Following 3 maxis on Hilltop Imprint and the label Construct Re-Form, the producer Fareed – formerly of the Society of Silence duo (Versatile, Concrete Music) – returns on the new label, MAZE, dedicated to experimental breaks and cinematic soundscapes.
This first EP, with irregular rhythms and metallic sounds, loses us in the meanders of a jungle and transports us into a world borrowed from mysticism.

Known for blurring the lines of conventional traveling with adventurous parties, the Berlin/Brazil-based collective O MATO opens a new chapter in their history. The first release of O MATO Recordings reflects on a broad spectrum of tastes, representing not only the crew’s diverse musical aspirations but also the many faces of the worldwide family circle that has been gathered carefully over the years. What begun in the Amazon rainforest as an experiment with ambiguous outcome now finds its way back pressed into vinyl: A piece of sonic nostalgia, from the jungle to your turntables and beyond.

O MATO Recordings 001 compiles nine unreleased tracks from contemporary fellow artists as well as two KPM library pieces and a 1996 beat by the Long Beach G-Funk crew Foesum. Special thanks to our friends from Childhood Intelligence for connecting the dots.

Released digitally last year, the idea for Skin Teeth's debut release Nebulous was the culmination of years of raving and listening to tapes from that golden era in UK Rave - early nineties.

Wheez-ie joins Craigie Knowes offshoot C-KNOW-EVIL with bone-shakin' breaks, piercing synths and flavours channeled from 90s UK rave-culture. 'ONLY HUMAN' sets the record straight with chopped and distorted breaks laden with carefully selected voice clips and samples - building a haunting wall-shaker built for any dancefloor willing enough to test their stamina. 'WEAPONIZED' continues in a similar vein, injecting acid into the heart of the signature Wheez-ie sound. A record for the bolt of heart, stray carefully.

Dexta and Crypticz are delighted to announce their long awaited 12" single, 'Together', featuring two remixes from Munich-based Danny Scrilla. Two years in the making, the project will finally see the light of day on 10th November 2017 via Diffrent Music.

A fusion of Drum & Bass, Jungle, House and Garage, 'Together' is built for the dancefloor. The track borrows vocals and breaks from the early '90s, while blending drum machines, bass samples and vintage effect processes crafted by Dexta & Crypticz.

Danny Scrilla debuts on the label with a pair of remixes. The 'Reslice', is a great example of signature Scrilla, manipulating the original parts into an exploration of dubby, half time soundsystem music. His 'Reflop', meanwhile, is a 140bpm re-think, splicing chopped up breaks and bass stabs from the original along with strong percussion lines and weird vocal edits.

Since his outing on Hospital Records in 2015, and his debut 'SE4 EP' on Diffrent Music last year, Dexta - otherwise known as Londoner Chris Royle - has released the third part in an ongoing series for None60 Recordings, honing tracks for dancefloors and stereos alike.

Somerset's Crypticz (aka Jordan Parsons) has had quite an eventful 12 months, with his 'Echo Sound EP' on Doc Scott's 31 Recordings, and more recently the 'Forever EP' Om Unit's Cosmic Bridge imprint, while evolving his club performance from a DJ set to a custom live show consisting solely of his own music and explorations in sound design. This single comes two weeks after his latest release, the 'Access You EP', also on Diffrent Music, which set a new benchmark for Jordan, refining his sound to its highest quality.

Danny Scrilla (born Daniel Pirkl) has gone from strength to strength this year, dropping a cassette tape project on Cosmic Bridge, compiled of 16 synth and hardware-led experiments. Last month Dan also released a collaborative 12" with Sam Binga called 'Weird In Munich' - a superb effort, pushing boundaries from both their usual styles - before putting out an EP for Amit's AMAR imprint in early September.

'Together' will be available as a limited 300 run of 180gsm coloured 12" vinyl, and will be officially released on 10th November 2017. An exclusive small batch will be available at the Clashmouth D&B Label Market on 28th October 2017 at Cafe 1001 on London s Brick Lane.

