Release number two - the ‘Kiswahili’ EP - comes from CITY1, himself something of a wandering spirit. He hails from the Okinawa islands in Japan’s tropical southern tip, a place of teeming coral reefs and long golden sands, where inhabitants are known for living long lives. Having moved to the bustling capital of Tokyo, CITY1 has since joined Goth-Trad’s Back To Chill crew.

Commodo returns to Black Acre for the first time in over two years with surprise new three-track EP, ‘Loan Shark’. Slated for release on May 22, ‘Loan Shark’ will land as his third release with the label, following 2018 standout ‘Dyrge’ and 2016’s blistering debut album, ‘How What Time’. A quietly elusive producer, Commodo’s recent work for Deep Medi, Bandulu and Black Acre has seen him established as one of UK bass music’s contemporary frontrunners, who continues to influence the wider landscape through the strength and imagination of his output alone. It has been a long time coming. Birmingham producer ENiGMA Dubz has not only influenced dubstep as a genre, he truly shaped the duploc platform from literally the very beginning, going back all the way to October 2012 when he was featured with the channel’s first ever upload.

Along the way several releases from ENiGMA Dubz have been pushed on platform while the support and respect have been mutual. ENiGMA Dubz did already work together with the DUPLOC imprint as well a few times, although now he is releasing his first ever solo vinyl record and of course that is coming through on DUPLOC.

For “DUPPLATES Vol. 4” he carefully prepared a collection of his absolute finest productions. Expect a mixture of raw cuts as well as heavyweight rollers with "The Eyes" holding an iconic sound on his full-fledged 12-inch debut plate.

New Zealand native and master of bass, Headland returns to System Music with another slice of production wizardry built and ready to shut down dancefloors and sound systems across the world.

On the A side sits Garbo, a monster of a track which rips through the speakers with aggression and bounce. It’s as intimidating as it is funky and as experimental as it is absolutely heavyweight. Bound to shut down every rave in which it graces its presence.

The B side homes Grits. A skippy stepper of a track with a densely dark atmosphere drenched in digital yet glacial sounds and nuances, easily translatable from the dance to the headphones.

One of the hottest upcoming artists in the 140 spectrum, Fiend debuts on Infernal Sounds with the beautifully mesmerising Emeralds EP. The Bristol-based producer has previously released on the likes of J. Sparrow's Navy Cut and most recently on Chord Marauders, displaying his versatility and ease to produce tracks of various styles and soundscapes. This release is no different, acutely bending between the lighter textures with 'Emeralds', to the more heavy and soundsystem kicking 'Solar', whilst finding the perfect balance of light and dark in the B2 track, 'Omen'. To top it all off, Infernal Sounds have called on their cavalry and one of their elite in dub-master Bukkha has given the title track, 'Emeralds' his own spin to add another tier of depth to this already, magical EP.

The aesthetic of the release is once again polished to perfection, with Emily Dayson Illustration returning to give the plate an extra special touch on the artwork centre labels.

Over the past year, the release has received heavy support from the likes of Truth, J:Kenzo, Sicaria Sound, Taiko and Quasar, among many others. It's one to add to your collection, so you can blast it at home, take it for a spin on the dance floor or even frame on your wall - a really special release from top to bottom, inside and out.

Chad Dubz returns to his beloved Foundation Audio with the Ghostin’ EP. ‘Anxious’ kicks things off; a minimal sound system wobbler filled with moody bass lines and eerie atmospheres. This one’s a creeper. Title track ‘Ghostin’, a collaboration with Teffa keeps the theme rolling with its militant wubs and haunting melodies – spooky business indeed!

Flip the wax and we have ‘Headnod’ delivering sound system business with rugged drums, weighty basslines and rough and ready dub siren abuse.
Closer ‘Let Go’ rounds off the EP perfectly with its strong jungle and garage influenced vibes.

All in all this is Chad Dubz most personal and cohesive EP to date and a great way to enter 2020 for both the producer and his label.

Moscow trio Champion Sound debuts on Defrostatica Records with dancehall legend Hawkeye from Kingston for "Ghetto Youth", a hard hitting 85 bpm declaration to own the weekend with a little less conversation. The Russian jungle soundsystem crew vibes more casually on "Talk" but the tune can't shake the warning undertone. The b-side features two international remixes: the US vapourwave king Nmesh channels his inner crowd control abilities on "Ghetto Youth" whereas Sun People from Austria rebuilds "Talk" perfectly for an all-out 160 bpm breakbeat twist.

Champion Sound is a producer trio who played together in a reggae band and then decided to form their dub and jungle love into modern club tracks. Neekeetone, Distant Roots and General Koondoongoo are pushing a sound within the Moscow bass scene that is tearing down the city's techno barriers for a diverse vibe of dubstep, jungle and footwork. With a recently released 12" on Berlin based label Through These Eyes Records and DJ support by the likes of Om Unit,
Moresounds, J:Kenzo, Sun People, Mister Shifter, Mystic Pulse they are on their way to ravers worldwide.

