When it comes to freshly skewed and eminently weighty dubstep beats, Innamind Recordings' reputation as a leading vinyl platform
for the sound is growing by the day. The team of artists they have assembled all operate with the same ethos of building raw, highly
individual soundsystem music, and no-one represents the creative vision better than the precociously talented Gantz. Undoubtedly
one of the most in-demand producers in the scene, Gantz innovates and causes dancefloor ruckus in equal measure; ask any
discerning head to cite their favourite producers of the moment and Gantz will be mentioned more often than not. With that said,
Innamind Recordings are excited to be releasing another pair of gargantuan riddims from the Turkish badman for their fifth record,
due to drop this July on 10' and digital formats. It's a two-pronged sensory attack featuring the tussling polyrhythms of 'Lyrical Trick'
and the battle-ready, anarchic dread vibrations of 'Stayer', a pair of leftfield club tracks built with Gantz's unmistakable stamp of
ingenuity. The latter builds moodily like a brewing storm, as swarming orchestral tension floods an expansive soundscape, dense with
plunging basslines, FX-doused paranoia and percussive minimalism. On 'Lyrical Trick', Gantz throws any conventional ideas of drum
arrangement out the window and delivers a perplexing but obscenely heavy example of pure sub-frequency rudeness, full of complex
syncopations and propulsive energy. Support from all the usual suspects, and absolute 'system devastation guaranteed.

London bass-smith Rob Burn, after February's single tease, delivers his full Infinite Machine wax debut, under the moniker iO Sounds.

The A-side features "AFDW", a UKG house interplay of dancefloor-rousing vocal stutters and goosebumps-inducing R'n'B melismas, and "Tough Luck", which we've previously described as " a tour-de-force of everything of superlative appeal in electronic music nowadays", and which has not disappointed upon thorough club testing.

The B-side rocks "Bag of Snakes", which builds upon the style of the A-side tracks, while sneaking in more pervasive tech-house elements and a serpentine (wink-wink) progression, and "Always Something", a soulful next-gen deep-house number, featuring one of the most memorable hooks in IM's catalogue.

System music returns and are proud to introduce the unknown quantity that is KARMA with his release How Ya Feel / Smear.
How ya feel is a beautifully crafted dubwise track which initially sounds like the old rhythm and sound tracks that became so
formidable in the 90's. Karma has managed to create a masterpiece in his use of reverbs and delays that sit perfectly within the track.
The melodic bassline sits effortlessly with the vocal which transcends whispers of jah love. The track has a rough, noisy edge to it
which is so missed in this stagnant digital era. This track is a one of a kind. Truly mesmerising.
Smear dub takes us back in time when wobbling baselines were dark and gritty. This is a straight club banger. Coki-esque in its
format smear dubs groove is in an ever changing whirlwind of bass that seems to get deeper further into the track . Serious

The juggernaut-like production force of Killawatt returns to Osiris Music UK this summer to release a two part EP featuring his most
exploratory sonic creations yet; the Opposing Rhetoric EP. Part 1 is awash with churning industrial basslines and grainy textures,
combining imperiously bleak sound design and chugging technoid vibrations. The barren ambient menace of Two Curious
Gypsy's sets a disconcerting tone before launching into the steely, kick driven propulsion of Static Tension, a lurching beast that
builds momentum through its increasingly intense layering, psychotic FX and insistent percussion. The lean and minimalistic Unit51 is
swung by broken beats, as interlocking drum patterns spar with taut synth stabs, staccato kick-punches and rolling sub-bass
pressure; the EP's most dancefloor inclined track that exhilarates with its fluid movement and kinetic energy.

Kromestar returns to Om Unit's Cosmic Bridge label with 2 Left-Of-Centre and forward-thinking numbers that combine depth and

Next up on Don't Get It Twisted, a collaboration
between Blacks and Coki. Blacks is best known for
his work with his crews, Fatal Assassins and OGs,
alongside P Money and Little Dee. MC Blacks has
also collaborated with P Money on various other
projects such as 'Boo You' (Butterz) and the Blacks
and P mixtape.
More recently Blacks has released his debut
mixtape in which he collaborated with the likes of
JME, Durrty Goodz, Footsie and Crazy D. The Don't
Get It Twisted EP features the original Coki DMZ
version of a remix that features on
Blacks' 'Disturbing the Peace' mixtape. Bedouins on
the flip side is a straight up slice of Coki madness
with twisted horns, hypnotic eastern vocals and sub
bass to rattle the speaker stacks....

