A software engineer at Ableton by day, Sieren's love for UK influenced bass music and field recording and experimental soundscaping has resulted in this masterly EP of atmospheric street-rave soul. This is his first release since his debut LP 'Transients of Light', released earlier this year on Christian Loffler's Ki records.
Fittingly, fellow Apollo cohort Synkro was instrumental in the curation of the Static Polymorphism EP - hand picking the tracks, as well as road testing them to memorable effect on Berghain's hallowed system no less.
'Neglection' opens the release, with billowing widescreen pads, a ghostly 2-step drum figure and pulsing subs, 'Rebase' ratchets up the intensity, with sinister bass drones punctuated by strafing perc and hissing ambiance while 'Relicts''s angelic yet melancholic atmosphere pulls the listener in with heart-aching synth washes and whispered female vocals. Closer 'How To' pairs mechanistic slo-mo funk with caustic 808 kicks, muttered vox and juddering bass stabs.
This is richly textured and intricately programmed post-bass music that is sure to satisfy fans of Burial, dBridge, Akkord with its soulful sincerity and warmth.

TQD is the side project of UK producers Royal T, DJ Q and Flava D, who have been tearing up the decks as bass music's most esteemed crew for the past few years.

Comprised of Royal-T, DJ Q and Flava D, t q d shouldn't ever really be referred to as a 'supergroup' because the drive behind the project is simpler and a lot less contrived than that tag implies. Simply put, t q d is a project that features a trio of music making friends who've united under a single name to make jacking dancefloor music that's inspired by the sounds of classic UK garage and bassline. Since their first collaborative foray with 'Day & Night', which was released on Butterz in 2015, t q d have rather emphatically proven that their three way formula works, appearing in clubs and at festivals the world over they've been consistently shaking up scenarios with their high octane blends of (largely) their own music across 4 deck sets. Following memorable sets on the Boiler Room and live turns at Warehouse Project, Leeds Festival and Boomtown, Royal-T, DJ Q and Flava D have been hard at work putting together their ten track debut album, ukg - a bolshy mission statement that encompasses the full spectrum of the garage sound. When you look at each party's discography separately, whats immediately obvious is their shared love of a 2-step beat, a hellish hoover bass and all those cleverly edited vocal ticks. Their debut album is the culmination of that love, with t q d channeling everything from heady, energetic bassline (on 'Vibsing Ting'), to ghostly Burial-scapes (on 'Only One') and lounge instrumentation (on 'New Day').

Leading lights in the 21st century UK digi dub/roots scene Dubkasm have built themselves a worldwide following for their brand of reggae since launching their own Sufferah's Choice label in 2003. What many fans may not realise is that even before that first Sufferah's Choice release, Dubkasm had nearly a decade's worth of recordings behind them. Unfortunately those early recordings were nearly all the preserve of leading UK sound systems such as Aba Shanti and Jah Shaka and could only be heard played off dub plates at dances. Dubkasm and Bristol Archive Records now share the story of those early years and make a selection of those formerly exclusive tracks available for everyone to enjoy.

Keith Tenniswood returns in 2016 with Dub Vault Vol. 2, the second emission of dubwise productions under his Radioactive Man moniker, originally recorded a decade ago while based in Scrutton Street Studios. A long time fan of roots, reggae and dub here he fully indulges in the genre whose keystone bass weighted sounds have informed the electro-focused designs he is predominantly known for. Explosion begins the EP recorded utilising new toy at the time, a Korg ESX1 sampler and sequencer, resulting in simple but crashing dancehall beats with a diliinja style bassline that is pure roughage. Second track Razor sees Tenniswood also take up the guitar as well as beat programming in this track named after the 'Stepping Razor' Peter Tosh and a nod to his music hero Adrian Sherwood and On U Sound vibes.
Blazer rounds off the EP, a collab with long term dub head and band member with Keith from Bargecharge (check Fuel Records early releases late 90s) James Foster. Tape echo and distorted bass make up the thick sound of this track.

