It has been 10 years since Nicolas Jaar released his celebrated debut album, Space Is Only Noise here on Circus Company. With countless accolades, forays, and dips into other waters both preceding its arrival one decade ago and since with many musical ventures this LP still stands as not only a unique and verified-classic release in the artist's own expansive catalog as well as ours, but also amongst the general pantheon of electronic music of the 21st Century on the whole.

What better way to celebrate this milestone than with an immaculate must-have re-release package, with the music now spread out over double discs and cut at 45rpm on crystal clear vinyl to the let glacial top-end soar as originally intended, and the air of the general proceedings expand, once again, into the ears and consciousness of electronic music lovers the world over. Along with this technical upgrade recut, the distinct artwork has also received a facelift fit for the occasion, and will now be found adorning a full gatefold cover, inked lovingly in reverse on inside-out heavyweight paper including printed inner sleeves for a total collector's gem front-to-back.

While Nicolas Jaar's own recent online musings of the origin of the album title and lead track has us imagining playful plexiglass-letterings and a fresh sense of abstract calm before soon-to-be career storms, the music itself feels to have not aged a day past its prime of creation. From the unanimous crowdpleaser "Colomb" to "Keep Me There" indeed doing just that, with Jaar keeping us right where he left us last go-round, to the luminous titular track "Space Is Only Noise If You Can See" and omni-prophesy of "Specters Of The Future" - please join us in a warm welcoming return to this universally acclaimed classic LP, which garnered coveted spots in both RA's Album Of The Year and Pitchfork's Top 20 in 2011, now in its unmissable pristine new vinyl form, sounding as fresh as ever, a solid 10 years later.

Multi Natural is a new example of Christina’s organic chamber music. We enter nine composed chambers. Nine rooms to inhabit, constructed out of elements that are slowly fusing. The album is a string of semi constant metamorphosis. A gesture appears, is elaborated upon—or is halted and replaced by a new gesture. Multi Natural has multi focal points, quite dissimilar to Christina’s other works that tend to have a more linear path.

Within this album lives a composer who is not afraid to let the content take over. In this, obviously composed work, there is still a large space for all those sounds to act freely. It is almost like Christina is waiting for the music to compose itself. This technique speaks of respect and trust for the listener, since it gives thelistener freedom to personally connect the lines.

When you put the needle on this record, everything turns to stone. The music flows and nurtures. Sounds that come from various realities—molded into a mutual understanding. With each spin, new events catch the ears. Like looking at alandscape, perceiving new details close and far with every gaze.

* Whilst scouring through the Ram and Liftin Spirit master DATs, we have come across one of the most requested and unreleased tracks that never made it to vinyl. Shimon’s 1995 track ‘Flava’ is now available to own after 26 years of obscurity. This Amen smasher that preceded ‘Nightflight’ also comes with a track that forms an early incarnation of what eventually morphed into ‘Recharge’. This has been aptly named ‘First Charge'. This release is anticipated to be one of the hottest and in demand slabs of wax emerging from the whole of the Liftin Spirit Reloaded series.

A reflection on modern life glimpsed through theprism of communications technology, ‘u,i’ wasrecorded almost entirely over VOIP (voice over internet protocol) apps like Skype. Using voices
extracted from personal video feeds and instrumental performances (cello, flute, violin, clarinet, organ), these were sent between their
studios in Berlin and Montreal via VOIP and rerecorded whilst playing with bandwidth reduction to colour and accentuate its flaws and distortions.

Fascinated by the way technology materialises memory, and by “the sound of its failure, pushed to its limits and breaking apart,” Johannes and Olivier have been collaborating for 20 years, working on numerous film projects together. Olivier previously worked under the Ensemble alias, in which Johannes participated as mixer, arranger
and co-writer. Ensemble’s 2000 debut (on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label) led to Björk drafting Olivier to remix several tracks and to co-write ‘Desired Constellation’. After two further Ensemble albums on FatCat, Olivier’s own-name debut was released on 130701 in 2017.

Delsin turns its attention to the archives of one of the great early pioneers of Dutch techno - Eevo Lute Muzique. The label was founded in 1991 by Wladimir Manshanden and Stefan Robbers (who was already recording seminal early techno records as Terrace for Djax-Up-Beats). Channeling the inspiration of the Detroit originators and mixing it up with their own synth pop and new wave influences, Manshanden and Robbers (adopting the Florence alias) forged a bold aesthetic with Eevo Lute, both musically and visually. This was an early iteration of techno as listening music, with an emphasis on expression and narrative over dancefloor functionality, helped in no small part by Manshanden's striking poetry. This double set of remastered, reissued tracks gathers together the earliest Florence and Wladimir M. material, largely recorded between 1991 and 1994, across five discs - the definitive document of a treasured piece of Dutch techno history. Comes with inlay and liner notes by Oliver Warwick.

