As the title suggests the 'Dub Soldier E.P' strips everything back to those allimportant, essential elements of killer drums combined
with plenty of lowend frequency, and with none of the unnecessary clutter found in most modern production Survival's technical
prowess is allowed to shine through with stunning results.
With a heavy helping of that all too often lost breathing space, all of the qualities that make this music so great are brought slap bang
to the forefront, every track centers not just on technicality, but as it should be on vibe, issuing five killer tracks all capable of

"Joker Records originated in the middle of the jungle explosion of the mid 90's and continued to lead its own way of dance floor

* Heading up this 2x12' vinyl EP is Danny's collab with long-time partners in crime the Brookes Brothers, 'Get On It'. Not one, but two releases from the quite amazing Horizons Music. The Brazilian phenomenon Nitri has so much good music around at the moment, and the good people at Horizons have decided to spread the love across their next two releases, Horizons 65 and 66.
* The nucleus of both slabs is Searching, featuring Jinadu. The track has been remixed by some big names, and these reimaginings appear across the two releases. The original is perhaps Nitri's best work yet, with a deep internal structure, and yearning, contemplative melody. Following on in the ever incredible Shogun standard is one of the hottest properties in electronic music, Rockwell. Having proved himself over the past few years as one of the most intricate and original producers to have worked through the ranks, Rockwell continues to drop jaws all over the world with his unique brand of drum & bass and here again it's not hard to see why.

* First up on the newly re-launched Emotif label is a massive single from a rising star of the Drum n Bass scene known simply as Smokesta. As a DJ, he has been present on the scene for a number of years, playing regularly on stations such Kool Fm as well as at various Drum & Bass raves across the capital. Now that his debut EP is ready to drop on Emotif recordings, surely his time as a producer has also now arrived...
* First up on the EP is a track entitled 'Back In It' which is poised to become one of the biggest anthems the Drum n Bass scene has witnessed in recent years. It's rousing vocal works like a call to arms and almost seems to demand your presence on the dance-floor. Pair that with its half-time intro of subtle reggae stabs and old skool rave chords and it's not long before you're totally hooked. Once the raucous stabs, incessant drums and tearing bassline finally arrive, it's a combination that's so irresistible it has already become a firm fixture in many a big name DJ's record box. Early supporters such as DJ SS and Grooverider have been championing the track for months already and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the scene follows suit.
* On the flipside is 'Kongotized', another sure-fire Drum & Bass anthem which almost manages to surpass the relentless energy of its counterpart. DISLTD009 see's the Belgian onslaught continue with the second April release for Dispatch Ltd
This time following up from April's earlier intercontinental affair, three of Belgians finest exports bring 'Point of No return',
'Reflexions' and 'Chronicles' to Dispatches Ltd outlet.
Mzine and Scepticz production rate is nothing short of prolific and this is certainly reflected here in both the creative content and
production quality, all three tracks carry their familiar and now signature stripped back sonic soundscapes, truly illustrating that by
adding less, more can definitely be achieved!
Each single element is carefully sculpted and positioned within its own frequency space with the highest level of precision, leaving
that all important, perfect measure of room to allow all of the low frequency content to breath and cut through to maximum effect.
'Point of No Return' has understandably been a staple inclusion for most of Skeptical and Ant TC1's recent sets and "Reflexions"
was aired by Xtrah on Frictions Radio 1 show guest Mix, a clear testament to the release's high standard.

Moscow producer NPhonix has been quietly building a name for himself with strong releases on Audio Culture and Mindtech over the last six months, now he looks to step up a gear with a quality EP on Shifting Peaks.

Opener Getting Run Down loops up a nagging hip hop sample over skittering dukey beats and washes drifting pads and spacey keys over the top for a hypnotic late night groover. 'Reach Out' goes at a calmer pace, but revolves around intense builds, insistent polyrhythms and detroity riffs for a bit of hypnagogic drama.

On memix duties, Om Unit does what you hope he's going to do, injecting Reach Out with seemingly infinite swathes of space and bottom end, looping about at his own pace, but with that constant sense of Om Unit purpose .

Nphonix closes out proceedings with a tweaky, rubbery -acid style workout that will find friends in bass and house camps .

Alongside him is Nymfo, one of the most cutting edge producers on the scene. Known for his precise, gritty style Nymfo has earned releases on some of Drum and Bass most enduring labels including Commercial Suicide, Samurai Music, Critical Recordings and Goldie's legendary Metalheadz. Now the two varied producers join forces for two cuts of precise, soulful classic Drum and Bass on Allsorts.
* Crossroads - A progressive rolling Drum and Bass track, 'Crossroads' is a blend of rich vocal snippets and crystal clear synths. Chugging forward with intricate percussion, a warm bassline and subtle synth work, 'Crossroads' has soul and precision in equal measure.

'Shadows of the past' is Naibu's twist on another track from his Habitat LP "Dig the past." It's 7 minutes long, and is an inspiring listen from start to finish. Awakening from it's long hibernation, the italian imprint Avantgarde Records fathered by Dabs and Grotesque creeps up back in the scene with quite a profound release under it's belt. Dabs works his production technique on the remix for Eastcolors' tune 'I Don't Know Why' adding a stellar structure and evolutionay production on the A side. Off-beat thumping beat work brushed with an understated vocal. Vigorous sweeps and a grumbling bassline, all this solidifying the track into something that's after your cerebral cortex. The B side of this release is the variation in prodution for the track 'Sparse' by Quadrant and Iris which was out earlier on the label now reintroduces itself with a more driving minimal feel and unfolding basslines. Not much of a big variation to the original but it is notable polish.
