Italian cinematic funk heroes Calibro 35 announce a limited edition 45 rpm vinyl featuring two previously unreleased singles. The record is pressed on clear orange vinyl, limited to 600 copies, making it a must-have collector’s item.

On the A side, Calibro 35 reimagine Grover Washington Jr.’s jazz-funk classic “Mister Magic” with an ultra-groovy cinematic funk stormer, perfect for DJs and collectors alike. On the B side, the Milan-based combo revitalizes Can’s krautrock anthem “Vitamin C” with a fresh jazz-punk energy, a track recently brought back into the spotlight through Kanye West’s sampling. Both tracks are taken from the Deluxe Edition of their latest studio album Exploration, set for digital worldwide release on February 6th via Record Kicks.

Praised by Rolling Stone as “the most fascinating, retro-maniac and genuine thing that has happened to Italy in the past few years,” Calibro 35 have built an international reputation as one of the coolest independent bands around. Their music has been sampled by Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, and The Child of Lov (featuring Damon Albarn), and they’ve collaborated with icons such as PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, and Stewart Copeland, continuing to push their cinematic funk universe further.

To celebrate the release, Calibro 35 will hit the road starting mid-October, with two special U.S. shows in Miami and Los Angeles, followed by a European tour including Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, and London.

When Curren$y, Smoke Dza and Harry Fraud got together at a Times Square recording studio one night in the summer of 2013, they didn’t know that they would be recording The Stage EP in one session. However, once they got into the room together, they locked the door and didn’t come out until they had laid down four heaters, all over classic Harry Fraud style beats. The trio immediately knew they had something special and enlisted the services of French Montana and Big K.R.I.T. to round out their masterpiece. Turning an impromptu studio session into the foundation for a full collaboration project is nothing new to these industry vets, with Curren$y and Harry Fraud creating /recording their Cigarette Boats EP in similar fashion. The Stage was initially released as a “mixtape” on DatPiff in October of 2013, and only recently made available on DSPs. On June 7th, 2019 fans of Curren$y, Dza and Fraud will finally be able to add to this gem to their vinyl collection by ordering this limited edition pressing, available on Opaque Purple wax, and with the Instrumentals included on the b-side... Released in 1994 on his own label, the first record of Laurent Daumail aka DJ Cam brings a French response to the hip hop experimentations that are beginning to spread around the world.

At the time, trip-hop was spreading even though nobody really knew what it really covered. And, in this case, here preferred to refer to his work as abstract hip-hop, meaning that he played a lot more with textures and climates than words to bring his message. In that spirit, DJ Cam mixed in his passion for jazz music, inherited from his father.

In his test tube, Cam tries to fit in the length and melancholia of jazz music plated on rough samples and reinforced by various moving beats and scratches.

More than any of his future works, Underground Vibes is characterized by its melodic unity which makes the whole record perfectly homogenous but never monotonous.

Two of hip hop’s most talented and enigmatic artists, Los Angeles emcees Fatlip (The Pharcyde) and Blu (Blu & Exile), have linked for a hotly anticipated collaborative LP Live From the End of the World Vol. 1, (Demos), out April 29, 2022 via Los Angeles/Tokyo-based label Guilty By Association (GBA).

"Gangsta Rap" is the Madlib-produced single from the project. A bright, crisply layered ode to west coast’s golden era of rap from three of the best to do it, the limited edition 7" clear transparent vinyl features artwork by abstract painter Harold Anton (1954).

