Four 140 BPM bass bangers from the grime wonder boy Boylan (who also has some history in drum and bass, releasing for the likes of the legendary Bad Company) and the grime godfather DJ Slimzee, co-founder of Rinse FM, member of the legendary Pay As U Go Cartel and owner of Slimzos Recordings, Slimzee is a key figure of first generation grime who shot to international underground fame at the turn of the millennium, alongside partners in grime Wiley and Dizzee Rascal.
Boylan and Slimzee make an outstanding production duo and this debut EP is a testament to that, these beats leave a trail of destruction anywhere that they are played around the world, while crossing 140 boundaries and delivering unique bass music with weighty attitude.

Coveted beat-maker, DJ and long-time Coyote Records mainstay Last Japan is to release new seven-track track EP, 'LUNA' — a vivid collection of tracks inspired by the limitless possibilities of space, written to capture the 'atmosphere, architecture and people' of Bow in East London, where he has lived for the last four years. Having spent much of 2017 working on Circadian Rhythms, the label he co-runs alongside Blackwax and visual artists / fashion designers Jase Coop, William Francis Green and Dylan Tushar, 'LUNA' drops as his most extensive work since 2014 mixtape, 'Ride With Us'. Across seven tracks, he shifts between shimmering, expansive sound design ('Tether', 'Cold Skies') and the razor sharp, clinical grime productions ('U Wot MVIII', 'Squad', 'B4 All That') he has long been sought-after for. Rising London MC Prynce Mini also features on the slick and anthemic 'Wrong One', switching between gritty hood flows and his own infectious, auto-tuned hooks. This body of work runs parallel to my previous work released on Coyote Records', explains Last Japan, however my inspiration here feels more personal. For me, it captures the mood of where I live, the atmosphere, the architecture and the people of Bow. A winter-inspired body of work, it's a soundtrack to misty days and cold, crisp nights with Canary Wharf looming and the Shard and London's skyline in the distance.' 'LUNA' follows 2016 Coyote smash, 'Ascend' featuring AJ Tracey — a record debuted live on Boiler Room 12 months prior and widely regarded as one of the best grime singles of that year — and follow-up singles 'Exhale' and 'Dead 'Em', both featuring Killa P. Last Japan is also a regular host of Coyote Records' monthly Rinse FM show, presides over Circadian Rhythms' influential NTS broadcasts alongside Blackwax and is a frequent guest at Coyote label parties, playing his first ever all-night set in London back in August 2017. 'LUNA' will be released on limited 12', complete with pull-out poster and an untitled vinyl-only bonus track.

East Man is a new project from Anthoney Hart and its material predates his previous work as Basic Rhythm. His unique take on grime reduces the sound to its steely fundamentals, bringing in influences from dancehall, drum and bass and techno to gird the voices of the MCs he works with. His own name for this hardcore continuum mongrel is 'Hi Tek'.Anthoney struck a friendship with the academic and theorist Paul Gilroy, who wrote the album introduction.

* Walton drops his third instalment on Tectonic in fine style, calling upon Japanese influences to create a truly unique sonic across both tracks in the release. Asian instrumentation meets directly head to head with the cutting edge sounds of a UK grime-techno axis to great effect.
* 'Praying Mantis' captures all the charm of a fine Japanese watercolour painting by means of some spectacular midi-harp programming. Hi-hats and detailed percussion set a shuffling pace, building the mood up before a beautiful harp section unfolds and takes over, expertly programmed by Walton to sound as if a master harpist had stepped into the room! As drums and bass join the party we have all the makings of a low-slung grimey masterpiece, both soothing and energising in a perfect zen balance.
* Flip then for 'Koto Riddim' which again brings Japanese influences to the forefront of the track. Walton programs classic sounding Japanese percussion sounds along with grunting vocal cuts and a charming flute-based melody. As the track drops, it switches into a more familiar, grime-based palette of sounds, deftly arranged for most dangerous impact.

Keysound Recordings presents a weightless album from label boss Blackdown. 'Those Moments' is his first solo LP, features fellow 'Margins Music' contributors Trim, Dusk & Farrah and, like the imprint's Rollage sub series, is centered at 130 bpm. Each of the tracks is a distillation of a fleeting moment. The tracks and LP itself are short and constrained, relying on only voices, synths and sub bass. The album came about in a quick intense burst and many of the tracks represent snapshots of brief instances - a bitter-sweet moment of inflection, a moment of positivity, digital over stimulation, awe, loss, intensity, anger, nostalgia, regret, honesty, relief and joy. 'I'd had a tough 6 months...' explains Blackdown. 'I'd had to hold it together and not lose my nerve. Early on in the months I'd so nearly had a massive, positive life change but... it slipped out of my grasp. I was so focused on holding it together, I couldn't allow myself to really write music. Then, when things resolved themselves, and I'd figured out this new weightless way of working, 'Those Moments' just came flooding out. I'd heard other musicians talk about this - but that had never happened to me.' Recent releases from Rinse FM's Blackdown include a contribution to the #SaveFabric CD, three 4 track 12's of the new Rollage sub series ('WDYM!', 'Keysound Sessions Anthem' and the 'C-Troit' EP) and a remix of Jamakabi & Terror Danjah's 'Juicy Patty.'

