Budget Cuts: Records & Tapes is honored to present five tracks of pure bliss from Bogotá based artist Ronan. Ronan, which translates to ‘A Little Seal’ in Gaelic, is the moniker of producer and artist Robin Lohrey. Lohrey was raised on San Juan Island in Washington and studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating, Lohrey moved to Ridgewood, Queens establishing himself as the creative director the Felt Presence studio space and and the technical director of the Groovy Groovy underground party series. After releasing projects on Vanity Press and Jungle Gym under his given name, Lohrey created a new musical vision and path with the founding of the Ronan moniker and the Eternal Ocean imprint with the release of the instant cult classic “Prolongez La Magie”.

For his second release, Ronan offers an introspective 5 track EP. Recorded largely during a secluded summer spent living in a cabin in the woods on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State this selection of music spans a range of tempos and moods, creating its own unique narrative space somewhere along the hardcore continuum. This creative period marked an important transition in Ronan’s life and he found solace and meaning in the writings of psychologist and meditation teacher Tara Brach, who’s book Radical Acceptance shares the title of this EP. Her words of awakening from what she calls “The Trance of Fear” activated deep self reflection and inspired this work which represents a testament to the brave act of facing one’s self and to the joy found in accepting who we truly are.

In celebration of the Liondub International labels decade in the business, Liondub proudly presents another fresh 12” featuring Bristol based Jamaican artist Blackout JA. Blackout has been rising from Reggae to Ragga Jungle fame with features and performances alongside Congo Natty, Deekline, Ed Solo, and the Jungle Cakes crew, Aries, Daddy Freddy as well as multiple projects with the Liondub International camp including 2 Rumble releases and a forthcoming Reggae Dancehall LP with Liondub himself.

Wire Parasitism EP is inspired by the electronic music which was produced during the end of the 80's and beginning of the 90s by the likes of Richard H. Kirk, Psychic TV, Coil, Dave Campbell or Lagowski (to name a few). Walid El Barbir uses his unique producing & sampling skills to create contemporary and industrial sounding compositions out of found footage like occult documentaries, rave stabs or Emax sound-libraries. Walid El Barbir is a part of the collective Les Points based in Zürich, Switzerland. His art/music draws from 90's rave utopias, occultism, progressive & accessible frameworks as showcased at their offspace Mikro - a physical room which has no doors and opening times during exhibitions and raves - making an institution available to all social layers.

This 3 track EP comes out from Limited E's vault called Retro Vol 2. Each of these tracks represents the early emergence of Jungle musik from the early 90s. E.Lets Go - This track made in 1992 by Potential Badboy was groundbreaking as it had soul elements n soulful house vocal which was unheard of back then. This track pushed the boundaries in the scene as soul n jungle beats inter-mingled.When it was played by Micky Finn in Ministry of Sound nightclub it was repeatedly jack up on that night.
EE.Part 1 - This track made in 1992 by Potential Badboy called Part 1 has a continued flavour of the original 'Lets Go' with the soul vocals. Killer Smile return with four fresh mutations of the "Catchy Schisms EP" by Skeleton Army (John Morrow), including a drum and bass mix of the Foul Play influenced "Touch" reworked by Dutch jungle Don Coco Bryce.

Coco's version of "Touch" builds on John's legendary work in the 90s drum and bass scene as a member of Foul Play. The gentle piano keys and soft vocal samples shine over a backdrop of tight amen chops and uplifting Reese bass fit for any early morning rave epiphany.

Etch delivers a heavyweight slice of breakbeat science with his take on "Catchy Schisms", mixing up the tempos, dismantling then reconstructing drums and adding plummeting deep bass in a dark sci-fi voyage.

Lowering the tempo Army Of Ghosts craft their own unique version of "Bedlam Jennie" with their twisted techno mix, using multiple layers of abstract samples, thuggish four-fours and swirling FX designed to disorientate and surprise.

The final track on the EP is a breakbeat driven mix of "Bedlam Jennie", revisited by Skeleton Army himself. Maintaining the themes of the original EP, this version is melodic yet firmly rooted in leftfield territory, a fresh excursion into an abstract vision of house music.

Ibiza Records label was established back in 1989 and was one of the main contributors to the UK underground music scene. Those behind the label we're the innovators of Hardcore Jungle, Jungle Techno and Jungle genres in the 90s stemming from Warehouses to clubs and now festivals. The Timespan returns after a 12 month rest, teaming up with both a new artist – Mr Arthur – and a new label. Or perhaps it is an old label as The Timespan was one of the original Remix Records artists back in the early 90’s. Yet the style remains, even if some of the tracks are in the 140bpm range. Deceptively simple sounding piano anthems and rave riffs, with sly hip hop loops and rolling beats. All three tracks on this EP are made entirely with hardware, yet the sound is crystal clear and the bass rolls with weight. A perfect combination of old skool and old skool.

Through These Eyes is very proud to announce a 12" from Moscow's very own Dub/Jungle production trio Champion Sound. Neekeetone, Distant Roots and General Koondoongoo made some respectable tunes on their own, but once they combined their powers as Champion Sound, the levels were raised higher. And although dubby jungle rhythms might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Moscow, this is the style these three producers from the Russian Federation have mastered in the last few years. Playing together in a reggae band and having a strong love for all things dub definitely helped a lot, too...

No wonder their tunes already got support from Moresounds, J:Kenzo, Sun People, Mister Shifter or Mystic Pulse and got played heavily on Rinse FM.
Apparently as the title suggests, "Vershun Excurshun" leans heavily in the roots of jungle and dub. The rumbling subbass and heavy hitting breaks fit perfectly to the sampled MC shouts that will guarantee to stimulate every soundsystem in a proper style!
"Through The Roots" is the perfect B-side, who takes things to a little darker, more subtle world. But once you let yourself drown in the trancey lead melody and the depth of the rhythms, you will be immersed in a cosmos of bass. Этими глазами!
