Stilecht beginnend mit verträumten, klingelnden Synthie-Flächen, entpuppt sich THORE PFEIFFER's WIE ES EUCH GEFÄLLT schnell als sofortiger Pop Ambient-Klassiker, gefolgt von Thore's zweitem Beitrag, einem Gitarren-beseelten Trip in die Zone namens NERO - zusammen bereiten diese immens atmosphärischen Tracks einen idealen Boden für POP AMBIENT 2015, verraten aber auch das verblüffende Talent dieses jungen Produzenten so gar nicht wie ein Neuzugang zu klingen. Roger 23 cherishes the art of the understatement. A recording career spanning 13 years has seen him take his craftsmanship and knowledge to uninhibited club music highlights. An important thread throughout all his releases has always been a distinct feel for space and experiment. Mensch Musik is therefore proud to present the Mensch 001 LP, an album that focuses on Roger's experimental and ambient productions.
Featuring six tracks of downsized splendor, Mensch 001 is an intuitive listening trip that plays with repetition and abstraction. Melodic elements and spaced-out chords repeat themselves into mobile pauses. Narrative intentions are counterpointed with a sense of desertion and meaningful emptiness. Although drenched in musical history, the album sees Roger 23 make up a small and delicate musical universe for himself. Continuously refusing to bow to what is perceived to be musical relevance, these six tracks show an intent and intensity that is as undeniable as it is gratifying. Not afraid to take a stance, they are explorations of intuition taken to its natural conclusion. In the album's focus on the understatement lies the grandiose. A subtle and minimal way of producing gives way to the unaffected nature of these tracks. They are as they are, open-ended and privy to interpretation and exploration.
Mensch 001 is ambient music as it is seldom made. Effortless, yet deep. Intuitive, yet bearing a plethora of meanings. Its phased-out eccentricity leading the way, it is equally as confronting as it is soothing.

Montreal-based composer Drew Gragg conjures those rapt moments of music that burst from solitude. Here's an artist who understands boredom, its sublime ambience, and how an idea builds to wake you from it. 'Adsr Toms' takes three things, a piano, a fuzzy pitched drum and an infectious rim-shot that shape and reshape before dropping casually into the proximity of a gentle four-four. Grooves build to elegant cairns, sounding of stones as they beat in a cold undertow. Sometimes things seem formless. On 'Ostinate', a piano and pillowy tape hiss play alone before a single bounding kick threads their sounds together. Gragg studied jazz guitar and classical composition before beginning to explore electroacoustic production. His experience manifests in an elegant intention of melody that drives and switches directions thoughtfully throughout. While one might say 'techno,' or 'downtempo,' 'Over-Under' defies obvious labels with a clear-eyed fascination in the bare mechanics of sound. Results are spare and meticulous, musical sparks of mathematical intricacy, without a bit of lost humanity.

Es ist aber auch diese Sequenz, die nie richtig läuft auf Anthony's uraltem Casio CZ5000... die Sequenz mit den ganz seltsamen Klängen... Das ist die mysteriöse Seite der Elektronik, die dunkle, seltsame Seite.
Irgendwie ist es eine Auflehnung gegen das System der Elektronik selbst.

Anthony selbst, der braucht übrigens auch keinen Irokesenschnitt auf dem Kopf, um aus der Reihe zu tanzen. Mit 12 Jahren legt er an Afterparties in der Schweiz auf, mit 17 schmeisst er seine ersten Raves und kurz danach kommen seine ersten Releases bei ein paar englischen Labels. Und seither Jahre der Komposition und Produktion bei allen möglichen Labels, in Frankreich und sonstwo.

Er stammt aus dem französisch-deutsch-schweizerischen Dreiländereck und wächst in Basel auf. Einer Stadt mit unerwartet reichhaltigem kulturellem und musikalischem Reichtum, welche ihn sehr inspiriert. Ihn, den musikalisch hyperaktiven, der ganze Nächte ohne Pause zum Tanze aufspielt und dann in einer Woche 10 neue Songs schreibt... Wenn er es so sehr liebt, die Leute bis zur Erschöpfung tanzen zu sehen, dann brauchen sie dazu das richtige Material...

embarking upon a journey into the unknown, where only the journey is the reward - not the destination. a road trip into distance. towards the horizon. getting in motion and never standing still.