Shaneera is the English mispronunciation of the Arabic word shanee'a, literally meaning "outrageous, nefarious, hideous, major and foul.' In one iteration of the word, as queer slang used in Kuwait and some Arab countries, a positive and desirable light is shed on these attributes. Shaneera refers to a gender-defying persona, of being an evil queen. You know a Shaneera when you behold one. Over five energetic club tracks, Al Qadiri explores this dark-sided character with friends Bobo Secret (the leading vocalist on the record), Lama3an, Chaltham, and Naygow, in their debut recorded appearance. The lyrics are suggestive, imploring, shady and loving, some original and some re-recorded material from Grindr chats, online drag and femme comedy skits. The language is a mixture of Kuwaiti and Egyptian Arabic, and one Iraqi proverb, Sonically, the record combines Khaleeji (Arab Gulf), Western drum kits and Arabesque melodies. On the cover, Al Qadiri appears as Shaneera, her evil extreme femme alter ego, the design inspired by stale pop diva record cover imagery from the Arab world. Conceptually, the EP follows Al Qadiri's long term exploration of gender identity and performance in the Gulf. Her natural look, at odds with the conventional presentation and performance of femininity in the region, is transformed on the cover into a maximum femme look inspired by a mid 2000s Kuwaiti trend of extreme makeup. What would pass at a cursory glance as femme drag was actually the norm at a specific time in Kuwaiti women's fashion. 'Shaneera' the record lands somewhere in an undisclosed setting and is a love letter to evil and benevolent queens around the world.

19 year-old Glaswegian, Teddy Lambert (aka Rapture 4D) turns in his official debut in the form of the 'Lambert & Yoker' EP for Astral Black. Across 6 instrumentals, Rapture 4D shows a maturity beyond his years, delivering a progressive debut that demonstrates why this young producer is heralded as the leader of Glasgow's new-wave described by FACT magazine's John Twells as blending 'post-TNGHT instrumental trap business with Bloom-ish pneumatic grime'.Without an official release to his name, Rapture 4D has created a name for himself amongst the grime scene over the past 18 months. The past few months alone have seen R4D taking up residence in Red Bull Studios, collaborating with grime scene OG's and contemporary peers such as P Money, Plastician, Flirta D, YGG, Lady Chann, Spooky and Capo Lee to name a few. This January R4D earned his stripes holding down an hours self produced set alongside his partner in Grime, Polonis, with the original grime kid Wiley handled mic duties to a frenzied Sub Club. Rapture 4D also currently holds the title of UK Beat Boss champ (as voted for by Jammz, Grandmixxer & Flirta D) with his remixes for the likes of AJ Tracey & Rude Kid finding their way in to top 5 charts for 1xtra.
'Lambert & Yoker' has already received support from DJ heroes Slimzee, Sir Spyro & the Boxed crew on their radio shows for London's Rinse FM, NTS & Radar Radio. 'Black Ice VIP' is set to be premiered by Complex Magazine, with support elsewhere from Mixmag & FACT Magazine.
It's undoubtably a press release cliche, but the talent and work ethic demonstrated by Rapture 4D proves he is one of the most exciting producers currently operating in the UK and this debut release is just the first milestone for this talented young producer.

Bleep Bloop is back with his newly revealed EP The Fifth Pupil EP, out October 13 on DJ Shadow's Liquid Amber label. The four-track EP is experimental Hip-Hop and bass music at its finest and arrives in conjunction with his biggest North American tour to date.
A throwback to the classic leftfield music from revered labels like Warp, Planet Mu and Ninja Tune, but with a modern twist, the EP ignites with with the gloomy title track which sounds like a blast of machine gun bass and percussion to the body, relentless to the end. Angry' highlights Bleep Bloop's diverse musical palette with a classic jazz percussion structure that feeds rubbery basslines into snare rolls. Man and Machine' is proper drill n bass, the soundtrack to an automated world where machine-lead processing overtakes the human touch. The EP' closes out with Angry (Paint Remix),' an alternate, more aggressive take on the original.
In addition to supporting Rezz and Zeds Dead on their upcoming tour dates, Bleep Bloop is on his own headlining The Fifth Pupil' North American tour through December. Notable stops include Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Denver, Chicago and many more.