The fifth studio album by Shed aka Rene Pawlowitz centers thematically on the Oderbruch region in former East Germany where the producer and DJ grew up and continues to split his time (when not in Berlin.) Both the album and track titles as well as the artwork by Arnim Tölke Ectoplasma (Oderbruch) reflect Pawlowitz’s deeply personal associations with the borderland’s marshy landscape, as well as enormous political and historical changes the region underwent as the last Eastern front during World War II – and, later, following the dissolution of the GDR.
Nevertheless, Oderbruch is not a concept album. Instead, it’s an ambivalent ode to the area in which Pawlowitz’s family has lived for generations. It’s a musical reflection on place and personal history: meeting up at the local gas station, a view to the water, techno rattling the closed windows of cars peeling out toward Berlin or the next local party, cruising along rural parkways flanked by trees with fruit ripe for picking, past weeping willows and abandoned factories where industry once thrived. Outside buzzes with the sounds of nature inextricably linked with childhood memories, but also a landscape defined by the bloody defeat of the Nazis at the Battle of Seelow, ushering in the fall of Berlin and with it, the entire fascist regime.
The album’s nine tracks are inspired by the intertwined nature of the subjective and historical,
which ring through Shed’s idiosyncratic take on breaks, bass, techno, symphonic ventures, ambient and hardcore. But unlike Shed’s previous records, Oderbruch incorporates broad pastoral landscapes – left behind and returned to.
Both fit Shed, who under various aliases (Head High, Hoover, Wax, The Higher, WK7, Equalized, The Traveller) has long influenced a number of dance music scenes in Berlin and beyond.

Oderbruch, das fünfte Album des Berliner Producers Shed, verhandelt einer klaren Linie folgend – Album- und Tracktitel, Artwork des Malers Arnim Tölke (Ectoplasma (Oderbruch), 1999, Acryl auf Leinwand) betreffen Sheds Zweitwohnsitz – persönliche und weitergedacht auch historische Assoziationen einer Region Ostdeutschlands, die als Marschland, Frontlinie und Grenzgebiet viel Wandel erfuhr.

Gemeint ist aber kein inhaltlich konzeptuelles Album oder regionales Standortmarketing, sondern eine ambivalente Ode auf das Oderbruch, nahe dem René Pawlowitz aufwuchs und in dem für ihn mehrere Generationen Familiengeschichte wurzeln. Das bedeutet: kein heimatlicher Lobgesang, sondern musikalisches Abbild persönlicher Biografie und historischer Ereignisse – der Treff an der Tanke, am Ufer mit Blick auf's Wasser, Techno aus dem Autoradio während der langen Fahrt zur nächsten Party, entlang streuobstbehängter Alleen, Trauerweiden und darbender Industriegebiete. Dazu gehören aber auch die konkreten Naturklänge, Kindheitserinnerungen und Orts-Geschichte, wie der Beginn des Untergangs der NS-Zeit in der Schlacht um die Seelöwer Höhen, die das Bruch für immer prägten.

So sind die neun instrumentalen Stücke als Tropen für kollektive Erfahrungen und Sehnsüchte entlang der einzigartig zusammengeführten Achsen Breaks, Bass, Techno, Jagdhornsinfonik, Ambient und Hardcore zu verstehen. Mehr als je zuvor gleitet Pawlowitz’ Musik in eine klangliche Umschreibung landschaftlicher Weite, was auch bestens als musikalische Parabel für Szenen in der Stadt und auf dem Land taugt. Locals nah und fern, die Shed in den vergangenen 16 Jahren als Live-Act, DJ, Labelbetreiber, Plattenhändler und Producer mitgeprägt hat.

Auf wenige trifft Letzteres so zu wie auf Pawlowitz alias Head High, Hoover, Wax, The Higher, WK7, Equalized, The Traveller ... Shed ist dabei Pawlowitz' bekanntestes Pseudonym, mit dem der gebürtige Brandenburger 2003 auf seinem eigenen Label Soloaction und 2008 auf Ostgut Ton debütierte.

