As you may already know about it, the artist COSTELLO (who is living in Bordeaux at the moment) is releasing his first EP on Boxon Records. Dead Moon, a three-piece from Portland, Oregon, were known for their own particular brand of rootsy garage punk. Their music conjured images of hard-luck easy riders and lovers against the world. While their sound alternated between moody and aggressive, it was always remarkably genuine and energetic. The band was fronted by the husband-and-wife team of Fred and Toody Cole. Many years and many bands later (after living through experiences as varied as homesteading in Alaska, dodging the Vietnam War draft, and hunting bears), the two formed a punk band called the Rats. Later, after adding Andrew Loomis on drums, Dead Moon were formed in 1987. Going South is an incredibly intense live recording from the band's legendary 20-date first tour of New Zealand. Recorded before an audience of about 40 people in Invercargill (Keith Richards called it "the arsehole of the world"), this is Dead Moon at their most savage and intense, the way they were meant to be heard! Toody Cole recalled that the band had been invited to open for Nirvana that year, but one of Fred Cole's ironfast rules was "never cancel a gig you committed to for a better one." So Dead Moon burned through New Zealand as planned. Recorded live at the Glengarry Tavern, Invercargill New Zealand Saturday September 5th 1992, and repressed for the second time in a small edition.

Joy Anonymous is the brainchild of Henry Counsell, a collective encompassing music, live events and the deeper mission of bringing people together over lockdown.
Henry and his production/creative partner Louis Curran started out delivering a series of spontaneous performances at London’s South Bank: soon, the sight of two silhouettes in camping chairs on the Thames beach evolved from just passing strangers into a genuine movement, all brought together via Joy Anonymous’ love of connection, community, and dance culture. This is vividly captured in Joy Anonymous’ first project, ‘Human Again’: a genre-spanning body of work, whose elements of house, soul, disco and pop has seen them earn early co-signs from the likes of Fred Again Fred Again and The Blessed Madonna The Blessed Madonna. Capturing the collective’s innate spontaneity - field recordings of their now-legendary parties can be heard throughout the record - ‘Human Again’ is as much a poignant time-capsule of what it means to be alive right now as it is a future-soundtrack for good times to come.

Wednesday 24th November - Kojey Radical, one of the UK's most influential musical voices, today announces details of his highly-anticipated debut album. It features guest appearances from Tiana Major9, Masego, Shaé Universe, Cash, Kelis, Lex Amor, Knucks, Shakka, Wretch 32, Ego Ella May and Rex Life Raj and his own mother (whose voice weaves throughout the record) alongside a who's-who of global production talent including KZ, Swindle, Jay Prince, iO, The FaNaTiX, Cadenza, 169, Venna, Ric & Thadeus, Blue Lab Beats, Emil Larbi, Mr Cutts and Ed Thomas.
Having already made such an indelible mark on British music it's hard to believe that Kojey Radical has never released an album. Over four previous EPs, Kojey Radical has given people greatness but on Reason To Smile he's striving for perfection. In the late 1970’s Cazeaux O.S.L.O.’s mother contributed to the Brown [read Black is beautiful] American cultural treasure chest by dancing on a television show called Soul Train. This is fresh, truly fly and absolutely cold crush. He made a song about it. That’s the truth. It was first performed at an instore appearance at Northside Records in 2018 which brought the house down and Chris Gill has been hassling the band to release the song ever since. It only seems fitting Northside ended up pressing this gem to wax! On the A-Side we have the original version in true So.Crates boom-bap soulful fashion, and on the B-Side Skomes digs into his UK Garage roots and ups the tempo for the club! Fresh!
