Der französisch-englische Nu-Reggae-Künstler Flox bespielt als Solo-Act seit etwa acht Jahren unzählige
europäische Clubs und Bühnen. Mit viel Flow und einer gelungenen Mischung aus Roots Reggae und einer
erheblichen Prise Electro hat sich Flox in der Szene einen guten Ruf erarbeitet. Er selbst sieht sich stark von
der jamaikanischen Kultur beeinflusst und nennt Bands von Linton Kwesi Johnson über The Police bis hin zu
aktuelleren Acts wie Fat Freddy's Drop als Vorbilder. Seit seinem Karriereantritt hat Flox vier Alben
veröffentlicht. Deren Highlights, 14 Stück an der Zahl, sind auf einer CD versammelt, die dem aktuellen Werk
"Homegrown" als Bonus beiliegt. Sie reflektieren den Werdegang von Flox bassgenau. Bei "Homegrown" an
Rauchwaren zu denken, mag angesichts des Genres naheliegend sein, doch der Titel seines fünften Werks
zielt vielmehr auf die Do-it-yourself-Haltung ab, mit der Flox an die Realisation seiner Musik herangeht. Dass
er dabei textlich sein Innerstes kompromisslos nach außen kehrt, versteht sich in diesem Zusammenhang

Spaceship reached the top 10 in Beatport's deep house chart and received glowing reviews so what better time to introduce his next offering: Kitchens and Bedrooms.

Having championed underground dance sounds for many years now, DJ/producer Felix Dickinson really seems to be hitting his stride now, and on 'A Day's Reality', his second full length single for Futureboogie, Felix serves up perhaps his most accomplished works to date. Collaborating with legendary Chicago vocalist, Robert Owens (Fingers Inc/Frankie Knuckles), the pair produce a standout song that pulls on the very best of influences and delivers a modern day classic in the making. The 'Classic Mix' delivers some classic Chicago house tropes in abundance, Owen's vocals sounding just as good as ever digging into Dickinson's authentic production with it's timeless sound and energising vibes. An alternate 'Dedication Mix' is also served up, enlisting the musical directorship of Mikey Yamada and the live bass & guitars by Tsuyoshi Kosuga, both players from Japan whom Dickinson has forged a creative allegiance with. Brooklyn based Justin Van Der Volgen, supplier of fine sounds to labels like Golf Channel and Boogiefuturo, also joins the party with a version that further compliments the vocal prowess of Robert Owens. Juicy Fruit is as succulent as the name suggests - a feast of flavour served up by Dutch masters Kraak & Smaak. Their fifth studio album is one that sees them sonically revisiting the roots of their first releases, producing an organic and warm electronic disco and funk album packed with hot property collaborators including Mayer Hawthorne, Eric Biddines of Golden Rules, Parcels, Gallowstreet and Cleopold to name a few.

Effortlessly flitting between outright dancefloor boogie and meditative mellow moments it's a record that captivates the listener from start to finish, blending the timeless appeal of disco and electro with the best in indie dance and electronica.

Spring has arrived just in time for "Dov'e l'amore", a four track 12inch by David Vunk & Mima. This special collaboration of Rotterdam's main Italo producer and a classically trained pianist/singer from the former Yugoslavia has resulted in a bunch of energizing synth pop gems that will keep you dancing all the way through summer!

Kicking off this four track EP is one of Yuri's most dynamic productions to date. Wildly oscillating synths and snapping handclap-led house beats drive 'East West Connection', while what starts out as an acid synth shifts through a cycle of changes before evolving into a Detroit-style riff.

Both 'Nervous Arp' and 'Morning at Home' take the same palette of sounds into much deeper territory, touching base with electro funk and straight up jazz-fusion, highlighting Yuri's versatile musicality and distinctive production style.

'Modular' is an older track of Yuri's - a non-stop ride through wonky, synthesized fusion with hypnotic keys and rolling drums.