You know we are in for a treat when Luke Vibert, exponent of electronic beats and breaks since the dawn of rave, delivers not one, not two, but three new album projects, each with a specific musical theme and thread. A set of three long players, collect them all like bubble gum stickers and annoy your neighbours by playing at high volume!

Vibert’s previous album projects for Hypercolour, both as Kerrier District, and under his own name, have always excelled, not to mention his groundbreaking and brain scrambling long players for Warp, Rephlex, Rising High Records, Planet Mu and Ninja Tune.

Vibert revives his Amen Andrews moniker after over a decade lying dormant. Squarely aiming the sound at the ‘Amen break’, ‘Luke Vibert presents Amen Andrews’ brings together 14 slabs of raucous breakbeat bangers, riddled with cool as fuck samples and bass bin shattering sub!

Part two of the remix series starts with Dave Hoax taking on the Jungle influenced Without Purpose originally by Earl Grey. The signature pads set the background as Dave turns up the distortion on the drum breaks. The sub is low and rattling and the variations and edits on the rhythm are frequent.

Relapse's rolling eight minute Drumfunk track from 2011 is transformed by Shins-K into a 4/4 grungy Techno track. The original drum break is splintered with filters and pitch shifts layered over the kick drums. The distorted pads surge in aggressively and then thin out into the background.

Fushara takes the title track from the Temnota EP in an uplifting introspective direction by adding new harmonies. As the number of layers in the harmony grows more complex, the percussion switches rapidly between the different drum kits.

Phreak is a party and label based in Tokyo.First release “UTAKATA EP” is written and produced by Takashi Himeoka.

Shiro is the Samurai Music offshoot created specifically for emerging artists first solo release on vinyl.

Torn is a new face to the Samurai camp and our first signing from Russia. A St Petersburg native, Torn has been developing over recent years into one of the most interesting producers in the half step community with his tracks featuring heavily in the sets of many of the scenes most prominent DJ's including Homemade Weapons, Loxy, Clarity & Presha.

The Grethen EP is a gateway to the Torn sound. 'Stagnation' is the most traditional Drum and Bass of the EP with it's bouncing, grunting lurch. 'Grethen' goes down low and deep, while 'Self Reflection' is the tune bound to populate many DJ sets with it's tribal percussion. 'Insomnia' ups the intensity with frantic, restless energy to close the EP. More Torn music to come on Samurai later in 2017..

But due to not being able to locate any of the members of Dimension for over a year, the decision was made to just release the A-side of this amazing EP and add the 1992 remix of ‘Free Your Mind’ that came out the following year on Another Planet. Since the release of this record though, Dimension have made contact with Vinyl Fanatiks and their tracks will also soon be set for releasing.

Plenty of lore is out there about Josey’s journey as a club DJ with a glinting reputation the world over. Her style is broadly and essentially UK (especially from a US vantage), in content and mixing. But she doesn’t simply follow a school; her methods are always responsive to the track at hand. Josey lets “the tunes speak – or shout, or whisper – for themselves giving them space to breathe.” Within this framework she allows tracks with both complementary and dissonant elements to meet, run over each other, break apart, or just brush each other by.

Josey in Space reflects this finesse and versatility across twenty selections, a number of which will see their digital debut inside and outside of Josey’s mix as standalone cuts. LA’s Cromie joins Detroit imprint Clave House to release four mesmerizing cuts entitled ‘Root Bulb’.

A familiar face in the Los Angeles house scene, Nikola Hlady aka Cromie has established himself through his talents and graft in the studio showcasing his distinctive deep house rhythms, clever chord progressions and focus on charismatic sound design. His previous releases on Material Image, Amadeus Records and These Things Take Time join hypnotically driven atmospheres with captivating rhythms creating forward- thinking yet classically-minded sonics. His ‘Root Bulb’ EP sees the LA producer join the Clave House family accompanying artists such as Ali Berger, Pascäal, 外神 deepspace, Appian, Gerald Norton, Segv and Berndt.

