Among the most important full-length album works from one of reggae’s greatest singers, "Mr. Isaacs" shows the great Gregory Isaacs in the prime of his career in 1976/1977. Better known for his love songs, Isaacs was equally adept at cultural themes. The tracks "Set The Captives Free" and "Slave Master" are among the most popular in his catalogue, the latter immortalized on film in the movie 'Rockers'. The track "Storm" became an early favourite in the dancehall, its rhythm track (aka the Storm riddim) is re-imagined no fewer than 75 times over the last 40 years. Gregory Isaacs love of Rocksteady shines in his cover of the Silvertones’ "Smile", and his soulful side comes through on a cover of The Temptations’ "Get Ready". The breadth of material on "Mr. Isaacs" is the hallmark of a reggae classic!

- The album was one of the first titles ever distributed by VP Records, "Mr. Isaacs" reissue coincides with the label’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
- This pressing features the earliest known cover art and producer Ossie Hibbert’s original Earthquake labels, as found on the pre-release edition.

Two years since his Going For It EP, Livity Sound is pleased to welcome back Sydney’s DJ Plead for a second round of versatile, psychedelic club variations. Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.

Featuring two tracks in a classic vocal and version style, with the first release in our 7" series written and produced by Joe Rooney, live in the heart of Bristol. The first track features for the first time a solo vocal feature from Ashanti Selah where he spreads his righteous message about the love and journey of life in music.

B side is a classic dub mix of this instant vocal classic, this record is built for the dances so that other Mc's and lyrical chanters can take the reigns and lace up the riddim track for a one off live version. This dub really shows the tight production style of joe and his approach to roots music....... Stay Rooted.

Founded in 1981 in Britain's second city Birmingham, the band Sceptre were part of a thriving local music scene, a scene that for the most part revolved around live shows in the region's community centres, university campuses, pubs and nightclubs. Neglected by major labels, many bands went unrecorded and of those that did get documented most managed to release just one or two singles. Fortunately, Sceptre recorded and released an entire album, 1984's »Essence of Redemption Ina Dif'rent Styley.«

Noted reggae vocalist Barry Biggs comes under the Emotional Rescue microscope here with celebrated LA digger Patrick Billard aka DJ Duckcomb remixing one of his cuts. First up is the original version of 'Illusion' which has big pianos over the clean digital dub. The soaring vocal is obscured by plenty of lush effects and melodies. After a version twists and contorts the original, the DJ Duckcomb Discomix slows things down and ups the dazzling disco vibes but keeps the dub dubby bottom end to ensure plenty of dance floor impact. This is a classy one as ever from this label.

* Vocals courtesy of the late great Jamaican singer Bim Sherman, whose unique haunting voice made him a firm favourite throughout the 70s/80s/90s with the roots reggae crowd as well as On-U Sounds taking Bim to other worldy realms.
* Originally released on Youth and Alex Patterson’s WAU! Mr Modo label in 1989 and produced by Sound Iration (Nick Manasseh and Scruff).
* Originally recorded as `It Must Be a Dream’ in the 70s, on this cut, Bim revisits the track in `89 with a meditative part-digital rhythm from Sound Iration backed with a phased-out dub version on the flipside.

Dragon Dance is the third release by Twin Cities Sound System duo, Feel Free Hi Fi following the Prophet Noir EP and a split 12” with Kingston's Equiknoxx in 2021. Dragon Dance's instrumentals pick up where Prophet Noir left off. The dark dystopian industrialism of Prophet Noir remains present in Dragon Dance but in lieu of a dancehall influenced approach, Dragon Dance leans into the duo's love of foundation UK steppers and dub history. The blend of deep and subtle textures create tracks that are both heavy and minimal. Dragon Dance is another glimpse into Feel Free Hi Fi's uneasily defined musical vision.

The records come in double sided silkscreen printed DJ jackets, with Obi Strip style stickers and hand stamped white labels created and printed by Digital Sting.

Hitman & Fiza, young producers hailing from south of France arrive with a fresh rub a dub riddim with strong and heavy vocals from Trinidad & Tobago legend Queen Omega.

The track was created while covid was raging around the world. The tracks are different then what was usually released at that time - slightly slower, more bending the knees kind of riddim, than jump up style. The lyrics written by the ambassador of reggae from Trinidad and Tobago with one of kind original vocal delivering conscious message as usual.

