DJ Spinn is one of the founders of Chicago's Teklife's crew, who alongside the late DJ Rashad is credited with bringing the culture of footwork to from the streets to the world. Spinn has appeared on lots of tracks with DJ Rashad, but this is his debut EP debut for Hyperdub, and the sound of a producer at the top of his game. From the opener 'Throw It Back', DJ Spinn effortlessly consolidate energies from all over into footwork's 160bpm grid, a rough, creeping acid line rubbing against chopped and screwed rap, over a system-destroying hip hop beat, before a huge drop heralds in double-time kicks. 'The Future Is Now' is an intense minimal track with a gnarly repetitive melody that bleeps somewhere between acid and 8-bit dancehall, before the drums roll into double pace and a vortex of synths build up into a frantic double-speed, with claps keeping pace at half time. 'Off That Loud' is a tribute to weed, rapped lyrics layered and chopped into stuttering patterns against 160bpm drums over a bed of the most gentle rhodes chords. The final track features the talented Detroit MC Danny Brown and is co-produced by the late DJ Rashad. Rashad, Spinn and Danny hit it off while on tour in the US and Danny recorded this rap for them, celebrating footwork's Chicago roots. Chopping between jungle breaks and bass, a high speed jazz guitar and Danny's chorus over footwork kicks and bass, it's a chant-a-long anthem for the scene and the finale to an exciting debut.

Archeo Recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure (and forgotten) rare gems of Italian music of the 70s and 80s, and not only. Following two solo albums on his own False Idols imprint,
Tricky announces a new collaborative project. Skilled
Mechanics is a loose collective with rotating membership
that allows Tricky to work with a variety of different artists,
while at the same time pushing his unique vocal talents to
the forefront. The most prominent of these collaborators on
the new record is DJ Milo, who is not only one of his oldest
friends but also the first person he ever recorded with, not
to mention his introduction to The Wild Bunch.
One of the most enigmatic voices on the forthcoming
project belongs to the Chinese rapper and producer Ivy
. Tricky explains: "I was in Beijing for a show and I met
this guy who managed her. He told me that she wanted to
work with me so I asked for her to send a vocal track with
some drums to me so I could do my thing to it. She's so
different! So raw! The strange thing is, I've had the track for
a while but I only just found out that she's not rapping in
Chinese. I ain't got a clue what language it is. I have no
idea. It might be completely made up but whatever it is, it
sounds wicked. I'm lucky that with my label, False Idols, I
don't need to worry about things like this. I'm never going
to have an A&R guy saying to me, 'We don't understand
what she's saying.' Because we don't need the support of
commercial radio. It was my real good luck meeting her
and she's definitely going to be on the next Skilled Mechanics
album as well."

Cultured Dutch label Shipwrec is to team up with Frustrated Funk to release "North Bend", a new album by 214 aka Chris Roman. The 2x12" album lands on Shipwrec in late June, after an EP on Frustrated Funk earlier in the month, and is an absorbing nine track affair. Chris Roman hails from Seattle in the US and releases under this name on labels like Frustrated Funk, Harbour City Sorrow and Touchin' Bass. He also released as J. Alvarez on the labels Hypercolour and La Beaute Du Negatif and is a prolific producer with an abstract sounds that touches on electro, techno and plenty in between. The album itself features atmospheric techno ambient with scattered beats, lush electro that is filled with true electronic soul and cosmic soundscapes that come from another world. The art that comes with the LP is drawn from the artist's local area, where he takes great inspiration and influence, as he does from his Frustrated Funk label peers ERP, Versalife and Plant43 to just name a few. Together with these artists, this album is furthering Roman's own signature sound as well as a new and subtly evolved brand of electro that builds on a rich history of electronica. Kenneth Roman features on one excellent track, which whips and snaps with a real sense of futurism. Elsewhere, "North Bend" sounds slick, emotive and is produced with a crisp excellence, so this album is another fine statement that reminds us just why Roman, the Frustrated Funk and Shipwrec families, are such puristic minds that push music from the heart.

