Ferro, Malin Genie, Lopaski but also usual suspects William Caycedo and Pascal Benjamin delivered the rawness. Last but not least our brothers Ingi Visions (Samuel Deep & Julian Alexander) and JAMM (Julian Alexander & Mauro Moreno) finishing the line up.
