The second record in the three-part Grumptronix series contains 2 highly-sought-after electro tracks, 'Black Orchid' & 'Pocket Rocket', produced in 1996 as the only release on the Erotic City sub-label, Silicon Audio. The precision-engineered machine funk rhythms have since become one of the 'holy-grail' electro records that have evaded collectors without the financial-clout to bow to sharks. Both reissue tracks are drum machine-driven with their sights set on the horizon of electro and sound design and still sound as relevant today as they were breath-taking in the mid-'90s. The B-side offers two previously unreleased and unheard tracks produced around the same time - lost in time until recently re-discovered on aging DATs. 'Subfactor' moves and sways behind galactic pads and electronic rhythms while 'Dub Sea' transports the listener to the depths of an icy ocean, filled with low frequencies, that is most definitely located outside of our solar system. All tracks have been mastered from the original DATs with care and love by the ears and hands of Simon @ The Exchange.

Native Cruise’s new release is just in time for the summer, bringing a relaxed take on house that laps at your ears like a warm sea. We’re happy to have got some of his time - he’s been releasing on No Bad Tapes, Fruit Merchant and YAM Records. He pitches the release as “a mixture between house, tribal and balearic not sure what else”,so it’ll be hard to file neatly, but we are glad he’s made this lovely EP.

Beautifully Designed 1LP, 180g Vinyl Press kit: Following his Extended Play EP on Other People last year, Jream House is the turbulent and spiritual debut LP of Mark Hurst aka A Pleasure. Blending mathematical composition with an unrestrained studio experimentalism, the sound of A Pleasure charts a space where formative influences confront the most immediate performative impulse. Using a process of numerical transposition, the names of personally significant bands and composers are converted into drum patterns. He then lets loose, improvising around these structures with a variety of traditional and unorthodox instruments: bass and guitar, bowed cymbals, drum machines juggled like turntables, blowtorch on aluminium, to name but a few. With his influences as start-points, he builds rhythmic structures literally in their namesake, blasting their hulls with walls of noise, monolithic basslines and any other jam-yielded shrapnel. Despite the chaos and complexity of the process, the results sound neither clinical, nor garbled. The tracks always find their way to an emotive melody or strong groove. Lush guitar strums and yearning keys ride the high-speed beat of Slow Channel", which seems to soar through cloud-cover as one snaking mass. The Order of Things' folds a cosmic guitar-part into a backdrop of heavily side-chained noise. Arthur Russell' features a neck-snapping rim-shot and crushed snare that splash up the bits of an elegiac vocal part. Through violent and idyllic atmospheres, Jream House jettisons its inspirations like landing shuttles, always in search of new ground. These are songs, not just experiments.

With roots in the early developments of modular synthesis and free jazz and revered amongst the most discerning collectors of international jazz, electronic music and American avant-garde, the experimental drummer known as Bruce Ditmas occupies a firm branch on contemporary experimental music's family tree. As the one time romantic partner (and artistic collaborator) of sound poet Joan La Barbara (later to be Miss Morton Subotnik) and the stand out session drummer for both Robert Mason's mutant synth Stardrive project and Gil Evan's legendary Jimi Hendrix tribute band, Ditmas is best savoured as the first recorded solo artist to utilise Robert Moog's lesser-known Moog Drum controller - an instrument which over the course of two 1977 independent LPs (Aeray Dust and Yellow) would become synonymous with his blooming reputation.
Raised in Miami, nurtured in New York City and willingly exploited internationally, Bruce's public life as a child prodigy-cum-world jazz crusader (drawing similarities with the likes of France's Jacques Thollot) has seen him spread his select discography over many imprints, including Joan La Barbara's own Wizard Label, Enja and ECM - socialising with sound designers like Suzanne Ciani and collaborating on projects penned by Annette Peacock, Paul Bley and his long running collaborator Enrico Rava. Spending the last thirty years travelling between America and Italy as a full-time jazz musician whilst working with inter-communal music initiatives, film directors and theatre groups, Bruce has retained the same maverick passion and macabre creative influences channeling brutalism, futurism, science fiction and psychological horror through his percussive mantra and avant-garde approach to instrument manipulation and recontextualisation.
These selected titles are extracted from various recordings made over the last three decades comprising field recording techniques and percussive manipulation resulting in gritty tonal soundscapes and angular sonic sculptures while drawing theoretical comparisons with European proto-industrial units like Germany's Faust, Swiss electronic jazz pioneer Bruno Spoerri, Czech sonic illustrator Milan Grygar and sprawling generation of Parisian musique concrète informed anti-melodic luminaries. Reflecting a lifelong career in active melodic drum exploration and vivid existential sound design, this record provides an alternative, darker, meditative, glimpse into the work of a proactive composer at his non-conformist best in the uninhibited confides of his own home analog studio.