Kein Platz für lähmende Gedanken. Stattdessen gibt es nur noch Musik. Der Körper gehorcht allein dem durch den Raum ulsierenden Bass. Das ist es, wovon Raver sprechen, wenn sie erklären, was ihnen synthetische Club-Musik bedeutet.
Und genau darum dreht sich auch Verbalizer, das nun erscheinende Album von Anthony Rother, auf seinem neuen Label Nextdata.

Der Club als abstrakter Raum. Es geht um das Loslassen. Menschen machen sich frei, begegnen einander
und die Musik wird zum gemeinsamen Taktgeber.

Irgendwann nennt Rother diesen Prozess - die Dramaturgie der Ekstase', kann sich dabei aber das Grinsen
nicht verkneifen. - Die Leute sollen mit Verbalizer einfach ihren Spaß haben. Ich stand im Club und fühlte
plötzlich den Sound für dieses Album.

Verbalizer treibt im Raum nach vorn, ohne ins Intellektuelle abzugleiten. Es ist die Geschichte, der Augenblick und das anbrechende Abenteuer einer tanzenden Gesellschaft, irgendwo auf dieser Welt.
- Ich war auf der Suche nach einem expandierenden Klang. Dabei war wichtig, wie ich diesen Sound den Synthesizern in meinem Studio entlocke, so dass dabei eine Kraft entsteht, die alles Weltliche und den Alltag beiseite zu drücken vermag', erklärt Rother den hedonistischen Ansatz von Verbalizer.

Club-Tracks wie diese kommen ihrem Wesen nach ohne erzählerische Inhalte aus. Dennoch sorgen sie
beim Hörer für das Durchleben - oder besser für das Durchtanzen - ihrer ganz eigenen Geschichte. - Einige meiner vorherigen Alben haben ein komplex durchdachtes Konzept. Verbalizer wechselt
dagegen vollkommen die Perspektive: Der Inhalt und was sich aus dem Album ergibt liegt im Körperlichen, dem unaussprechlichen.'
Um es also kurz zu machen: Verbalizer - um zu verstehen, sollte
man das Album feiern.

Magic Feet release another split EP that touches on a variety of weird, wonderful and hugely atmospheric dancefloor moods.
Label boss Craig Bratley takes care of one side, his companions on the label's latest vinyl voyage are fresh-faced Lithuanian audio-visual explorers Roe Deers. Best-friends Liudas and Oskaras have been producing, DJing and performing together for some time, "Kukushka", the track showcased here, marks their debut release.
It's an impressive debut, too. Built around metallic percussion hits, chugging post-punk attitude, tipsy textures and the sound of broken cuckoo clocks, 'Kukushka' is a throbbing dancefloor excursion blessed with an otherworldly atmosphere. It's the musical equivalent of finding a wormhole round the back of a sprawling industrial estate, and then stepping inside to have a look around. Label regular and fast-rising French wunderkind Markus Gibb provides a stellar remix, teasing out the track's post-punk and industrial elements whilst adding a heady air of horror-influenced late night mysticism. Breathe in the rarefied air, and then run for your life.
Bratley handles the flipside, charging off in a bolder direction with a rucksack full of analogue gear for company. On 'Raw Tracks' he channels the spirit of Britain's bleep-and-bass pioneers, layering clattering drum machine hits, twisted electronics, ragged acid lines and alien melodies atop a hefty, speaker-shaking bassline, in other words, it more than lives up to its' title.
Bratley changes course on 'Night Moves', the EP's closing salvo. This time, it's the throbbing electronics, fluttering synthesizer lines and sharp digital melodies that catch the ear, rising and falling above a metronomic, early morning groove. The bassline bubbles along menacingly, impressively underpinning Bratley's head-in-the-clouds electronics in the process. It's a pleasingly positive end to an EP of carefully considered darkness.