this album - my first one - is a product of my own journey towards distance. my time-out at the other side of the atlantic ocean - 6 months in new york. this imagination and experience has filled me with positive energy. i found myself in a new situation full of self-determination and concentration (revive). In order to structure this idle space (empty quarter) for me i dedicated the early morning hours with a calm and alert mind to exclusively making music. no interruption, no distraction entered these bright morning hours (region luminous), during which this album was created. during this window i went on a musical expedition, i developed new ways of creating music and finally found the content and form of expression with which I wanted to fill this space (towards distance).

my dearly beloved blueberry granola (layers & blueberries) gave me perfect energy for these early hours and served as inspiration for for the track of the same name.

during this phase i wanted fully engage in the journey without looking too far ahead and without expecting anything too precisely. i tried to focus more on why i wanted to do what i did than how to do it."

Prolific Dutch artist Conforce is back with another LP on Delsin Records. This one marks something of a subtle evolution in his sound in that it returns to a more organic and immersive aesthetic. Made using various bits of outboard gear, it fuses dub rhythm with ambient detail and propulsive 4/4 kick drums to make for absorbing listening. Once again, then, this album proves no one does deep electronic music as well as Conforce.

Sankt Otten's eighth album expresses a significant progression of their material on the preceding album trilogy. New drum sounds and acoustic instruments such as harmonium and piano may be found, and some pieces emerged from free improvisations, which is a completely new approach taken by this band. In spite of the new directions explored on this album, SANKT OTTEN maintain their characteristic Holy Trinity of krautrock, ambient, and 80ies electronica. Skye Klein's Terminal Sound System is a project born in a dingy Melbourne warehouse at the turn of the century. On the more than ten past releases, TSS merged epic doom, post-rock and jazz with electronica, drum'n'bass, heavy dub and ethereal vocals into a style wholly unique. The new album 'Dust Songs', which sees its release in December 2014 on Denovali Records, ist a logical extrapolation and a surprise at the same time.

Classic/ Experimental.. Skeylja"" An invented word combining the Frisian word for Terschelling, ""Skylge"", and the Icelandic word for island,"Eyjan" Skeylja is an international multimedia project, based around the ideas of improvisational music and the coming together of musicians from different countries and musical backgrounds to create a spontaneous sonic landscape. The project started when The Alvaret Ensemble (Greg Haines, Jan & Romke Kleefstra, and Sytze Pruiksma), who you may know from their eponymous debut on Denovali in 2012, travelled to Iceland to try to find a shared music language with the Icelandic musicians Ingi Garðar Erlendsson, Kira Kira, Borgar Magnason and Eiríkur Orri Ólafsson . They were joined by the 33 1/3 Collective, a group of visual artists from the Netherlands, who began to collect footage that would later be used as source material for the visual side of the performance. Some months later, after a successful week of traveling to beautiful locations and playing music together, the group met again, this time during the Oerol festival on the island of Terschelling in the Netherlands, for a series of nine sold-out shows in an old church, all of which were being recorded. Each artist ""curated"" a rough plan for one evening, which could be anything from hand-drawn images to be interpreted musically to more precise plans of structures and combinations of musicians to be explored. Never were the notes, or the content of the music itself, discussed - this was instead left up to chance and developed through listening intently to each-other, trying to create an atmosphere where each player was vital, but where everyone always worked towards the whole. After ten intense days on the island, all that was left were the memories of the audience and, luckily, a hard-drive with over ten hours of recorded music. After everyone had had a chance to listen back to rough mixes of each night and make comments, the material was taken to Greg Haines' Electricity Works studio in Berlin, where the long process of selecting, editing and mixing began. Finally, almost two years after that first initial meeting in Reykjavik, the album is complete and ready to be released into the world. We hope you enjoy it. mpermanence is the third full length album from Gregory Pappas' OKADA project and his first for emotive electronics outpost n5MD.

The title is taken from one of the three marks of Buddhism where it is believed that all existence is in a state of flux. The four long play tracks
that make up Impermanence equal such a pragmatic whole that perfectly affirms such an album title. Moments of solace and hope give way to momentary passages of happiness and love only to unknowingly become anxious, dark and claustrophobic blankets of uncertainty.

The segments of gnarled aggression that rear their head seem to never let up. Yet when released are consoled by warm ambient passages highlighting magnanimous emotive piano. Such beauty is ever present but just as in life is ever fleeting.

These ephemeral passages are what makes Impermanence so special.

