Kasper Bjørke returns with an exquisite new album, 'After Forever', the Danish producer's boldest and most elegant statement to date. The scene has been set by two lead singles: 'Rush' featuring Tobias Buch - and 'Sylvia' featuring CTM. Moving away from previous 70s disco inspired sound, Kasper explores new terrain in contemporary, melancholic synth pop; his productions merging themselves into a multi coloured soundscape with echoes from Post Disco/Punk, Kraut and New Wave. 'After Forever is good for dark, sad dancing - or a headphone journey inwards' says Kasper 'I feel like I really went somewhere else on this album, to a place where I haven't been before. Out of my safety zone and into a darker space".

Stian Gjevik (EOD,CN), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a Trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music "Sports/Tools". He contacted one of the two composers called Dildrian Schrodinger. He has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with WeMe records. We can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980's. It is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.

For well over a decade, singer songwriter Colonel Red has been releasing quality soul music that gazes into the future while keeping a foot in the past. A pioneer of the broken beat scene, Colonel Red has applied his rich, honeyed tones to a huge array of releases and, with his debut EP on Apollo Records, he provides three emotionally charged future soul classics.
Colonel Red's career has been one lived in reverse: he began his journey courted by major labels and being flown out to the states before pulling away and starting afresh as an independent underground artist, with the freedom to produce his own work and pursue his own style and niche. Since then he's collaborated with an enviable roster of artists from across the spectrum: including soul greats such as Anita Baker, Teddy Pendergrass and Keith Sweat as well as the cream of modern futurists such as IG culture and Ursula Rucker.
Here, standout track SpaceFace sounds like D'Angelo produced by 'Donuts' era Dilla, and throughout it's four and a half minutes of bumpy, driving funk Colonel Red illustrates exactly why he has such a revered status within the underground soul scene - the songwriting, production and vocal delivery are all from the top drawer. The term fizzing synths is overused and often inaccurate but here that's exactly what they are, woozily oscillating and pushing the addictive funk into outer space.
Sleepers begins with a deep, laid back spoken word intro, sounding almost like a lost Tricky track, before a jazz bass riff, distorted guitar and gentle, spooked synth stab form the backdrop for the Colonel's elastic, soul drenched vocal which culminates in the hooky repeated incantation of the chorus 'Something got a hold of me', a line which burns it's way into the memory almost instantaneously.
Rounding off with the slower, sultry pace of Soulriding, Colonel Red once again shows off his vocal dexterity against a musical canvas that recalls both early Timberland productions and the disconcerting harmonic structure of Prince at his strangest, with synth strings sucked backwards providing an exotic, almost eerie tension.
Having recently released his third solo LP on Tokyo Dawn records Colonel Red is one of those rare artists whose appeal crosses over into myriad different scenes, and with this outstanding release on Apollo, he is sure to advance that reach further still.

No.19 Music teams up with super talented musician, songwriter, DJ & producer Derrick Boyd AKA Tone of Arc for a new single that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the label and artist...

Tone of Arc is the new moniker from Derrick Boyd the multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer who has been creating such a stir after his recent performances at the No.19 Social Experiment events at BPM in Mexico and WMC in Miami and with his forthcoming remix for Visionquest. His marriage of inspiring production/songwriting and truly unique live/dj performances make him a very exciting prospect as anyone who has caught him live can testify to. Now he is set to distil all of this into an album for his friends at No.19, and as an early taster of that, we have here his debut single 'Shaking the Sky / No Pushers'.

The A side track 'Shaking the Sky' is a superb bass driven slice of dark house that weaves eighties tinged synth work and rolling drums with the wonderfully contrasting vocals of Boyd & partner Zoe Presnick. This is an instant late night anthem and surely set to become one of the biggest No.19 records to date: it's easy to see why this has been a staple in Art Department Dj sets for the last year.

The flipside sees Boyd shift down a gear with the sublime & laidback 'No Pushers', a track that was debuted during Jonny White & Shaun Reeves set at the Legendary Sacbe Jungle party in Playa Del Carmen earlier this year. The record melds a brilliant warm bassline, layers of hypnotic pads and a shuffling drum section to create the perfect base for his ethereal vocals. This is a wonderfully accompaniment to the driving energy of 'Shaking the Sky' and shows the rich diversity of the Tone of Arc sound.

Tone of Arc and No.19 are a perfect pairing with Derrick Boyd and Jonny White working closely together on the forthcoming album, an album that is set to show the depth and breadth of Boyd's work as he ventures beyond the dancefloor and delivers an LP that is rumoured to be a defining piece of electronic music.
