Swinging Flavors is BACK! After releasing material from names such as Simon Off aka Sun People, Moresounds, DJ Madd, Ticklish, Sully, Addison Groove, Itoa and Lynch Kingsley our 7' vinyl series devoted to Bass Culture and dancefloor vibes is back again with the the Sixth One aka BMRSF006. After having a Japan vs USA Chicago Footwork sound clash with DJ Fulltono and DJ Earl's 'Tribal Dancer', now it's time for an atlantic connection - in the name of Bass Music obviously.
On the A Side you'll find Sinistarr's '55555': the Detroit bass producer - with a 10yrs experience in sound design and recently appeared with an astonishing work on legendary dBridge label Exit Records - gives us a pure example of his sonic craziness with a minimal-but-high-impact work, with chopped vocal samples, magic flutes and heavy basses.On the B Side '55555' gets a full treatment by Philip D. Kick: Cosmic Bridge honcho Jim Coles - well known in the worldwide bass scene as Om Unit - surprisingly comes back with his iconic footwork moniker giving to the original vibes a more accentuate rave touch, with hyper speed drum patterns, amen breaks and piano notes.

Weaving classic sounds with a modern and highly polished production ethic is something not everybody can get right, but Beta 2 has proved time and time again that he's the man for the job.

Blurring the lines between drum & bass and techno often tested by friend and occasional label-mate Pessimist, Overlook delivers four of his most atmospheric, genre-busting tracks on Osiris Music uk.

Opener 'Down The Rabbit Hole' leads with frantic tribal rhythms, before the eponymous second track slows the pace a little to lock the listener in a claustrophobic club full of slo-mo swaying bodies, distant vocal samples reverberating around even-more-distant hits.

On the B side, the pace continues to slow: 'Residual' drives forward with a sustained tension and breathy hints at something lurking in the shadows, before 'Crisis' eschews beats altogether to explore a more sombre mood: an ambient piece that feels like it's just been unearthed from a forgotten time.

Some of SB81's most distinguished work yet makes its way onto his 'Future Point EP', with dark soundscapes and tough breaks present throughout, etching the next steps of the Wolverhampton based producer's Metalheadz journey.

The original is without a doubt one of the most highly rated jungle tracks and this time round DJ Future has delivered an absolute tearing remake and brought it into the 21st century. Johnny L's classic gets the re-whisk from a solid set of UK bassheads... TIP!

At the tail-end of 2017, XL Recordings reissued Jonny L's seminal D&B album 'Sawtooth' on vinyl for the first time. A move that further cemented the record's game-changer status, DJ Mag hailed the record as being still the future', while Resident Advisor said 20 years later, Sawtooth still sounds like an outlier.'

So after showcasing this 20-year-old classic, XL Recordings are today releasing a 12' containing remixes of the most iconic track from the LP, 'Piper'. With efforts from Peverelist, Overmono, Powell and Zomby, these remixes go some way towards showing the influence Jonny L's music still has on a wide range of contemporary electronic artists.

Peverelist
I was 18 when 'Piper' came out. It was a time when drum and bass was evolving rapidly and tunes like 'Piper' were at the vanguard of that change. I remember there was red and green 10" versions of the single, the red one had the Grooverider mix on, a subtle reworking of the original. I could never figure out which I preferred. My remix is influenced by both, stark, mechanical, robotic and futuristic but rolling with a deep groove, hopefully I've retained that.

Overmono
There's so much gold on the XL back catalogue, but some of it shines more brightly than the rest. 'Piper' is one of those tracks that has genuinely stood the test of time - an understated classic.

Powell
I'll never forget the snap of that snare in the club and Piper's kind of rigid, uptight sense of funk. It was a huge tune for me. I was hooked on that whole stripped, ice cold, tech-steppin' sound — neurofunk as Simon Reynolds once called it. I wanted to explore that feeling of sleek, skeletal coldness in my remix. For his inaugural EP under new guise 'Yem Gel', NTS Manchester resident and visual artist Alecs Pierce comes through with a four-track cacophony of sounds for Dave Maclean (Django Django) run label Kick + Clap.
From previous experimental outings as Obsidian Pond, gristed petunia and, Handi Dogh he returns with this new project based solely on electronic compositions, giving the multi-instrumentalist artist a chance to further explore his electronic leanings. Operating with a clear mission statement, Yem Gel moniker seeks to live up to its name's reference to malleable 'fictional future plastics' by offering a set of genre-spanning compositions, drawing from multiple influences from ambient, drum 'n' bass or grime and leaving us wondering where he might take us next.

Brought together by their mutual love for meditative music, OneMind were born. The self-titled OneMind album project blurs the gap between jungle, dub and electronica, with each production detailed enough that new sounds are discovered on every listen, something that the duo have stated they feel is missing from modern electronic dance music.
The music created under this moniker consists of an array of ideas influenced by a melting pot of creative freedom, which OneMind are now ready to share in the form of a 17-track album preceded by a 2-track sampler.

Marking his first appearance on Northern Electronics, Copenhagen's Rune Bagge delivers a debut album of capricious rhythms set against the thrilling glare of an icy daybreak. There are some remarkably magnetic moments to be found in the ambient pieces on 'Pink Dreams,' though the friction burns from 'Five Elements' and the rest of the club numbers will demand urgent attention.

In 2006 Salvador Breed and Stijn van Beek met while studying Sound Design and Music Technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts. Ever since then the pair have been beavering away behind an arsenal of blinking banks in Amsterdam. The musical fruit of this twelve year friendship Breek. A partnership that smears the boundaries of styles and sounds with festive flare. For their vinyl debut, a candy coloured cornucopia of elements are swirled and whirled. Braindance, electronica and neo-classical are festooned with dubby tones and underground grit in a unique sound of diverse textures and deep tones. Faster works, like the swooping joy of "Yokai", are countered by more contemplative "Ama." "Hang" is a whimsical dreamscape of squirming acid lines, crisp drums and angular notes that combine to produce a brilliantly bright piece. "Mu-Onna" and "Oiwa" are more abstract works that melt vocals with sweet strings before the final piano swells and ambient rains of "Burabura." A daring and dynamic vinyl debut from this eccentric duo with stunning artwork from Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones (Massive Attack, Bjork en UNCLE).

A musical partnership forged at the beginning of the millennium, Ajit Steyns and Kate McGill have developed a well defined and unmistakable sound as The Untouchables. Madcap - River Soul: This iconic track has been sought after for months after being hammered in the clubs by some of the top deejay in the world. The classic drums, are complimented perfectly by a booming 808 baseline, Rhodes keys, echoing flutes, and sultry vocals that fit seamlessly into the groove. Madcap has created an undeniable groove that will be played for years to come. Classic!

Madcap - Pablo: The flip side of the record offers up a sneaky groove that will rock any sound system. The track features snappy drums, slapping percussion, a pulsating sub bassline, a classic horn sample, and echoing vocals. To this point, 'River Soul', has been the more well known track from the release. But when people hear, 'Pablo', I think both tracks will be played an equal amount. Overall, this is an instant classic of a release, and Soul Deep is proud to have the honor of representing the music on the label.