Biographers of Norman Cook should look no further than the title of this--his second album under the pseudonym Fatboy Slim. From humble beginnings as the bass player in prole rock band The Housemartins, through chart-topping fame with Beats International, and even a spell scraping a meagre living from writing computer game soundtracks in the early 90s, Norman Cook has done it all. You've Come A Long Way, Baby, though, is the Fatboy's culmination, the quintessential, and utterly essential big-beat album. The Rockafeller Skank is a manic collage of surf-guitar looped into ever-tightening spirals, utterly simplistic, but a work of devilish genius. Gangster Tripping and Fucking In Heaven are in a similar celebratory mood, but to prove that the Fatboy doesn't always work by a formula, try the purloined gospel of Praise You, or the rave nostalgia of Acid 8000. It's seldom poetry, but dumb dance music doesn't get much better. Exclusive anniversary sleeve notes from Ralph Moore (Editor at Large, Mixmag) and album timeline from Damian Harris (Skint Records).

This is a beautifully remastered, remixed and reimagined repress of the final full Hyper On Experience EP. The original Moving Shadow version of this release featured four superb tracks that have become timeless classics over the years. Here, they have been lovingly remastered and in this particular case, we have not added a remix and lost a track, because all 4 original tracks are perfect.

EP number eight of the "10 Years De:tuned" series is centered around the 303 tinged acidic sound. This release kicks off with a new and innovative version of Humanoid's highly ranked and major influential classic acid house cut, followed by a proper rave peak time slammer courtesy of Mike Dred. The B-side brings Luke Vibert's grinding acid funk rhythm to the table, plus the squelchy "Strunkelpotz" produced by the cult duo Air Liquide, resulting in a broader spectrum of acid-referencing styles with the same brain-melting effect!

Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) created all the graphic work. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering and pressed on 180 gr vinyl. Stay tuned!

Mats Erlandsson makes his debut on the Swiss label Hallow Ground with »Minnesmärke,« at once a nuanced sonic exploration of the industrial and political history of his native Sweden and a deeply personal album. One of the key figures of the Stockholm drone scene, the prolific composer worked with The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble’s Hillary Jeffery, violinist and long-time friend Gaianeh Pilossian as well as sound artist and frequent collaborator Yair Elazar Glotman for a two-part composition built around tuned sustained tones performed by electronic and acoustic instruments that were combined with field recordings in order to evoke a psychedelic state of reflection, a dream-like elegy for the acoustic properties of the former iron ore mine Ställbergs Gruva where the music has been conceived and recorded. Following up on releases on labels such as Hallow Ground label mates Kali Malone and Maria W Horn’s XKatedral imprint, »Minnesmärke« is Erlandsson's most accomplished work yet.

Originally a commissioned work by the Non Existent Center for a month-long artist residency in Ställbergs Gruva last Summer, »Minnesmärke« conceptually picks up on the socio-political and economic history of the Bergslagen region where the mine is situated. After mining operations had been on-going for decades prior, in the Industrial Age iron became one of the country’s largest exports, making the mining industry an integral part of the country’s progression towards a socialdemocratic welfare state in the years after World War II. With the rise of neoliberalism and the simultaneous erosion of the welfare state however, the mines around the region started closing, which resulted in the surrounding community losing its relative prosperity. Erlandsson’s interest in this story though does not exclusively stem from the historical significance of the mine, that has been re-opened in 2012 as a centre for cultural activities and critical thought. In fact, his grandfather was born and raised in the vicinity of it and thus his life - and, by extension, his grandson’s - was inextricably linked to its fate and the ebbs and flows of the industrial development in the area.

It’s no surprise then that the two parts of »Minnesmärke,« which translates to »memorial« or »monument,« is marked by a sense of dislocation and dissociation. »Working in Ställberg was a somewhat surreal experience from the point of view of a musician some one hundred years later,« says the artist. »Being in that environment makes you view time from the side - since the place remains the same it accentuates the deep chasm that separates my perspective from those of my relatives, while at the same time providing a form of intimacy with them.« This naturally shaped the recording process, which saw Erlandsson create an interaction between the acoustic and the electronic, the human and the machinic as well as the natural environment and the technology that has shaped it as much as it has been shaped by it. A combination of synthetic and recorded sound sources was processed by reamping it in various rooms of the vast mining complex. The resulting hybrid field recordings were transferred to tape and have then been treated extensively. An arrangement for Pilossian’s violin, Jeffery’s tuba and trombone playing as well as Glotman’s parts on double bass were recorded separately and similarly manipulated to create an expanded chamber ensemble with a wider range and an ability to transcend the usual temporal bounds of the instruments.