MUV005 is Catacombs' second outing on wax, and it's certainly a big one. The release itself sets a new benchmark for the MUV
imprint, and for Catacombs too as 'Music Mi Luv' and 'Badman Culture pt. 2' show the young producer relishing a new found energy
and pleasure in rhythmic expression, with the former's perfectly levelled bob and weave and the latter's quick step and dark techno
aesthetic. That both beats have been go-to tunes for two of dubstep's foundational DJ's, Hatcha and Youngsta, is a testament to the
balance they strike between defining a current sound and giving a nod to its future. 'Cursed' and 'Searcher', both collaborations with
label head Demon, combine Catacombs enormous kicks and precise sense of atmosphere and movement with Demon's penchant
for razor-sharp Reese basslines.

Taking ground across the clubs and sound systems
of the UK, bass-duo Mak & Pasteman have
garnered serious respect throughout club land.
Releasing across labels including Shifting Peaks,
Senseless Records & Sounds of Sumo, as well as
extensive radio-play from the likes of Mary Anne
Hobbs, Redlight, B traits, Toddla Tand Rob Da
Bank, they have laid down the foundations for their
own future sound.
Alongside their Juno chart-topping 2012 EP Do The
Same, it's their deft edits and reworks of artists such
as Larry Heard and Tyga that sets their reputations
apart...which leads nicely onto the next in their
series of bootlegs. Reworking man of the moment
Kendrick Lamar, and the late great Whitney
Houston under their M.A.P Alias, these edits are
enough to send any dancefloor into a frenzy. The
Kendrick Lamar edit touches on the more techno-
driven side of the UK scene, whilst the Whitney
Houston gives a nod to the UK garage scene circa
2000 with low slung bass stabs and rolling
percussion.
The turn of the new year saw them step up their
game from their solo projects & focus on
collaborative ones....

Few artists explore the rich creative scope of bass music as adventurously as Von D.
Dark to light, melodic to muscle-bound, deep to driving: the Parisian-in-London switch-flicks with precise production panache.
Flexing a glittering discography on influential imprints such as Boka and Black Acre, he's remained a consummate ambassador of the
low-end movement since he emerged in 2009... And we're proud to have him on board for our long-awaited seventh release.
It all kicks off with 'Deeper', a slick sojourn into the fertile playground between dubstep and garage. Swooping strings, steppy beats
and the distinctive tones of PhePhe ease us into a false sense of sexy-vibes before Von ignites a pulverising sub-soaked drop. Sliding
between sonic sophistication and slippery mechanical rhythms, its duality ensures it a playlist for any point in the night.
'Eyes On You' follows. A co-lab with fellow bass buccaneer Riskotheque, it instantly hammers a much darker message home. Icy
pads groan mournfully while hollow bass tones echo into the distance. Pitched up vocals go toe-to-toe in the fore while a series of
pensive kick drums ignite with tribal tenacity. Stripped back with a deep-seeded sense of carnal ignition, this won't just zone your
floor out, it will take them to a whole new dimension.
'Sunflower' closes the show with spine-shuddering audio awe. Sad strings sweep poignantly across the mix while a syncopated
halfstep provides a firm foundation for the subtle middy bass moan and bellowing subs beneath. An exemplary lesson on how to
work a floor as well your feelings, there is no disco, no date, no destination where this will sound out of place. Recognise those
strings You should do. The clue's in the title.
Three emphatic exercises into the deepest realms of bass music, Von D's title as a consummate ambassador of the low-end
movement remains fully intact.

The next release on Lo Note UK sees the second installment of Excursions, Lo Note's 10" series focused on the darker, more experimental sounds in underground electronic music.

Excursions 002 sees unknown London producer Tum Hulbruk make his debut with these two dark, stripped back cuts of raw mutant techno. Intricate sampling, complex rhythms, and an awareness of space suggest a maturity beyond his years and a producer who has already developed his own unique sound.

Sometimes all it takes is a single track that can
change the course of music and re-define a genre.
Enter asteroids by V.I.V.E.K, a future classic and
the first release on his label SYSTEM MUSIC, back
with over my head featuring Mel Dymond and a
remix by Om Unit. This comes off the back of his
night SYSTEM which has shifted the sound known
as dubstep back to its foundation; No hype, just
music.
The opening track Asteroids is an epic minimal killer
which has been supported by all the major players
in the scene . Slow echoed strings fall into flashes
of reverbed synths tinged with subtle emotion . The
drop is depth defying, pure weight, power, feeling,
but controlled like a lion ready to pounce on its
unsuspecting prey. Close your eyes, listen,
meditate.
Over my head featuring Mel Dymond is as sublime
if not rawer in emotion and feeling as asteroids due
the creepy echoed vocals. Her flawless oration tints
with echoes that pulsate into raw emotion and
feeling that works effortlessly with the track. At one
point in the track there is simply a sea of bass....