Christer Bothén's new LP on iDEAL is a beautiful creation moving comfortably between improv, sound art and drone. Christer Bothén is a main character in the Swedish improv, jazz and world music scene. He studied music in Mali and Morocco in the 70s and collaborated w Don Cherry. Bothén has been active in bands like Bitter Funeral Beer Band, FIRE! Orchestra, Mats Gustafson NU Ensemble, Spjärnsvallet and Bolon Bata.

John Cohen aka Dead Fader first arrived on the label in 2016, with It Works 1 - a brace of warping, high energy electronic music compositions that while largely unclassifiable in genre, maintain a gloriously vibrant, emotive sensibility that owes much to early IDM excursions, and the more abstract tenets of the Krautrock genre. That said - the artist cites anything from Kanye West to Bach and back again as informing the decidedly experimental and potentially confounding work - and his latest offering for the Milan based label continues to riff on this open ended mesh of influence to great effect. The new LP, Jenny 153, runs out across nine tracks and operates at the fertile juncture between Classical and Club Music compositional structures, and examines the crossover points between the two disciplines. According to the artist, the work deals with themes of acceptance and an 'opening up' emotionally - and a palpable sense of catharsis runs deep through the recordings. Colourful and undeniably cohesive, in spite of it's rhythmic complexity - the recordings present a vital snapshot of the potential space that exists on the periphery of the dance music genre.

Mutant jungle forms, hazy glitch experiments and trance inducing downtempo collide with sharp percussion and dense low end on this latest Alter 12'. Helm's recent 'World In Action' EP for The Trilogy Tapes is reworked by a whole host of favourites including Laurel Halo and Parris who offer up two distinctly different takes on 'Blue Scene'. No Symbols boss Beneath turns his hand to title track 'World in Action' with that typically murky, deconstructed club aesthetic whilst Parisian mainstay Low Jack gets deep on the A2, his five and a half minute version of 'Candy' sounding like a cross between Nuno Canavarro and Whitehouse. Delivering what might well be the records most subdued moment, Brussels' Sky H1 slows 'After Dark' way way down with some barely there auto-tuned vocals helping to bring things into the fold.'

TERRENG - a constitution of an open-ended landscape of contrasts defining space both in time and depth. a set of structuring elements forming by its positionally interaction a common platform created through its dimensional properties.

The drums and electronics on TERRENG trade off each other at times creating a sense of improvised space, but also comes together in parts to form a narrative structure of almost concrete sensibilities. Where the instrumental identities gradually bleed into each other to form a flowing texture of sonically defined terrain.

The multi-layered structure of the two tracks presented here draws upon a well of material, sources and references. Pandi and Wesseltoft build up a detailed and idiosyncratic work by the use of their constructive material. In parts quiet and open. In other parts chocked with information and intensity. Beautiful and fractured. Chaotic and meditative. TERRENG is a highly dynamic blend of improvisation, and a narrowly constructed electro-acoustic narrative.

Balazs Pandi is a versatile drummer with an almost encyclopaedic level of experience ranging from improvised music and modern jazz, to metal, noise and experimental electronics. Here he at times performs the role of improvising drummer trading off the collaborator, and at other times creates an almost ritually constructed sense of rhythmic space perfectly embedded within the overall structure.

Jon Wesseltoft is a musician and composer with a long history of work within the often overlapping fields of improvisation, sound-art, noise and electro-acoustics. He has a longstanding interest in musical systems and its concepts of representation, and psycho-acoustics and the phenomenology of sound and its narrative power. He has explored this interest in various forms ranging from solo work to various collaborations and projects to larger ensemble work.