Cromie's ‘Root Bulb’ EP picks up where his 2018 releases left off, taking inspiration from the Southern California landscape that surrounds him, with its juxtaposition of endless expanses of concrete amidst its staggeringly diverse flora and famous sunshine.
‘Root Bulb’ kicks things off with absorbing pads layered over rough and raw percussion with angelic textures in the distance before ‘Lilac’ delivers breaks-tinged drums, a catchy, buried sample, infectious synth notes and warming melodies inviting the listener’s focus.

‘Aristocrat Motel’ maintains the enrapturing ambience by fusing pulsating bass shoots, alleviating tones and charming, earworm keys offering a club-focussed yet introspective track until ‘Root Bulb (Grove Mix)’ rounds off proceedings with downtempo broken-beat grooves, tantalising vibrations and undulating, cosmic elements.

Kniteforce head honcho Luna-C once again teams up Kniteforce Radio manager and all round oddball the Lowercase for a follow up to their well received Heavy Beats EP. Pale Springs Records proudly presents its second release 'The Suburbs EP'. Label boss Niles Cooper is back with a four-tracker, this time stepping into the realms of breakbeat and dub techno.

A1 is a laidback 90's type breakbeat groove, lush with ethereal pads and flutes.

A2 is an atmospheric dub track, with punchy drums and heavy chord stabs. Layered on top is a gospel vocal that loops in and out of the groove.

B1 is a moody techno track with a rolling kickdrum and celestial pads. Distorted horns and nostalgic vocal snippets emerge from the murky depths, making it an emotional ten minute ride.

B2 closes off the EP on an eerie vibe. Dusty breakbeat drums are layered with an ominous pad and distorted leads. Airy vocals cry out on top of sizzling hi-hats, while white noise crackles swoop in and out. Vinyl only.

For the second release on the Galaxiid imprint, a label of electronic music archeology and quality, we are transported to the strange sonic world of an elusive 90s pioneer. Solar X's 1997 album X-Rated will be released for the first time on vinyl, as well as reissued digitally, with new artwork by the Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami. Two worlds connecting sonically, visually and culturally.

Solar X enjoyed a burgeoning career in post-Perestroika Moscow making playful, low-tech electronica from Soviet analogue instruments, which he masterfully configured to forge animated compositions and dancefloor rarities. Fascinated by chaos and complexity, his music explores the ways in which our minds can be manipulated by structure - an endeavour quite plausibly linked to his other career as a lecturer and researcher of AI, information theory and cognitive science, his interest in which was in turn triggered by his young experiments in computer music.

Solar X gained international attention at a time when Russia was (quite unfairly) seen as a vacuum for electronic music, but was exploding in the period of piracy, poverty and freedom following the collapse of the USSR. Young Russians had benefited from the soviet education system and there was a strong DIY computer programming and music scene, fuelled by hackers, gear freaks and party animals. Viewed from today, the album is reborn at a time of further political and social strife, which many see as fuelling the huge creativity and radical thinking of modern Russia's young creatives.

X-Rated treats tempo and form as fluid concepts, administering sudden changes to its sonic landscape with disorienting effect, underlain with a subtle dose of humour and experimentation. Downtempo trip-hop sits alongside frenetic IDM and blistering electro, all bound together by peculiar melodic inflections and lively distortions. Warm, trippy harmonies and robotic synths are offset with angular drums, shifting erratically through moods and genres with cunning intent. Much like his contemporaries from the era, it's his ability to breathe life into a humble production setup that makes his music so compelling some twenty one years later.

The track titles are from a book of call girl cards in London phone booths, that reached the artist in Moscow in 1995. "I liked the titles from these cards, which were self-promoting and offering pleasure (e.g. "Mistress awaits you"). So, I thought since my tracks also offered some kind of pleasure, they might as well advertise this through their titles.'

