Tapper Zukie is not only a successful recording artist in his own right but a well respected producer also.
In the mid 1970's he set up his own record label Stars to help nurture the many artists who were rising in Kingston,Jamaica.
In doing so he created a great catalogue of Reggae music that few artists have bettered.
For this release with the help of Tapper Zukie himself,we have picked the highlights of the Star label to make this great album.

Re launch of the Classic reggae label from the 1970's.

Well Pleased and Satisfied's debut album from 1978.



The vinyl version just features the 1978 debut album re-issued on 180 gram vinyl in its original sleeve.

Der 1957 in Kingston geborene Dennis Brown ist einer der bekanntesten Reggae-Sänger aus Jamaika. Wenngleich er es außerhalb der Insel nicht mit der Popularität von Bob Marley aufnehmen konnte, so genoss er als "Kronprinz des Reggae" in seiner Heimat nahezu den gleichen Respekt. Vor allem auch deshalb, weil er seit den beginnenden 1970er-Jahren bis zu seinem Tod 1999 rund 75 Alben aufgenommen hat. Seine produktivste Zeit hatte Brown, als er in den 70ern mit Winston Holness, besser bekannt als Niney the Observer, zusammenarbeitete. Für Brown war Holness ein echtes Karrieresprungbrett. In der nicht gerade armen Produzentenliga Jamaikas nimmt Niney the Observer eine herausragende Stellung ein. Seine Lehrjahre absolvierte er bei Bunny Lee und Lee "Scratch" Perry. Neben Brown produzierte Holness unter anderem auch Sugar Minott, Delroy Wilson, Ken Booth, The Heptones, Jacob Miller, Junior Delgado, Dillinger, Gregory Isaacs, Johnny Clarke, Horace Andy und Freddie McGregor. Viele Reggae-Klassiker entstanden unter seiner Ägide. "Dubbing At King Tubby" enthält insgesamt 18 Stücke, die Niney the Observer mit Dennis Brown im Studio von King Tubby einspielte, und die vom Großmeister des Dub persönlich einen finalen Schliff bzw. Tiefgang verpasst bekamen.

Das Pendant zu dem unveröffentlichten Keith Hudson Album "Tuff Gong Encounter" von 1984! Mit Musikern von Bob Marleys Backing Band The Wailers, u.a. Carlton Barrett (Drums), Aston "Family Man" Barrett (Bass), Junior Marvin (Gitarre) und Earl "Wire" Lindo (Keyboards), in den Tuff Gong Studios eingespielt, sowie mit Prince Jammy als Verantwortlichen für den Mix, hatte der legendäre Produzent, Sänger und Dub Pionier Monate vor seinem überraschenden Tod am 14.11.1984 ein sehr starkes Team zusammengestellt. Alle Aufnahmen wurden von Kevin Metcalfe gemastert.

"Los Angeles is 72 suburbs in search of a city," said the poet Dorothy Parker; "the beauty parlour at the end of the universe," says actress Emily Mortimer. You don't need to tell Canadian multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Krgovich. His sleek future-pop has revelled in LA's twin beauty and darkness for years now.



It was the backdrop for last year's cult acclaimed solo album On Sunset. Now comes another set of twilight tales of darkened boulevards and sun-soaked mansion pool sides, and the ghosts and eccentrics who inhabit them. The Hills is 12 tracks of analogue synths, intricate melodies , lush strings and slinking rhythms, as labyrinthine and intoxicating as the city that inspired it.



Krgovich - best known for his work with No Kids, P:ano and the 1960s girl-group influenced Gigi, and for collaborations with the likes of Mount Eerie, Nite Jewel and Dirty Projectors' Amber Coffman - began writing The Hills in a snow-covered hut in the Rocky Mountains in the winter of 2008, before taking to his aunt and uncles' lake house to write more. "I would write every day all day and then make dinner and watch 30 Rock at night," he explains. Influenced by "what I guess people call sophistipop - Prefab Sprout, Talk Talk, The Blue Nile and Sade" to name a few, Krgovich gradually found songs coming together that told the stories of an "amalgam of characters that are at times acting out feelings or thoughts I've had. But sometimes they're off on their trip."