Slovenly Recordings presents a new black jewel in the rough from Australia: Melbourne scuzz squad PRONTO, and their self-titled LP will steal your purse n' pills before kicking holes in your speakers! 'Pronto' hits hard from the gate with a rare breed of aggression that mercilessly attacks your better senses with scraping vocal chords, three or less guitar chords and brash, unrelenting rhythmic fuckery. This decroded piece of plastic devolves from hammering rock'n'roll into psyched-out meltdowns, never neglecting the breed of anthemic choruses that were perfected during the first wave of UK punk in a twisted post-punk application. Pronto is making good with ruthless threats of thuggish damage. They're knocking at your door, and you need the hurt.

'Piece Of The Indestructible' represents a continuation of the story from their second album, 'Love, Death and Immortality' (2014). Released on Glitch's own Glass Air imprint, it reached #13 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, #1 on the iTunes Independent and Dance charts, received massive critical praise from all quarters, and sold over 50,000 copies.
'Piece Of The Indestructible' offers the requisite concussive bass, foundation-rattling drums, and soul-liquefying synths while revealing the versatility of edIT (Edward Ma), Boreta (Justin Boreta) and Ooah (Josh Mayer). The entirety of the new EP was written at the group's respective home studios. The process was spontaneous and raw. The product is pure energy.

Hisham Akira Bharoocha is an artist currently based in New York. He concentrates on creating music, visual art, and photography. Hisham is well known in the underground music scene for being a founding member of the bands Lightning Bolt and Black Dice. After leaving Black Dice, he created Soft Circle, a solo project that allowed him a more personal exploration of his own musical interests. Hisham recently collaborated with Doug Aitken on a sound piece performed at the MoMA, which led to this release at Station to Station.patten is an undefined exploratory project currently operating from London. After numerous ultra-limited CDRs on Kaleidoscope and the first official LP, GLAQJO XAACSSO via boutique UK label No Pain In Pop, patten signed to seminal electronic institution Warp, with the EP EOLIAN INSTATE and album ESTOILE NAIANT following soon after. Touring with intense live AV shows across Europe, North America and Japan over 2014, the project continues to splinter out in all directions through the high hit-rate imprint Kaleidoscope (Sculpture, Karen Gwyer, Yearning Kru, Orphan, ALAK...), lysergic cross-format collaborations with visual artist Jane Eastlight, and the immersive club night series 555-5555.
The Vinyl Factory has partnered American multi-media artist Doug Aitken and the Barbican to bring his acclaimed 'Station to Station: A 30 Day Happening' to the UK for a month-long, building-wide, art intervention, from Saturday 27 June - Sunday 26 July.

London producer Kit Grill returns fro his first outing on Vase after a series of unique recordings for the likes of GETME! and Primary Colours in the past year.

Berlin based Lorenz Brunner AKA Recondite pays homage to his Bavarian homeland in new sophomore LP 'Hinterland'
For many great artists, going back is the way to move forward. With this in mind, Berlin-based producer Recondite looked to his homeland of Lower Bavaria for his debut Ghostly International release, Hinterland. "I tried to capture the area's mentality and natural environment within the album," he explains. "Particularly the moods that behold the emotions of the four seasons, which dier a lot in this region." In fact, most of the eld recordings featured in this 10-track LP were taken in his recent visits to the free state in southeastern Germany. Recondite's production career has only spanned a handful of years, but his versatility with electronic music as an expressive medium puts him beyond others with discographies twice as long. He began Plangent Records in 2011 as a means for releasing his own music in limited batches. Lush, gorgeous, and vibrant are three words that can often describe his original productions, whether it's oating in a beatless ambience or driving a hard rhythm through the soundsystem of a nightclub or warehouse. His debut album came out in 2012 on the Los Angeles-based Acid Test imprint, and quickly put him up alongside labelmate Tin Man, who oered a remix for the On Acid LP. The record also included one from Scuba, who'd mixed "Backbone" (Plangent #002) into his 2011 DJ-Kicks. Eventually, Hot Flush released a separate single for "The Hope" - Scuba's recent hit - exclusively featuring two dierent Recondite remixes. Hinterland is another step forward in Recondite's progression, maintaining a style all his own and acknowledging the nest moments in his previous releases. It's no small feat to incorporate one's observations of human nature against nature, and to lay it out in such a way that is cohesive, linear and sonically beautiful both up close and from a distance. "Characteristics of people's minds," he says. "Such as satised, frightened, calm, melancholic, sad, stoic, frustrated, strong, deep...they are captured in the sounds."