Infernal Sounds is discharging its fifth hefty, system-affine release, adding another highly regarded talent to their roster. Having featured revered producers like Von D, Sepia, Causa, Shu & Perverse, the label has clearly positioned itself in the front row seat of the modern dubstep movement. Representing a combination of upholding the values of system music with a 21st-century take on sound - the next release, catalogued as 'IFS005' is stylistically congruent and adds to the discography in total.

It is now time for highly talented Sub Basics (Tom Woods) to augment the imprint's discography with his ridiculously massive incarnation of bass music. His debut vinyl release on the Canadian imprint 'Visceral Vibrations' in 2015 has garnered ample amounts of positive reception by esteemed figures in the scene like Versa, Syte and J:Kenzo. After an equally praised 10' dubplate release ( Give Dem') in 2016, we now find ourselves in the silence before the thunderstorm, that is this very record. His upcoming release includes three tracks, two of which will feature on vinyl (A. Horus/ B. Cartel), while the third 'Northern Lights' will be a Bandcamp-exclusive.

Diving into the sound at hand, his arrangements are closely aligned and firmly true to the origins of Dubstep - conjugated with extreme clarity, as well as preposterous amounts of weight and gravitas. The impeccable execution of his minimalistic sound design will leave this release rumbling on soundsystems around the globe - and will most stay a fan's favourite draw from the record bag for a good while.


Perfectly displaying a refined sense of dynamics with 'Horus', Sub Basics effortlessly squeezes every available ounce of air out of the system, while preserving an immense sense of space. The highly infatuating groove of 'Cartel' is mingled with a sweltering foundation - tied together through his meticulous attention to detail. As etheral pads complement the gnarly drum reverberations and bird's cries recoil - the listener is left in a surreal world of the 'Northern Lights' - apprehended by the sonorous magnitude of the bassline. Completed by creamy atmospheres with tape-echo-esque characteristics, this whole release is sure to tick all your boxes from top to bottom - IFS005 has already received support from J:Kenzo & Foamplate among others, therefore the pre-order is strongly advised.

Dub-Stuy's riddim series returns with a fresh take on a Jah Shaka classic Dub-Stuy returns with the second installment of their riddim series in which the Brooklyn-based collective pays homage to the tradition of Jamaican dancehall riddims with a fresh modern twist and versions from an international line-up of vocalists.Following an update of King Jammy's Punanny riddim on the first release of the series, Dub-Stuy is taking on yet another classic. This time, DJ Madd brings the classic Kunta Kinte riddim into the 21st century with rolling drums, floating percussion, and weighty bass anchoring the timeless and irresistible melody that has come to define the riddim for generations of fans. First brought to the attention of UK dub fans by the mighty Jah Shaka , and originally recorded by a little known band from Battersea, Kunta Kinte has become a staple of dub music's evolution, with its eponymous flute melody making numerous appearances over the decades in both underground and mainstream hits. For their 2017 edition, Dub-Stuy has brought three different vocalists from Jamaica and Europe to voice the riddim in a positive stance: Kingston legend Burro Banton preaches to the youth on 'Nah Sell Out'; Rider Shafique, whose unique voice and delivery has been a hallmark of the Bristol scene for the past few years, travels Over The Oceans to celebrate the links between worldwide sound system fans; and finally France's Shanti D takes a break from his work with OBF to bring it all together Inna Different Style. With Kunta Kinte Riddim 2017, Dub-Stuy takes us on a journey through the history of a famed riddim, connecting both style and sound from past dub sessions to current dancefloors.

