Doctor Barbara Ann Teer's words on The Radicle's opening jam 'JAS' may have been lifted from an old Folkways record, but that doesn't make the sentiment any less prescient. In fact, these words could have been said by Tim himself in reference to the spirit and ideology of 'The Radicle', only his third ever artist album to date.

Released 30 October on the Seminal Strictly Rhythm label, the album is vastly different from the majority of electronic albums out there. It has a decidedly soulful, blues-y feel and instead of the 'here's ten club tracks, will this do' approach, Tim took his time and immersed himself completely into the record, surrounding himself with some of the best contemporary jazz musicians around, including Jim Mullen (guitar), Rod Youngs and Enzo Zirilli (drums), Pete Wareham (sax), Jay Phelps (trumpet), John Donaldson (piano) and Ben Hazleton (bass).

The Radicle was born out of a pure love of real instruments and instrumentation and a desire to return to the source. 'Working with musicians really inspired me,' comments Tim 'I started having piano lessons once a week with my teacher Cherry and started reconnecting directly with the music via the instrument, rather than going out and listening to old jazz records. With The Radicle I really had the vision about what I wanted to achieve.'

The Radicle is a proper musical trip. And in keeping with the spirit of the record, the look and feel of the actual album reflects that authenticity, with the first promo shoot location being infamous East End boozer The Clapton Heart, where many of the shots were taken on Rolleflex film, cementing the consistency between analogue production and the photos themselves.

The Radicle is a nine track sonic adventure with ideas bursting from every kick and lick. There's even a cover of the Miles Davis classic 'So What!' which bends the trumpet classic into new forms while 'Shanti' explores a more mysticial, Indian vibe with a sax solo John Coltrane would be proud of. There are no synthesizers or electronics on the record: in some respects, it's also a reaction against the electronic world.

The Gold Play is a compilation of all Tangram-related artists to date.
Tangram Records is an independent Belgian-based record label. It was founded 4 years ago by Up High Collective and Mophito to promote a batch of unreleased beats and live-show by Up High. Throughout the years their releases got picked up by Gilles Peterson, Lefto, XLR8R, Boiler Room, Kutmah...amongst others. Now 4 years later Tangram have introduced a wide-range of talented musicians to the world. Without wanting to limit them to a certain genre you might say their releases are a celebration of electronics and hip-hop.
The compilation itself holds 6 previously unreleased tracks by Up High Collective, Faisal, LTGL, LoneBlue x Halibab Matador (aka YellowStraps), Le Motel and Sokoto. Each side of the vinyl ends with a previously released track on Tangram by Day Fly and Moodprint blending the entire release nicely together.

The artwork release is beautifully crafted by Dzia. Dzia is a graphic artist from Belgium and fine artist in every sense for that matter. His creations range from paintings, through sculpture to taxidermy and street works. This gatefold holds two versions of a fox and a play-full scenery of dear.

'I Will Never Know' is the first single from Tall Black Guy's sophomore album 'Let's Take A Trip'. Since 2013's '8 Miles To Moenart' TBG has cemented his position as a standard bearer for the current hip-hop / beats scene. Born in Detroit and now residing in the UK, Wallace's signature style of incredibly clever sample flips and deft production chops has won fans across the globe including Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Jazzy Jeff and House Shoes. For this lead track he has enlisted the talents of LA soul group Moonchild. The trio (signed to UK label Tru Thoughts) consist of reed / horn players Andris Mattson and Max Bryk and vocalist Amber Navran. Check their 2015 album 'Please Rewind' for evidence of their singular take on modern soul music that has earned praise from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Robert Glasper, James Poyser and 9th Wonder.

This collaboration is a very natural one, with Tall Black Guy's deft drums and soulful instrumentation perfectly combining with the sultry vocals and muted horns of Moonchild. 'I was a fan of their music as soon as Texas based DJ, Pepper Thomas had put me onto them a few years back. I really wanted to collaborate with them and so I reached out to them - I liked the completed track so much that I asked them if they would like to be a part of my next album. I particularly like the fact that all three of them equally contribute to the group's sound.' On the flip of this limited edition 7" is TBG's own alternate mix of the track (exclusive to this release). With beefed up drums and subtly altered bass notes it's the perfect accompaniment to the handclap-fuelled and understated original. Look out for the full album later this month on First Word Records.