The first in several different upcoming works from one of 12k's most revered and respected artists, Shuttle358's long-awaited new album Can You Prove I Was Born is a melancholic bedtime story, a familiar aura. A mobius strip. Created and mastered for vinyl with artwork featuring Polish photographer Ada Augustyniak, whose forest landscapes echo the cosmic motifs of the album. The jacket is beautifully printed on heavy-weight stockwith a silver foil inlay and the pressing is on 180g virgin vinyl. It is limited to 500 copies.

Thought of Two, Black Hat's first full-length LP, arrives in the wake of his acclaimed Covalence cassette (Field Hymns, 2013), extending the compressed, hypnotic styles of that release into three mammoth new compositions teeming with abstracted rhythms and alien tones. After three albums recorded as Papik and having being in charge of producing albums for Ely Bruna, Matteo Brancaleoni, Neja and Fred Buccini, the great passion for Nerio 'Papik' Poggi are the tribute albums dedicated to his inspirational music myths. The first project came out two years ago and was dedicated to the great singer and composer 'Bruno Martino', a fantastic album called 'Cocktail Martino'. This new work is dedicated to the greatest Italian singer of all times, Mina Mazzini, best known as 'Mina'. Mina is an unbeatable performer known all around the world for her vocal skills and for the vastness of her recordings. Back from 1950 to date, her Albums are constantly in the Italian charts and are exported in a large number of foreign countries. The choice of songs from her immense catalogue was not easy for Papik, who tried to select not only the most classic songs but also some lesser-known gems. Among the most classic: Parole parole, Le 1000 bolle blu, Grande grande grande, L'importante è finire, La banda e Città vuota (also in English) and the most peculiar : Ancora un uomo, Improvvisamente, Brivido Felino, Io innamorata, Non credere, Neve. Darkel is the solo project of Jean-Benoît Dunckel, who is also known as half of the french duo AIR. His first solo album came out in 2006, at the same time as Charlotte Gainsbourg's '5:55' album that he produced alongside with his acolyte from AIR.

As well as participating to mythical soundtracks with AIR (Virgin Suicides, Lost In Translation, Marie Antoinette, Quartier Lointain, Pioneer...), Jean-Benoît composed the score of 'Bee', 'Je M'Appelle Hmm', and also the quirky film 'Cyprien' but always in a very organic and solar electronic spirit. Recently, Jean-Benoît finished the soundtrack of the film 'L'été de Sangailé' by Alanté Kavaïté, to be released in July 2015.

Anlässlich der Nationalparkeröffnung Hunsrück-Hochwald im Mai 2015 hat Wolfgang Voigt eine abstrakt-ambiente Klanginstallation konzipiert, welche über frei in der Natur verteilte Lautsprecher, als eine art - Hörwanderung durch den Wald', vor Ort zu erleben ist.

Bei dem etwa einstündigen Musikstück handelt es sich um eine freie Improvisation über ein mit elektronischen Mitteln bearbeitetes Klassikklangszenario aus Streichern und Bläsern. Die sehr elegisch in- und auseinander fließenden Klangschwaden schweben wie ein musikalischer Morgennebel durch den rückverzauberten Wald. Haunting in it's ardor for subdued atmospheric murk and dissipating electronic dream-pop transmissions, Pazes' debut full-length album 'Induced' is loosely an exercise in musical intent vs. unknown forces that forge the end result in-between. Commenting on the process, the Berlin-based (by way of Brazil) Pazes remarks, "I like to think feelings and ideas are separate things and if I'm expressing anything with music, I want it to be the latter. However within the process it becomes very hard to control what you're doing and where you're going. Naturally, this is analogue to many other realms of experience, this difficulty in exerting some sort of control over actions even when things are very clear and defined."
Focused and fluid, 'Induced' curiously exudes a uncommon sense of mystery and melancholy presenting itself in vaguely menacing starkness, wistful ambience, creeping bass groan, and the exploration of textures ranging from almost-weightless to gritty. Cascading arpeggios meet off-kilter rhythm structures containing element traces of hip-hop/trip-hop and leftfield techno/dubstep, yet the mood of 'Induced' has as much in common with bleary-eyed post-punk or shoegaze as it does with any contemporary electronic music scenes. Largely an instrumental journey, Istanbul's Biblo returns for two otherworldly songs ("Sion" and "Every One") on 'Induced', while Paris-based pop chanteuse Andrea Balency contributes to the heart-wrenchingly gorgeous album closer 'Remnants'.