Amsterdamian duo Know V.A. aka Feico De Muinck Keizer and Marjin Brussaard step up to plate for the second release of Signal Life's black label series 011-015. Having worked with the likes of DJ Shadow for his label Liquid Amber, Know V.A. present four tracks of dystopian club futurism inspired equally by their native gabber parties that the duo still occasionally visit as well as hardcore, bubbling, hardstyle and Atlanta rap manifested in a very distinct, unique, raw way. As the duo states, they are inspired by music that surpasses the function of just music and creates a lifestyle, adjoined with fashion, art and film.' The EP sets off with RIP, a nearly 10 minute epic of splintered grains and distressed, slowed down bubbling rhythms. Just To Hurt lurks in with equal doses of dancehall rhythms, icey synths and skittering alarms. On the flip, Xeno opens with a murky riff reminiscent of ATL rap's most prominent producers and rhythms mutate effortlessly between bubbling and rap in a way that will make any dancefloor move. The final transmission, Endless mixes grimey detuned squarewave leads, melancholy vocal synths and distorted bass. As Know V.A. phrase it, How would music sound in a club in a dystopian world We are slowly progressing to the end of the world, the future of the planet atm doesn't bring up an optimistic view.'

With a taste for dark, grimy substance, Czech imprint Harmless Youth leaps forward - proudly presenting their next release. With strong roots in Grime, Dubstep & Bass, it continues to serve as a basis for some serious dancefloor shells - label founders WZ & Insane continue to put forth. Besides radio play on stations like Radar Radio, Rinse.FM and BBC Radio with support from artists like N-Type, Ishan Sound, Madam X and Truth, the label has already gained a substantial following since their first release last summer - all thanks to the beat onslaught of co-founder WZ. Jonah Freed is now being welcomed to the roster alongside Farsight, featuring the intricate vocals of Rider Shafique to top it all off.
Cueing it up, listeners are thrown into a sea of complex grooves and preposterous weight without further ado. Toasting at its finest, Rider Shafique takes the audience for an impressive ride in 'Guns' - top-notch vocalist on a quality instrumental - no joke ting! Augmented by silky soul and subterranean piano samples, as well as lofty arpeggios all coming together perfectly. 'The Marshall Plan' kicks off with a desolate and atmospheric introduction, introducing lively arpeggio movements apace with power surges and frozen winds. With Ishan Sound's initial play on Boiler Room, this cut still causes a full-force shutdown, the monstrous oscillations in the bottom-end join the madness - leaving no fibre of you being un-reverberated. B-side business number two 'Septum' by Farsight reveals itself to be an eclectic flute ecstasy, covered in distorted 808's and grimy drums, no eye left dry. Fiercely stomping onwards, occasionally tamed by ethereal melodies. Dubbed as 'HY002', this massive 3-track instalment is exemplary for the imprints refined taste in both Grime instrumentals, as well as first-class vocalists.

BTG return with their 3rd release.
A debut vinyl release from Philadelphia's Gohda. A multi-coloured combination of shimmering grime synth work, spaced out beats that occupy somewhere between the boom bap of classic hip hop, the half pulse of dubstep and the skittering high-end work of southern rap knitted together with a soulful vocal & atmospheric touch not distant from that of the elusive Burial. Gohda's sound owes itself to both sides of the Atlantic but operates nowhere within them.
The vinyl only release sees remixes from BTG's very own Bulu, twisting the original into a dancefloor ready terminator & TMSV known for his genre expansive excursions on labels such as Black Box, Cosmic Bridge & Artikal again taking Gohda's soulful and playful original and turning it into a weighty dancefloor focussed banger.
Not to be missed for fans of genre defying, psychedelic bass-weight.

"Boxed (Mr Mitch, Oil Gang, Slackk, Logos) are proud present the fourth edition in their semi-regular survey of the further reaches of instrumental grime. Fresh from one of the biggest modern production houses in grime, Boylan and Oil Gang fuse classic jump-up sensibility and the dead-eyed swagger of classic Slew Dem productions on the anthemic 'Murder One'. Elusive underground yung gun Rebore completes side A with his first ever vinyl outing, the wild, chaotic FPS referencing 'Campaign'. Slackk and Logos helm the flip-side with an exclusive first time link-up on wax, sending weightless synth probes in to the distance on the colorful, hazy 'Moroccan Squares'. Finally Manchester grime mainstay and Chow Down affiliate Fallow rounds off the slate with his Boxed debut, the angular square wave funk of Rearmament.
