Dance music's prolific Italian-born London-based sharpshooter Riva Starr set to release fourth artist album Curveballs via Adam Beyer's revered Truesoul Records.

Riva Starr has been shaking up the world of dance music with his eclectic and unpredictable palette of sounds and styles for over a decade. Over the years, he has racked up numerous accolades and achievements including releasing 3 acclaimed albums (If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade in 2010, Hand In Hand in 2013 and Definition of Sound in 2016), having a myriad of single/EP releases on some of dance music's most established labels (Snatch! Records, Hot Creations, Relief, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird) and amassing an impressive remix resume of artists including; Audion, Groove Armada, Dennis Ferrer, Usher, Estelle, London Grammar, Fatboy Slim, Reboot and David Morales.

With all of this success and experience under his belt, the time has come for the talented Italian to deliver his much awaited fourth long-player, Curveballs - comprising of 12 stellar tracks inspired by current club sounds and old school music elements, driven by Starr's endeavor to produce music that stands the test of time.

The LP's striking opener, 'Always' gets things underway and sets the tone with its powerful house groove, warm chord stabs and divine soulful vocal courtesy of legendary house diva Jocelyn Brown. Elsewhere, there's the funk-driven disco-tinged 'Piknik', the uplifting 'Needin' U' esque 'Disco Loco', the dark and commanding 'The Hole (Release Your Soul) and the pounding peak-time synth-laden roller 'Give Me Love'.

Other highlights include, the infectious breakbeat workout 'Britcoin', the techy electro-tinged 'Fresh' and the experimental synth-driven Techno gem 'AnalHog'. The album concludes with 3 fine cuts in the form of the bass heavy TR-909 laden 'Ride', the funk-fueled house groover 'Mantra (Early In The Morning)' and an exclusive deep-house-esque Dub version of 'Give Me Love' to round off yet another essential long-player from one of dance music's much-loved artists.

But, if you take a closer look at our past 12 months, dreams seem to come true every other day. We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step. A creation of the master at work himself Mr. Louie Vega, alongside Mood II Swing's Lem Springsteen, 'Beautiful People' is one of those mid 90's NYC jams that ticks all the boxes.
A record that was built for huge sound systems and joyous packed, sweaty dancefloors and one that features the supreme vocal skills of Barbara Tucker in full flow. It has all the trappings of a classic.
The A-side is the same as the original 1994 pressing with the now legendary 'Underground Network' mix opening proceedings, a roof-raising piece of organ led, gospel tinged goodness complete with it's iconic 'deep deep inside, deep down inside' vocal refrain slap bang in the middle for the sample spotters. Also included are the wonderfully stripped back and bumping 'Beautiful Reprise' mix and the original monster 'Club Mix' which sees Louie's MAW cohort Kenny Dope Gonzales at the desk on mixing duties (again, rinsing the amazing 'deep inside' vocal to great effect) and finally, to round off this essential package we are treated to a deep as you like Mood II Swing dub mix that is all swirling pads and organs, taking us into the early hours in style. A more solid and essential repress of a classic record you'd be hard pressed to find!

Originally released in 1998 this classic, stripped back, funked up workout from the mysteriously monikered Jean Caffeine (aka The Freaks' Luke Solomon) is a true underground UK House classic. Raw garage-esque drums drive the title cut 'Downtime, Turn Around And Go Backwards', the track skips along while these soul drenched creeping synth melodies and pads completely wash over us and engulf our senses... then, out of nowhere that wigged out bassline appears and we're locked in to a truly sublime groove that won't stop! Over on the flip we are treated to the subdued mellow groove of 'Jean's Train Of Thought', again crazy raw drum programming is accompanied by a sophisticated, bleepy jazzy feeling that goes super deep. The EP finisher 'Jean's Afterthought' carries on the minimal funk vibe of the rest of the EP - lean, driving drums, filtered loops and creeping synth sounds that weave in and out of the mix creating a mildly hallucinatory feel that is present throughout all 3 tracks. 'Downtime, Turn Around And Go Backwards' is a truly unique record with an original style that stood out in 1998 by miles and still sounds ahead of the curve now! A modern classic indeed.

Producer Frank Farian, the man behind Boney M and Milli Vanilli, rolled out his ‘90s equivalent, La Bouche, in 1995. The German based Eurodance duo La Bouche featured vocalist Melanie Thornton and rapper Lane McCray. They gained international success in 1995 when the hit single “Be My Lover” reached the top of the charts. In that same year they released their debut album Sweet Dreams featuring the singles “Fallin’ In Love” and “I Love To Love”.

Greatest Hits of La Bouche is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

‘Pushing On’ released in 2014 by Oliver Dollar & Jimi Jules remains a house staple, staying at Beatport’s #1 spot for over four weeks when it was first released, and recently achieving silver certification in the UK. A record house-heads know and love, this special 12” package offers a rare chance to get the cross-over hit on wax. Kicking off on the A-side is the beloved, club-ready original, alongside the stripped-back Dub version, that brings extra focus to the track’s irresistibly deep bassline form start to finish. Opening the B-side, Jesse Rose’s ‘Live From The Villa’ Remix enlists melodic keys and a mellow chill, contributing towards the remix’s Balearic feel. One of the most memorable house music moments, born out of the black LGBT scene in Chicago at the legendary Warehouse and known as one of Frankie Knuckles earliest productions; ‘Your Love’ is a stone cold classic. A record that is up there with the greats, instantly recognisable and a song that only get better with time.