For fans of Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Terry Riley and Arvo Pärt: Composer and producer Ben Chatwin releases his new album 'The Sleeper Awakes' through Village Green. Written and recorded at Chatwin's home studio in Scotland. Inspired by the writing of H.G. Wells, 'The Sleeper Awakes' is Chatwin's first album to appear under his own name and follows last year's highly-lauded Talvihorros project 'Eaten Alive'. Ben makes a move away from the more textured, heavily layered soundscapes of his Talvihorros work into something more succinct and melodically driven. Ben sourced a one hundred-year-old Dulcitone and used it extensively, making it sit with modern electronics and synthesis

Following releases by Ramzi (Etwal Timoun) and Aquarian Foundation (Planet of Discipline), Montréal/Los Angeles label Total Stasis announces the first LP by Swiss producer Anom Vitruv, entitled Anomie. Subtitled 'Five Studies About Death,' Anomieis an intricate tapestry of field recordings, incidental sounds, and blackened, looming ambience that fluctuates between detachment and foreboding. At one point a clattering house piece rises from the mix, punctuating the record's sensual, vaguely funereal exhaustion. Cover art comes from Brazilian artist Marcellvs L., whose minimalistic studies on stasis, time, and mirage complement Anomie's intro/outrospective sense of limbo.

Innercity, the nom de plume of Belgian producer Hans Dens, has been releasing his brand of entrancing LoFi electronica on his own cassette label Why So Serious, on Aguirre Records and a slur of other specialized labels (amongst which his acclaimed album on Seattle-based Further Records). Orre is proud to present two new amazing tracks on this 7", his first outing for the label. LoFi is in fact an ugly word to describe Innercity's music as the effect of his loop-based compositions is nothing short of maximal. His free-flowing tracks glimmer with warmth and are at times soft as silk, resulting in an inward sound that is inviting, yet strangely eerie and distant. With every loop, Dens seems to tap into another emotional level. Different layers suggest evolution, but at the same time, stasis is at the center of his music, making his tracks circle around themselves, like an electronic maelstrom in which it is a pleasure to drown. 'An Ecstacy Shoredrive Into The Bleak Bliss Of No Mind Waters' on the A-side has an overpowering light shining through it. The source of that light, although familiar, is uncertain. Dens leaves it up to the listener to make his own associations, but looking up instead of down seems to be the thing to do here. 'Our Final Bloom' on the B-side is more earth-bound and concrete, darker as well. The voice sample used adds to its sense of delightful alienation and more explicit melancholy.

About ten years ago Toshiya Kawasaki founded his label Mule Musiq in Tokyo. The launch was driven by his desire to introduce the world to the music of Kuniyuki Takahashi aka Koss - one of the most multi-layered contemporary musicians of Japan.

That was down in 2005 and ever since Mule Musiq emerged, gave birth to sub labels and built up a colourful artist family that consists of musicians like DJ Sprinkles, Eddie C or Lawrence. Who always stayed and continued to evolve in terms of mastery, musicality and freedom of artistic speech is Kuniyuki.

As a producer his love for music was never caged in a singular style or genre. Under his own name, as Koss or in collaborative works with musicians like Henrik Schwarz or Marcus Henriksson and Sebastian Mullaert aka Minilogue he explored many different musical languages - from house and techno to ambient, jazz and classical.

As a listener he also loves a variety of styles ranging from old 4AD and Factory Records releases to industrial bands like SPK and Test Dept, producers like Brian Eno or Daniel Lanois and pianists like Bill Evans, Abdullah Ibrahim and Lyle Mays.

They all left a hidden mark on his music without ever been copied. Traces of the three mentioned jazz piano masters can now be heard and felt while listening to 'Silence', his latest, fifth solo album under his moniker Koss.

Its title is an announcement, as the listener does not find any club groove, overwhelming bass power or rhythmic dance attraction on it. Nevertheless all twelve tracks are very rhythmical and groove gently.

At large the piano plays a key role even tough most of the music has been created electronically. It's quite and calm melodies are diving in smooth electronic spheres and field recordings or get embraced by low-key percussions and reduced string elements. As usual Koss's music is not overcharged in order to leave much space between the notes.

A technique that enlarges the silence and sharpens the ear for sounds that float between and above it. Everything was produced in-depth in his very own private studio while using music making computer software, a Roland System-1, Jupiter-8 and the dynamic percussion synth Korg wavedrum.

