Call it future-step. Call it deep-step. Call it autonomic. Call it whatever you wish, but one thing is for sure - Hidden Element hailing straight from Kiev, Ukraine fail to make their music disappoint. With a fresh take on electronic sounds ranging from breathtaking beat-less layers to +/- 170 BPM heavy hitters, these two have been making waves in the industry for some time already, releasing on 22:22, Alphacut, Med School, Pinecone Moonshine, and Translation - to name a few. But it is Absys Records that is the home for their full-length album entitled 'Together'. The release is a collection of 13 amazing pieces of work, each hitting a slightly different tone, but making a wonderfully coherent whole. An entity that is enjoyed best when all of its components are played together, as the title suggests. The album focuses in majority on a rather home-listening experience, with tracks like 'Aura' or 'The Night' setting the pace for a pleasant evening chill and boosting the laid-back mood even further with "Quite Place" or 'Without You feat Kiyomi' - both infused with lovely vocals - that can serve well as modern-day lullabies. But there are also more lively accents ('Long Way Home with Physical Illusion', 'Who Knows'), traces of live instrumentation ('The Next Day feat John LaMonica'), or ambient ('Bridge'). All in all, you get a fantastic cross-section of contemporary electronic music, a masterfully composed package of nothing but pure listening pleasure.

'Taste me' is a 1981 obscure instrumental library music album and a weird example of Italo Funk Disco played by professional musicians (most of them under pseudonym) involved also in many different musical projects (from jazz, progressive rock and disco music).
The LP includes the killer Disco Funk "Don't Stop It'.

Taking in a delicious and diverse selection of artists such as label regular Fairmont, via machine music maverick Richard Norris and numerous other luminaries such as

Things start exquisitely with the spacious and lush 'Lost In Love' by Amevicious before touching on broken disco with French spoken words, percolating kosmische,

pads, Slow Porn plot a journey through space that is wide open and inviting, laid back but vitally engaging.

to squelch and fat bottomed drums hold a constant groove before things warp up perfectly on the malfunctioning disco sounds of Kieran Holden.

Following their much-acclaimed surprise debut album VERMONT from 2014, Motor City Drum Ensemble's Danilo Plessow and Innervisions' Marcus Worgull reunite for more synth daydreaming on the suitably titled 'II'. The new outing continues where the first full-length left off, strolling further down the luminous and undulating path that the duo turned into, influenced in equal measures by kosmische, krautrock, minimal wave and synth soundtracks.
This latest batch of instrumental cuts opens with the strictly balearic vibe of NORDERNEY, a softly swinging, light-footed recording with a keen sense for structure. Featuring a guest performance from Robbert Van Der Bildt (aka Kaap) on guitar, it's a telling starting point for the album that - similar to Vermont's self-titled debut - successfully navigates between economic, careful studio arrangements and playful, incidental exploration further pushing into jam session territory. Van Der Bildt's guitar returns on the plucky, curious UFER, where Vermont showcase a renewed sense for jazz-like improvisation - same as on the cuts DSCHUNA, CHANANG and WENIK, which also include contributions from Dermot O'Mahony and Tadhg Murphy on strings.
Still, Vermont's synth contraptions remain the album's main attraction, with the extensive array of gear encompassing an entire panopticon of analog bling - from Arp Oddysey and Moog Prodigy to Fender Rhodes, Juno and Prophet, list-studying gear heads will find lots to drool upon. Consequently, tracks like CHEMTRAILS, UNRUH or GEBIRGE err on the machine side of things, expertly interweaving arpeggiated sequences for maximum atmospheric effect. Foreboding, slightly menacing synth motives as on SKORBUT or CHEMTRAILS are perfectly balanced with the casual ambient of HALLO VON DER ANDEREN SEITE and the nostalgic warmth of DEMUT - while the gentle push of the masterful KI-BOU even carries a whiff of classic deep house, linking the Vermont project to Plessow and Worgull's main careers as dance floor movers and shakers.
Continually intriguing, immersive and texturally rich, each one of Vermont's new pieces betray the experience, precision and determination of the producers involved - while opening up Worgull and Plessow'a vocabulary for patient experimentation and subtle discoveries. A musical treat for synth aficionados - and everyone else, if you ask us.