While the record can be enjoyed in one long listen, there are going to be dierent tracks that speak to individual listeners. "Clouded" is one of the stronger arrangements, taking the sonic sweeps often heard from Marcel Dettmann or Function and lling the surrounding space with dreamy samples and warm bass. "Stems" is playful and uid, and the record's opener, "Rise," is an eerie and melodic tinkering intro. As a whole, the release of Hinterland on Ghostly International is a perfect marriage - the label has always had an afnity for music with depth and frequencies that can magnetize a wide variety of listeners."Basically, this is the album that had to come out of Recondite eventually," he adds, smiling. "It is Recondite."

Introducing the vinyl re-release of "Hundred Eight Stars" from beat smith fat jon the ample soul physician, also kown as Maurice Galactica, producer of legendary Hip Hop crew Five Deez, and one half of Rebel Clique amongst others, this album contains rare "vinyl only" releases from fat jon's expansive catalogue. These tracks were originally compiled onto one CD for the people who weren't able to get the various vinyl releases: some of which have been discontinued. This will be the only way to get your hands on all of these tracks in one beautifully packaged vinyl collection.

Bereits der Vorabtrack "New Glass" zeigt jedoch, dass diese Erwartungen keineswegs zu hoch gesteckt sind. Er gewährt Einblick in die elementare - aber auch sehr persönliche - Musik auf "Salt". Geschrieben wurde "Salt" in einer ländlichen Gegend von Essex, inspiriert von Leathams zufälliger Entdeckung eines Lagerhauses und der anschließenden Erkundung dessen. Als sie mit der Arbeit zu "Salt" begann, lud sie sich ihren besten Freund und ehemaligen Labelkollegen Dogtanion von Tape Club ein, um ein erstes Feedback zu den Tracks zu bekommen. Gemeinsam beschlossen sie, die Stücke in den Red Bull Studios aufzunehmen. Leatham holte sich Jacob Welsh von The Hics und Mark Rainbow von Laurel Collective mit ins Boot, die ihr bei der Produktion unter die Arme griffen. Nachdem der Großteil des Songwritings und Aufnehmens getan war, kehrte Roseau zurück zu ihrer Familie, wo sie letzte Feinheiten vornahm und den endgültigen Schliff an ihrem erstaunlichen Debüt unternahm.

Hammer '86 by The SM Corporation (sws003) will be available as a limited edition 12" vinyl. The package also includes a download code for the Hill Street OST (sws004) by Great Lakes Mystery.

Recorded in 1986 but unreleased until now, Hammer is an electropop record underpinned by an industrial baseline and metallic percussion. The band recorded the track using metal workshop implements, on a cheap Yamaha keyboard with an attached microphone.

Riding high on the back on the successful debut outing of Dos Palos in November 2014 which saw critical acclaim and support from a whole heap of righteous music aficionados including CHRIS COCO // KON // PAUL "MUDD" MURPHY // LEXX // ASHLEY BEEDLE // JASON BOARDMAN // BILL BREWSTER // SEAHAWKS // DOM SERVINI // MOONBOOTS // ALFREDO // STEVE COBBY // DON LETTS // LEO MAS // KELVIN ANDREWS // MICHAEL RUTTEN // MO MORRIS plus more Dos Palos have been reworked and remixed by Seahawks, Neil Diablo and and in-house label musical lynchpin, B.J.Smith.

The Seahawks mix of 'I've Been Around' pushes the boundaries of the psychedelic elements to create a truly tripped out version with fractured vocals and a simple cantering groove and adding elevating synth chords and subtle brass to coax the listener in and lifting the track towards the heavens gate.