The result is a companion piece to On Sunset that careens through ideas and sounds with invention to burn. 'The Place Goes Quiet' is a snappy, danceable blur of intimate poetry ("we take a table in the shade and say goodbye to the afternoon, shopping bags hid under the table, coats draped over the arm of your chair") and jaunty piano, zipping to conclusion in a tangle of clever vocal arrangements. Then there's 'Backlot Detail' - all cinematic blooms of violin, until Solange-style vocals from Sufjan Stevens collaborator Nedelle Torissi send it spinning into new territory. 'Mountains of Song' meanwhile pivots on a deliciously 1990s hip-hop beat, layering brass over lyrics about "being in a place where everything should be lining up but none of it does. So you just kind of simmer in that feeling, letting it win," says Krgovich.



Elsewhere on The Hills, there are moments of feather-delicate baroque darkness ('Written In The Wind'), muted 1980s R&B ('Lookout Point') and slap-bass wig-outs packed with atonal sax ('Out Of Work Jazz Singer').



Recorded with Colin Stewart in Vancouver at The Hive Studios, and mixed with John Collins at his JC/DC Studios, The Hills is something that Krgovich simply "wanted to share. I want people to get something out of it.

Hailing from Montreal, Poirier is a producer who doesn't sit still for long. From his frenetic soca and hyped up dancehall styles to the rootsy reggae and often filmic sounds, during his 15+ year career he has covered a lot of bases. Previous releases on Ninja Tune and Mixpak have seen a wide array of fans come flocking to his sound. Constantly evolving and shifting, "Migration" is an album that draws all of it together, moving from inspirations and genres, pulling them apart and putting them together again, fluidly building a sound all of his own and planting a flag in the musical map. Electronics meld with acoustic instrumentation while warm tropical sounds rub up against stark digital soundscapes, disparate sounds and styles flowing easily into each other with no boundaries. It is indeed no coincidence that the album is called "Migration" - a key issue at the moment, no matter what continent you're on. As with any Poirier album, the guests make up as much of the sonic tapestry as anything else. We find legendary NYC dancehall chatter Red Fox make an appearance on the lively single "Jump" (supported hugely by David Rodigan and Toddla T). Versatile producer Machinedrum teams up with Poirier for a deep electronic post-dancehall tune 'Kypoli' while long-time collaborator Face-T turns up on "Positive Up"- a dubby dancehall rhythm and later on the 'future dancehall' stylings of earlier single "Why' and also "Likkle Money". Similarly, previous collaborator MC Zulu steps up once again to give his unmistakeable energy to "Keep It Rolling" and "Universal Peace" and Haïtian vocalist Fwonte supplying the summer vibes on the konpa meets rocksteady styled "Pale Mal". Other like-minded musicians such as Dubmatix and Riddim Wise also bring their flavours to the table, completing a truly international line up.

Soulshine Musik is a fresh new U.K.- based record label founded by vocalist and song writer Amelia Harmony.

The label is in its first year of production and is already making waves accross the roots reggae dub scene. Amelia Harmony has had vinyl releases on various labels such asKing Earthquake Productions, Instrument Of Jah Productions and the mightyMellow Vibes label to name a few. Soulshine Musik is dedicated to keeping the rootikal vibrations of all genres of reggae alive, working with artists and producers across the globe to create timeless musik.

*Restless Mashaits hailing from Geneva are based around the core of Jil and Stuff. They released a sizeable amount of new roots classics throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Recently becoming active again, they are best remembered for the sessions they recorded at Kingston, Jamaica in the mid/late 90s with legendary musicians such as Vin Gordon, Dean Fraser, Deadly Headly and Dizzy Moore. The original releases have been since long deleted, but some are now unearthed thanks to Partial Records.
* This blazing horns instrumental `Good Conquer Evil' is another bonafide classic which was originally released in 1999, which features Dean Fraser on saxophone and Nambo Robinson on trombone.
* These are alternative cuts to the one previously released

* Since the legendary shows at The Jazz Café, the sound of London Elektricity has always effortlessly lent itself to a live setting. Today is no different as we present two loungecore classics with band-driven twists by Gentleman's Dub Club and KYX Orchestra.

* Stripping back the drums and serving up the bass is Gentleman's Dub Club with their dancehall re-rub of 'All Hell is Breaking Loose'. Springing from the roots of Leeds, Gentleman's Dub Club have been making reggae and ska shakers get on their feet with their huge Reggae anthem High Grade. This version of 'All Hell is Breaking Loose' is already a firm favourite for the summer sets of Sir David Rodigan and undoubtedly set to shine throughout the festival circuits.