New Moon Recordings' cornerstone artist Hatti Vatti is set to release his long-awaited debut album, entitled Worship Nothing, on 3 February 2014.
Having released a string of 12"s since 2009, Hatti Vatti's sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a minimal, Autonomic sound. Releases for Mindset, New Moon, On The Edge, and Absys have marked this Polish producer apart for his cinematic take on bass-driven, dub-rooted electronic music. Hatti Vatti closed 2013 with the release of Algebra, a stripped-down mini-album of Middle Eastern field recordings and ambient techno for Nowe Nagrania.
Worship Nothing sees Hatti Vatti's artistic journey culminate into a single, coherent vision - a vision that is simultaneously spacious and deeply intimate. A futuristic sheen of 80's nostalgia penetrates much of Worship Nothing, even within the familiar restrained dub of "Struggle" (with Polish vocalist Sara Brylewska) and "Wonderful World" (with Irish vocalist Cian Finn). The organic synths remain In "Treasure" and "72 Dub", though the rhythms become decidedly more manic, hinting towards the feverish feel of footwork while remaining decidedly introspective. Floating, haunted vocals pervade the half-step of "Tokyo" a shimmering collaboration with Manchester producer Synkro. Also hovering around the minimal 170bpm sound are "Synthesis" and "Black Flowers", which features vocals from Lady Katee. Slowing down to a garage-tinted swing, "Nights" is yet another collaboration with a UK artist - Versa.
Throughout Worship Nothing, Hatti Vatti has created an atmosphere that draws the listener deep into his own world of beautifully crafted beats, ambient textures, and sub-bass frequencies. Grab your headphones and float away...

Here we see Italian brother duo Elia and Niro Perrone, release their debut long player in the shape of 'Pescaiola' the name of the suburbs the pair grew up and paying homage to their musical roots growing up together.

Across the duration of the 'Pescaiola' LP Easy To Remember serve up a amalgamation of raw and intriguing electronic, house and techno cuts. Opener 'Hanckora' lays down a lo-fi infused Hip Hop style to kick things off, while 'Checkma Dem' lies in similar territory with the addition of some vocal stylings as well.

For the most part though Easy To Remember lay the focus on emotive house music, title track 'Pescaiola' plays on multi-layered melodies and retro synths, 'Hijack Percussion' focuses on gritty rhythm and soft atmospherics and 'Try To Escape' brings to light ethereal synth leads and snaking bass grooves. The duo instil some funk influence into the LP as well via 'Feelings' and some experimental touches as well with their Giulio Etiope collaboration 'Degolas' amongst others. All in all Easy To Remember deliver a refreshing take on modern electronica across the project and further prove Unclear is a force to be reckoned with in the underground.

We warmly welcome back Kettel who makes his return to Clone/DUB records since his debut Cenny Crush 15 years ago (which was followed by the brilliant Whisper Me Wishes in 2007). After a hiatus of 3 years since his last release Kettel is releasing his new album on Clone Records. The talented musician has been busy with producing music for computer games and commercials, but is now offering a fine selection of pieces he has made in the last couple years with this full length in mind. The result is a playful, inspiring, eclectic, delicate, melodic, well-balanced and brilliantly produced album fuzzing elements of electronica, classical music, jazz and techno stirred into flawless, memorable compositions. As a 90's kid Kettel has always been inspired by the early electronica pioneers (whose names don't even need to be mentioned... everyone knows who we're talking about right), and on this album too you can hear some of the aesthetics of those late 90's productions, but adopted into Kettel's unique world of confident rhythms and melodies filled with expression. The music on this record has a lyrical quality to it and is so expertly written that it does not strictly depend on it's electronical environment: these compositions would still stand firm performed on whatever combination of instruments. Another lovely and magical release by Kettel thats spreading good vibes from the first to the last second!

The 15-track set, assembled with Pete Gooding, is inspired by Barrott's sunset residency at the Ibiza venue, with music from DJ Harvey, Domenique Dumont, Francis Bebey, Finis Africae, Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Barrott himself.