Bad Taste is beatmaker extraordinaire Josip Klobucar's radical stylistic shift into psychedelia, towards murkier, weirder and skewed sides of beats. With a mighty, estranged and saturated ambience. And admirable dynamics. The material that dreams are made of, well, at least how Edgar Allan Poe would write about them. His range of influence is vast, with nods to folk, world music, psych and obviously hiphop. Because of Josip's unique approach to arranging, maniacal layering and details all these genre tags don't really mean much though. Bad Taste is another precisely and thickly kneaded music delivery from the Zagreb native. Undiluted!

Josip Klobucar is a veteran and pioneer of the tiny Zagreb beats scene. He has released music for 4lux, Eklektik Records and Svetlana Industries. He has worked on various projects and collaborated with artists such as Teebs & Jackhigh, Yoggione, Fulgeance, Yannah Valdevit ... He's also known for his carefully crafted, elaborate and lucid live acts.

Sireli is the first release of Viken Arman's newly created record label. He will be gathering his closest friends on this project and was was joined by Bedouin, Mira, Christopher Schwarzwalder, Canson and Nutia for this EP. Sireli is an amalgam of Viken's unique folkloric and traditional crafted sounds. Drop of Raki is the result of an unexpected early morning collaboration with Jo.Ke and Iannis Ritter. The track goes deeper into Viken's armenian roots and oriental influences.

REPRESS OF 2007 LUAKA BOP CLASSIC ALBUM

Moreno, Kassin and Domenico were childhood friends from school. They formed a band and made three albums, each one under a different one's name. Their records are different and very influential in Brazil. Morneo is the son of legendary Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso. You can hear him at age 8 on the first Luaka Bop release ( Beleza Tropical') singing the words Ilê Ayê' on Caetano's song of the same name.

Moreno's record is to some extent the most conventional of the three, even though Domenico, the drummer, plays drums on a sampler and cymbal sounds using sand paper. The next release, Domenico's, had the greatest success in the indie world, while Kassin's album is the most produced (which makes sense as he has become one of the most successful producers in Brazil).

The second LP from Grup has finally arrived, five years after his first release, which is today is totally sold out and very hard to find. 19 tracks in the pure Grup Ses style, a perfect blend of instrumental hip-hop and bass music, spiced by turkish-psych samples. The album's conception took three years in Beyoglu, Istanbul, where Grup Ses invited the best of the turkish beat-making scene, but also called for his european connections : Gantz, Fulgeance, Coco Bryce, Nodul, Biblo, Elektro Hafiz and many more contributed to make this release unique.

Milky Bomb Records are releasing the debut album from SLF&Co titled No Beats In Algebra.

SLF&Co - No Beats In Algebra is a collaboration of vocalists and musicians - also known as the lovely folk & friends from around the towns of blighty. The SLF&Co project came to light from a PC, in a flat, in Norwich. Clocks tick, tracks emerge, people lend an ear, a voice, some insight and the occasional slap.

Influenced and inspired by many different genres and production techniques with a few bits and bobs of rock, electronica, ambient, dance, hip/trip-hop, avant-garde and progressive music. No Beats In Algebra will fulfill all of your musical preferences in one nicely rounded package for the ears and mind to ponder.

Featured artists on No Beats In Algebra can also be found with their respective groups on the compilation release An Amalgamation of Sorts...Part Zero (2015) through Milky Bomb Records.

Patrick Wade, better known as Dead Horse Beats is a producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist living in Montreal, Canada. Since the release of his first album in 2011, Wade has garnered attention for his unique brand of hazy, rhythmic, soul-styled creations, and energetic live spectacles featuring a slough of live instrumentation, electronics and guest performers.

After the release 2015's acclaimed Single People LP and a brief stint with London's Black Butter Records, DHB partnered with Brooklyn based Bastard Jazz Recordings for his premiere vinyl pressing - the Fall 2016 release of Bad Hopes EP.