Undivided, unified, the overwhelming sense of oneness. Feeling and experiencing this was her strongest desire since the departure, a deep longing. Walking back to base, she knew this had been obtained, it was clear and ran through her like water. Though she did not feel complete, she did not feel intergrated or a part of the whole, as it were. The collective 'one' disected, distributed and proliferated without her. Did she feel spaciousness or emptiness?

On the heels of his critically acclaimed debut full-length 'Bad Vibes', Shlohmo embarks deeper into darker realms on his latest venture, the seven-track 'Vacation' EP. Self-described as "night time backyard noises", 'Vacation' builds on the aesthetic Shlohmo established with online mixes for FACT and FADER, in which broken cassette tapes and warped found sounds melded into melodic beats packed with veiled emotion and latent mystery. Shlohmo's fractured ambient bass-drenched pop is so understated it's downright spooky, lingering in the air like like a long-suppressed memory floating just out of reach. From 'The Way U Do' verging on R&B pop, to the enigmatic 'Wen Uuu', which simultaneously pulls at the heartstrings with a quavering vocal sample while churning forward in a passionate, indisputable groove, and the pastoral 'Rained The Whole Time', which takes cues from Burial, this is a poignant set of originals. The stellar cast of remixers contributing to take 'Vacation' to the next level is Nicholas Jaar, Airhead, Salva and Groundislava.

Having made initial waves on Cold Recordings and Osiris, Eric Baldwin returns now to Tectonic to release his eponymous album ’Cocktail Party Effect’, bringing his South London roots to Berlin for an all-weekender, under strobe lights.

Drawn by his appetite for powerful rhythmical forms and inspired by the likes of Daphne Oram, The Residents and Captain Beefheart - Eric takes uses background in sound design, knowledge of hacking VST software and adapted spring reverbs and other hardware, to create a truly unique vision of contemporary electronic music. It sits somewhere between Jeff Mills, Aphex Twin & Squarepusher - held together by a connective UK Bass Music spinal chord. A weird but intriguing beast.

We open the track with Japanese cocktail recipes, before moving into the only vocal track of the album, ‘Talking To Bricks’ featuring Bristol vocalist Redders on fine form - charged with disjointed energy and run ragged across a technologically charged dancehall style beat. The LP progresses through the rolling breaks and bleeps of ‘For The Memory Exchange’, into an IDM side-step in the shape of ‘Brutalism’, moving into the gentle, beautiful flickering glitches of ‘PDA’, before we get to the hyperactive twitching alien charge of ‘War On Codex’.

Taking a leap in another direction, we reach ‘Cause For Bad Shelving’, which sounds a bit like Squarepusher when he was on late 90s, immaculate form - taking the tempo up a few notches, while building melancholy. ‘Lack Of Wrong Format’ then gives us a moment to breathe, before diving into ‘Deerhorn’ which brings us right back to the dancefloor. Things are then turned inside out with the jittery wonder of ‘I Get It (Lost Banknote)’, redirected via the industrial clangs of ‘Low_Rise’, before rounding off our sonic adventure with the ponderous tones of ‘Loner’ - which leave you glowing and drifting off into space.

A bold album that’s just brim with a strong sense of originality, direction and grand narrative. From international dancefloors to post-clubbing ear-worms, Cocktail Party Effect is just getting started and you’ll be hearing his name more and more now.

Introducing Degenerate Music - a label focused on bass heavy, chest rattlin', floor shaking & dub influenced soundsystem music - starting off 2020 with his inaugural and sharply curated 040 - 010 EP.

On "That Side" we can find 2 sought after VIP's from the duo Dyzz & Rebus, better known as The Illuminated. Both originals Scavenger & Eindhoviah have been released on New Moon Recordings, the deeper / techy sister label from the Moonshine camp and Underslung Audio (digi only). Scavenger got picked up early by the likes of Skream & Benga (BBC1 Extra radio premiere), Joe Nice (cut on dub), N-type & Walsh (Rinse.fm) and more. Eindhoviah became a warehouse dub for the gentlemen and close friends. The VIP's go way beyond the originals, fulfilling the gunfinger reload requests from the last few years.

On "This Side" we find another Scavenger version, this one fully locked on the triplets and loaded with some vocal samples from a galaxy far far away. Last but not least, Eindhoviah gets the young gun Hebbe treatment, this one's for the heads.

Blind Prophet returns to Dub-Stuy with the Clash EP, showcasing his versatility and increasing maturity as a producer. Following two previous 12” singles for the label, the Portland producer takes full flight with a 5-track EP exploring various tempos and styles of bass music, old and new. To take us along the journey, he is accompanied by various friends from the global sound system scene including Rider Shafique, Redders, Titus 12, and Tailored Sound from Bristol, Tenor Youthman from Russia, and GREAZUS from Vancouver.

BFDM’s lil sis’ Homemade Sound System is back for seconds with another action packed two-tracker courtesy of UK based producer Josi Devil.