Dutch label Field is ready to complete its recent trilogy of album projects. Following double albums by L'estasi Dell'oro and D.A.R.F.D.H.S., now comes The Information Is Coming From The Server, a debut album from Kartei, aka Crysta Patterson and Voiski. Kartei have hooked up only once before, putting out a well received 12" on Wille Burns' W.T. Records back in 2011. That was Patterson's only project to date, but Voiski has been active for years, working under a number of aliases and releasing on labels like Field, L.I.E.S. and Syncrophone. The duo started their cyber technopop act in 2007, performing contextual actions on more alternative scenes. Their working ethos is based on collecting data from the internet to create new material. Data and songs are preserved into their server systematically. The album they serve up here is a condensed compilation of their archive, which can be described as clean and melodic, subtly uplifting and calls on classic techno as well as plenty of futuristic ideals. Grooves are quick and slick, synths are well crafted and emotive and everything is underpinned by a motor kick that powers the album along. Tracks like the bubbly 'Sunset' make for moments of calmer reflection between more trip out kickers like 'Kartei gets Fat'. New wave vocals and sombre chords, bleepy melodies and celestial pads also feature throughout this album, and all in all adds up to a terrifically journeying album of fresh electronic sounds.

The winter's almost gone and Luettje Luise's Mama comes out of hibernation. With a new playground at home, it will take a talented hand to prepare for the upcoming spring. Along comes Nutia, sowing his seeds of "Raounuor". "Fischbahn" (A1) is a decent wake up call for the early birds facing their way back north to the deep woods of "Schweden" (A2). Here, Nutia serenades those old inhabitants with a rattling melody, and sends them on their way with heads still light. "Em Pessoa" (B1) tinkles on the flipside: a lullaby of constant perpetuation, which echoes its way through the mesmerising labyrinth of trees and bushes, only to be heard by the lonesome "Deer" (B2), who answers with the most gentle mating call these woods have ever heard.

It's fair to say that Boris Bunnik has made an impact in his short career. In less than a decade this dutch man, under monikers like Conforce and Versalife, has scaled Electro and Techno with subtle ambient touches and IDM echoes. And that's exactly what he's doing for the Singularity EP. Lush pads and flowing bars punctuated by crisp percussion, "Shine Eye" sets the scene. "Autobots" adopts those same brittle beats, this time using them to send dreaming strings skyward. Northern winds swirl around the colder chords of "MILnet", chords that dawn into absorbing swirls of "Transgenics." Masterful machine music.

* 100 records deep and Shogun come with one of its most prestigious releases to date marking the occasion true to form. Staggered across 4 EP's over several months alongside UK- European-Australia/NZ tour, Shogun 100 celebrates with an inspired range of new music from the entire label roster as well as guest appearances from Shogun associates who have released, performed and partied alongside them over the last 11 years.

* Part 2 of Shogun 100 ups the ante with a heavy audio assault from Germany's Phace who delivers trademark tech of the highest order whilst Shogun's own Joe Ford brings an 80's air on his guitar-led dance floor gem, 'Time Is Limited'. Men of the moment Ivy Lab turn SpectraSoul's already glowing 'Glimpse' into liquid gold and Proxima goes industrial to finish us off on the outrageous techno-hinged 'Sens8'.

As Pedro explains 'After managing Daft Punk between 1996 and 2008 I wanted to create my own history. By creating Ed Banger records I launched my own musical adventure in a way. I learnt so much with Daft Punk, I owe them a lot. Celebrating this 10th anniversary is very emotional, I'm proud I managed to write a pretty nice musical chapter in my life. Daft Punk as chapter #1 and Ed Banger records as chapter #2 is pretty cool.

Michael Forshaw takes you back to the old acid days. Stomping kick
meets 303 creaking with the extra Forshaw touch.
The B Side starts with Rock-Tron from Fugo. Heavy electro breaks
combined with distortion bleebs is his philosophy for the prime time.
Next Artist is Nino Fight with his Flying Flower. Pure analog sound
with a unique groove is his secret weapon for the dance floor. Ki-Yota