* The second chapter in Petit Singe's travel through Akash Ganga comes in the form of four remixes curated by members and friends of the Haunter Records extended family. They all applied their peculiar agencies and experience to the original recordings.
* Danse Noire boss and spiritual explorer Aisha Devi combined elements from all the tracks of the album with her own production to assemble Necromedia', a powerful take on the sidereal source material. Haunter veteran Weightausend delivers a psycho-dub version of the frantic OXO', while Zuli (of VENT and UIQ fame) deconstructs the same track turning into a kind of post-human and post-colonial beat he labeled Astrogangsta'. The final track is an alteration of the album's finale 27.09.87' by Canadian experimenter Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, who let it mutate like a self-sufficent biodigital organism, opening it up for new experiences.

The now long running and still essential RZONE series hits release number 18 with four more busy and bristling cuts of club focussed weaponry. 01 has huge and coarse claps and skittish drums, frazzled synth lines and a rising sense of sci-fi tension throughout. It's a blizzard of sound that is unrelenting. 02 is much less full, and instead its menace comes from a dark, gurgling bassline and razor sharp hi hats. Stomping drums drive it along and at various points things pull back to a creepy, paranoid synth line. 03 is a mix of intergalactic sonar pulses, roaming and writhing synth lines and clattering drums and perc that push and pull you in many different directions at once. It's intense and mind melting before 04 takes a step back and layers up the sound of uncontrollable machines with pained synths. It's an unusual yet tender track that sounds like little else.

Sophia's first release since the much acclaimed Singulacra (Kathexis, 2016), Irregular Territories provides a definitive example of Loizou's sound as it firmly asserts her music in a rarified hauntological rave headspace that meticulously explores an exploded deconstructionist style that she's developed since her 2014 debut Chrysalis.

With one foot in late '90s halcyon daze, and another toeing the future, Sophia combines a lust for the ruffneck with a sharp mind for complex structural integrity and inventive aesthetic. Synching fragmented beats with human gasps, choral synths and richly ephemeral textures, she bridges temporalities and dimensions in a way that recalls an auditory DeepDream composite formed from millions of eyes-shut moments at Metalheadz sessions.

Album opener Loop of Perception quite literally takes off like a jet engine in the rave, while Memories of Angels conjures and sustains a lump-in-throat suspense through unresolved pads and hide 'n seek breakbeat edits, before it all comes together, gelled by wide, pressurized subs in Shadow Box.

The brief vignette of hoover and percolated vocal motifs in Frozen Dust opens up the B-side like some Arca and EVOL collusion, and The Interior Life of Another feels like a jungle inception of 4Hero's Parallel Universe, leaving the poignant Morphogenesis to sum up the metaphysical flux of her sound in febrile detail

Conceptually linked to its predecessor Silent Earth from 2016, Refugium delves deeper into the same vision of a peaceful and apocalyptic utopia. Taking an intimate and introspective point of view, the album explores the quiet and in-between moments of being. Using hypnotic patterns, organic pulses and complex layered drones, Refugium is ambient music that spins around its own set up atmosphere. It evokes a pendulum of emotion and thus creates an in-between moment all by itself, a refuge, a haven.

Hessle Audio welcome @laksauk to the label with three tracks of rowdy and forward-thinking dance music, following his last release on Timedance in September.

On the A-side, ‘Fire Kit’ sees the London-based producer and DJ approaching his sound from a different direction, with dancehall infused percussion offset by enveloping layers of sub-bass warmth at 95bpm. The B side jacks up the tempo with a raucous energy as the temperature drops to below freezing. Basslines rumble in ‘Belly Brocka’ and ‘T’s Tent’ like an approaching storm and snares lash through the mix like ice picks, with the broken rhythmic energy driving the dance forward in 2021 and beyond.