Bad Hopes is the culmination of a new, fully realized sonic direction for Dead Horse Beats, inspired by the sounds of the Montreal scene in which DHB is embedded, equal parts glittering R&B, and undeniable deep house inspired soundscapes, fusing fully on Bad Hopes,

Alongside friends and collaborators Frase (vocals on She Said) and Jason Simpkin (additional production and instrumentation throughout) DHB blends his voice and lyrics with bassy grooves, lush synths and sharp, angular percussion into a cohesive, rolling soundscape.

Janette Jnett Pitruzzello is considered something of a legend in her home city of Melbourne, where she's been DJing for well over two decades. Here, she delivers her debut solo EP, featuring a quartet of tracks co-produced by Maurice Fulton. The latter also delivers a solo mix of opener Reflection", which adds a little leftfield disco sparkle and percussive sweatiness to an otherwise organ-heavy deep house groove. There's a similarly cheery, funky and disco-tinged feel to the rolling, cut-up house goodness of Swangzipani". Elsewhere, the duo gets a little stranger in pursuit of dancefloor thrills, Bubbles Away' is deliciously dark, wonky and intergalactic, while Judge Not' wanders off into head-nodding, instrumental hip-hop territory.

The limited box (only 500 copies worldwide) includes five colored vinyl LP's with over 35 exclusive tracks plus four additional digital bonus tracks (with digital download code), a bonus double CD version exclusively designed by Lorena Assisi, a T-shirt (only size L) and an exclusive documentary about the label - all in a specially designed box by Dave McKean.

A journey to the moon that began fifteen years ago now reaches another milestone - 15 years, one and a half decades, over 150 individual releases, many many artists, countless professional relationships but also friendships along the way. Many many stories and shared memories - not all of them good, not all of them bad either. While modern space age technology would make it possible to reach the moon's surface a lot faster, for us it is not only about moving forward as quickly as possible, but also to turn around, look back and around ourselves and to reflect on everything that happened and is happening. This is why we have such a broad range of artists guesting on our latest compilation. Some that have been part of the voyage from its earliest stages, others that have been with us for major milestones along the way, and even more that might move ahead with us into new and unchartered musical regions.
Working with Dave McKean - a true legend, especially for anyone into comic illustrations - wraps up this whole trip in the sweetest way. Not only is it a big honour, but - in a way - it completes the circle, as Dave has been a major influence for the label's artworks from its earliest beginnings already.
Luckily, we have not crashed into any lunar crater with our listeners. We want to thank you for making this long journey possible and we greatly look forward to celebrating this milestone with our partners, musical family and of course with you, our listeners.

For more than a decade, Jimmy Edgar has experimented in sound structure and design, utilising an array of digital and analog hardware to release delphic signings on Warp, !K7 and Hotflush. After launching his enigmatic label Ultramajic in 2013, the Detroit born space cadet delves into mystic philosophy with his latest metaphysical embodiment.

Following on from Lando's July release, the forthcoming EP 'Shine' sees a continuation in pulsating chunky house chords with an industrialised varnish. The gargantuan brawn and weight of 'Let me tell you' ensures crowd-pleasing thump. This theme then slightly diverts, with the synthetic minimalism of 'The Dip Chair' and 'Two of Wands'. However, Edgar harks back to earlier influences in his career with 'Feel what it is', embodying Detroit house seen through R&B elements, reflective of his hometown influences.

Trani has been representing the Detroit sound in Italy for some years now, with releases on Minimal Soul Recordings, as well as his own Pushmaster Discs (a label that has also hosted the likes of Ilario Alicante, Myles Sergé and Percyl). His latest outing will be his first full-length, an album inspired space travel, that continues to push Detroit sounds, as well as venturing into some jungle rhythms.

