Recorded at Quatermass Studio in London - the HQ of the British cult band The Heliocentrics, - the new album has been produced by legendary UK drummer and producer Malcolm Catto. Alongside the Heliocentric albums on Now Again / Stones Throw, Malcolm is responsible for producing great albums such as "Inspiration Information" by Mulatu Astatke, "Jaiyede Afro" by Orlando Julius and "The Last Transmission" by Melvin Van Peebles. Not only this but Malcolm regularly collaborates with artists such as Floating Points, Quantic, Dj Shadow and Madlib.
So a new producer and a new life for Hannah, who is also now backed by the Affirmations, her new super tight band from Bristol - who will be touring the record too. The musicianship has ramped up several gears since Hannah's first album, bringing a welcome flare of excellence which punctuates Hannah's heartbreaking vocals and embraces Malcolm's tight, psychedelic production. Mixed totally analogue, and mastered on tape, "Late Nights & Heartbreak" includes 13 tracks of visceral soul with a touch of psychedelic atmosphere - as evidenced by the first single:"Tame in The Water". Fans of Tramp Records may remember the band "The Bionic I". Their song "Disco Claus" was featured on the third volume of "Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party". Actually, the "City News" are none else than "The Bionic I"! Eric Dunbar, member of both outfits, got introduced to the piano at age 5. In 1969 he started playing music with the "City News Band", a New Orleans Rhythm & Blues band. "Bustin Up" is the side unless you like the Kung-Fu craze inspired "Chan The Man" that was around in 1975.

Since its formation in 2008 the band has been taking the UK funk scene by storm, building a loyal fan base, again and again sweeping reviewers off their feet in a blitz of energy, showmanship and ferocious musical talent. The band is led by star drummer Pete Ray Biggin, the band's MD and predominant songwriter - a drummer of cult status as a member of the drummerworld elite, and a regular performer with leading bands, including Level 42, Incognito, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway and Mark Ronson.

Surprisingly urban R&B flavored debut from LA producer/DJ influenced by his diverse collection of Afrobeat, Brazilian, R&B, psyche,& rare new age, but made almost exclusively w/analog synths + drum machines in the Joshua Tree desert.

Nastradamus is the fourth studio album by American rapper Nas. It was originally scheduled to be released as a follow- up album composed of material from recording sessions for his third album, I Am... (MOVLP1643). Due to bootlegging of the material, Nas decided to record all new material under the title Nastradamus to meet its November 1999 release date

"Of course I am inspired by the classic sounds of the Sixties and Seventies coming out of Detroit, Memphis or Philadelphia. But I grew up in the middle of the English countryside. We had no ghetto or deal with social unrest in the streets. One more time we choose two little known gems for re-release on 45 rpm single. Another single by the same group is pretty in demand by funk 45 collectors. These two sides are not that much known but they certainly deserve the same attention. While Funky You is pretty good, uptempo funk, the B-side is the real beauty of this record. Love Come Down is a fine example of Chicago soul which has not been re-released yet. Hopefully many people appreciate the work behind this release, from both the original musicians as well as those who are responsible for this high quality re-issue.

Mocambo is proud to present the official 45 release of the holy grail of European rare grooves. With arguably the funkiest vocal delivery in German language and its killer 60-second wahwah-ladden drumbreak, Su Kramer's "Weisser Sand" has gained legendary status among DJs and deep funk collectors.

Recorded for the pop-opera TRIP by Austrian television in Vienna in 1971, the song appeared in a dance-scene in the very musical-like TV film about a hippie guru. German label Telefunken released a promotional record of the soundtrack in very limited numbers for radio and TV stations only. The song has since appeared on several bootlegs and compilations, using a mediocre recording off a vinyl copy and overcompressed CD mastering.

We dug a little deeper. After unsuccessful research of the original master tape at both Austrian TV archives and Telefunken, Su Kramer herself got us in touch with Peter Müller, sound supervisor and recording director of the original sessions. Not only could he give us interesting background information, he also unearthed an original tape that included an alternative version with different vocals and mix. The musicians on the recording were, according to Peter Müller: Karl Ratzer, guitar, Richard Schönherz, keyboards, and most likely Manuel Rigoni on drums and George Dogette on bass. The horn section probably consisted of players from the ORF bigband.The music was written by Austrian jazz icon Fatty George, who was also in charge of the production. Silke Schwinger wrote the lyrics for the entire opera.