* Matt-U has achieved much in the Dubstep sphere, with a concise catalogue of killer releases on some essential labels, from Kryptic Minds' imprint Osiris Music to N-Type's infamous Wheel & Deal. To cement a solid 5 years at 140bpm, Matt's now ready to drop his definitive release via Black Box.
* Every track of the 'Frequency EP' serves to showcase a different side of Matt-U's production, from the laser-guided ordnance of the title track, to the murky depths of Killawatt collab 'The Strangers', via the

There's no doubt that Rockwell has made one of the most astounding and acclaimed contributions to the drum & bass scene since he first arrived several years ago. With a production technique like no other and a musicality others can only strive for, Tom Rockwell has been a solid blast of fresh air. In the years since an embryonic dubstep movement first emerged from London's underground scene, Caspa has remained at the
very forefront of a new dawn in bass heavy electronic music. In his multiple roles as DJ, producer, label owner and tastemaker, his
influence ripples through a whole generation of music lovers and club goers. Having dedicated a large proportion of his time to
championing new, emerging talent, he is now stepping firmly back into the limelight with the release of his long-overdue and eagerly
anticipated sophomore album 'Alpha Omega', to be released via his own Dub Police label in April.
This album will be the follow-up to his 2009 debut LP 'Everybody's Talking, Nobody's Listening!' and provide the most decisive
musical statement Caspa has made yet. Running through the gamut of sounds and scenes that inspire him with the help of a
selection of like-minded contemporaries, those who have pinned him down as simply a dubstep artist will quickly be re-adjusting their
viewpoints. As the title indicates, the 15-track album provides a sonic A-Z of Caspa the musician.

stomping drum programming and dizzily phasing synths show Photek with his feet firmly in the 21st century.
Arguably the biggest track from KU:PALM, Pyramid receives a remix here from London's Mr Beatnick. The hugely respected
producer, DJ and journalist originally from a decidedly Hip Hop background has blossomed over the last 18 months into an
accomplished jazz infused house producer, demonstrated by Synthetes and Sun Goddess on Semtek's Don't Be Afraid imprint. His
remix of Pyramid launches the track into even spacier territory, with the addition of his own cosmic acid bassline and sultry 4x4
groove. In 2013 Mr Beatnick looks set to finally get the props he deserves.

LB007: Saa EP.

Left Blank return after a short hiatus with their first release of 2013 from Saa; a new project forged across borders between Asher Levitas of acclaimed shadowy London outfit Old Apparatus, and Norwegian avant garde musician/vocalist Linn Carin Dirdal.

Taking cues from classic pop production of the 70's and 80's, the early 4AD sound of The Cocteau Twins et al, pastoral folk, along with contemporaries such as The Knife, Saa make gloriously intricate avant-pop, as exciting as it is unclassifiable.

Levitas' high production values will come as no surprise to fans of the aforementioned Old Apparatus, and here his complex rhythm arrangements and delicate electronics perfectly support Dirdal's layered vocals, which range from upfront and powerful to moments of choral beauty.

Lil Jabba isn't like the rest of them. While they're busy joining the dots between house and techno or whatever's safe right now, he's throwing paint all over the page. He's not American, but he's affiliated with Chicago's Teklife crew (DJ Spinn, DJ Rashad, etc.) and divides his time between Baltimore and Brooklyn, exhibiting his visual art, riding around with his bike gang and making some of the most hypnotic juke and footwork you'll ever hear. Local Action have been figuring out a release with him for over a year - eventually an EP wasn't enough, and they persuaded him to make it a full-length album, Scales.

Some of Scales has already seen the light of day through Youtube or limited cassette releases, some of it is unheard. Some tracks sound cleaner than others; that's because they're newer. That's how these things work. What is consistent throughout Scales is the quality: across 12 tracks, Jabba flips, twists and inverts the footwork template with endless layers of samples, gurgled vocal tags, jazz licks and whatever else he feels like. These aren't trax, they're tapestries.

Moscow producer NPhonix has been quietly building a name for himself with strong releases on Audio Culture and Mindtech over the last six months, now he looks to step up a gear with a quality EP on Shifting Peaks.

Opener Getting Run Down loops up a nagging hip hop sample over skittering dukey beats and washes drifting pads and spacey keys over the top for a hypnotic late night groover. 'Reach Out' goes at a calmer pace, but revolves around intense builds, insistent polyrhythms and detroity riffs for a bit of hypnagogic drama.

On memix duties, Om Unit does what you hope he's going to do, injecting Reach Out with seemingly infinite swathes of space and bottom end, looping about at his own pace, but with that constant sense of Om Unit purpose .

Nphonix closes out proceedings with a tweaky, rubbery -acid style workout that will find friends in bass and house camps .