Written by Jamie Principle and originally released in 1986, ‘Your Love’ has become a seminal recording over the past 34 years. Originally an underground club anthem, famously borrowed on the crossover hit ‘You’ve Got The Love’ (The Source feat. Candi Staton), and most recently re-produced by as part of the Director’s Cut project which aimed to update a number of classic cuts for the modern dancefloor, this is a record that endures the test of time. Working alongside The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and Eric Kupper, SoSure Music now releases two new remixes for 2020 from Darrius Syrossian and Alan Dixon.

First up, House music aficionado and legendary Sankey’s resident Darius Syrossian offers his unique blend of beats to the remix package. With releases on the likes of Get Physical, Viva Music and Hot Creations, Darius’ production is heavily influenced by some of the greats – think of the finest spinners from Detroit, New York and Chicago – and is well placed to approach this huge task. Darius introduces a rolling house beat and some old skool breakbeats into his mix, keeping the energy high throughout; bringing a feeling of a euphoria and hitting the peak time moment.

Charting a rapid rise through the ranks in a relatively short time Alan Dixon is already building a name for himself in House and Nu Disco scene and has recently released on labels including Glitterbox, Permanent Vacation, Running Back and True Romance. Alan’s remix aims directly at the centre of the disco dancefloor. A strong beat dominates a unique energy through the mix along with a slightly nostalgic vibe. With a beautiful floaty interlude and a raw emotion this remix updates a classic with respect while also giving a fresh new twist.

This new EP, entitled "Serenity remixes", pays tribute to POPOF's eponymous hit released in 2009. True Who's Who of electronic music, it will include several remixes of this classic by artists that we no longer present to you: Vitalic, NTO, Pig & Dan, Booka Shade, Oxia and Atoem.

Originally released on Obsession Music in 1997, the A-side went on to become a cult favourite after appearing on Sasha & Digweed’s North Exposure Expeditions mix in 1999. Since then, copies of the original 12-inch record have sold for astronomical sums. Now, over 20 years later, this gem is lovingly restored and available to a new generation of DJ’s and music lovers.

The album also includes the track “Overland” which samples the bassline of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson in an eccentric and joyful way. Belong represents the 2000’s musical turn, with its delicate, smart, minimal and emotionally groovy sound. A pioneering yet soulful layout of independent electronic music. In a limited edition this exclusive vinyl reissue for Diggers Factory celebrates the 20th anniversary of its release. For this occasion, a new mastering was done by POLE in the SCAPE studios, and a revisited cover, divided in 20 parts, reassembling as the original version of the artwork.

The next release on LIZ EDWARDS – SWAG CLASSIC LABEL is from LEN LEWIS. Len needs no introduction as he was one of the true originators of the early Tech-House sound. Releasing many classics on labels like SWAG – POODLE and his own imprint JOMO. The two cuts featured on this release are – DARK CAVERN. Which originally came out on Poodle Records in 2002, and was recorded upstairs at SWAG records, in the SWAG studio, and was a firm favourite of DJ MATTHEW B. It was also bit of an anthem at all those early London parties and clubs, Like THE END – WIGGLE & KERFUFFLE. The next cut is BAR-B-QUES & BALLGAMES. This came out on SWAG RECORDS in 1999 and was one of Len’s first releases. Both of these tunes, together, would set you back about £60 on Discog’s for a mint copy, but here we have them both on one 12’ - both re-mastered and sounding better than ever. Only 300 pressed so don’t sleep on this.

Duke about this EP: Ironically one of my very first records was a disco sample in 1990 taken from Queen Samantha. I don’t know exactly what inspired me, but likely coming from the Hip Hop world where everything was looped and sampled brought me to doing the same for house and therefore the disco, funk etc samples for the house stuff. The first techdisco EP was done in 1995. I think there may have been a handful of other house records out that sampled disco tracks at the time. Harvey Mason’s Groovin you comes to mind. Sneak also had done a few, but maybe Pal Joey was one of the originals too that used loops, particularly Dance by Earth People. Joey also came from the Hip Hop world so we likely were inspired by the same style of loops.
The main concept was the idea of fusion. I was heavily into fusion jazz in the early 90s and that is really what spawned the techdisco and techfunk series. A mix between genres that hadn’t really been done before. Not saying I was the first, but I did my best to create a new and distich style.
I did everything myself when it comes to the techdisco series. In 1996 I traveled a lot DJing, in the states but mostly in Europe. I didn’t have time for a resicency at that time like I had prior to me being full time DJ/producer/label owner. I did do some remixes back then, but maybe not as many as I would have thought. Perhaps because people looked at me as having my own label and doing my own thing.