Mia Gargaret” is an ambient, (mostly) instrumental album by Chicago, IL singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer Gia Margaret. It’s also not the follow-up she intended after the critical success of her 2018 debut, “There’s Always Glimmer”. But after she suddenly found herself without use of her primary instrument, she had to rethink her methods, at least temporarily. Gia explains: “After having to cancel tours because of illness, I was unable to sing for nearly half of the year. This left me feeling like a shell of myself, so I turned to my synthesizer for comfort. These compositions helped me hold onto my identity as a music maker. At times this music helped soothe my anxiety more than therapy or anything else could.” Documenting her self-healing and without singing or lyrics to steal the focus, the instrumental tracks on “Mia Gargaret” shine a light on Gia’s skills as a musician, composer & producer. Spare but immersive arrangements of synthesizer, piano & acoustic guitar simultaneously ache & soothe, building emotional landscapes that rise & recede like scenery through a train window. “Mia Gargaret” is a gorgeous experiment & a memorable meditation on the healing power of music. This version is a limited edition of 200 – pressed on pale blue vinyl with an exclusive lithograph print.

Undertones, the first collaborative album between Lo-Fi producers Glimlip and Yasper, contains 20 tracks that combine influences from Jazz, Funk and Soul with Instrumental Hip-Hop. By involving schooled jazz musicians in their project, this album captures the classy creativity of live recordings resulting in a tremendously rich and refined sound.

"The Echoes on Departure" is is the seventh album from GNAC, a musical project composer Mark Tranmer started in 1990.

Tranmer says of The "Echoes on Departure": “I finished previous album “Afternoon Frost” in 2021 — and straight away I could hear the beginnings of the next album. It is different from the previous album; more electronic, but still with some of my favourite chord progressions — and a few new ones. I also felt strongly that this album it needed a voice on two tracks — and was delighted that Kathleen provided that voice - and took those tracks beyond my envision”. Kathleen Stosch of Constant Follower provides vocals for “Betweenness” — the evocative first single — and the closing album track, “Until The Heart Stops”: a piano-led baroque waltz miniature.

An album launch party takes place at the Glad Café, Glasgow, on Wednesday 22nd March, co-headlined by The Orchids.

Bob Stanleyʼs 2019 “Tim Peaks” compilation inspired the relaunching of GNAC after a long hiatus; 2021 saw the release of the well-received album “Afternoon Frost” – with extensive airplay, including on KEXP and 6Music, and a Timʼs Twitter Listening Party. There were several GNAC concerts in Scotland last year — these continue further afield in 2023. Prior to GNACʼs return, Tranmer co-wrote and recorded an album with Italian pianist Alessandra Celletti in Rome. He was also half of the Montgolfier Brothers, alongside sorely missed songwriter, lyricist and vocalist Roger Quigley; the band released two albums on Alan McGeeʼs Poptones label.

The subterranean slumber of Nile mastermind Karl Sanders’ Eastern-ambient Saurian series finally ceases with the third chapter of his darkly hypnotizing saga, Saurian Apocalypse! Kista returns from a long hiatus with his first ever all instrumental LP.

Songs From The Seas Edge takes us on a journey into the mind of producer and Graffiti Writer Kista.

It's an album where all his early influences or things that intrigued him, all come together, his love for Sc-Fi Movies, Hip Hop, 80's Arcade Games, John Carpenter Soundtracks and Films (you will notice a few vocal samples from his films nestled away among the songs) and many other things that influenced him growing up as a kid.

In a world now dominated by Playlists and the digital age, Kista took a step back to try and make an album that all fitted together, a concept album based around living on the coast as a kid in the 80's.
“ I started going through samples i put aside years ago and started to go back to them, to try and make them all fit and blend together to form an instrumental album”.

“It's kind of hard to explain where Songs From The Sea's Edge fits to my previous work” explains Kista

Another excellent find here, an unreleased dub/instrumental album compiled by Lloydie Slim at the end of the 70s, featuring exclusive dubwise & instrumental cuts to many of his rhythms from earlier in the decade. As a bonus we've added 2 more tracks to the original 10 track album tape - the vocal & dub cuts to Johnny Clarke's "I'll Never Fall in Love Again", one of Slim's personal favorites of his productions. This single was originally released in 1975 in JA on his Don One label, and again in New York a few years later on his namesake Ivanhoe the Conqueror label. The original Madlib instrumentals to Georgia Anne Muldrow’s critically acclaimed album; “Seeds” which was released in 2012 on SomeOthaShip Connect.