For this release, all songs were taken from best analogue source possible and carefully remastered by Michael Schütz to represent the sound of the original master in full dynamics on superior 45 format. Included on this release is the original version of "Weisser Sand", the never-heard-before alternative version, and the semi-instrumental "Sexsong", from the TRIP soundtrack. The 7inch-single release comes with a replique print of the original album artwork.

The CD included in this vinyl edition features the 15 tracks in the same order Short info: Mr Oizo (aka Quentin Dupieux), the French producer and pioneer of modern electro alongside Daft Punk, Air and Cassius simply can't and won't stop working. Doktu Rhute Muuzic (formerly Roy Hytower) has enjoyed a full career from his late teens to this present day, a career that spans over 50 years. His first experiences were singing around Mobile, Alabama. In 1962 he came to Chicago, replacing Mighty Joe Young as rhythm guitarist for Otis Rush. Often adopting a soul-slanted sound, Hytower cut a handful of 45rpm singles in the 1960s and '70s for several local labels such as Avin, Expo, Brainstorm, and Jiffy. In June 2016 his tune "Song Of Deliverance" was featured on Tramp's "Peace Chant" compilation. In recent years Roy Hytower has self-released a couple of CDs, however under his new moniker, Doktu Rhute Muuzic. "I'm In Your Corner" and "Tip Jar" were released on two different CD albums. This is the only chance to get these two wonderful tunes on vinyl. Don't miss it!

On the flip side, more familiar popcorn tempo with a terrific rendition of 'I Really Really Love You'

It all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled "Feeling Nice Vol. 3". After the deal was completed producer Fred Forsh mentioned that the backing band of Nadine Brown's masterpiece "Leave Me Alone" had released a 45 themselves under their name Teakwood. After Mr. Forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. What was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. Mr. Forsh told us that Teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. Forunspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. Finally, we are very proud to announce the release of Teakwood's debut album "A Distant Star" in early 2017. Until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.

Starting life as a small New York event aimed at raising awareness for Fela Kuti's musical message, Rich Medina's Jump N Funk party has now been rocking dancefloors across the globe for over 15 years. Honouring Fela's contribution to music as well as his political and cultural legacy, Medina has made his events a platform to celebrate Afro-Life across the Black Diaspora.
With guests such as Wunmi, the cast of Fela! On Broadway, Asiko and Antibalas providing captivating live performances, Jump N Funk is so much more than a club night. In creating this compilation to represent the spirit of his events, Rich Medina has chosen an eclectic selection of undeniably afro-tinged,
unashamedly life-affirming music. With most tracks either referencing, sampling or inspired by the great man, the record also includes material by Fela himself,
as well as son Seun Kuti and long-time band member Tony Allen the inventor of the afrobeat set drum syncopation that is equally as notorious as Fela and his message... The album's artwork has been lovingly created by Lemi Ghariokwu, the fabled Nigerian artist who designed some of Fela's most iconic covers. From
the record's sleeve to the music contained within, Jump N Funk is a cultural artefact with one foot in the past, the other in the future. An echo of Fela's message: a reminder to celebrate, to empower, to progress.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Billy Hawks was based in Philadelphia and worked with his trio up and down the Eastern seaboard. He was discovered playing in one of the area's many clubs and lounges and recorded his first album, The New Genius Of The Blues', for Prestige in 1966. Heavy Soul!', an organ-heavy mod R&B masterpiece, followed a year later. Produced by Cal Lampley at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, Heavy Soul!' included the latter-day London club favourite 'O'Baby (I Believe I'm Losing You)', the lead track on this latest release in our limited edition 7-inch EP range. Beautifully packaged in the classic London American style, the cover features the only known photographs of Billy, provided by his brother Leroy, a singer in his own right who recorded two rare 45s for Philly labels. Introduced to the UK's jazz scene by Baz Fe Jazz and Gilles Peterson in the mid-1980s, 'O'Baby' become a staple of the more discerning clubs, a clarion call to the dancefloor. Unfortunately, Billy died in the early 80s, a little too early to enjoy the album's rediscovery.

Moody and malevolent, male vocal popcorn burner from jazzy crooner Lew Conetta. On the flip, we've paired it with an alternate cut of bluesman Jimmy Rogers' super low-down 'What Have I Done', a track so similar to 'You Got Me Crazy' that it must have provided the inspiration (maybe 'inspiration' is a bit of a kind term, considering just how simialr, but both tracks are so good that we're feeling generous!)