Nothing that is audible is written, as Koss likes to improvise to get surprised while playing. Only later, after he has been totally absorbed by what his mind and soul performed he adds some detailed fixing for the better sounding.

His initial plan was to produce a real acoustic sounding album, but then the electronics joint softly and Koss found intuitively a simple and deep balance for both sonic worlds.

If you ask the producer and sound designer from the town Sapporo what else inspired him for his latest ambient acoustic adventures he names Mule Musiq maker Toshiya Kawasaki, who always plays to him his recent favourite music from around the world when they both meet to share their music passion.

He also tells that landscapes have an impact on his quiet art as they give him energy and silence in a Ying and Yang sense. One of his new tracks is also called 'Ancient Train' and functions as an allusion to his album 'Ancient Rain' from 2008 in the sense that for Koss the process of making music never really stops and that all his older works continue to gleam in his latest.

A wide range of inspirational zones that together work as an overall superstructure out of which Koss originates very distinct personal arrangements. They are deep, minimal and offer much to explore. If you surrender yourself to 'Silence' all heartfelt manufactured tracks will percolate through the entire body and spread what the title of his youngest album stands for.

Immensely inspired by the beautiful simplicity embodied by the laws of nature, especially the number Pi and the notion of the golden ratio, Michal Lewicki has always been searching for new ways to implement mathematics into his music. But aiming for the perfect proportions while making the music feel natural and complex at the same time has been no easy feat. In the creation of "Ton" he applied a very technical approach, utilizing various random midi generators, midi delays, polyrhythms, pitch shifters, scales and more in order to create something that posseses a live on its own, bringing him as close as possible to a naturally occurring chaos we can find in the surrounding nature every day. "One of the basic rules of aesthetics - man's senses enjoy objects that are properly proportioned. He referred to the direct relationship between beauty and mathematics, which is often measurable and can be found in nature." - R. Fisher on philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas After painstakingly accurate and detailed editing of these generators, they would create something unique and different upon every single run. The result are unique non-recurring snapshots as foundation for most tracks, a quasi-mathematical experiment in audio-randomization. Now Michal really started his work, creating arrangements and progressions based on the simple sines and natural convolution, giving the track dynamics, adding layers of synths and instrumentation. 'Ton' comes out worldwide on limited vinyl (including download code).

Exakt zehn Jahre nach seinem Debüt-Album - Herbstlaub auf CCO entführt uns der deutsche Ambient-Musiker Marsen Jules in sein - Reich der Stille . Mit - The Empire Of Silence liefert der Klang-Poet einen beeindruckenden Soundtrack zur epochalen Gewalt und Anmut nordischer Schnee- und Eislandschaften. Dabei klingt er so elegisch, warm und romantisch wie schon lange nicht mehr. Dies mag mitunter auch einer strikten Reduktion auf bittersüsse Streicherklänge geschuldet sein. Prismenhaft breitet Jules diese auf der Zeitachse aus und lässt sie im Gleitug auf das Trommelfell mäandern. Wo andere noch von Modern-Klassik reden, da bewegt sich Jules bereits auf Partikel-Ebene durch das Klangkontinuum. Dabei dringt er so tief in die Klänge ein wie selten zuvor und lässt sie in beeindruckender Präzision über das gesamte Klangspektrum widerspiegeln. Für echte Stille bleibt da mitunter wenig Raum und so entfaltet sich die epochale Klanggewalt von - The Empire of Silence bei voller Lautstärke zu einer archaischen Euphorie, die alles mit sich reisst und den gesamten Raum für sich beansprucht. Benannt sind die acht Kleinode des Albums passenderweise nach Eskimo-Begri!en für Schnee, von denen es der Legende nach gleich Duzende geben soll. Führen die melancholischen Anfangstücke - penstla (Idee von Schnee) und - tlaslo (Schnee der langsam fällt) noch auf samt gleitenden Wegen, so erhebt sich das Album mit - kayi (wandernder Schnee) und skriniya (Schnee der nie den Boden berührt) in seine volle Euphorie. Epochal zieht das neunminütige - katiyana (Nachtschnee) den Hörer in den Bann, während - naklin (vergessener Schnee) für ein kurzes Innehalten sorgt. Seinen Höhepunkt ndet das Album in nahezu ekstatischen Glisandi von - chathalin (Schnee der einen säuselnden Klang macht, wenn er auf Wasser fällt) um dann im elegischen - ylaipi (Schnee von morgen) sanft und erhaben auszuklingen.