Label head Nina Kraviz was introduced to the work of the 83 year old sensei Keiichi Tanaami by Ukawa Naoshiro, founder of Dommune in Tokyo, one of the brightest figureheads for the arts in Japan, responsible for the graphic design of the cover. In September 2017 Nina played for the opening of Tanaami-san's first exhibition in Moscow at Gary Tatintsian Gallery. Nina performed a live sound palette, to accompany the looping 7 minute animation, of experimental music from the Soviet Union, Russian pioneers of electronic music like Species Of Fishes and SolarX, Soviet-time pioneer Lev Termen, Kuryochin, avant-guard rock mixed with some Stockhausen and just pure abstract sounds, as well as treasured artists like Biogen.

Tanaami's illustrative work has strong sexual elements, so out of the five art pieces Nina selected and commissioned for Galaxiid, the first fits perfectly for 'X-rated'. The vertical line of text on the left is the traditional form for Japanese covers of foreign releases. The cover, together with the accompanying poster and sticker, are printed in Japan to ensure the highest print quality and purity of the colours.

Just Another Label and Kniteforce go back a long way, having worked with each other since 1993 and always having remained on excellent terms. So it was natural that when it came to repressing this epic label, we would work together again! We are releasing both remasters and unreleased material from JAL. Here we have 3 brilliant and previously unreleased tracks from Sunshine Production. Perfectly preserved on DAT and sounding exactly like the years they were made, these 3 tracks are unmissable slices of history….

Two sought after Slyngshot tracks finally getting reissued alongside another two yet unreleased jams on the latest YAPPIN 12".

J.C.'s "Farewell for Walls" gives us three well crafted original tracks plus a remix by Hector Oaks.

It starts with an atmospheric breakbeat work-out followed by a more pounding version by OAKS/KAOS boss Hector.

The B-side continues where the remix stopped, upping the energy and sticking to a 4x4 pattern while retaining breaky elements and chopped vocals.

Moxie's On Loop imprint presents the debut EP from Avon Blume, 'Slowly Diving'. A mature three tracker sure to please club goers on the dance floor, and home listeners alike. All three tracks boast undeniable groove & musicality, with solid production to match.

London based producer Christian Piers has a decade of production experience and a discography that spans house, techno and drum and bass. He is a long-term friend of 17 Steps, and became the second artist to release on the label after label heads Dusky back in 2015. Acclaimed releases on Curle and with Leon Vynehall as Laszlo Dancehall have sustained Christians' reputation as a truly versatile producer.

With ‘Virus’, his debut LP under this alias, Christian puts himself forward an exceptional and compelling voice in UK techno, drawing on his experience in drum and bass and breaks, a sample heavy hip-hop inspired approach to production and a dubbed out, industrial techno aesthetic.

Opener ‘Extrinsic’ lays the foundations, combining cavernous drones and rattling breaks over submerged kicks, conjuring up images of chasmal warehouses, dusty basements and rattling window frames. Elsewhere delay soaked stabs bounce off combative breaks. A dialogue between Christians’ influences ensues that’s as captivating as it is individual.

Christian creates passages of intense energy without breaking a sweat. Cold atmospheres are navigated with an unhurried authority and confidence that prevents them from becoming desolate. Behind the gritty haze and forceful bassweight Christian hides the playful, agile rhythms that have become his signature – percussive sounds stumble and roll in the background, whip like snares slice through the fog.

‘Virus’ is an exhilarating ride; right up to the final bars of the teasing, anti-climactic dancefloor weapon ‘Resource Depletion’. The infinite rising tones of the closer are a bold and forward looking statement of intent from an artist whose evolution continues to unfold.

You'd be forgiven for not realising this is " Nymfo's " first EP for 'Metalheadz' considering he's one of the Netherlands' finest drum-
and bass exports boasting releases on some of the genre's most revered labels.

Opening with the title track 'Sting Blade', the EP hits hard in true Nymfo fashion, but as he's shown over the last decade & more he's perfectly capable of executing several styles, something exemplified as you journey deeper into the release. Fellow Dutchman & Berghain staple Martyn also features for a vigorous work out on 'What's Happening'.

* The original sister label to Ram Records from the old Ram HQ studio in Essex, Liftin Spirit Records now celebrates its 25th year with a special ‘RELOADED’ limited vinyl series of remastered classics, alongside rare and previously unreleased tracks since the beginning in1992.