Meshing layers of string melodies to rising wind sheets over schizophrenic sporadic keys breaks us down into a warble bass concluding the song and re-introducing you to the planet you thought you had escaped. Lucky for us then that 'End Of Stars' delivers just the follow up we want as it casts us deeper in an ambient, HD soundscape of pure meditation. Its rhythm, key changes and layers of subtle, indiscernible yet perfectly tuned sounds take you to a place you want to remain in a lot longer than the few minutes you are given. However, our journey must continue and this time we enter a world of glass sounds with hints of digital, offbeat subtleties and pondering piano notes which reverberate in 'USHDKNW'. 'Mermaids' gives us a 2 sided delivery of industrial sounds and eerie echoing coupled with a hopeful melody which forms the crucible of this whole journey as it portrays a strange, off the beaten track break from the sweetness heard so far. 'Under The Lake (Cure me)' is a stunner carrying on from its predecessor building up a trance-like haven of echo chambers before leading this sea worthy juggernaut back to 'Shore', its hopeful meadow of sound complete with birds chirping throwing us down into some wonky off beat claps in a song reminiscent of 'Herbie Hancock' style ponderings and bringing us nearer to the end in a gentle lull of strings. 'Yugen' brings the album to a close in a whirlwind of snowy, oriental soundscapes and delicate percussion. This whole LP is an ambient bass journey perfect for long roads and one you will rewind as I did several times today alone.

Klyne reveal their new single Closer, a perfectly crafted and executed slice of electronic-pop. The partnership of producer Ferdous Dehzad and singer Nick Klein prove yet again why they're one of the most exciting acts to emerge this year. An infectious edge to the track's staccato synth lines are topped off with singer Nick Klein's measured soulful mastery.

"Closer is about someone going to the extreme in order to reach their lifelong desire, and at the same time coping with the fear that their fate might already be decided. One of life's greater beauties is when a person breaks free of these psychological limitations. At first it looks like naive stubbornness, and the feelings of doubt never entirely go away. Sam's debut EP on XL incorporates bright experimental production that showcases the wide range of his versatility and influence

Horsepower Productions, and their ever present head honcho Benny ill, revered in underground music circles as among the key early innovators of dubstep, return in 2016 with their much anticipated fourth album: 'Crooks, Crime & Corruption'.

Continuing their working relationship, which stretches back to the early days of 2000, for the design of the 'Crook, Crime & Corruption' packaging, Give Up Art drew on the visual language of law enforcement — creating rolls of custom printed 'Police tape'. Each plain, unprinted 12" sleeve is wrapped by hand in the tape, sealing in the discs, and making each pressing unique.

An ambitious and varied record, it finds the group expanding their horizons and broadening their sound palette, while maintaining the unparalleled production chops that first made them such a force in the scene.Their pioneering early singles sought to strip UK garage of its slickness, adopting a stripped-down, dubbed-out approach that emphasised roughness and powerful bass. Macro has been the home for the albums of some of electronic music's most exciting live acts. So when you are a live band and you enter this context, you'd better enter with a bang. KUF do just this with their debut EP for the label. The three-piece outfit with keys, bass and drums cook up a sound that's as warm, cozy and exciting as it is utterly alien, all at the very same time. The rhythm section hints at the great history of dirty funk and r'n'b, but the grooves are firmly of today: dance-centered and broken up at the best possible joints. The bewildering thing about KUF is that it is a vocal-led group that has no singer on stage at all. All vocal elements are based on self-recorded samples which keyboard whizz kid Tom Schneider melds and bends and squeezes in real time. As if it was a regular thing to do. With no artificial synchronization in place, Valentin Link on bass and Hendrik Havekost on drums push the disembodied, highly abstract voices into an arena of hyperintegrated realtime magic. Odyssee' and Wildlife' are full-on introductions to the world of KUF, with Staring At The Sky' being a jam-type addition which the band is killing with in their live sets. The title track also comes with a special guest VIP remix for the techno clubs. But never forget this is a live band, and that's how anything you hear here has been developed. Seeing is believing.

We appreciate that the expensive luxuriously packaged first edition was not for everyone's budget so the second edition is standard black vinyl and a regular sleeve design. These changes have brought the cost back in line with a standard double LP without cheapening the product and is still a superior quality package compared to many other independent releases.