No matter the season or the nationality, every day on Ibiza, tribute is paid to Carthaginian deity Tanit at sunset. The warrior goddess of dance, fertility, creation and destruction lords over the Balearic island, as she has for centuries. Phoenicians, Assyrians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Arabs, and even the Norwegians have conquered the island since ancient times and every summer that history plays out, a similar array of nationalities descending on the island anew. Yet the soul of Ibiza remains intact. Every sunset still ushers in her arrival. That singular, sacred time on the island, taking on the feel of a pagan ritual, a shift in consciousness... the end of the beginning.

It lights upon and encapsulates all the evocative beauty of Ibiza, the sounds themselves matching the colour palette of the island. The red dirt hills and the white sands, the pink blooms of almond trees and the electric blue of the water surrounding Es Vedrà, the magnetic magic, vivid colours and raw beauty of Ibiza is all here. At its root, Balearic music is always experiential. After two years in the making, Aus Music, !K7 and Wordandsound are proud to announce the release of Scottish producer Sei A's third full length, Space in Your Mind. Two singles from the ten track opus-'Ancestors' and 'Space In Your Mind,' complete with DJ Tennis remixes-will come ahead of the full release on February 26th 2016. Sei A is Andy Graham, an ever-evolving producer who has cooked up many different shades of house and techno since emerging in 2008. From dark and melodic to well swung and bass heavy, he is not one to repeat the same trick twice as two former LPs and more than 15 EPs on labels like Turbo, Life And Death, Kompakt and Aus/Simple have proved before now. As if to cement the point, this full length finds Graham straying from the dance floor to cook up a fulsome album that stands up to introspective home listening. The LP came from writing a lot of music in a short space of time,' says Graham. I felt I had grasped a sound and I wanted to expand it further. Musically I was finding that the material had much more space within the sound, with the main structure of it being melodies, therefore giving it quite a rich feel throughout. I was also aiming to expand on writing actual songs that take in verse/chorus, verse/chorus structures.' And he has sure accomplished that, because with the help of guest collaborators Will Samson and Daudi Matsiko on four tracks, Space in Your Mind is an absorbing listen with many melodies and vocal lines lingering long in the memory.

Petrels returns with a thunderous new album, Flailing Tomb. Taking the exhilaratingly huge sonic expanse that Petrels has become known for and pushing it further still, Flailing Tomb draws on a breathtaking sonic palette of influences and instrumentation to craft perhaps the strongest Petrels release to date. Flailing Tomb's underlying theme is a many-layered obsession with - and joyous celebration of - the defiance in persisting with lost causes. Building on the mythological foundations of previous albums - Haeligewielle, Onkalo and Mima - Flailing Tomb takes an underlying current that ran beneath each of these and pushes it to the fore. Flailing Tomb draws inspiration from sources as wide-ranging as Ursula K. Le Guin's speculative fiction, Indian-Celtic connections, self-mummification, Jude The Apostle (patron saint of lost causes), and Jean-Luc Godard's seminal sci-fi masterpiece, Alphaville (much of the second-half of the album is adapted from music originally written as an alternate score to the film), weaving all this and more into six intricately-layered parts - at once forthright and ambiguous. Earlier this summer Mark Barrott released his second album on his infamous label International Feel. 'Sketches From An Island 2' continued in its quest to sketch a fresh and modern foundation for Balearic music and now is followed by interpretations from artists who are equally as bold. Barrott's music once again spoke to a diverse set of aficionados such as Pitchfork who stressed it was "an example of a sequel surpassing the original" and was even supported by the prestigious Financial Times.

The challenge of reworking the material firstly falls to CFCF, who released an acclaimed album on International Feel this year whilst also receiving a Grammy nomination for his remix work. Luis Delgado, member of highly influential spanish avant garde band Finis Africae takes a sublime shot at 'Over At Dieter's Place' and Domenique Dumont's stunning remix of 'Der Stern, Der Nie Vergeht' is nostalgic for an early Padilla record and his first 'new' material since being named one of Resident Advisor's best albums of last year. Finally Nu Guinea, a favourite of Gilles Peterson impress with their 70's Library music funk take on 'The Mysterious Island of Dr Nimm'.

Barrott is also reissuing the Gatefold Vinyl edition of the first Sketches from an Island album to mark the occasion and due to continued demand. He plays every Thursday at Hostel La Torre soundtracking the sunset until the end of September and also at the launch of the venue's first compilation album (compiled by Mark and Pete Gooding) on Wednesday 7th Sept alongside DJ Harvey.