Long overdue appearance from one of the OGs in this, Beneath, finally on Hotline - back when he had just released the first NoSymbols white labels, he was one of, if not the, first to take UK funky darkside, injecting that sense of dread that is integral to the UK's underground sonics. It's a sound that he's been refining for a while now - from those early hand-stamped whites to standout records on Tectonic and PAN, to name but a few. Having already introduced the UK to Gqom back in 2015 — a variant of raw, stripped back South African house emanating from the city of Durban — London imprint Goon Club Allstars have tapped scene kingpin DJ Lag for an explosive four-track EP. Widely credited as one of the key players for shaping the Gqom sound as it exists today, Lag's eminence in South Africa is well-documented and on his new EP, he exhibits everything that makes it tick, fierce, powerful drums, mazy rhythms and bubbling club patterns. Like the sound he presides over, Lag's work is uncompromising, but emphatic — and designed to impact. Compiled from a vast back catalogue stretching back over four years, the EP showcases his sound to the fullest - from the bubbling sgubhu track, '16th Step', to the classic Gqom styles of 'Ice Drop'. As with Rudeboyz debut Gqom 12' for the label in 2015, the EP also revels in a sense of discovery, boosted by a relationship between artist and label that goes way beyond the norm. The duo DubDiggerz, hailing from the depths of Slovenia, have been stirring up soundsystem culture a fair bit the past few years. Even though the two-headed moniker has been taking part in this movement since its inception in 2011, both Mark and Daniel have already given life to some of the heaviest dubplates. These have been in steady rotation since their very first productions were finished and cut to lacquers. Their tailored focus on the meditative properties of basslines, to-the-point percussion and perfectly executed dub effects make every 'DubDiggerz' cut a special occasion. Without surprise, this has already led to support from some of the most established names in Dubstep, including Joe Nice, Distance, V.I.V.E.K, J:Kenzo and Sleeper. Mark and Daniel have a promising release schedule in 2017; releasing their first music on vinyl thanks to the trust of America's Dubstep Ambassador Joe Nice and his acclaimed Gourmetbeats imprint - something both producers are very grateful for. Their involvement in the DeepEnd! movement, 'a like- minded group of individuals conspiring to advance their soundsystem culture concepts', will result in their consecutive vinyl release - and more be unveiled later this year. BazzWarz is the producers' bi-monthly radio shows, which is broadcasted via the DJ's live-streaming community Chew.TV. This and their respected DeepEnd! sessions have given them the opportunity to invite international producers to the show and play exclusive material from around the globe, soon streaming their 100th broadcast - with the first broadcast aired in 2011. Los Angeles based up-and-comer Oxóssi excels in utilizing his lifelong exposure to a diverse range of music, which has allowed him to successfully craft his highly eclectic, ambient and bass heavy style, one that blends his deeply rooted musical upbringing with his own creative individuality. His atmospheric and unconventional take on raw bass music production enables his listeners to be transported beyond the music itself into different mental spaces, facilitating a form of meditation on music. With releases already on Banana Stand Sound (BSS001), Crucial Recordings (CRUCIAL005) and Silent Motion (SMV001), Oxóssi is well on his way to infecting the underground with his unique musical personality.Oxóssi is making a valiant return to Sleeper's Crucial Recordings imprint for his newest release, CRUCIAL011. This blistering, four-track EP sees the rising bass music artist shattering genre boundaries and abandoning stylistic expectations with its unorthodox, yet equally infectious and highly volatile grooves. Oxóssi's CRUCIAL011 boasts mercurial melodies jam packed with avant-garde moods, undeniably fresh attitudes and energetic, forward momentum, forcing listeners to rethink what they've come to know about bass music. Glyn "Bigga" Bush began his production career with Rockers Hi Fi in the early 90s, co-writing several studio albums, a host of remixes and the infamous DJ Kicks - The Black Album. In 2000 he went solo as both BiggaBush and Lightning Head, making albums for Sonar Kollektiv and Stereo Deluxe as well as many more remixes. His sound reflects his love of dub reggae, analogue synthesisers and intricate rhythms, with influences of samba, afrobeat, the deep dubscapes of Rhythm & Sound and most recently the more interesting end of 140bpm bass music. This EP is his first vinyl release since the late 00s and takes in a number of bass-heavy rumblers with classic BiggaBush twists and turns, starting with the steppas delight of Mangrove Monkey, relentless subs and skanks of Sounds & Blues, post-dubstep breaks on Dash Way Com and finishing with a minimal 4/4 FX soundscape on Footsie Index.