* On the flip side, originally opening the seminal 'Power Ballads' LP of '05, London Elektricity's 'Out of this World' has been reborn with a flavour of big band jazz from Prague's KYX Orchestra. This is a virtuoso cover in the style of Whiplash minus the psychotic bandleader. Well we haven't actually met KYX's bandleader but we're hoping he's a bit more chilled.

Keith Hudson's classic dub album, undoubtedly one of the finest dub sets ever released. This all time classic Dub album was originally released in 1974 and is jam packed with ultra-heavy bass and drum rhythms propelled by Carlton and Aston Barrett (better known as the Wailers' rhythm section) which collide with snatches of vocal from Horace Andy, Big Youth and Hudson himself.

More than 40 years after the record's first release the raw edge of experimentation still shocks and excites. Unavailable since its last re-issue on the now sadly extinct Blood An Fire label.. here the album is presented on JUNIA WALKER's own JUSIC INTERNATIONAL label!! According to the sleeve notes, Walker more or less commissioned the dubs herein from Hudson for his Black Equinox Sound System. The sleeve of this release also features Walker in a photo intended for the original sleeve, though the album ended up with the more familiar smoker under a palm tree when it was originally released unbeknown to him in the UK.If you know your roots dub, you know you have to stock this!!

Congo Natty, auch ehemals bekannt als Rebel MC, ist zwar nur ein Mann, aber genauso auch der Kern einer Familie und ganzen Bewegung. Mit "Jungle Revolution" veröffentlicht er nun ein Album, welches den Fokus klar definiert. Auf zehn Tracks zeigt Mikail Tafari aka Congo Natty, wie er Jungle heutzutage sieht: Als Re-Boot mit den Wurzeln von Reggae für ein neues Jahrhundert. Voll mit Herzblut, feuerigem Bass, Drum-Breaks, tollen Hooklines, berechtigter Angst und den Vorzügen der Liebe ist dieses Album eines jener Art, die so roh, spirituell und schön sind, wie selten ein Album dieses Genres. "The message of reggae is Ras Tafari and Ras Tafari is love", erklärt Congo Natty. Diese Message wird vorgetragen mit Hilfe vieler Freunde, darunter an den Vocals u.a. Top Cat, General Levy, Daddy Freddy, Tippa Irie, Phoebe "Iron Dread" Hibbert. Die Produktionen stammen u.a. von Serial Killerz und Benny Page. Abgemischt wurde das Album von On-U Sound Legende Adrian Sherwood und Skip McDonald! Dieses Album zeigt, dass Congo Natty mehr als eine Legende ist. Er ist ein Revoluzzer, und die Revolution nimmt nun ihren Lauf.

* After a full studio refurbishment, during 2014, Alien Dread is now back in operation and returns with thefirst of the new releases for 2016, with a special instrumental project, featuring top Jamaican musicians Alvin Davis & Asha Barnes.

The 7' features as a basis for the main track, a fully adapted part of the main theme from the 1971 UK movie: Get Carter, under the French film title, "La Loi Du Milieu". All tracks feature new and original instrumentation and arrangements from Alien Dread, Alvin Davis & Asha Barnes. The 7' A side features the Hornz Version and the B side the Hornz Dub Version.

Both tracks, plus Flute Vs, Congo Vs and Ambient Vs are available on a limited edition Digipack CDEP (Iron Sound IRONCDEP 03).

master trombonist. Shortly after leaving school, he became a member of the famed Eric Dean's band, playing alongside Ernest Ranglin, Tommy McCook, Lloyd Brevett & Lloyd Knibbs amongst others. He was soon joined by Don Drummond, to whom, this album is dedicated. Ironically, the album also stands as a Tribute to Rico, who also passed away in the Fall of 2015.

However, in the early 1960's Rico decided to leave Jamaica and emigrated to London. His instrumental virtuosity eventually gained him many sessions and gigs, most notably with R & B combo Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames. In later years he featured as a member/player of the Specials and also with Jool's Holland's "Rhythm & Blues Orchestra".

This re-issue finds Rico back in 1969 with the opportunity to blow over contemporary Jamaican rhythms from legendary producer Bunny "Striker" Lee. Early in that year news arrived from Jamaica of Don Drummond's passing. Bunny and Rico learned of this and immediately decided to record a tribute album to this world renowned trombonist. The album's rhythms emanate from the Bunny Lee All Stars, with the trombone overdubs and the vocal interjections by Gene Rondo (aka Winston Laro), laid at T.M.0 Studios, London, in mid 1969. The album was completed in 4 hours, which is a testimonial to the trombone skills of Rico! .