Candy Tongue' is the second single taken from the upcoming third studio album 'Lost' by Trentemøller. The beautiful song features the vocals of danish singer/songwriter Marie Fisker. Trentemøller already teamed up with Fisker on a song for the 'Into The Great Wide Yonder' LP and she's also become a firm member of Trentemøller's live band, who are touring the European summer festivals at the moment. For more than a decade, Jimmy Edgar has experimented in sound structure and design, utilising an array of digital and analog hardware to release delphic signings on Warp, !K7 and Hotflush. After launching his enigmatic label Ultramajic in 2013, the Detroit born space cadet delves into mystic philosophy with his latest metaphysical embodiment.

Following on from Lando's July release, the forthcoming EP 'Shine' sees a continuation in pulsating chunky house chords with an industrialised varnish. The gargantuan brawn and weight of 'Let me tell you' ensures crowd-pleasing thump. This theme then slightly diverts, with the synthetic minimalism of 'The Dip Chair' and 'Two of Wands'. However, Edgar harks back to earlier influences in his career with 'Feel what it is', embodying Detroit house seen through R&B elements, reflective of his hometown influences.

Being pioneers with a new album created in no more than 6 months, THE ORB are bound to be exposed to fan expectations running high, while quizzical questions about little fluffy clouds and the good old times take over. It's especially jarring as the duo of accomplished soundsmiths Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann has become known for its genre-bending curiosity and surprising sonic detours, exploring experimental soundscapes as well as club-friendly beats. The funny thing is, though, that whatever the context, you know a track from THE ORB when you hear it. Case in point: COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, their latest full-length offering - a masterful ambient album that branches out in many directions, but unmistakably sounds like THE ORB in either ear (and probably to your third ear, too).
"The idea was simply to make an ambient album", Dr Paterson explains, "we didn't look back and study earlier recordings, but wanted a more spontaneous approach, a focus on THE ORB today, our vibe in 2016." In contrast to their much-acclaimed previous full-length MOONBUILDING 2703 AD (KOMPAKT 330 CD 124) - which took years to prepare and finetune -, the new album was produced over the course of only five sessions in six months, directly following the like-minded ALPINE EP (KOMPAKT 339): "it got so spontaneous that a track like 9 ELMS OVER RIVER ENO (CHANNEL 9) consisted only of material collected at North Carolina's Moogfest in May - second-hand records from local stores, field recordings, live samples from gigs that we liked, and of course an excursion to the Eno River, which actually exists. This geographic intimacy and the spontaneity are among the top reasons why we love this album so much."
Herr Fehlmann sees the duo's relentless gigging schedule as a formative influence on the new album: "the countless performances we've played in the last years - probably up to 300 - have brought us closer as a musical unit. The spice of our concerts is improvisation - a fertile process that we've brought to the studio, where we operate with very simple rules of engagement (in this case "ambient") and go wherever the flow takes us." It's an approach that one might expect from traditional acoustic instrumentation, not necessarily an electronic set-up, but for THE ORB it works wonders: "we're quite happy and also a little bit proud that we've reached this level of unscripted levity with purely electronic means. We're finessing ourselves, sort of, always looking for the next sonic surprise that leaves us rubbing our eyes about how the heck we got there."
Once more, THE ORB's trademark playfulness is on full display on COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, and it doesn't limit itself to the multi-layered sampling and psychedelic sound composites that the duo has become known for - you'll find it in the album title as well. The simple invitation (or order) to chill out (relax Calm the eff down) is converted into an acronym - and the cow that you might expect to find on a Pink Floyd cover or with iconic UK chill-out/dance pranksters The KLF. It's not so much an obscure trope coming full circle as a perfect example for THE ORB's multitimbral approach to sound and meaning - a compelling, immersive journey to diverse places and impressions. Each track title is a conceptual work in its own right, playing with multiple references, some of which remain highly personal and mysterious. But the greatest feat of THE ORB's latest outing might just be how all this semantic doodling never gets in the way of the actual listening, at all times directly relating the artists' sonic vitality and cheerful nosiness. Chill out world! and treat yourself to an outstanding new ambient experience from THE ORB.