* DATs from artists such as Andy C, Ant Miles, Shimon, Joint Venture, Interrogator and Red One have been located in the archives. Also from the Ram & Liftin HQ came tracks for the Deep Seven label in 1993 and all these rare DAT masters have been located and now re-cut by Simon, the original Ram & Liftin vinyl masterer at ‘The Exchange’. Initially, Deep Seven remasters will present on a printed white label and unreleased tracks will have a black label.

* Desired State’s ‘Dance The Dream’ cemented the production partnership of Andy C & Ant Miles and became the penultimate release before the inception of their own Ram Records.  Championed by Kiss FM and hammered by the likes of Carl Cox and DJ Randall, the original release on Dance Wax reached No.16 in the National Dance Charts. A remix later in 1992 b/w the Hardcore anthem ‘Expansions’ was released on their local 'Out of Romford' label. This 4 track reissue also sees an unreleased mix of 'Free Your Love' from 1992 that was found in the DAT archives.

It's a match, mate, innit Stepping in the cypher with a brand-new EP, Last Nubian emerges with a signature sound that reveals the passion of the digger behind. While covering the whole range from hip-hop to house, the London-based producer manages to match the best of both worlds and delivers dusty grooves for the heads as well as catchy dance floor oriented stuff. Although the rhythms and beats often feel nostalgically familiar, Last Nubian always flirts with the fringes of a more experimental sound design while citing Flying Lotus, Mndsgn, Theo Parrish and other pioneers as his influences. Having Blaq Numbers affiliates 2XM and Paso add their two cents to the show as well, makes this artfully crafted tape a family affair.

Introducing Paris-based contemporary sculptor and music maker Erwan Sene joining the exponential Unknown Precept roster. Gathering pieces thought of as little narratives for his debut release, not without a bit French irony around the concept of work, 'I Heard You Laughing' wavers towards mechanical repetition and something more outdated at times. Purposely slowing down the tempo to fit the apparent redundancy of an industrial environment and its steadily running engines. An eroded atmosphere of sorts, analogous to the smokestacks emanating from factory chimneys. Accentuating the ambiguity of a wild thought which is hard to grasp. Despite its machine-driven aspect, Sene primary questions the difficulty to manage one's life stuck in a primitive mindset, making intuitive associations in a grid pattern. Carbon copy music for the tangled minds out there, leaving room for nothing but sedated feelings.

For this new release, the French UK am-bass-ador comes back with a 5-tracker Ep, on the infamous imprint Brothers From Different Mothers, expanding a bit more his tempo range with few special riddims. Influenced by dancehall music this Ep collects five party-oriented moods and interpretations of the genre with Simo Cell's signature and sound design skills.

Kniteforce and Just Another Label (owner of the Bear Necessities Sub Label) have been friends since the early 90’s, so when JAL wanted to remaster and repress some old and much sought after classic EPs, it was only natural for Kniteforce to take on that roll. This much sought after EP was originally a 10” but is now reissued and remastered as a 12” due to popular demand! Both tracks are absolute classics of the time, with deep and heavy vibes throughout!

Nodes emerge across vast distances, linked without ever touching, feeling what they cannot see. With RED, Priori finds order amid a fluttering chaos of autonomous structures, channeling rugged impulses into intricate emanations. Out August 21st via the NAFF sublabel Garmo.

Jude Greenaway is an audio/visual artist with a style deeply rooted in the various strands of Hip Hop culture. He has been releasing records since the turn of the 21st century but has been on the scene for much longer, honing his crafts from his base in East London. Not constrained to releasing one style of music, Jude has released interesting and engaging Electro, Techno, Ambient, Dubstep, Jungle and Breakbeat music across several key imprints including his own Yellow Machines and Modified Magic.

When Exalt Records approached Jude for a release in Spring 2019, it was always going to be a continuation of our exploration of the 7” format. Jude has delivered two killer Jungle / Breakbeat bombs, sounding total fresh and retro in equal measures. 7” Orange vinyl with art postcard insert by Dave Hanal.