The artwork has been tweaked to work with the standard sleeve format which is presented on heavyweight 380gsm card and is factory sealed in shrink wrap instead of plastic sleeves. We kept the original hype sticker design to retain the overall aesthetic from the first edition along with the same full colour insert but have included an extra information sticker for the back cover with track listing. We have also kept to double vinyl for pressing quality and have even reworked the label design as we found that the first edition labels didn't suit black vinyl quite the same as the colour vinyl edition so even though this is aimed at being cheaper than the first pressing we're still paying close attention to detail.

So as to be able to reach a wider audience we have added a Compact Disc release to the formats available which is presented in a factory sealed card sleeve with full colour inner sleeve so that the design remains in line with the vinyl issue.

* Black Eyes is the signature track from the EP and kicks off proceedings with an infectious fret- driven undertone. Powell's swirling vox add further hypnotic draw reminiscent of early Lemon Jelly or Karl Hyde. A refreshing un-quantized approach assists in building a heavy 4/4 neck-breaker of a groove. The whole composition oozes simplicity and constraint, with Powell's parting aberration delivering the mood for the whole EP "You don't know day until you've felt the night'. Afterlife is the dystopian bridge track that NIN wish they had wrote, using a droney guitar riff and angst- laden licks the track has tungsten running through its arteries. The trio manage to avoid vocals on this occasion instead delivering a pressure cooker atmosphere that churns through chromatic patterns until the very last chord is hammered out. Divy completes the offering with a contagious Bristolian trip-hop vibe that again delivers in the spine-snapping department.


* Completing the EP, Alan Fitzpatrick graces 'Black Eyes' with his aptly named "Loft Rocker Rework'. Abundant use of intensifying modular rumbling and Lenky-esque african claps herald a herculean build. Respite is offered briefly through a heavily filtered sample of Powell's original vocal but only momentarily until were forced back into the oppressive cauldron and caustic environment that Fitzpatrick has sustained.

What to expect (when you're expecting) Growing up listening to a lot of dub and roots reggae in our teens and still continuing to do so until today, it is a particular pleasure to us to present the first DUB release on PP. Courtesy of Konrad Wehrmeister (another Munich local), who in the past laid more focus on his technoid musical tastes. Having released under his own name or as part of formations such as Günther Lause' or Twoman' on labels like SVS Records and Paradise Now. The outing for PP focuses on his efforts as a producer of the more mellow and laid back audio treatments - creating a dense atmosphere that instantly sucks you in - so cherish the moment and explore the sound cosmos that is offered to you within the three Nutty Dubs. No matter if high or low - the levels you wanna reach are definitely worth the cheat. Dive in and get carried away (no expectations necessary).

J-Zen is a French producer signed on Dooinit music, his style is a mixture of heavy beats and samples crushed to the point of making them unrecognizable.

He made his debut on the beatmaking scene with his first beat-tape called Breakfast, but it's with Guilty Pleasure EP, alongside Shawn Jackson and Substantial and released in 2010, that he really revealed himself to the public.

Since then, he's collaborated with Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime on the single 'God Music', a custom-made production for the California duo, and has shared the stage with the greatest (DJ Premier, Dilated Peoples,...)

His first album Managua is available now. Started between Rennes and Paris, recorded in California, Berlin, NYC, Paris, Portland, mixed in San Diego, mastered in LA and Costa Rica, this project and J-Zen have traveled a lot to finish their trip in Managua, where he stayed for a few months.

Following his recent trilogy albums; The Great Depression, We Got Lost and Wisdom Of Life, Doctor L (aka Liam Farrell) teams up again with Comet for a special limited vinyl edition of the best tracks from this trilogy: Immigrant For Ever.

Sound activist for twenty-five years, Doctor L go through the musical galaxies as an incandescent comet, still fusioning from the 80's Punk Rock, to Hip-Hop music, and from the start of Electronica, to the rebirth of the international Afrobeat.

In years 2000, already on the label Comet Records, he was able to bring Lagos´ afrobeat towards the third millennium with the album Black Voices from Tony Allen, and then even sent him to the moon, with the special opus Psyco On Da Bus.

More recently Liam Farrell produced the successful debut album of the Congolese band Mbongwana Star described by Rolling Stones USA as 'heady and high-energy Afrofuturist collaboration'.