Neil Diablo flips 'Lady of the Westway' and has created a deeper vision for the track, underpinned with tougher percussion this has the 'Lady' walking the empty streets of (INSERT CITY HERE) at 4am on a Spring morning as the sun is rising... Neil works well with Robins 'cello arrangement and enhances it with powerful accompanying chords and chopped vocal refrains.

Last but certainly not least we have B.J. Smiths 10m + excursion, built with the DJ in mind and those twilight Adriatic dance floors Ben adds solid rock chords and added hammond vibes give this an edge and chugging that builds before dropping off for that 'calm before the storm' moment... After its peaked and reached its crescendo the fade out is pure DJ heaven, the haunting vocals continuing for the mix out... Lovely.

This 12" package on luxurious 180 gram vinyl, and spined 3mm proper sleeves is one for the wax collectors in us all...

Nozinja is Richard Mthetwa, an electronic music producer based in the Limpopo province of South Africa, and the charismatic architect of the Shangaan electro sound. From its roots as the frantic heartbeat of Nozinja's rural locale, where dancers convene at weekly street parties, bouncing on their heels and shaking their bell-like xibelani skirts in the ferocious heat, Shangaan electro has become a recognised genre in its own right, a burgeoning, radicalising influence on dance music worldwide. Explosive, ecstatic and celebratory, it's the head-spinning collision of the soulful traditional song of the Shangaan people with the high-speed energy and limitless possibilities of cutting-edge music production, and it has ensnared the ears and limbs of dancers, beatmakers and DJs alike.
Micachu is the stage name of Mica Levi, a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Levi's music, experimental pop, is a boundary-blurring mix of hip-hop-tinged beats, found sound samples, singalong melodies, rock guitar, and the odd vacuum cleaner or two. Micachu is now producing music with old school friend, Tirzah who has released some of the most intriguing dance-pop to date.

Mumdance, aka Jack Adams, a producer and DJ from Brighton, whose trademark raw, riotous rhythms - drawn from Grime, UK funky, Brazilian baile funk, Caribbean calypso, American Baltimore Gutter, Afro-beat, High life, and Latin ghetto music such as tribal guarachero - have been electrifying dancefloors worldwide over the last couple of years, providing him with a hectic DJ schedule which criss-crosses the globe from Australia, Mexico, North America, Europe & all over the UK.
The Vinyl Factory has partnered American multi-media artist Doug Aitken and the Barbican to bring his acclaimed 'Station to Station: A 30 Day Happening' to the UK for a month-long, building-wide, art intervention, from Saturday 27 June - Sunday 26 July.
For the duration of the event, which features residencies, installations, live performances, workshops, screenings and more, The Vinyl Factory has created The Vinyl Factory Recording Studio to provide a space for musicians and artists to experiment and improvise and has installed The Vinyl Factory Press on-site to manufacture these recordings into vinyl editions.

This led to Biosoft Records which led to the discovery of Patronen, a man who made two album's worth of material (and probably more) on analogue machines in the early 90s and refuses to move from shadows. Twin Paradox celebrates this prolific, formative work across two albums. With the classic electro angularities and epic synthetic cosmicity are very much of their time, there's an overwhelming sense of timelessness and relevance to the project too. We reckon if you listen to cuts such as the poignant, reflective "Abstand" or the distorted, shuffling phrases and positive harmonics of "Karlsruhe Nach Basel" in 20 years time, they'll still sound just as icy and futuristic. We also reckon you need to jump on this investment now! With only 100 printed, this will sell out very quickly.

A very welcome return to the label release schedule by Belgian artist Sons of Melancholia. After having released his debut album 'Beauty is Imperfection' on diametric. in 2014 and a very successful contribution to John Beltran's compilation 'Music for Machines' for Delsin Records shortly after, it is with great pleasure to present the second album 'Silencer'. David Nizet has created another beautiful body of work, giving us another glimpse into his melancholic world. Yearning beautiful pads and strings are combined with eclectic beats and percussion patterns. Deep bass pulses provide the foundation for refined melodies and experimental rhythm structures. The album transports a feeling of hope, despair and the urge for completeness and you can feel the honesty and integrity of David's music throughout.