Tribe 84 label always works towards creating all-embracing international collaborations so a great trumpeter from Berlin, Vale was invited to add a special flavour to the track and at the end all was mixed heavily by Violinbwoy from Poland. Dem Wicked is a 4 track global endeavour that is pushing the boundaries of contemporary roots reggae music.

Brixton in South London has to be the place whee legends in Reggae & Dub meet up for a collaboration. The result is this 8 track all-analogue mixed Dubwise adventure that features the UK’s hardest Roots Reggae bass player & drummer (Mafia & Fluxy) playing the UK’s deepest dubs (Vibronics).
This fascinating and intricate LP merges old stool Jamaican reggae musicianship with the swirling euphoria found in contemporary dub music.

Vibronics is one of the most established names in UK Dub/Reggae music. From their base, in the Dub Cupboard Studio in Leicester, their music has achieved millions of views on YouTube, millions of Spotify streams and many tens of thousands of vinyl record sales. Vibronics have collaborated with reggae legends Michael prophet, Macka B, Iration Steppas, Soom T, Aba-Shanti and so many more.

Mafia & Fluxy are the UK’s foremost Reggae rhythm section and were initially inspired by Sly And Robbie, consisting of brothers Mafia (Bass) and Fluxy (drums). Legends of the stage and the studio, they record regularly in the UK & Jamaica, building rhythm tracks for Bunny Lee, Blacker Dread, King Jammy, Exterminator and Jah Shaka. They continue to work with the cream of the crop in terms of Reggae, having recently backed Luciano & Eek-A-Mouse on their world tours.

Scratch The Super Ape is the 1976 studio album by Lee Perry’s studio band The Upsetters. The lineup consisted of Boris Gardener on bass, Mikey Benbow on drums, Earl Smith on guitar, Keith Sterling on keys and the horn quartet Bobby Ellis, Dirty Harry, Herman Marquis, and Vin Gordon. The album is recorded at Lee Perry’s studio and is both composed and produced by him.

This edition of Scratch The Super Ape features the original Jamaican album cover and is available as a limited edition of 2000 individually numbered copies on orange coloured vinyl.

Slipped into a white sleeve adorned with a ghostly embossment, the 12 Inch features "The Ghost", "A Seed A Day" and their respective dub versions. Contained within the package are two minor-scale tunes voiced by Pupajim with lyrical themes of determination, revenge and hope, and two dubs mixed live at The Kerwax studio which expand the space-time and bring today's Loguivy-Plougras closer to the Kingston of the 1970s. With its assumed "Cool Ruler" influences, theremin notes of circumstance, clavinet parts ricocheting from skanks and formidable groovy hi-hats, the EP invites the listener to discover or rediscover the roots side of the versatile dubadub musketeerz's sound!

During the 80's dancehall era a number of record producers claimed to be the real authentic sound of downtown Kingston but Ossie Thomas' Black Solidarity label, operating out of Delamare Avenue in the heart of the ghetto, was the real deal ....

This was the start of the 70's when the political rivalry got heated between JLP and the PNP, - also the shots start fire ....
I said to myself if you're going die, you're going die ... from that me not scared of Kingston' Ossie Thompson.

This album provides an insightful glimpse into life in these unforgiving Kingston neighbourhoods describing not only the poverty and desperation, but also how at times, styles, fashions and the cathartic joys of music, and the dancehall could transform this harsh environment into one of joyous celebration ...

* King General’s follow-up to the classic `Money Run Tings’ (1996) arrives in the shape of `Broke Again’, originally emerging in 2009 on CD only.
* So now, on vinyl for the first time: 6 vocals from the General with 6 dubs from The Bush Chemists
* Including the singles `Them Wrong’ and the title track `Broke Again’
* Two tracks that couldn’t fit on this vinyl release: `Got to be Conscious’ and `Long Way to Go’ will appear separately on a forthcoming 12” (PRTL12014).

* The 7” A side, ‘My Homeland’, is a Sax/Hornz instrumental track and features top Jamaican Hornzman, Alvin Davis. The B side has a heavyweight Dub from Alien Dread.

Alvin is also well known ref Jazz and other musical areas, as well as Reggae and has worked with many Jazz, Soul and mainstream artists including: Andy Hamilton, Rose Royce, Prince, Edwin Starr, The Foundations, Neville Staples (Specials & Fun Boy Three), Jackie Graham, Nigel Kennedy and Reggae-wise, Alton Ellis, Macka B, Maxi Priest and David Hinds (Steel Pulse) and many others.