The outcome of this intricate working process calls to mind Phill Niblock’s most dense compositions, the iconic yet subtle work of Pauline Oliveros in the field of deep listening or even Jóhann Jóhannsson’s evocative examination of similarly politically charged topics on the »The Miners’ Hymns« OST amongst others. While Erlandsson shows his knack for creating emotive dynamics by bringing the acoustic recordings into a pulsating flow, the manipulated field recordings are used as a counterpoint throughout both parts of the composition, commenting on and fostering the ever-shifting dramaturgy of the record. Most importantly though, the 41 minutes are marked by a continuous tension that almost feels tangible. It’s the looming shadow of history, materialising in the form of a monument, a memorial for the past generations that have etched their hopes and aspirations into the walls of Ställbergs Gruva.

Originally released as the A-side of The Psychology EP on Another Planet Records, with the B-side by a group called Dimension. But due to not being able to locate any of the members of Dimension for over a year, the decision was made to just release the A-side of this amazing EP and add the 1992 remix of ‘Free Your Mind’ that came out the following year on Another Planet. Since the release of this record though, Dimension have made contact with Vinyl Fanatiks and their tracks will also soon be set for releasing.

‘Free Your Mind’ is the hardcore purist’s favourite tune and light years ahead of the rest when it was originally released in 1991, 29 years ago! We at Vinyl Fanatiks are super excited to let you hear these 4 tracks together on one piece of vinyl for the first time.

* The 6th release on the celebrated Deep Seven Records label was the last Desired State production to emerge out of the Ram/Liftin Spirit HQ. Under the alias ‘Faze Lock’, 2 more 1993 Hardcore rollers emerged in the form of 'Come Again' and 'Feel It'.

* Lemon D steps up to deliver two unreleased cuts from the archives for the second instalment of the ‘Legends’ series on V. This series aims to source some of the finest unreleased gems from some of D&B’s most well-known and established artist that never saw the light of day, and press them up for the world to hear.

* ‘Wu Tang’ has been doing the rounds on various message boards and D&B group chats for years, possibly cut from an old Kiss FM show from the mid-90s. It recently had new light shone on it by the D&B producer Serum who called it out as one of his favourite unreleased tracks from this era. Sounding as fresh as the day it was made ‘Wu Tang’ is a classic, rolling, dancefloor steppa, simple but deadly, and complete with some iconic Wu Tang samples!

* On the flip ‘The Lost Dub Mix’ brings a real tearout vibe to proceedings, with a deep warm bassline, on top of some tearing Lemon D drums. This one twists and turns and is an essential pieces of Lemon D history!

* As part of the legendary Valve Soundsystem alongside Dillinja, Lemon D forged his own path in Jungle D&B, and is responsible for a plethora of iconic tracks from the 90s and 2000s. On V alone the seminal ‘I Can’t Stop’ secured his place in D&B folk law, but as well as that there are countless genre defining, and bending cuts that mean the status of ‘Legend’ is richly deserved!

* Midway into their 1993 run on Deep Seven, Desired State produced another Hardcore Junglist smasher 'Timebomb' under a new moniker of ‘CO2’, which later morphed into their alias ‘Concept 2’ on Ram Records. * Further out from the early 90’s these two 1998 tracks still exemplified the established D&B Junglist vibe that Ant Miles (Liftin’ Spirits) adored and honoured. Only recently located in the DAT tape archives, it’s focused production of twisted up organic bass lines has a foot in the present as well as the past.

EP number eight of the "10 Years De:tuned" series is centered around the 303 tinged acidic sound. This release kicks off with a new and innovative version of Humanoid's highly ranked and major influential classic acid house cut, followed by a proper rave peak time slammer courtesy of Mike Dred. The B-side brings Luke Vibert's grinding acid funk rhythm to the table, plus the squelchy "Strunkelpotz" produced by the cult duo Air Liquide, resulting in a broader spectrum of acid-referencing styles with the same brain-melting effect!

Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) created all the graphic work. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering and pressed on 180 gr vinyl. Stay tuned!

King Nightmare (1994), The Message (1993), Duckin' and Divin' (1992) and Asid (1991) make up the package. Desired State's second ever release was an EP on Strategy Records in 1992 just before the inception of Ram Records. Duckin’ and Divin’ had always been a favourite from that release and now sees the light of day once again some 27 years later