Running the club night and monthly NTS show ‘re:lax’ with re:ni, Laksa has been consistently pushing bass mutations since his early EPs on Beneath’s Mistry label. Love All Day is pleased to present Facets, our third collaboration with renowned contemporary electronic composer, Norm Chambers (Panabrite, Jurgen Muller). As the title implies, it's a many-dimensional work, and one born from a time of crisis in Chambers' life. Created in the spring of 2019 while experiencing health issues that were ultimately diagnosed as being a rare form of sinus cancer, Facets reveals Chambers efforts to push himself to places he hadn't gone before ----to try to rid himself of old habits & embrace potentially unsuccessful creative attempts, whatever the result. Faced with a sense of urgency & riding a creative wave, the tracks came together quickly as he explored new creative vistas ---his familiar, bucolic landscapes now occasionally interrupted by craggy rhythms and aural horizons that fluctuate like air on desert sand. Concerned that these works would be his final statement, he quickly released them digitally as he awaited surgery & chemotherapy to treat his illness. After his near brush with death & subsequent recovery, we're extremely grateful to have the opportunity to re-present this singular work by one of our favorite artists with deliberate intention and care as a long playing album.

Growing up in Milton Keynes, the largest of the "new towns" outside of London designed and built in the 1960s, perhaps explains why producer Nicholas Worrall is subconsciously drawn to clearly delineated sonic structures and flawed techno utopianism, two concepts that are ever present in both his sound and aesthetic approach to music.

Wordcolour was formed just two years ago, at a time when Worrall was habitually cutting up and splicing human voice samples ripped from YouTube memes, film dialogues and musique concrète tapes.

The first artistic demonstration of these ideas arrived in 2019 via his mixtape “I Want To Tell You Something” for the Blowing Up The Workshop platform. This unique set immediately grabbed the attention and support of the specialized music press and media, including Pitchfork and Resident Advisor.

“Tell Me Something” is Wordcolour’s official debut EP and heads straight for the dance floor. It is comprised of an unusual melting pot of influences that fuse the UK club sound, post-dubstep and a style akin to Paul Lansky's ‘90s musique concrète. “Tell Me Something” offers a vibrant leftfield, avant-garde techno and edgy electro, all immersed in the vast cosmos of the human voice.

Yahshu is seeking something he has never heard before, bringing influences into his work from a huge spectrum. Created using a combination of live strings, samples and synths, the three tracks on 'Somebody Else's Dream' invite the listener to witness a conversation of sound, as if one sound was asking a question and another answering it. What that conversation is, we'll let the listener decide. The EP was originally written 10 years ago but has since been developed and refined, finally coming to life through RYSUNKU.

Yahshu is also the founder of RYSUNKU. 'Somebody Else's Dream' is the first release on the label. RYSUNKU releases innovative sound work in very limited numbered vinyl editions.

So states the photocopy insert from the 1985 November LP on Cordelia Records. Home to R. Stevie Moore, Rimarimba recently reissued by Freedom To Spend - and label owner Alan Jenkin's The Deep Freeze Mice, Cordelia was home to a menagerie of sound collage plucked from the ether.

Included is the only vinyl release from Concept City, spreading across 13 instrumental tracks of samples and noise. The Welsh choir and robovox meets hypnotic bass of Open The Network glides to the acoustics of Jayne Andrews and Filament, before Steam amasses TV ad cassette archives. As Etruria and Lapse Wine's Durutti meets reel-to-reel to the cold wave of War, Children and wasp synth of Helsinki, Grant slowly unfolds a masterpiece.

Looped drum samples, multiple layered to tape, sped up and slowed down for phasing, the title track is a pinnacle of 80s DiY genius. 'Crossroads' multi-sampling Meg leads to the exotica 'muzak' closings of Penetration and Friends. With just 5 albums over 40 years the music of Mr Concept can be a discovery and cherished.

Magic Carpet" is the first Compilation of the German Label "Harmonie Exotic". Jose Manuel selected 12 experimental ambient tracks from the 1982 to the 1994. They are combined by the same feature, namely the magic and mysterious character. Even though all the (remastered) tracks released in different countries, such as Japan, Italy, and France, they are all combined in being rare and obscure songs. In most of them it is possible to verify the oneiric melodies mixed with the different drum machines, typical of that year.

For this reason, they show how the magic has been developed over the chosen years, as they were all enveloped from the same carpet. Starting from this idea the Compilation's title plays an important role in anticipating the dreamlike listening experience.
